Love shopping at Ross and the great deals but some workers at this location really need training on customer service. If you ever wondered if mean girls exist at an old age, they do. You will hear these older lady's talking smack and judging customers at their registers. How uncomfortable for customers to hear that. Don't you think that's a conversation for the break room or in private? If you hate people you should stay away from working in the front. Miss. Robin to be exact, can't crack a smile at customers, you say hi when you reach her register and get ignored, they always tell you to take off hangers off clothes to help the process quicker, helped her fold and bag the items I'm purchasing and she starts to THROW and BANG my items IM BUYING!!! Like are you out of your mind?! Go work in the back where no one sees you and your RUDE ATTITUDE! Her demeanor is diabolical. You would think at her old age she would have the skills and knowledge on how to treat a customer but nope, lacking HEAVILY. Ross is a high-quality department and specialty store that offers discounted prices and bargains for many name brands. Because of good purchasing power, Ross works directly with the manufacturers to negotiate the best deals, with savings passed on to the consumer. And there's no fancy advertising. And Ross gives back to the community by partnering with the Boys & Girl Club of America, which helps kids achieve academic success, build confidence, and lead healthy lives. The first Ross Dress for Less store opened in 1982 in CA. Ross is presently in 43 states with the exception of New England and Alaska. The HI Kai store has been operating for 16+ years. While this store is not as large as others in the State, many have noted that the HI Kai store has better products than other stores. I don't have an opinion on this, as I don't normally visit other stores unless I'm unable to find what I'm looking for at the HI Kai store. Ross Dress for Less has almost everything you can imagine: clothing, shoes, accessories, home décor, beauty products, toys, handbags, luggage, furniture, crafts, electronics, bath & bedding, kitchenware, food, electronics. I have used and continue to use Ross for the following reasons: * Toys. You can't beat the discounted prices off of name-brand toys, esp for Christmas and birthday gifts. Be sure to ask for a gift receipt for easy returns. * Children's clothing. I'm always looking for clothes for my grandkids, as they grow so fast and outgrow their existing clothes in no time. * Activewear. I like to wear Nike Dri-fit and other active wear around the house, and Ross has them at discounted prices! * Luggage. I always seem to be looking for the lightest luggage on 4 wheels, and many that are brand names, for upcoming travel. * Bath/bedding. You'll find towels, shower rack, clothes hamper, bed sheets, mattress pads, pillows, and bed spreads in my home, and they're all from Ross! Huge discounted savings! * Paper products. I love the printed tissue papers in varying colors, gift bags, craft scissors, etc. used for gift giving. * Journals. I'm always on the lookout for journals that I use for daily Bible devotions journaling. * Furnishing of condo rental. Ross was a lifesaver when we got our condo unit, as we had to furnish it for rental. Lots of things that were needed: bar stools, kitchen utensils, dishes, bedding, shower curtain, bath towels, small appliances, trash can, cleaning supplies, lamps, pots & pans. * Seasonal. I look forward to celebrating holidays with décor around the house, e.g., spring pastel tablecloths and Easter appliques, Christmas holiday cheer furnishings, Chinese New Year gold/red dragons, etc. I am amazed at the huge savings of items, many brand name and designer names, at prices significantly lower (20% to 60%) than department stores. With the high turnover of inventory, it's important to purchase the items you want before it disappears into the hands of another purchaser. Yes, at times I feel like I'm on a fun treasure hunt, as you never know what you'll find in discovering unique and discounted merchandise with the constant changing inventory! As I usually go first thing in the morning, staff is friendly and willing to help. Merchandise is neatly stocked on shelves. This contrasts with the afternoon at this store and at other locations where staff may be tired, and merchandise has been picked over and is messily strewn on the floor and misplaced on the shelves. Also wished that the front doors open automatically instead of manually opening the doors, which makes it difficult if you have a lot of merchandise or a wagon. And it's usually Tuesday morning that I'm there, as every Tuesday is designated as senior discount day, with 10% off of