Just a note to commend Dr. Torson and staff. I haven't had an eye exam in years. I had a concern about a floater in my eye and thought to use my vision insurance for a check up and to investigate this new concern. Dr. Torson was EXCEPTIONALLY detailed in studying my eye. He also provided a very thorough vision exam advising that readers might make my reading enjoyable. More important he alleviated my anxiety about my eye floater helping me understand what it is and also confirmed there was nothing alarming wrong with my eye. I give him a 10 out of 10. Even though my vision is still pretty good, I think I'd actually go back next year for another exam because he made the process so interesting and pleasant. Joanne and staff are very hospitable. I have been a faithful eye exam customer of Rosin for years plus i always recommend them on Facebook when people are looking for an Eyecare place. I called to have my eyeglasses prescription extended due to Covid19 and was told they would only do it if i bought my product there, all though they were extending contact prescriptions. Disappointing and disorganized have been going to this establishment since i was about 12 i am now 21 and don't think i will ever spend my money nor my time at Rosin. I purchased a pair of glasses through my insurance after my eye exam since i didn't wanna lose my benefits for the year. My husband made an appointment to go in to Rosin of Glen Ellyn to select a new pair of eyeglasses. That's where he got his last pair. I accompanied him on the visit. We knocked on the door and realized we must have to call to tell them we were outside their door. The person who answered advised that only my husband would be let in to look at glasses, not me. They only allow 1 person. Nowhere on the website does it state this rule. I wonder what they tell a mother and their child who are looking for glasses for the child. Only allow the child in??? My husband didn't bother going in. We left and won't be going there again. I realize they are being extra cautious with COVID but come on, we had an appointment and there was no one else in there. We're going to Rosin in Wheaton. I called them and they welcome our business and allow me to accompany my husband to select his eyeglasses. I had a great experience with Rosin. They are a preferred VSP provider so my insurance gave me extra money for my frames if I came here. I can't speak to prices because I always order my contacts and glasses at the optometrist office, however I was very pleased with the price I walked out paying after insurance. The process was pretty easy. I made an appointment a few days in advance online. Once I arrived to the office, I filled out the typical new patient forms and I was seen within a few minutes. The eye doctor was pretty nice and answered all of the questions I had. Although their supply of eyeglasses was smaller than my previous eye doctor, they did have a lot of pairs that I liked. I tried on tons of different pairs until I nailed it down to my final 5, then the woman assisting me was kind enough to get me total prices on each. I ended up with a pair of brown ombre Bebe glasses that I get so many compliments on. read more

I had a very horrible expierience with this eye care provider . They gave me a new brand of contact lenses that I was not familiar with . The lenses caused me irritation , dryness as well as migraines . When I went back to Express my discomfort they gave me eye drops and told me to deal with it . Fast forward to when it's time order a new box of lenses the nasty manager KATHY . Tells me they can't give me a new brand of lenses and I have to keep the ones prescribed to me . Why ? Is my question why do I have to keep lenses that are causing me irritation and dryness ? She hung up the phone on me and refused to service me . So if you can avoid this place please do . . I love Rosin. I have been a customer for about 30 years. I have zero complaints about the quality of care and the exams. I think Dr. Torson is top-notch. That said, this latest order we placed is comical at best. On January 26th my husband brought in his relatively new Oakley Black FlakJacket frames to get prescription lenses put in. We ordered the black iridium polarized lenses. We were told that it would take about 10-14 days for them to come in. 4 weeks later, we got a call saying that they were ready. I went to pick them up and noticed that the lenses were the wrong color. Then I put them on. The lenses were (a) NOT prescription (b) not polarized and (c) not black iridium. I mentioned this to the woman at the front desk and she assured me that they were exactly as ordered. I told her that just because the piece of paper says that they are something doesn't mean they are. She then called one of the techs who took them in back and determined that (sure enough) they were neither prescription nor polarized. That was on February 18th. So now it's March 15th and no sign of the glasses, and no word from the lab on whether they were even made or when they would be shipped. Yesterday when I called the Oakley lab directly, I was told that their maximum turn around was 8-10 days. DAYS not WEEKS! I will be very curious to see what Cathy the manager (who isn't in today) will have to say tomorrow. We requested our order be cancelled and the frames reimbursed. They are $195 frames. I have no issue going to Rosin for exams, but I am reluctant to place future orders with them. read more

