Ok I made myself out to be a liar and I went back to this Ross on 91st western. I needed some socks for myself and it's super cold outside and it's closest to me. Anyway, service and prices were fine. However, I observed everyone prior to me leaving the security officer was distracted because he was running his mouth and when I got ready to leave he ask to see my receipt. So I said "oh you pick and choose whose receipt you check"??? He completely ignored me and never checked the bag but he marked my receipt. Yelp community if i come to this Ross ever again, please please straighten me out. I'm too old to be bugged out by incompetent and selective processes. read more

I am the cologne queen. A long standing fan of every one you can think off that rocks... my husband and I. You know in the old days department stores gave you free gifts and samples but those are pricey and dwindling. My bottles at home dwindling and some old.... so on a shopping trip to Ross. I stood there looking up every scent in Google to see what it smells like. Google will tell you main scent, middle scent and underlying scent and if it lingers. It took me about 35 minutes to work my way around the shelf and they were all sealed and the real deal..not watered down. Senorita another great one. Perry Ellis 18 the bomb! Guess and many other great colognes all with my hints if sandalwood and lavender. I bought 12 bottles for about $150. Some pricier than others and beautiful bottles. They are all the lingering designer scents that are not cheap in department stores. It was a geek moment for me and I took those treasured bottles home that look like jewels on my dresser. That first spray and you know...it's a winner! The store is not heavily stocked, a mish mash of home items, broken and damaged furniture they will take another 10% off sales girl said, nice rugs, kitchen stuff, clothing ok, some items look worn. I go there mostly for home goods, pet supplies and other non essentials at good prices. You have to hit it just right to get the good stuff and I will have to ask what day the truck comes in for the future. read more

I took off my coat and put on the corner by the mirror try on a sweater. I walked around to the other side of the rack to see if i seen another sweater I liked. I come back 3 minutes later and my cost was gone. I walked around to see if anyone grabbed it or stole it and I didn't see anyone so I went up to the front and the security had it. They said a customer left it. REALLY? These employers are stupid. There were keys and a phone in the coat. Maybe ASK the people around u before you assume someone left it and taking it. I have mixed feelings about this store. I just shopped there today. I compare it to a low-key TJMAXX meets a thrift store, but add in some unique items and great prices. To me, it's better than Marshalls in Oak Lawn; Marshalls doesn't have a large home section for me. I love TJ but it's too far away in Crestwood for day-to-day shopping. Positives: -SUPERB prices on items, especially clearance. I just got my child a New Balance shirt for $2.99 and New Balance shorts for $4.99! Try to get that deal at Sports Authority or another retailer! - Unique items I can't find elsewhere...I found ceramic and metal wall hooks from India that look like Pier 1 without the price. I saw a Tommy Bahama lovely nonslip tub mat and other high end items for extremely good prices. -Great place to shop for gifts! They do have gift receipts too. -Decent enough clothes. Some big names like Calvin Klein, etc. The prices of the clothing, unless it's clearance, tends to be "average" kind of like TJMAXX. Their dress section is amazing, even plus size. So many choices. Many pretty summer hats. Not many (if any) really high end purses like you'll see at Marshalls or TJMaxx though. Negatives: -You cannot bring the cart out of the store to your car to unload. :( Really? Today I had 6-7 bags of heavy items (cutting board, mortar and pestle, and many other bulky items). -Lack of organization and tidiness. SLOPPY. Fully empty shelves OR packed shelves. Just weird! I found kitchen items in the shoe, pet, and beauty sections. It was ridiculous. If you see a soup ladle in the beauty section, move it back to the kitchen section, right?! -Women's clothing mixed in with men's, just odd. -Often slow checkout with a long wait, but not too bad. -Needs more expensive jewelry options. -Quite a few items didn't have sales UPC's, or were damaged. -Poor management. I often see the managers running the checkout. Hire more people and get back to managing the floor, directing employees to make the shelves neater, etc. -Security presence is strange for a lower-end store. Security at the door and at the entrance to fitting rooms. But all in all the pros outweigh the cons for me (for now)! I found some amazing stuff! read more