merchandise if you're 55 years of age or over. Hours of operation are Mon to Sat 8:30a to 10:00p and Sun 8:30a to 9:00p. Ross is located in the HI Kai Towne Center, in the same complex with Costco HI Kai and Raising Cane. Free available parking in the private lot, however, parking may be a premium but spaces open up. Yup this is my retail therapy and yes there are negative pros and cons shopping here but it's still five star regardless as all I can say about Ross...thank you as they provide amazing finds if you take the moment to browse which is very therapeutical lol! This Hawaii Kai Towne location isn't the largest though I did find some favorite items at this location sometime I think it's the layout as having a smaller sales floor does make it less overwhelming to go through each aisle which is very narrow here finding it frustrating to walk pass a shopper with a shopping cart as some aisle makes it impossible to browse pass them. The staff here is a delight as I bring my purchase with getting a huge compliment CUTE! We chatted a bit and loved the price is a fraction in comparison to other shops. Shopping in Hawaii Kai, Honolulu, Hawaii... I suddenly got a great idea for a birthday gift - and I was hoping to find it at Ross... I like Ross because it has: a good return policy; reasonable prices; wide variety of merchandise; and many locations. This Ross in Hawaii Kai was the closest one to me today. I easily found free shared parking at Hawaii Kai Towne Center and walked into the wonderfully air conditioned store! I scanned the items that I usually look at (pet toys, shoes, personal care items, kitchen gadgets, and stationary), then focused on the task... My friend often needs to charge her phone. It worries me because it seems happens a lot. She does have an external battery, but for some reason, she forgets to bring it with her. It's an easy fix - just give her a cute, small charger, right? I was just looking for a jar in here for my cotton pads. But as usual, I ended up for something else. I got myself a new shoulder bag again. Twice this year. Kind'a guilty, but I can't simply pass this time because I rarely love shoulder bags that makes my life comfortable. Let's just say, an advance gift for thanksgiving. LoL. Located in Hawaii Kai Towne Center, this Ross location is undoubtedly the BEST LOCATION ever existed in isla Oahu. Packed with different goodies from clothing to shoes, bags & toys. People working in here too are friendly! Indeed a gem location! How I wish the ones in Keeamoku is as packed as this location. I could stay in here the whole day, scouting some nice buy in here! People went crazy when Ross opened back up after they were closed for so long during quarantine. Never knew people loved Ross so much. Saw the huge lines for Ross and I thought that people were just so crazy. I decided to check it out this past weekend. I'm a terrible daughter and I waited until the last minute to get a Fathers Day present. So I went to Ross with the intent to get some shorts for my dad. Because so many people went to Ross after quarantine there really wasn't a lot left. I went to the men's shorts section first. The shorts are cheap but I just didn't think it was his style so I didn't get any for him. And I figure since I was there I might as well look around. They changed the racks and it is so high now. I swear it's like getting an arm workout just to look through the clothes, haha. They really have some treasures though and I know why so many people rushed over there. I saw some bug Samsonite suitcases for like $50 each. I didn't need any suitcases since we're not going anywhere especially with this pandemic going on. But then I looked in the backpacks section. I've been asking for a new backpack but I can never find the brand I want and the style I want. Well low and behold, they had the brand I liked and it was so much cheaper. Normally they are about $50 but I found it for $19.99. What a deal! I kept searching for more styles and then I found another one. I kept trying it on and looking at it in the mirror to see which one to buy. Well I couldn't decide and just ended up buying both, haha. When I got home my husband said,"why do you need two backpacks? You only have one back." What a fail. I didn't get my dad a gift and instead I bought myself two things. Fail. Hawaii Kai Ross is my favorite & best of all Ross stores. They provide nice variety of things such as clothes, shoes, bags, bedding, towels, dog & household items. Also, unlike other Ross stores - this store is kept clean and organized. Would be even better if they regularly had more staff at registers to ring up customers' purchases & returns - instead of having long lines of customers waiting . Noticed they have staff on the floor who could work at registers instead of remaining on the floor stocking items or talking with each other. It's also nice to be consistently (instead of now & then) greeted by security/staff as you enter the store -especially since registers & security person are located near entrance. read more