I've never written a review before but I have to warn others about this company. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. The company LIED to a contact lens retailer that my prescription was expired when it was not. When I did my research, it states: Prescribers must: give a copy of the contact lens prescription to the patient at the end of the contact lens fitting - even if the patient doesn't ask for it. provide or verify the contact lens prescription to anyone who is designated to act on behalf of the patient, including contact lens sellers. They did neither and lied to them. You, as a customer, have a right to shop around to buy glasses and contact lenses from wherever you want. Don't do business with a company that lies and tries to bully their customers into going back for more exams. The exam itself was nothing to write home about and I specifically remember the retailers being very forceful when asking me to buy contacts from them initially. On top of this, they hack on other things for your exam ($85 for an eye exam and $150 for contact lens exam). When i asked about the contact lens exam, they told me it was the part where they had be try on contacts.... when all i did was put on a new pair of TRIAL lenses that I have always used. The staff is rude, the manager happens to never be around or call back, and they intimidate their customers to buy their products. Go somewhere else. read more

Eye exam was great, but they made me buy contacts right away instead of giving me time to try the trials. They are also a lot more expensive than other optometrists in the area. If I could do it again, or next year I'll avoid Rosin and go to Costco. Shop around and check there prices you'll find they are more expensive than other optometrists. read more

I am nothing but impressed with the service at this store! Everyone who has helped me has gone out of their way to find glasses that made me look and feel good. One of the opticians even looked through all of the Ray-Ban selection they carried to try to find me a special frame. Dr. Torson was great and made time to take a look at my eye when I had some pain. I could not have been happier with my recent experience at Rosin's in Glen Ellyn. From the doctor all the way down to the front desk, everyone was as friendly and courteous as could be. I was a bit alarmed when I was told my glasses might take four to eight weeks to come in! It was during a very busy time (back to school time.) But they were ready in two weeks at the most, and I absolutely love them. I found their prices for what I purchased to be no higher than ForEyes. read more

Friendly enough but very EXPENSIVE. Their eye exams are a separate cost from the contact exam price. They charge two fees: $85 for eye exam and another $70 -$150 for contact exam. ...depending how strong of a contact prescription you need. If you need bifocal contacts they charge, $150 for the contact exam. That is in addition to the regular eye exam of $85. Even with insurance I ended up paying $145 out of my pocket for the eye exam! I should have done my research -if I knew how EXPENSIVE Rosen Eyecare was I would have went to Costco or any other Eyecare center for that matter. I would have spent less going to a different Eyecare place and NOT using my eye insurance at all. read more

family of 3 and over a thousand dollars later- one family member just purchased bifocals that they could have paid 20.00 for at Walgreens. My first set of glasses with them and the transition measurements were completely off- returned for a 2nd appointment for them to fix the glasses- I picked them up, still not right! I called the third time and couldn't get an appointment for over two weeks.... I don't have time for this place. Unfortunately, the glasses aren't right. And I went here due to my VSP work insurance. The glasses cause my vision to be fuzzy from viewing the computer on my desk to them looking down to the paperwork on my desk... I honestly had better prices and service without insurance at American'a Best which I bought my glasses at for over 20 years prior to Rosin. Seriously, I don't know how they still have a standing building practically in front of Trader Joe's in Glen Ellyn! read more

Overcharged me and refused to make any effort to correct their error - I had to cancel my $500 glasses order (for 1 pair!) to get my money back instead. I had an eye exam there in early June for contacts (my first experience with contact lenses). The trial lenses came in and were not correct. No problem, I understand that is not an uncommon occurrence. The doctor modified my prescription and was going to allegedly reorder new trial lenses. That was weeks ago and I have not heard anything from the office. Today I was forced to call them and find out the status of my prescription. The office said my contacts were in the drawer and ready for pickup. Nice enough on the phone but they seem disorganized in my opinion. read more

Went here for my annual eye exam. I was about 10 minutes late. I was told the doctor could not see me because of this. I was disappointed but I was late. I made an appointment for the next day. I had 4 surgeries in the last 18 months so sometimes I am slower than I should be. I came the next day to my scheduled appointment and was told I had no appointment. I explained the previous days issue and how they had made the appointment for the next day. Still no appointment. I just left in disgust. I have gone to this site for 18 years. You would think they could accommodate me. So since I've been recovering I had not gone in for my regular exam for two years. Found out yesterday when I went to the Glen Ellyn Wal Mart that I have cataracts. I am not blaming them but wonder if this would have been found sooner if they had kept the second appointment. I got an appointment yesterday the same day. They put a rush on new glasses for me and I didn't need to wait and spent less there than at Rosins with my insurance.
