Unfortunately, I had a slip and fall accident, which caused me to need a home health aid.
I found this agency on google. Took a chance on it. They accepted my HMO insurance plan which was good.
The person that typically answers to phone her name is Annis. She was very helpful with getting my papers processed and getting the authorizations from my health insurance.
Sometimes she was pleasant over the phone, other times she was not so much.
Once my insurance approved my home health aide services Annis and I communicated about the days and time that I would have the person helping me at home.
During that time she told me that the home health aide would stop by my house on Thursday to introduce herself (same day). She also communicated with me that the person would come the following morning (on Friday to begin providing services to me at home.
The home health aide never stopped by on Thursday to introduce herself and Friday she never showed up and didn't even have the decency to call or communicate whatsoever.
Friday morning I called to see what was going on and I called at 9 o'clock in the morning and was told that they were not open. When their business hours are 9 to 5.
Annis told me she would call me once she finds out what's going on from the girl. She never called me I actually had to contact her to find out. When communicating with her, she had the audacity to be upset (rude tone in her voice)as if she was the person that didn't receive the services that were promised.
She tells me that the home health aide got lost trying to find my home then she tells me that to make it up the girl would come to my house the following day (on Saturday) for 6 hours to make up for not coming Friday.
Saturday came and no-call / no-show; nothing whatsoever. Monday comes and the girl (M. YOUNG) shows up to my house and says she wants to start work. I complained to her that she did not show up on Saturday and she claimed that the agency did not tell her that she had to come on Saturday.
I was extremely upset because I was lied to by the agency and the girl claims she had no knowledge about coming in on Saturday; and that she would never agree to that.
It was apparent that Annis was trying to buy time for her employee or cover up for her or whatever the case may be, when we spoke on Friday; so I told the home health aide (on that Monday)that I am refusing her services.
Wednesday a different home health aide shows up to my APT door and we had a lengthy conversation about my experience. This particular employee (Miriam) says that she always communicates with the people that she provides services with and that she empathized with me about the person not showing up to my house, not calling, or communicating and let the agency lying to me. Basically with the conversation we had, I thought we had an understanding, that we were on the same page and that this could potentially work.
Because she appeared to the professional understanding and kind- so I allowed her to provide me with services.
Right now, I have so much going on in my personal life, I wrote down a list of things I needed for her to help me with for the day. Just so nothing is forgotten.
The first day, everything went well; however, the second day she deviated from what I had asked her to do.
I had asked her to go to the laundromat (included on the plan) and to wash my clothes and to come back to my apartment to use my dryer (I don't have a washing machine.) She had a list of things handwritten that I showed to her and I also sent via text message; so it was clear what needed to be accomplished that day.
She spends 4 hours in a Laundromat and tells me she did not want to come back she just wanted to stay there and she had lunch.
I could not believe that whatsoever. This individual literally comes back at the time she is supposed to leave. Who takes 4 hours to do laundry? two damn loads of laundry. The Laundromat is literally around the corner from me!
This is the person that claims they communicate, but she didn't even call me to say anything or to ask me if that would be okay. She took it upon herself didn't help me prepare any meals, didn't do anything that she was supposed to do according to my list (more detailed)
which is comparable from the list her agency provided.
To be quite honest I was going to discontinue her services after that incident but what I'm going to do is allow her to complete the week and I'm going to get a new agency, since I will have a different health insurance plan.
If you're looking for an empathetic agency that will care for you or your loved one and be honest and have communication and to follow instructions this is not the agency for you.
PS. she billed for services that I did not receive (Friday & Saturday) my health insurance confirmed that.