Shame on me for not writing a review for this Ross. It the most convenient one for me, and definitely the best Ross on the island! I can't say I've been to ALL the Ross stores, but I can say I've been to 80% of them on Oahu at least once. The most common theme of Ross stores is the lack of cashiers and employees, and competent managers or lack thereof. Second thing might be the disorderliness of everything or lack of items. Whatever it is, there's always a frustrating issue. Well, not at the Hawaii Kai Ross! This store is located in the Hawaii Kai Towne Center with Costco and City Mill. It's on the City Mill side, so you avoid the Costco parking madness, and can easily find a parking spot. This Ross is big, organized, well-stocked, and organized. The employees are friendly, and there's more than one cashier! And when there's a line building, more cash registers will open up. There's definitely a lot more variety of items, larger selections, quality items, and unique items you can't find elsewhere besides probably Amazon. I'm a big fan of bamboo bedding, and this Ross carries a lot of variety and consistently has Queen size. Elsewhere, it's just King or Twin. Even though, Ross is already a good deal on most things, I just love saving more. Their clearance items are great! The prices reduce a lot more than Marshall's or TJ Maxx. I found so many great deals for useful and necessary items on clearance. Ross is also a surprisingly good place to grab a large bottle of alkaline water for a cheap price without the bottle tax! Nancy at this location is very nice & friendly Unlike & unusual from all the other staff that works at this location & all others that i go to. Such as the Ward, Moilili, Ala Moana & Kahala. I like that they have alot of merchandise but sometimes i cannot get my shopping cart through! Almost took down 2 lamps with that pole that they have attached. I always scan the childrens clothing and toys section first (been very lucky with Hello Kitty outfits lately !!! ), then the video section by the checkout has $3 kiddie videos like Max & Ruby, Franklin & Barney, and lastly the household area where I frequently find cookbooks and cute stationary type items. You're in Hawaii... why did you visit Ross Dress For Less? At the Polynesian Cultural Center, we had much fun, and had a great virgin pina colada, served by the fine staff at Fia Fia Farms from the inside of the pineapple. Our daughter and I watched them make it... they had some curved thing with a knife on the end that carved the pineapple slices out of the pineapple and left the outside behind, as a natural cup/mug to drink from. When we asked, the lady shared that the device is called a "pineapple puncher corer," because it punches out the middles and cores the pineapple... and creates the circle slides we all love so much. Sadly the Polynesian Cultural Center does not sell the puncher corers but their staff thought Ross Dress For Less did, and they do. Do we visited and found two puncher corers... we brought one back for family friends. While there, our daughter found another pair of tennis shoes, and these had a color that looked so much like the green blue Pacific Ocean, so how could we refuse. The store is nice and the staff friendly... and thanks to then we have had several virgin pina coladas at home, made possible with our pineapple corer... the first one in our new home was standing on the patio, for 30 seconds, barefoot in the first snowfall of the year... thinking how only four months to the day before we were in Hawaii enjoying one-a-day on our great 2018 summer family vacation! I've been shopping at the various Ross stores since they came to the island........although they are a mainland big box store, I'm glad they came and established themselves within the island community. There was a time on the islands where there was no competition, and Liberty House use to rule everything when I was a kid. My parents use to wait for those Zooper sales, & Rainbow sales to buy our clothes for the new school year. When I went to school, I'd find 3 or 4 of my buddies with the same "cheap sale" shirt from Liberty House.........Lol! (probably from the Zooper Sale). Oooops, got off course..........about Ross, if you are looking for name brand items at dirt cheap prices...........this is the place to go! Of course all Ross stores are a hit or miss thing......... you just have to be at the right