This review is solely based on the short experience I spent here a moment ago. The 1 star is for the specific loss prevention individual that seems to be the manager, albeit a terrible one. He is an older white male, gray hair/bald spot. Real life Scrooge. The way he spoke to one of the other loss prevention employees was terrible! "Did you forget something?? Did you forget to take your break?? Are you an employee here at Ross?? Come here *proceeds to scold him like a child* extremely condescending and just not right. And to add onto the experience, every time a new customer would enter Ross, his greeting was extremely dim and robotic. "Good day and welcome to Ross". How many times he repeated the same phrase depended on how many people that were coming through the door. It wasn't said in a very welcoming way. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy, but not too bad. I found they had more Fall items in than the other Ross stores I have gone into recently, which I appreciated! Today i took a trip to this ross. It's a very big store with a variety of clothes. I was greeted by a nice security guard. After looking around , I wanted to try on some clothes. I went to the fitting rooms and to my surprise nobody was there. I waited around 5 minutes confused until this nice lady finally helped me. This Ross didn't have many items that I would like. However the security the cashiers the people on the floor were so welcoming that's why they got a five-star. It's very nice when you can go in the store and the security said hello wasn't overbearing like someone was stealing anything it was just really relaxing and warming didn't care too much for the fitting room policy I mean eight is a lot of Tryon have you got to put your clothes back on and go get the 9th item I think it should be made an exception give me a eight and up one I used to do it when I work that monkey Ward's but that was me. The pregnant (light skinned mixed looking) lady who works at the front has the most horrible attitude. I mean thee worst attitude I have ever seen. I went to exchange an item and after she scanned the receipt she throws the receipt on the counter. I leave it there because she was just plain rude. The whole time she's working the register she repeats "I don't need that receipt", "I don't need that receipt". I finally replied "I heard you the first 10 times". She rolls her eyes. This Ross never seems to have a decent selection, at least not in the men's section. Everything seems picked out or there just isn't that much inventory. I try not to go to this one because the lines are ridiculously long and selection is poor. Plenty of parking since the old circuit city and Barnes & nobles closed down. With DD's opening up soon I don't know how much longer this store will stay open. Just go to the Emeryville one. That one is much bigger and has better selection. San Pablo one is eh ok. I love ross however, i think its really bad when they dont have bags and they ask you to either buy one or take a garbage bag.... the first time it happend i thought oh they run out however this has been happening in every single visit. I wonder why does this continue to happend.. really makes the company look bad. Come on management get it together. Providing garbage bags is not the image you should strive for. Also, i will often buy fragrances to smell, since they're locked up, and return the ones i don't like but all of a sudden they changed their policy which is a bummer. It's so hard to not buy stuff from here. Although the quality may have fallen short many of times, I can't help but shop here from time to time. I think the dress selection in this location has improved a great deal. I can almost always find something nice to buy. The dressing rooms are spacious. I docked a star because the line to the cash registers is always long and is always a mess. Not everyone knows there's supposed to be two lines -- one for returns, another for purchases. read more

I have been coming here for two years. You know, I usually drop a 10 or 20$ additional-every time I come in this store for donations to the children's fund. But not anymore after being discriminated towards 5 mins ago at store number 0375 transactions number 7913 @ 10:36:09 a.m. for $40.49. The young lady act snobbish towards me and ask for my ID because I was using a card. Keep in mind. I was in uniform (work clothes). It wasn't just what she said, it was how she stated it. She was rude. Loud enough for people behind me to here. I will not be spending my money here anymore. She did not ask the person in front of me for ID, nor the person behind me for an ID. Oh. The store is clean and organized and I can easily shop in here and find what i am looking for and in the middle of it find other great things that i dont need but want. Having the last name 'Ross' I heard many jokes regarding this store as I was growing up. Ross, in general, is no joke. Smaller than Burlington Coat Factory, larger than DD's Discounts. Ross is one of the better bargain priced stores. From clothes to shoes to housewares to linens to toys to food - Ross has a little of everything. The clothing sizes for adults range from petite and up. They have a nice baby section with brand name items that are more affordable. They have different 'events' (sales) throughout the years. The store is now much cleaner and more organized. A good selection of budget friendly items. I have been coming to this Ross for several years now and unfortunately over time the shopping experience here has declined. The store use to be organized and well stocked. I will say that they recently reminded certain areas of the store like the shoe section and the purse section but the rest of the store seems messy and unorganized. The layout of the store seems very messy and slightly overwhelming to shop in, especially on busier days! I only rate this store 3 stars because this store needs to improve on their customer service and management ASAP. They aren't the most friendliest and there is no one around to help or answer any questions. The lines can get rather long here because there is only one or two cashiers on ringing up and there is 10+ in line. I only come here when I need to but it is definitely not my #1 choice of store to go to if I need something. read more

So I was looking forward to a shopping session here, and I walk in to be pleasantly surprised by the selection of jewelry right when you walk in. Before I can take one step closer to the case, the security guard tells me I can't bring my drink inside. He tells me I can either toss it away, or leave it by the door. How welcoming. Um, first of all, its just an Iced green tea. A rather expensive one that is half full, so no I won't be throwing it away or leaving it on the ground by the door for someone to knock over or some little kid to touch. And second of all, I haven't been told that I can't bring a drink in the store... even at that nicest places in Stanford Mall! This is Ross. If am klutzy enough to spill my drink, I can afford to buy whatever I ruin. And telling me I can't bring a tea in while I shop is just ridiculous. This one is just passable and not by much. The selection is rather limited and sometimes the racks are pretty empty. Also most of the stuff has been worked over a lot and so unorganized that it can be frustrating finding the right size. The restrooms are pretty crappy here too, always a mess and papers everywhere. There is something about Ross that always make me come back. Often times I will find cheap tops and jeans for less than $10 a piece! Who can complain? The quality is good and they last me a long time! House decor and pet accessories are always a steal at Ross! I have a tendency of coming here with nothing in mind to purchase but will come out with at least one bag full. Bad habit...but can't help it. Popping in here from time to tome. I find good stuff. Cheap summer dresses. Gaudy purses to satisfy my guilty pleasure. The so called fine jewelry that's behind the counter in the glass always makes me stop and gaze like a kid in an ice cream store. I noticed ever since they opened the other Ross in San Pablo. That this location seems cleaner and more organized. Which makes it easier to navigate while trying to shop. The service is always cool. Never had a cashier be rude.
