Genuinely don't even have words to express how amazing Dr. Dienes is. I have had a serious eye infection for a week and have seen multiple doctors and none of them have even come close to how helpful she has been. She took her time asking meaningful questions and doing a throughout exam to provide the best care which NONE of the other doctors have done. She was extremely professional and kind, you can tell she actually cares about your health and provides exceptional care. It was so easy to get an appointment, she took me right away which is something that has never happened. I had to find a new optometrists as my existing one was moving further out and no longer provides eye glasses service in-house. So I checked Yelp and found this gem! I checked their website and I booked an appointment online they seem tech savvy. As a new patient I filled out the form online ahead of time before my appointment which was great to do. I even got a text reminder of my appointment which was cool! They are located within a strip mall so there was plenty of parking. When I arrived it's a small store front. I was greeted by them. The staff was very friendly. They were all wearing mask at the time. I wish I was able to see their smiling faces but each their own. They have all assortments of eyeglasses and sunglasses including sport eyeglasses. They have a website so check out their name brands. They will even fit your lenses if you bring in your own frames from other stores or online which is good to know. And that is what I ended up doing. I didn't find a low bridge/Asian fitted glasses for myself in their store that I liked so I wanted to use my existing glasses that I use for work with new lenses. Now here's where I talk about my great customer experience... There was a patient ahead of me so while I was waiting I was talking to their opt tech Jamie and told him that I wanted to see if he can fix my favorite eye glasses arms for me as I had them adjusted many time by Walmart opt tech last year who didn't do a great job and was impatient with me and he told me that they adjusted/damaged the arms so much he wasn't able to fix them right for me. But instead he has an idea and checked ray ban website and he said let's see if they are still in warranty by them. He helped me set up a new customer account on his laptop, we took some pictures and we upload it and Ray Ban replied back and said it was out of warranty but they will replace the arms for $99 when I ship it out to them, oh yeah done! My model is a low bridge/Asian fit frames that were an old model but love the black and red color and style that fits my face and I'm shipping them out. And once I get them back I will have this place fit my new bifocal lens. They also offer lenses for those who work all day in front of the computer screen that are Not with that weird blue glare tint and shaded that i'm currently using. I'm NOT a fan wearing that eyeglasses as I look like a fly and I know people are staring at my blue tins glare. Luckily I have an older pair of glasses that I can still use for now while I ship out my glasses for repair :) One thing to keep in mind Dr Carolyn Dienes is very detailed oriented not sure if it's because I'm a first time patient as she did take her time with me. I do love that I'm not rushing through my appointment and I'm willing to wait for my turn. It's a family owned business and they all help out each other including the doctor helping her patients pick out glasses and answering the front desk phone when they were getting busy. I'm one to look for someone to take their time with me and not upsell their products which I didn't feel like that at all. They have the most current systems here for testing your eyes which is good. I have been unhappy with wearing hard lenses as I thought I had dry eye syndrome but it's clogged tear ducts. She checked my vision as I need bifocals. So I have been trying out her trials they are monthly lenses one to see far distance and one eye to see near like a menu and so far a week of the first trial I love love it! From wearing my old hard lenses for only a couple of hours I can tolerate until it gets dry and blurry to wearing these trial soft lenses for stigmatism that I can't tell I'm wearing them! I was wearing them all day even at the gym! I having stigmatism the lenses didn't even rotate around my eyes at all yay! Kid you not, I almost started tearing up of joy! I can see no more fogged up glasses while working out at the gym! She noticed clogged tear ducts and recommend me to purchase off of Amazon these heating eye mask called Burder. I'm currently using the heated mask to help loosen the clog tear ducts and for me to continue taking fish oil supplements this will help. It's been great so far that I do it 1-2 times a day for 10 minutes and it seems to be working-teary eyes. One thing too of a great customer experience, I'm also able to email Dr. Dienes if anything related to my vision. Emailing her, she respond back within 24 hours so cool! I'm even encouraging my hubby to see her now as she can give her opinion about lasik that he wanted to do. It's not for me.. Overall, I'm very happy with this place they take their time so if you are the type you want to get in and out the door quick then go down a couple of stores to the typical chain business....pick a number. If you want quality care that takes their time to get to know you then check this place out! read more

We have been going to Town Eye Care for years. The eye exam has always been very thorough and they are very helpful with choosing glasses.

Went in a couple weeks ago. There was one customer and one employee. The employee said hello and attended to his customer. I made a couple of passes through their selection and tried on several pairs of glasses. Got a call, so I had to step out. Returned shortly and made a couple more passes. Tried on a few more frames. Stood there for about ten minutes. Received no eye contact. No "I'll be with you in a moment". Nothing. I will not be returning. read more

