I used to work at a full line Nordstrom years ago, so I know quality when I see it. That's why I love the Rack because you can always expect good brands at better prices than you'd find at the full line store. To some people, Nordstrom Rack still feels a little pricey for a discount store, but you really have to compare it to the original full line price tags. I live in the NoDa area, and I will say this location was a bit farther out than I expected, about 25 minutes from my house. I was honestly surprised that there isn't a Nordstrom Rack closer to the city. This one is more on the outskirts, which is fine, but it does make quick trips or exchanges a little less convenient. Yes, you can return items at the full line Nordstrom, but sometimes you just want to browse and see what's new. Parking here was easy, and the store itself was clean and well organized. Coming from Houston and then Florida, I wasn't used to seeing so many coats in stock, so that actually caught my attention. They had a big winter selection, and I ended up leaving with a super cute trench coat, a puffer jacket, and a couple of other cold weather pieces since I know Charlotte winters are going to be colder. The staff was about as friendly as you'd expect at a Nordstrom Rack, but they moved quickly, and the checkout line wasn't long. Overall, this location was consistent with the other Nordstrom Racks I've been to. No surprises, just the usual dependable Rack experience. I'd definitely return.

The store was very well stocked and clean. You didn't see much on the ground from items knocked down. The items I found were priced very well. No complaints. There was so much variety here that you could spend a lot of time in this store. Upon checking out, I was greeted by a young lady. She asked me about opening a store credit card and I told her no thank you. Her demeanor changed, lol! I mean I'm sorry that I don't shop here often enough but also store credit cards are too limiting! But anywho...nice experience here and I would return.

The layout organizes garments first by color and then mostly by size. Depending on how you like to shop, this is either a plus or a minus. Personally, I'd prefer everything sorted primarily by size, though I can see the appeal of the color-block approach. I say "mostly" by size because, despite having size dividers, items still felt randomly scattered across the racks in a lot of cases. You can definitely stumble across some good finds here, but it's by no means a cheap shopping experience overall. Most of the discounted items fall into the $40-$50 range--though to be fair, the original MSRPs on a lot of these pieces were pretty ludicrous to start with. The biggest drawback, in my opinion, is the complete lack of any fitting rooms. Given the price point of the clothing and their strict no-return policy, this is a major hassle. If you plan to shop here, make sure you dress appropriately in advance so you can try items on over top of what you're wearing. Overall, you can probably find some great stuff, but you have to be prepared for the experience.

I love this store, but also love to dig and that has to be your point of view when shopping here…read more The dress selection is insanely good. All sizes from xxs-plus. Although they have a mix of new, used (they have a clothing rental business as well) and returned goods everything is mixed together and sizes can be muddled. If you see a sku on the tag these are items that were part of their rental business and are past prime so in essence it's a high end thrift item they are selling to the public. Everything is between $20-100 with most items falling for me around $50. I usually land out spending around $450 and walk away with a bag load of free people items.

They have a fabulous selection and variety of classi, elegant, and chic dresses for a fraction of the cost. They have a variety of long to short dresses. I was able to snag a cute short green dress with a white furry cover up to use for the couch ceremony. All for less than $100. All the other stores I was looking at before, the dresses were $100+. I definitely recommend this store if you are looking for a party dress on a budget. The employees were super friendly and efficient. I went on a Sunday around 1 p.m., and it was busy. When I do, I have frequently shopped the location inside Carolina place mall in Charlotte, NC for cute outfits. Needless to say, I had my last experience in the store due to a disrespectful employee and response from their district manager. I arrived to the store on a Saturday around 11:30a/12:00p, it was beginning to get busy as you would expect on a Saturday. Upon entering I looked around for a dress for a family wedding out of town and some cute outfits for other nights. I had about 5 dresses and 5 full outfits to try on. I waited in the area near the fitting rooms for a while, there were 3 people in line to pay and others waiting for fitting rooms, but no one able to find an associate. There are no carts, bags, or benches anywhere to sit heavy items down and only 3 of the 6 fitting rooms open (3 of which had a small piece of white receipt paper torn off with "closed" written on them and taped to the door). After waiting for what seemed like forever, unable to find an associate and the 3 rooms being occupied, my arm was giving out so I attempted to open the "closed" room and the door was unlocked. As soon as I walked in and sat my items on the bench, an associate appeared out of nowhere and when I opened the door, her response was, "don't you know how to read? It says closed." I understand being short staffed as many places are now, I understand being over worker and tired, but I'm sorry I will not tolerate blatant disrespect like that. I simply responded, yes I did see that, but I couldn't find anyone to ask if I could use it and my arm was tired with all these clothes. Is there a reason these 3 are closed? They were just open last week. Her response, "I don't have to give you a reason, an eye roll, and she walked away." Under my breath, I said, "wow, what a bitch." At this point I was so frustrated with the way she was talking to me. I came out, waiting for about 10 minutes for a fitting room, tried on my items, and my husband tried to pay for them. She would not let my husband pay because SHE was rude, then got her feelings hurt because I responded back to her level of rudeness. Not only that, she was African American, I am Caucasian and when I came out of the fitting room, she had allowed an African American woman into the fitting rooms she wouldn't allow me into. So, now not only was she rude, I had spent over an hour in the store and couldn't purchase my items, and she appeared to be nothing other than racist toward me. I will be sure to spread the word about this location and the disrespect and racism I was treated with. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Side note, the company apparently has a policy where she does not have to provide her name, so I couldn't even call and report her individually. All I can do is provide a photo of her backside. The associate supposedly spoke to her district manager who said I was banned from that location. What kind of company bans a customer, without speaking to the customer, AND when I did not harm anyone, made no threats, damaged nothing, did not make a scene, etc. STAY AWAY!!