place, at the right time to hunt and capture your special treasure. That is part of the fun, & beauty about shopping at Ross! The Hawaii Kai store - I particularly like, as when I go here, I always seem to find something special off of the "clearance" rack. Whenever I go to this Ross I head straight for the housewares. It's always worth checking out. I usually find things I didn't know I needed or wanted! They've got pet items, kiddies toys, clothing, accessories and furniture. Lots and lots of frames for some reason. I can never find women's shoes when I come here. The smaller sizes always seem to go out fast and if you're under a Size 7 then there is usually not much of a selection. It's usually true of most Ross stores, but more so at this store, at least for me. And though they have tons of clothing I can never can find any, but that's just me. I hate going through those racks, and envy people who can find things. This Ross is really nice. Most times it's always neat, and the employees are pleasant and helpful. The "new" line system for the cashiers is less chaotic and faster even if you have to go past displays of food and candy. The last time I went there the cashier asked me if I belonged to the "Tuesday Club". That's a nice way of asking if you're a senior. Anyone 55 and older receives a 10% discount on Tuesdays. No sign-up needed, just show them your ID. All in all a nice place to shop. But I just have to ask...Am I the only one that thinks Ross' blank front windows are wasted space? It makes the place look closed or empty. How about some frosted windows on the bottom half so potential customers can see the lights inside. It would look more inviting. Most everyone knows that Ross has nice hidden gems on clothes and shoes. But they also have a nice pet section. Heavy ceramic food and water bowls are around half the price of what you will find at a pet store. I also bought a nice dog cage for only $49.00. Where else are you going to find a UH shirt for your pet. I like this Ross as there is tons of parking, not too much people here unlike other ones where you stand in a line that seems like it's moving in slow motion Over here the lines are way shorter and I think the cashiers are way faster. I have some mixed reviews about Ross stores in general. The specific problem I have found with this particular branch is that I always seem to get EXTREMELY SLOW cashiers assisting me. Yes, I somehow know exactly how to choose them. The last time that I was there I was behind a woman who apparently was a realtor returning over 60 items that she had used to "showcase" a house she was trying to sell. And of course there was a discrepancy with the total she paid versus the total that they were willing to credit. Yes, that was fun. But I patiently waited in line as I always do to pay for the few items that I found for such a great deal! I also don't care for the weird stench that seems to emanate from their dressing rooms. I'm not sure what it is with all of their branches' dressing rooms, but they all seem to have a horrible stench to them. Eww... I would only shop here if you have the time to shop among the crowds, go hunting through their messy shelves, dirty dressing rooms and waiting in line. I love a good treasure hunt. I remember the first time my mom took me to this Ross in Hawaii Kai. Now, I'm not one for shopping. I'm just not that kind of girl. But as I said before, I love a good treasure hunt. The staff here keeps the shelves organized. Thus helping me navigate to my hidden gems. You can find namebrand items here at fractions of the cost. I am not a fashionista at by any stretch of the imagination but I feel as though I have done fine here. Tuesday is senior day where people over age 55 get a 10% discount. I remember how excited my mom was when she turned 55 and we went to Ross that following Tuesday. We find all sorts of treasures here: clothes, shoes, household goods, and even decorations. There is a distinctive smell of Ross. Perhaps it is all the pheromones of people in overexcitement for such great savings. Need this to say mom and I will be back on Tuesday. read more