Fantastic experience from the moment I walked into the shop. I have trouble finding frames for my smaller face. Every shop or website that I had tried had the same frames, or large frames. Town Eyecare carries incredible brands I found no where else. Within moments of being in the store I had found 3 frames that would work. Sam was a tremendous help with finding other frames for me to try. I could not believe how many beautiful frames they carried, as well as some that are just more interesting than the usual store brands. I was looking for a new eye doctor and remembered Dr. D's husband had posted in one of our local community FB groups about his wife taking over this practice. I loved how I could book an appointment online, and they followed up with text confirmations. Dr. D was so personable and friendly! She listened to my problems and really helped me find a solution. She explained everything and made it so easy to understand. I even ordered some new glasses that were a little outside my comfort zone, but once I tried them on, I was in love! When I got home from my appointment I told my husband how this was THE BEST eye doctor appointment I've been to in all my years (and that's about 35 years of wearing glasses/contacts). I was on the lookout for another eyecare clinic after being at one in Glen Ellyn, that I thought was expensive and just ok with service. Every time I went there, I spent a couple of hours and it took weeks to get my glasses. Then I went to Costco and they were much less expensive, with quicker appointments and turn-around of glasses, but the glasses never really fit me well. I must say that I think I found a very good eyecare clinic this time. I went here based on Yelp reviews and what a different experience I had this time. The clinic is run by a husband and wife team, who are just fanastic. I had no wait to see the Dr. Lee, who had me fill out some paperwork first and then led me into a room to do my eye exam. After doing an exam, she explained that my prescription was only slightly worse than last time. After explaining to her that I feel some eyestrain, do a lot of computer work and am constantly moving my head up and town (leading to neck pain) to view my screen, she offered that I just get a single prescription computer eyeglasses for using the computer or reading. That sounded like a perfect idea to me. I didn't have to spend time shopping around for lenses, because she brought out a pair of lenses that were super light and had flexible, plastic arms that were offered in a variety of colors. She explained that if they broke, the arms could just be replaced. Or if I got tired of the color that I could just replace the arms. They were pink and she said they went good with my red hair. She told me about Crizal Prevencia lenses which have a blue light blocking lense which has a bit of a tint. Henry came over to look and make sure he thought the glasses looked good on me and then they went ahead and placed the order. I was surprised when they told me the order would be ready by the end of the week, as I was used to waiting several weeks for my glasses to be ready. Unfortunately, the lenses were not ready for about a week and a half, but it actually worked out ok. I went to pick up the new glasses and it turned out the company sent them to the store, and they had the Crizal lenses, but not the Crizal Prevencia (which cost a little extra). Dr. Lee said she called the company and asked them why they didn't make the proper glasses and asked them to please send a new pair with the proper lenses. That is why it took an extra few days. Since Dr. Lee already had an extra set of lenses, with my prescription, they offered to sell them to me just for the price of the lenses with a discount, if I wanted an extra pair. I was happy about that, because anytime I wouldn't mind just keeping a set at work, so I don't have to keep carrying them back and forth to work with me. I said yes, and they were ready quickly. When I picked up my glasses, it was like Christmas time. There were my glasses inside of a very nice case, with a couple of cleaning clothes, one of which seemed standard, plus an extra Crizal one. Plus there was a bag of hard cherry candy and a bottle of glass cleaner. All in a little brown paper gift bag. I realize these might just be small things to some, but to me it just says they go the extra mile for their customers and I loved it. They are my new Doctor and even if they aren't the cheapest in the area, the customer service, quick appointment and glasses turn-around and extra special touches are worth the money since I don't need glasses constantly. read more

I almost don't want to share this local gem, but I must, because they deserve all the business! I've been seeing Dr. Lee for years and wouldn't go anywhere else. She is quick, knowledgeable, efficient and gets you in the right prescription and contacts. The beauty of this place though is that it's a husband and wife team. They're like the dynamic duo. Dr. Lee gets you a thorough eye exam and figures out your prescription while Henry, her husband, finds you the perfect frames. And I mean perfect. He examines your face and quickly is walking throughout the store and pulls out frames for you to try. Then pulls down the handy mirrors from the ceiling for you to see. Very many times as soon as I would put on a frame he would quickly shake his head and as soon as I'd look I'd agree, they weren't right. He is patient and takes his time with you, doesn't rush you at all. He wants you to feel great about your new frames. The turnaround time is pretty quick too and once you come back to pick everything up, again they both take their time to make sure the prescription feels right, I try on the contacts if I ordered some, and Henry adjusts the frames so they fit perfectly. They send you off with a great little bag filled with hard candies, microfiber cloth and spray, and if you ordered contacts, some solution and a contact case. This place is fantastic, hidden in a strip mall with the best selection of beautiful frames and an extremely talented, hard working and lovely couple who help you with all your eye care needs! read more

