Excellent experience, we sat outside with a dog brought menus right away drink orders, taken right away, asked a couple questions about some of the food preparation's and off to the races. We were ready for a first course we ordered chicken and the pork tamale, let me stay I felt like they came out of grandma's kitchen. They were that good that fresh incredible texture nothing like I've had before.. For our next dish that we shared was a Churrasco, and it was cooked to perfection, medium rare to medium. The meat was extremely tender. The plantains cooked perfectly with a nice side salad, slice of avocado, with a slice a lot of lime, and a very interesting bean side dish-I guess maybe refried beans with some pork. I used to compare often in this restaurant, but the last orders I made were very bad, I ordered a roast beef sandwich and they prepared me chicken and the chicken seemed like it had been cooked the day before, thin, dry and tasteless. This is the 3rd time that the same thing has happened to us. Do not buy takeout at lunch time or dinner time because they are so busy that they send very bad food. read more

We tried the Latin American restaurant Mi Rosita tonight and the food was delicious. Our waitress recommended the churrasco steak and the garlic shrimp platters, which were flavorful and perfectly cooked. Looking forward to trying other items on their extensive menu. Decided to give this place a try because of the perfect reviews and the items on the menu looked very appetizing. When I first pulled up I didn't know whether they were open or closed, this place was a complete ghost town! At 2pm on a Monday I was expecting more then just the cook, the waitress and myself to be the only people at the location. I must say the restaurant was clean almost alittle to clean, like maybe it's so clean because they don't have many customers, but I digress. I was sorta greeted with "want food?" Um yeah why else would I be here? I quickly realized there is a major language barrier but don't let this deture you to coming here because this won't have any interference when ordering because the menu is mostly photos. I ordered the grilled chicken, rice, beans and slaw/salad togo. Service was quick and accurate, but the chicken was semi dry but I'm not sure if there is a correlation with the distance I traveled to find the place or was the chicken simply dry either way it wasn't that bad it was good just dry. The rice was simple plan rice so nothing fancy there BUT the bean OMG were perfect!!!! Not to thick, mushy or fake tasting but creamy and whipped perfectly. I should have ordered an extra side of just beans. I didn't try the salad/slaw concoction because it had a smell, wasnt unpleasent, I didn't think would satisfy my pallet. I also got a mixed (pork, beans and cheese) papusa which tasted pretty good. They also provided a red hot sauce that was flavorful and not to spicy. Overall I couldn't give them a 5 star just yet because of the chicken but for sure I would like to dine in in the very near future. read more

Finding this place was a pleasant surprise - I had been looking for a good Central American restaurant in Hunterdon County (which is rich in Italian restaurants and not much else). We ordered pupusas (cheese filled cornmeal pancakes) to start, and they came with curtido (pickled cabbage) and hot sauce. I got a Bandeja Catracha, which had steak with onions, marinated fried chicken, rice, beans, avocado, fried plantain, and a slice of fresh cheese. Along with a tamarind drink, it was all delicious! The steak in particular was seasoned really well. The waitress was super friendly, and spoke both English and Spanish. We'll definitely be coming back! read more

$6 for tap water??!! Was told to seat ourselves upon arrival, which is fine. However, the waitress had to be flagged down to get drinks, to order, to get our check... a pattern of never checking up on the guest. She never once asked us about our food. She also described a sauce as pink-ish... what does that mean? So clearly, we had poor service. Food. Chicken with cream sauce was good, but the "enchiladas" were really tostadas with cold chicken. Don't recommend. The kicker comes with the bill though. We were charged $6 for ice water. Not bottled water, but tap water. Huh? When asked she said, "for the ice." My husband pushed saying he'd never heard of this, then she shrugs and says "Latinos" and walked away. I love Latin food, but this was a disappointing experience. read more

Tamales- I have ordered tamales chicken several times and by far they are the best tamales in Flemington.