You're crazy if you frown down upon Ross!!!!! I am a Ross advocate. The only difference between Ross & its counterparts ( Marshall's, Burlington, Etc) is the organization of the store and the ugly staff uniforms. Other than that you find the same awesome deals!!!! Same exact brands! Sometimes $1 or $3 cheaper. This particular location I continue to find gems in the home decor area and I haven't rummaged through much else, thought I sure there are many treasures hiding in the other departments my pocket books is begging me not to look! Lol At this Ross location it is clean, organized and the staff is professional. What more can you ask for?? Great deals and if you're lucky, a smile on the way out. ;-) read more

This location isn't that large I believe the lad the largest location I've ever been to was actually out in Orland Park this location is pretty confined and inventory lacks most times that I'm in there I definitely need to grab a sales rep and find out when the new arrivals come in I think I am a popular average size of those garments tend to disappear or tend to be so rather quickly affordable they definitely are there in the same category and as department stores department stores I would say as TJ Maxx or filene's basement Marshalls they're all the same I don't know if they're the same or owners but they tend to have the same type of merchandise the same brand names A lot of the things seems like there are things that are out of season out of style dysfunctional that made me is not that noticeable to the naked eye they also have bedding towels shoes I definitely believe that the bedding Department in the towels are often good deals love the clearance racks household products are cheap there I wouldn't recommend the shoes that seem like a cheaper quality undergarment seem to be affordable as well read more

By looking at the commercial I thought that Ross would be so much different, they definitely fooled me! This was my first and last time going here! I would compare this store to a thrift store! The selection is horrible, everything is all scattered, you might as well try marshalls or burlingtons! And even still none are any better then the others. These stores are so unorganized and I hate these types of stores! If your looking for things to be in the correct place in a easy and organized manner this is not the store for you. read more

This location recently opened its doors. We always support local businesses whether they are chains or independently owned. The selection is not grand for men's clothing, and my wife did not find much appealing. We did however find some decent Halloween display items-- A unique pumpkin and house with lights, and I found a pair of jeans with a price tag that screamed bargain. Ah! but now I address the area of business that I find critical to customer retention and growth----CUSTOMER SERVICE. Utterly appalling to be the only person in line, with a CSR free at a counter, light indicating that the agent/rep was available and yet the rep decided to put away hangers rather than ring up our items. Then two reps argued as to which one should take us at the counter. I had to ask the rep if anyone was ready to take my money!! I hope this was an isolated incident and part of the learning curb to this store opening and not an indication of service development in the future. The deals may be good, but I am hesitant to return. read more

While going to the grocery store recently, I had some extra time and decided to stop into Ross next door and see what they had to offer. The commercial blitz they've had since they entered the Chicagoland market would lead one to believe that they had great deals. LO AND BEHOLD - I've never seen clothes so CHEAP in my life. I guess your prices have to be less than 1/2 of department stores, because the sweaters are too thin to wear in a climate such as we have, the shoes and boots were all plastic, and in general, the merchandise was cheesy. And then, they have the audacity to have an overabundance of employees w/jackets emblazoned LOSS PREVENTION on the back. Don't worry, buddy. NO ONE will steal clothes that cheap, it defeats the purpose. Who would buy them? In all fairness, maybe the housewares or other categories are decent, but I was so disgusted w/the clothes, I didn't even look. Have a nice day. read more

I use to like this store. But they have no registers open. The cashiers see the line getting long and instead of opening up they're fixing hangers contemplating wether or not they should open one. another time there was maybe 7 people in line the cashier instead of ringing up the next customer she shows another customer jewelry like really?! I don't know why they hire such lazy people. read more

August 09, 2014 This location of the Ross store opened only a few months ago, in a brand new market place mall. All stores are brand new and recently built on the former location of a golf course .The store is small, under staffed , and I only saw two employees working the registers. . The clothing on the racks looked like something from a second hand store. old and dingy. Shabby to say the least. Winter clothing at that. None of the items shown in their commercials was available. . I had out of town guests with me, who specifically wanted to go there. I was really embarrased that we had wasted our time. Please don't believe the hype about this particular location of Ross. It was a waste of time in opening this store , and bad use of a good location .First impressions are lasting ones. The merchandise displayed could not have been given away for free! I will never attempt to shop there again or recommend to family & friends. I will however give the newest location in Ford City mall a chance. In driving past this location which opened last weekend, the store is much bigger, well staffed, and appeared to be well stocked , with the latest merchandise advertised.
