I have mixed feelings. Great price for value on items and the staff is terrible. And I am also aware they are overworked, undervalued and underpaid. The lined are long (about 20 minute wait to check out) and no one wants to help. Plus you need to carry your things out and if you have plenty items it will be a while. I will NEVER EVER shop at any other location! THIS ONE IS IT!!!! Ross is already my most favorite place in the world to be. However, this particular location has SO MUCH STUFF! If you are going to visit, either know what you are going in for OR set aside 2 hours out of your day to dig through everything. I found so much amazing stuff, I felt the need to guard my basket!!! Ross..... Some love it, some hate it. It all boils down to how far are you willing to go for a bargain. Yes, the lines are long and it can be a bit chaotic at times, but with deals like these, it's always worth taking a look around. This particular location is extremely busy during peak hours. I will admit though, the employees work hard here. It's not a complete mess like others I have been to in the past. Keep up the good work. Today I felt like browsing for dresses, so I decided to call Mom to spend some quality shopping time and ...ahem, use her Senior Discount. Hold on, hold on, that's right, bring your mom if she's 55 or older and get that 10% discount on Tuesdays. Saving money, and spending QT with the Moms. Double win! The dress selection was plentiful and they seemed really well stocked with all kinds of cocktail dresses. I was excited. But here comes the sad part: when I found a dress without a price tag, it was difficult to round up an associate to price tag it. Long story short, a Ross employee suggested that I bring a similar dress to the cashier, but the manager/cashier didn't "buy" it and had me and Mom wait until she had another person check the price. The manager/cashier claimed that it was worth "much more" and wanted to suspend our transaction to help the person behind us. I was like, "Whaa Whaatt?" But luckily, the employee brought it back, priced at a mere $8 more than the similar dress we were instructed to present at the cashier. It's not the price difference or having to wait; rather, the way the manager/cashier handled it. She said as she looked at the original/similar dress and said, "Oh no that won't work" and called for a price check. She never told me what was going on. No communication. If it wasn't such a great dress, I would have not wanted to buy it, and never want to go back. But you know how it is, it's a Ross, that's how things are, but it sucks. I give them 5stars for great prices and selection, but a zero in customer service. So that would average to a 2.5, but with the 10% discount (thanks Mom!), we will bump it up to 3stars. Fair? If I could give it zero stars I would. Growing up I have always loved Ross they always had great deals and cute clothes but it has just grown to be so ghetto. Terrible service the workers are sooo slow the line is always wrapped around the whole place regardless of how busy or slow it is. Nothing is organized it is just a mess and the workers are also very rude. Probably will not be going back to this establishment. read more

This place has dramatically gone down the hill and isn't coming back. It reminded me of one huge garage sale. It seemed as if everything was out of place or people are purposely hiding clothes to buy it another day. Who knows but, they really need to hire managers with good organizational skills. And I agree with KK the check out line can be a nightmare! Standing in line that wraps around the store is just ridiculous... Open some more registers people! No one should have to wait more than 10 minutes to check out! 45 minutes is out of the question!! Think of the elderly people and how swollen their feet will be by the time they get home! This place is fkn horrible!!!!! The staff does not know how to keep a fkn line moving. I went in there today and stood in line for 30 fkn minutes!!! One lady could have rung others and set the customer who needed a price check to the side. Then the dude I had kept swiping my damn card after I done told him their device don't work. Like every other ross in the country. TRASH HOLE. I hate how the cashiers call you before they're ready that's just disrespectful. Their fitting rooms also don't have locks so you have to hang on the door for dear life. And this one time I had heavy furniture an i couldnt take the cart out no one offered help they just said sir, the cart has to stay in. Eh, it's a Ross, but once in a while I can spot a decent find here. Nothing high end of course but maybe some cute Jessica Simpson shoes on clearance or something equivalent. This is kept pretty orderly compared to some of the other ones I've seen... but that doesn't say a lot. I spend an evening at the store shopping for my self, husband, soon to be born baby and our house. Have chosen a few things, all items were tagged and had sensors, at the time of checkout the dress was tagged and had sensor on it we learned that was mislabeled by someone. The tag that was attached to the dress and the sensor was wrong. Nonetheless