As others have mentioned at first glance you may want to turn around and leave due to the appearance but don't, that would be a big mistake.I have found over the years some of the best tasting food can be found in dive little hole in the wall places, this is exactly the case here. We began with the chips and green sauce they bought out to the table. That sauce should be bottled and sold in supermarkets. It was slightly hot with a nice touch of garlic, everyone at the table loved it. Two people at our table got the fajitas which came with chicken, steak and shrimp. Their sizzling platters were piled high and everyone raved about the seasoning. One person mentioned usually she would ask for sour cream and other accompaniments but this platter needed none of it as it was prepared so well. I had a steak dish with plantains. The cut of meat was much larger than expected and it too was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The most surprising thing to all of us at the table was how good the beans and rice were (all our dishes came with a side of them). I am going to have to ask for a few containers of those beans to go the next time I'm in the area. The prices are very reasonable for quality food like this and you won't walk away hungry in fact you'll probably walk away with a doggy bag. read more

This place is totally worth it. I lived down the street for years and never tried it due to the way it looks on the outside. That said I took two trips to Honduras last year and decided I had to check it out. What I can tell you is this is legit Honduran food and it is awesomely good. Try the tacos, papusas or the roasted meat dishes. EXACTLY like I had in country. Yes, the menus are odd, the service imperfect, and the digs are a bit of a dive.... but totally with it. I suggest you eat in the restaurant as travel does take a big hit on the food. Just put on you big boy pants and do it. It's worth it. Enjoy! read more

Okay so to begin with this is Honduran food, not Mexican!! ...so it won't be what you're expecting from Mexican food (though it will be similar) that said - the food here is delicious Honduran food! Our favorites (we've eaten here twice now) The mixed fajita with chicken, shrimp and beef. Fresh, tasty & delicious -- and served hot. The chicken quesadillas are tasty and come with beans, a salad that has a tasty, delicious, light & simple dressing and rice. The chicken with cream sauce and the jalapeño chicken are so tasty and while there is a decadence to the creamy sauce, it's not so rich that it makes you feel full or that you've overdone the richness & killed your diet! it's light, but complex... nice sauce All of the ingredients are fresh, I hope that this place does well! My one issue is that there is definitely a language barrier depending on which server you deal with -- that makes asking questions and looking for clarification difficult - but otherwise the experience was a four star. read more

Ive only gotten take out from here but each time ive never had an issue. My coworkers and I would order up to 8 meals at a time and each one always came out perfect. Although its pricey, the arroz cantones is amazing. It's huge and filled with meat, vegetables and avocado. So much flavor! HORRIBLE PLACE! so expensive and rude service! The food was never consistent as to what was on it each day. Sometimes soup would come with corn pictured on the menu other days it didn't! I ordered a burrito and it came with some nasty cheese on it that tasted old I took two bites and brought it back and asked if I could change my order. I changed my order to beef soup and it came with one piece of beef! And charged me 10$ so then I went to go pay and they refused to take the burrito order off! Her words were "it's not my problem you didn't like it" and smiled in my face. total bitch! Me and my co worker ate there almost 3x a week for 6 months and they treat us like that! Instead of waving a 5$ order they will be losing ALLOT more money now that we will not be eating there anymore. The kitchen is disgusting! Food and boxes all over the floor the waitress and cook are just total bitches. What a bad business move! Also in the beginning when we would eat there we would ask for water and they gave us tap and then all of a sudden they started to give us bottled water so they can charge us 3$. Although in a humble and easily missed location, this is a spectacular restaurant with the best cheese (and cheese and loroco) papusas in Central NJ. Their rice and beans are extraordinary. I got the tacos de carne asada and the plantains with cream. While I typically get my tacos from Viva Mexico, I decided to try Mi Rosita out. The online menu said that the tacos would only cost 6 dollars and the plantains would cost 3 dollars, yet my total, when I picked up the order, was a little over 14 dollars. So, just be warned that the pricing on the menu may not be accurate. The restaurant itself was tidy and clean. The first thing I noticed about the tacos was that the portion size was perfect. The portion size from Viva Mexico is pretty small in my opinion and more expensive. These tacos came with pico de gallo, plenty of beef, avocado, lime, and a small cup of green salsa. The ingredients used were super fresh and the tacos were very flavorful, something Viva Mexico lacks. However the beef in the tacos from Mi Rosita is of far less quality then Viva Mexico. The plantains were pretty tasty but I think that the chef accidentally put salt instead of sugar in the cream, so I had to toss the cream. Overall, I'm not sure if I would come back here. Although the tacos were very flavorful, I think I'd prefer higher quality meat. read more