Alright I think I should finally write a review about this Ross. Why I love this Ross: Ross is one of my favorite stores to shop because of the deals! Beddings, furniture, storage, women's clothes, electronics, kids clothing, men's clothing, purses, shoes and MORE! I personally believe this store is the cleanest Ross on the island and I really enjoy shopping at this one the most. When I feel like redecorating my house this is the place I come too, they have items for the bathroom and pretty much every room in the house. The prices are unbelievable! Some items you can find on clearance for super cheap as well! Designer items are up to half off, what gets better then that!? The staff is always friendly, I've never had a problem here, sometimes I'll admit that when it's slow the staff does talk story and sometimes ignore customers but hey I can't complain, I'd rather shop here because the aisles are clean and organized. This is seriously the best Ross I've ever been in. They have SO MUCH STUFF. When we sold all our crap and moved to Hawaii, we had to buy all new household items and we got most of it here. Shower curtains, towels, plates, pots and pans-- all so cheap and cute. I couldn't believe it. Cons are, like others say, super slow cashiers. But every Ross store I've ever been in has slow cashiers. I think it's how they get trained. AND I will say that the fitting room does indeed stink to high heaven of B.O. It has every time I've been in there. Is it an employee? A long-lost T-shirt stuck someplace? It's super stinky. They should clean it all with bleach or something. read more

Best Ross ever! Since it's the holidays, Ross is my go-to for kids toys and stocking stuffers. You get the best deals, and this is important when it comes to my six year old who is still in the quantity vs quality stage. When compared to other Ross stores, we also found this one to have so much more inventory in stock than the two other stores we usually go to at Kahala and Mo'ili'ili. Maybe it doesn't have as much foot traffic and that's why the inventory sort is so much better? It just doesn't seem as picked through. This visit we got: -Salt & pepper grinders (they are gorgeous) -Nike womens sneakers (not to brag, but they are very stylish and my husband is jealous they don't have them in mens size) -Toys for my nephew, niece and a friend's daughter for Christmas (prices ranged from $6.99-$11.99) -Hair chalk for my daughters as stocking stuffers (I will most likely regret this purchase because the chalk will be everywhere, lol) -Velvet mini backpack for my daughter's upcoming 7th birthday (I can already hear her screaming with delight when she opens it up) -Roasting pan (for our Thanksgiving turkey) My advice for any Ross shopper is to go very early, or be prepared to wait in line to check out. HOWEVER, there is one really rude security lady that works there with long hair and eyeglasses and she just assumes your there to steal. This store may seem small, but it's neatly packed with so much items! I had a pleasant time browsing the store for an hour while waiting for Costco to put on my new tires. I could've stayed in their longer, but I would probably end up buying things I couldn't carry while waiting 3 more hours for my car. But I digress, there's a wide variety here. It reminds me of the location near Ala Moana as they have lots of luggage and travel related items in stock. If you're a fan of organizing, they have both hard and collapsible bins, trays and containers. Picture frames, Art and products for our furry family members are available. Of course there is a lot of clothes. I like the fact that they actually carry many items for both women AND men, girls AND boys. Some stores tend to only carry a few items for boys which makes it difficult for me to shop for them. (It makes me feel better if I'm trying to shop for everyone and not just myself!) While I personally didn't ask for assistance, the staff seemed pretty nice. They greet you at the door, seemed to know their regulars and I saw some of them restocking items. As with all Ross stores, you will have to be patient and hunt. The joy is when you find what you want for a fantastic price! Ross and Marshalls are my go to stores, and nothing is going to change that. Well expect for the fact that Hawaii doesn't have Marshalls but they do have T.j. Maxx which is owned by the same company. At the current moment this is the closest store to my casa. It's huge...and has a whole lot of nothing... I don't mean nothing nothing but they don't have anything special that pops up. People go to Ross to find amazing things for amazing prices. You can still find amazing prices here but not so much amazing stuff. Only thing I noticed is they have a lot of options for bedding so that's a plus if you are looking for bedding stuff. Plus one of the loss prevention guys kept walking around the store and staring down at people. Here is the thing, they are not security. They are normal Ross associates that are told to put a vest on and intimidate shoplifters. I have 2 family member and 1 friend that works for the company. If they touch someone trying to steal they lose their job. They are supposed to stand by the door and make sure no one steals but this guy in particular tried to stare everyone down. Please calm down, you can't scare me, I am not stealing and there is probably multiple people walking out the door with things while you are trying to play hot shot all the way in the back of this Ross, furthest away from the exit, lol. read more