the misrepresentation or mistake happened on Rosses account, someone from the store made a mistake , difference was $9 and Ross refused to take responsibility for their wrong doing. I asked to see the manager but he did not care to resolve the issue or help customer. He said that if I have a complain, there is a number on the door I should call. Basically told me to get lost. When I did calm the number I reached the same ignorant and arrogant manager , who said , well I don't care , go online and get a corporate number. How do they even employ people like that. We needed up leaving all items at the store and I will never be coming back. Sadly I did not videotape the indigent and the way the handled it, I am sure i could have found a lawyer to get some money from the company, considering the way they spoke to me, how upset I was getting and being pregnant it's not healthy , I am sure I would have had a case. I purchased my husband a pair of guess brown dress shoes for $34.99, they were awesome! My husband never likes when I purchase new shoes for him because of the break in period, however these new shoes required NO break in, he loves them. if you are a mother and are planning to take your child to ross with you , do not go. i recently went to this ross in katy; the one on fry and ih 10 and i was going to try something on and they did not let me bring in my own child to the dressing room. they actually wanted me to leave him out there unsupervised just because they had their so called "security." their ignorant arguement was that my child was a boy and was going to be looking at the women in te fittng room, i mean who has a sick perverted mind to think that a 10 yr old is going to be looking at women . and mainly my child was going to be with me , his mother not wandering into other peoples rooms. i am truly disappointed and furious to think people have this type of mentality. even when you go to the mall; which is so much high quality than this store, they let you take your own children in the fitting rooms with you. ross at fry and ih 10 and the manager, and all the staff need to seriously go get checked by a doctor because for you to be thinking dirty about a child you seriously have problems!! read more

Ross is in no way a top of the line store. I shop here for bargains. On today I was disappointed to be followed around the store by the Lisa prevention guy tall dark hair with glasses! I immediately ended my shopping and left my basket with everything in it when I realized he was profiling blacks and only watching certain shoppers. First there is nothing worth stealing in this store! Jail is not a place I will be going over a 9.99 item. I was also angry that he decided to tell my 7 year old he shouldn't run in the store! He stopped to tie his shoe and tried to catch up with me because I kept going. Sir if you want to be a parent I suggest you have some children of your own. Until then keep collecting your 9.00 an hour and stand at the door and make sure the security tags are disabled before customers leave out the door! Dang! This is the worst Ross I have ever been to. My wife's sister brought me here for some socks. Back home, in Phoenix, Ross is our go to spot for clothes and stuff on the cheap. This (Fry RD in Katy) Ross store is better than the other's i've been to in TX. They all lack assistance and are pretty out of order. I do like the clothing.. when I can find something. I came in to return a dress I purchased in San Antonio. The lines were ridiculously long. After waiting, patiently, for 20minutes in line it was finally my turn. I never ended up wearing this dress so the receipt and dress have remained in the bag since my original purchase on 10/13/17. The man helping me couldn't locate the tag on the dress. Ok, not my fault. I never took the dress out of the bag. He then tells me I would need to drive to the store in San Antonio to return it. Umm... why would I drive 4 hours to return a $15 dress??? No. I then ask for a manager. He points across the store and goes "she's over there" obviously I said "great, get her over here..". Mind you, I'm not about to wait another 20+ minutes in line for something that is an easy solution. He looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language and shouldn't be asking such a thing. l am giving a 1 star review because all he had to do was adjust the line item and I could've been on my merry little way... but no. Wow - I should have read the reviews before going to this store. They CLEARLY do not train their employees who are working on the check outs. Although I was not in a hurry, the cashier CLEARLY ignored me and waited on someone else who arrived AFTER me. When that customer pointed out I had been waiting longer TWICE, the cashier went ahead and ignored me because I was returning something. Incredibly TACKY. I have been in customer service for over 20 years and have never felt compelled enough to write but this cashier was clearly in the wrong and needs to be RE-trained. Most stores in Katy have wonderful personnel who genuinely are friendly and helpful. This woman needs to get a solitary job instead of a people job. read more