Service Dog Denied Entry…read more I am leaving this review to document my experience at Southern Lion regarding access with my service dog. I have a service dog that assists me with a disability related to severe anxiety. My dog was wearing a clearly visible service-dog vest and was being transported in a stroller. When I attempted to enter the store, an employee told me that dogs were not permitted. I explained that my dog was a service dog and specifically stated that I was protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The employee responded that no dogs, including service dogs, were allowed in the store. She then stated that my dog could not be a legitimate service dog because, in her words, "service dogs are not in strollers." I explained that my dog was a service dog and offered to provide documentation. She told me she did not need to see any documentation because she did not recognize my dog as a service dog. The employee continued directing me toward the exit. I asked to speak with a manager and was told that she was the manager. When I asked who was above her, she responded that "the only person above me is G-d." While I was attempting to speak with another employee about whether they understood the ADA requirements, my dog barked once. The manager then stated that because my dog had barked, we had to leave. As we were leaving, the manager told me to "go ahead and call the police" and report her. I want to be clear about what concerns me most: under the ADA, businesses open to the public generally must permit service animals to accompany people with disabilities in areas where members of the public are allowed to go. The ADA also does not permit a business employee to determine that an animal is not a service animal simply because they personally do not "recognize" it as one. In addition, the ADA's service-animal provisions do not establish a requirement that a service animal must be walking beside its handler rather than being transported in a stroller. I am not claiming that every circumstance involving a service animal automatically requires a business to allow the animal inside. There are specific circumstances under the ADA where a service animal may lawfully be excluded. However, the reasons given to me were that the store does not allow dogs, that the employee did not recognize my dog as a service dog, that service dogs are not in strollers, and later that my dog barked once. I found the interaction particularly troubling because I attempted to explain that my dog was a service dog, offered to provide documentation, and asked to speak with management. Rather than discussing the ADA's requirements or addressing the situation appropriately, I was escorted out and told to report the employee if I wished. I hope Southern Lion will review what happened, provide appropriate ADA training to its employees, and ensure that customers with disabilities and legitimate service animals are treated respectfully and consistently with federal law. This review reflects my firsthand account of what occurred and the statements made to me by the employee.

I went to customer service to return and one item went through just fine but for some reason they were having trouble processing the other item. What irritated me was she the lady at the desk tried to process it once and pushed my item to the side and said she can't return it. She didn't even give me an explanation. I asked her why and she said she couldn't find the item. I showed her my invoice that showed all the info and she was still having trouble. She made it seem like that was it. I asked if there was a manager she could ask and she finally did. It was annoying because this whole process took 15 minutes! And she kept using different computers back and forth and they didn't have a merchandise credit card for my store credit at the desk. She had to call someone to bring it to her. We had a sales staff member come up and ask us if we had any questions or needed any help, but also explained how the layout was - firm beds on one side, medium in the middle, and plush on the other side, with some beds set up where they are split with both types. After that she let us be (much appreciated) and we just played like Goldilocks going from one bed to the next and back and forth to determine with ones we liked. We determined a couple top contenders with our favorite and decided to leave to do some research. Upon coming home to do research, I was shocked to see how over priced JCP was. JCP had the bed we were looking for on sale for $1800 in store, but then had it on even bigger discount at $1100 online. Why not advertise that price in store? Then I saw that a number of stores including Macy's, a mattress store, and Costco, all sold this same exact bed for $500-$700, so all these stores were within a reasonable range of one another except for JCP. Why? I didn't bother to go back or contact JCP online to see about price matching and instead ordered from Costco. JCP might want to start thinking about being in line with other stores and being more reasonable, or they will be on their way out like Sears.