They have the best deals on name brand items and you can find anything you need here! After breakfast on a Sunday morning we waited for them to open the doors at 10:00am. Just a minute before the opening hour we were greeted by a friendly sales staff and held the door for all of us. My friend was on a mission to find velvet hangers for her clothes and she didn't find it in the usual spot where they keep household items but we just decided to walk around. We finally found them on the other side of store. I really enjoyed this store because Ross is already a discount store but they had another place sectioned for clearance items! We have been loyal customers of Ross Dress for Less Hawaii Kai since they first opened. We are long-time Hawaii Kai residents. We have been taking our daughters shopping here since they were babies. Last night, when my 13-year-old daughter was trying something on in the dressing room, my husband and my other daughter waited for her by quietly sitting in the lawn chairs in the furniture section nearby. It was close to end of business, and they were quite worn out. My husband was waiting to open his wallet and buy something for his daughters. A security guard came over and made them get up. He was rude and young, and quite possibly didn't recognize us as regular, mellow, long-time loyal customers. Instead we got treated like we were homeless loiterers waiting to steal. That security guard was on a power trip. Must have missed the cut for HPD. As a result, after about 15 years of loyalty, we will never return to Ross Hawaii Kai again. This wasn't the first and only time something creepy has happened to us here. We've been berated for returning items with tags and receipts by the manager, I've been doubly charged for a scarf and I've either been ignored or closely followed by the employees. I guess some people go to Ross to shoplift, but we don't. In fact, now we don't shop at Ross Hawaii Kai. read more

I'm giving 5 stars not for the selections but for an employee named Tia who is great at multitasking. I have observed her to greet every customer and acknowledge everyone that leaves while she is working the register. She be an asset to a good company later. read more

I agree with Tamara, the cashiers are seriously working at super snail speed! I almost hit menopause waiting to pay for my stuff the last time I was there. And the funky Crayola crayon plus musk odor that just radiates from the fitting room... not good. That being said, I do heart Ross because of the random gems I find, especially at this location! Super cheap Jansport bags, great little clothing items for less than ten bucks, and the insane amounts of Harajuku Lovers goods that I found for a friend there... sweet deal. Just make sure you're not in a rush, and hold your breath when you go to try things on! read more

Definitely the best Ross I've been to on Oahu. I always find amazing treasure in the back aisles and the cashiers are always sweet. However, I'm taking off one star just because of that horrible stench in the dressing rooms. Here's a tip from my mother, who is an avid Ross shopper: NEVER try anything on in this store. EVER. It will be a waste of time and you will probably come out smelling like the dressing rooms. Simply buy what you plan on trying on and return the unnecessary items at your next visit because the return line is always shorter than the checkout line. read more

Once upon a time...My boyfriend paid full price for his Nike shoes and Dolce & Gabana wrist watches. Then he met me and I introduced him to my friend, Ross. They've been friends ever since. Haha! I try to avoid paying full price for anything for our home and our dogs. I prefer to spend my hard earned cash on a trip to Vegas or a relaxing spa treatment. It's nice to have this location only five minutes from my house. It's always clean and organized. They have a good selection of merchandise and the staff is nice. Parking isn't complicated here, and it's never really crowded unless it's during the holidays or on some weekends. read more

I am waiting in line to pay.cashier rings up the person in front of me,they pay and leave.Then a girl with a Ross bag walks in and wants to return items.instead of calling me (I have only one thing that I am going to buy)calls the girl over to make the returns. The cashier knew I was waiting,as she looks at me and says "I'll make this return first" After waiting for a couple of minutes of waiting, I said forget it and leave.I just felt that was not right!!!!! read more