Over the past couple years I have now purchased 2 pairs of glasses from Town Eyecare. The first time, I was presented with a few different styles that complemented my face, and in a few different price ranges. I was offered a discount on a pair that would have normally been out of my price range, so I went ahead and bought them. After losing them a year later, I decided I liked them so much that I had to go back and get another pair, even though I now live all the way in Lakeview. I was told they were in stock and I could pick up my replacement the next day, and at a slightly lower price than I paid the first time. Found this place on the Internet, and liked the reviews. I was able to see them an hour after speaking to them, and had my eye test done. Nothing uncomfortable occurred (which had always previously been the case on previous eye tests with other opticians, in the UK also) Sumi Lee, had a technique which helped me easily choose the clearest letters. I liked her modern machines also. Then Henry discussed frames, and as others have said here, his patience and willingness to help, and his 'flair' for fashion (Henry has a funky image!) came in very handy and we chose frames, with a lens shape I would not normally have considered, but which really suited me! UPDATE: BEWARE! A few weeks later I found that the lens produced a lot of 'glare' when pics were taken! Sometimes, I looked as if neon blue was shining out of them. We were upset and remembered that Henry had said I would NOT get lens glare, especially as many photos taken would be used professionally. Husband and I went to his shop, where I produced the photos and proved there was very bad glare. Now considering I was sold these glasses with added non-glare and various other things I was surprised to be told by them, due to my having a slight tint on the lens, the anti-glare would not work! Surely this would mean them giving us back the money for the useless non-glare cost? Offering to make some more lenses for me? NO! They did not, and soon walked away from us to serve other people. My husband had found some glasses he wanted which would have been around $1000 or more, but now that the married couple showed NO intention of giving me a refund, or suggesting they take the non-glare or the tint off, he decided against spending any more money in here. Due to them not caring about the problem and realising it was THEIR mistake as they had mislead me, (Saying they did not know that would happen was very unprofessional) It is their job to know! Worse to not offer a refund, to change the lens, nor to suggest anything else to help, my husband decided not to spend any more money in their shop. My glasses had been quite expensive, and now I have to get another pair which a camera will not be able to cause glare on. I shall NOT be going back to this optician again! Funny how you can really tell how responsible sellers can be, depending on what after-sales help is needed. We received NONE from this couple! And initially, I had GIVEN them my 442 page novel on first meeting! They were sweet as honey and so helpful so they get the sales, but afterward, if there is this type of mistake which would cost them to make the customer happy, they do NOTHING! My entire family has gone to Henry and Dr. Lee for our glasses for years at Town Eyecare. I have had three pairs from them and loved them all. I believe My sister has had two pairs, and my mother has had four. Henry takes a lot of time to find the right glasses that frame your face and what you are wearing them for (I told him I graduated community college and am going to 4 year university and looking for a full time job.) I went in for an exam and a new pair yesterday. Dr Lee always takes a lot of time with the exam so your prescription doesn't end up wrong. I told Henry what I wanted, and he always has great selections. Yeah, they are more expensive then Lenscrafters, but I'd rather spend money on a product that will stay in style and last for years. My mother also got a supply of contacts for my sister for free this year with our insurance since she didn't get new glasses. She did not even know we could do that. The credit we had was really nice since my sister is in college too and she can't really afford to buy contacts on her own. I highly recommend and my mother and I have recommended them to friends. After having dealt with For Eyes, Pearle, and LensCrafters for years I stumbled into this place a few years ago and keep coming back. Do yourself a favor and don't buy frames that have a designer name but are all made in the same factory. (Do a google search on luxottica) Or go to places where you don't get personalized service and attention. Having an odd shaped head makes finding glasses hard for me but they know their frames inside and out and know which ones are shaped just right. Henry also is very good at picking out frames that I wouldn't have considered myself but after trying them on wonder why i didn't ever try something like that before. Also one of the nice perks about going here is the mirror with the camera built in. Having poor eyesight and trying on many frames that I can't see out of makes judging how well they look on yourself hard. But with the mirror with camera they'll take your picture trying on the various frames and then show them to you side by side on their computer which makes picking your favorite frame easy. Yes this place is a little more pricey than a lens crafters and they can't make your glasses in an hour but the personalized attention and detail they have to their work more than makes up for having to wait a few days for your glasses to come in. read more

Henry and Dr. Lee are the best! Henry will select several pairs of glasses for you to choose from. Take a chance and be a bit daring. He has never steered me wrong. I took my 70 year old mother to Henry and she loves her glasses. After years of the pearle and lenscrafters route, she took Henry's advice and went funky. Now all her friends want to know where she got those glasses. And Dr. Lee saw something during my mothers exam that she did not like, so she called a retinal specialist and made my mother an appointment. When is the last time a doctor made an appointment with another doctor for you?! Simply the best. May be a little more expensive, but you won't see yourself coming and going, and you will get more compliments then you can imagine. read more

love, love, LOVE this place!! I was looking for some new, chic glasses. I work in the loop and checked out a couple of places around the city, but didn't see anything that wowed me. So I went to the burbs. After visiting 7 eyeglasses stores - some of the bigger names and also a few boutiques - I ended up in Town Eyecare. As soon as I walked in I knew they had something for me. They had the best selection of attractive glasses I have ever seen. The store is owned by a very nice man and woman who do everything you need - from a thorough eye exam through ordering glasses and fitting them. They even helped me pick out what they thought looked best on me for my eye shape. To top it all off they had this amazing camera I've never seen before. You could look in to the camera and it would record how you looked in a certain pair of glasses (front and side views). You could do this with multiple pairs of glasses. Then you could look at the computer screen and have side-by-side views of the different pairs of glasses and how they looked on you. What better way to decide than seeing a comparison video of yourself!! I ended up picking out a pair of framless glasses. I was able to customize lens shape along with bridge and side colors. read more
