    Ask the Community - HomeGoods

Hello, I've seen HomeGoods on a bunch of "pet friendly" stores, however nothing on the official website. Just curious, is HomeGoods / this particular location dog friendly?

Really not sure . I have never seen a pet inside .

The store is jammed with such a large variety of items that I can't find the appropriate category which to label them. The store has something of interest for everyone. It appears to feature small businesses in kiosk size stations of clothes, sauces, jellies, seasonal items, home decorations and the list goes on forever. The store draws you in to explore looking for what you'll find around the corner or next isle. This isn't my typical style of shopping so I can't determine whether the items represent a good value, however, I didn't go into sticker shock at any point.

As for the vendors that are there, I feel like painted tree should do a better job veting who can get a booth. Some of the items looked like they were just from Harwin. If you go down the main middle aisle it's usually the best vendors. Once you go further away from the center the weirder things get. Because it has a bunch of random vendors you can sometimes find a dress at more than one vendor and just check prices and grab the cheapest one. Happened to me today. Vendor right across the aisle had the same dress for $10 cheaper. The dressing rooms are clean and sometimes they have a live band in the back of the store. You can find so many items here and the prices depending on the vendor can be really great! I guess it's kind of like a flea market but for boutiques or vendors. If you come just wear comfy shoes cause you will be walking a lot!!

They have the infrastructure, client base, talented stockers and access of locale to usurp Nordstrom Rack and similar models. Their inability to achieve that level of quality, however, is purely self-inflicted. They are clearly allergic to the concept of quality customer service and err on the side of caution, in treating the customer as poorly as possible, lest someone accidentally become confused and forget that they are shopping at Ross+. Instead of settling for being the Target of discount stores, and at times making a tangible effort to become the Walmart, why not get out of your way and pretend to know the meaning of the term "customer service?" I am including two pictures of the two Jack Spade bags I found at this store, and you will easily be able to understand why Marshall's can't have nice things (the larger of the two was damp and smelled like mold). It's bad enough that you treat your treasures like trash, but your employees are categorically opposed to the idea of a customer ever daring to set foot in their domains again. If you want to be better, you have to do better first.

If you want to dress for less, try Ross. This Ross in Richmond is not a bad one, and one which Barbi usually comes to on a fairly regular basis. She thinks it's pretty good and I have to say she's not too far wrong, as she really finds some good stuff here every time we come, and like many other Ross locations it can be a gold mine for finding good stuff. Come and check it out for yourself.  I don't often give 4 stars to chain discount clothing stores, but when I do... you should get in the car and Ross over here.

However, after checking out, I was not informed about the specialty tags that, once removed, would make the items non-returnable, even in case of a manufacturer defect. One of the items I bought was the Sleeveless Lace Fit & Flare Midi Dress. It was beautiful and the size I tried on in the store fit perfectly. However, on Easter, while waiting for my boyfriend to get ready, I realized that the tiny shoulder straps were not holding up the dress properly. After just ten minutes, the weight of the dress caused the straps to slide down, revealing about four inches of my bra. Not wanting to leave the house with my bra showing, I decided to return the dress. When I explained the situation to the store, they informed me that the $250 dress could not be returned. Despite my explanation, they allowed me to leave the store with the dress. Frustrated with this experience and the amount of money I had spent, I wanted to return the rest of my purchases due to concerns about potential manufacturer defects and this particular situation. The store workers initially resisted my request, but when I mentioned contacting the district manager, they quickly changed their stance and offered me a store credit. However, I was still at a loss of money and left with only a store credit. To make matters worse, the store workers inspected the dress as if I had worn it extensively outside my house, treating me with less than human respect. They even pointed out a tiny light yellow dot on the dress. After I stated AGAIN I never wore this dress outside the house and maybe it happened in the store she didn't say anything. My mom who has work in retail for over 40 years was on the phone while this whole experience was going on was Appalled. PLEASE TRAIN YOUR STAFF ON MAKING SURE THE CUSTOMER IS AWARE OF YOUR RETURN POLICY. This might be the first time in my life a retailer didn't explain this. Clearly after spending 2,000 you can assume greed was involved. I am disappointed with this whole experience and the way the store handled the situation.
