This store is complete trash now. No interaction with any staff during my entire shopping experience until I'm bag checked at the door. I go up to check out and the cashier flat out ignores my "hello" while loudly smacking her gum with an attitude while ringing me up in absolute SILENCE. Then I immediately get to the door (I'm literally the only person in front of the store) and the security guard says "open your bag". Literally the first time an employee spoke to me! Now they not only highlight and study your receipt, but also look through your bag. I know they have a lot of theft problems, but now every customer is treated like shit because of it. This location was so good! I was able to find three items I've been searching for! They have a nice variety of clothing and shoes. Everything seems quite neat & service was quite fast. When trying on shoes people who were not trying on shoes were sitting in all the seats for that purpose. There was an empty changing booth right by that area so I propped the door open with my cart to sit on the seat to try on the shoes, no one was waiting for the room. Security comes rushing over to tell I can't try shoes on there. I'm a white haired little old lady he tells me that but says nothing to the people taking up the area to try on shoes who are not trying on shoes. No more going to that store I guess it would have been better if I fell trying on shoes. read more

Good customer service, but super long lines. They tend to only have a few cashiers working at a time. Dusty floor especially by the clothing racks, needs to be swept. If you've never shopped at Ross before, read the signs carefully so you go in the correct line. There are two lines - one for purchases and one for returns. read more

I agree with the other reviewers that bringing Ross back to the Southgate Shopping Center was a happy surprise. I was really disappointed when it had previously closed at this location several years ago. I found a lot of nice merchandise back then that always kept me coming back. This time I finally got to check out the new store! I decided to search the clothing section, but unfortunately couldn't find much in my size. So my first shopping experience didn't pan out. But I'm still glad to see that this place is back in business with an OK selection of clothing, accessories, housewares, kitchen gadgets, and other miscellaneous items. The interior is spacious, clean and organized. Although, it was noticeably lacking in the amount of merchandise the old Ross used to have. Some shelves were sparse and even empty! I'm hoping that this will change with more time, since it is still getting into the groove of increasing their inventory. I was torn in giving them 3 or 4 stars. But since my beloved Ross is back in town, I want to give them the benefit of the doubt! Yay its back! I am so glad they re opened because i love this location and i love ross! It brings back lots of childhood memories when it was here back in the years. It is still the same inside, just that things are reorganized in a different way now. The only thing they really did different is the re arrangement for the cash registers. They arrange 6 cash registers in a rectangle format, which is all next to each other. Then there are 2 single form lines, one of them is the return line, the other is the purchase line. When they call the available number to the cash registers you walk up to pay. Overall i feel like it is too crowded and congested by the single form lines. First the single form lines are too close to the jewelry case, next there are too many shelfs or clothes near the line which gets in the way to get in line. I felt like they could do a better job on the line system when the front of the store has lots of room to rearrange again. I much rather prefer individual cash register and its own line because it gives us customer more room. Just imagine with this current crowded line system on a busy day, its kind of like blehhhh. Mens They have a good selection of clothes to choose from. They categorized it with casual t shirts, to dress shirts, or sporting clothes. Of course the selection isn't as big as the women's selection. The shoe rack selection is big, they have some nice designer shoes such as nike and cole hann. I guess the place is too new, that they don't have a clearance rack yet. Womens Lots of selection! clothes and shoes heaven for the ladies if you like to shop at a bargain. Miscellaenous Seen some interesting items, such as a cute mason jar soap dispenser with a honey bee on it. Can't wait to fill it up with some BBW items. Lots of home decor items to choose from too. Service The staffs who work here are friendly. They were walking around and checking up on customers to see if they needed help finding stuff or just simply greet you with a smile and say hi. I had to come in to return clothes. I really do not like it when my mother shops for me. She seems to think her style is my style. My mom was understanding and gave me the receipt if I needed to change it. So when going in, I already know the expectations. I was not expecting the place to look like Macys or JcPenny. It is what it is. The only thing that gave me a gripe was the lines that separate the returns to the regular cashiers. They may have signs but there was a lot of people who were confused for some reason. I think it confused a lot of people all the time. There are a lot of variety of stuff to find in the store. All of the hype that surrounded the opening of this chain store and it has finally arrived! This ROSS store opened in all of its glory and has been a bustling hot spot ever since. Every time I come in there is a line, shelves are picked over and slightly bare. Despite the skeleton selection at times I will always pop in to my local ROSS. It seems like selection and square footage of each branch vary and this Florin Rd location has maximized its available space. I can not help but notice the cleanliness of this Department Store. There is great pride taken in the order of things on the racks and shelves and it keeps me coming back. I think the selection of items can be compared to those sold at Burlington Coat Factory. So happy that this Ross is back open. I love Ross a lot. They have remodeled and it is clean and you can actually see the items. It is very well organized. I like this new set up that they have. The dressing room is straight to the back and I think that they have a better and bigger child selection. I love Ross and I love their prices. I always find nice dresses for great prices and shoes as well. Their shoe selection isn't as big as the previous one. They have beautiful items for the house if you like nice vases and things like that. I am a regular Ross shopper and I was not happy when they closed this one back when, but I'm wondering now if it was closed due to renovation. I will admit tho they've done an excellent job on the remodeling of this new store and I am super excited to not have to have to drive all the way to Elk Grove to shop at that particular Ross anymore. Well I'm not saying never, but I know it won't be for a minute. This store have all new staff and they're pretty cool and helpful. Thought I'd check out this newly reopened Ross. I wanted to see if they have any nice outer wear as well. Sadly, I was disappointed by the limited selection. Well that is, for a tiny person like me. I found one potential but it was too large for being a small sized coat. I went to check the other clothes. Nothing caught my eyes except for a plaid dress. The women's clothing section at this particular store is actually pretty small compared to others and in my opinion, not much cute stuff either. Also, I noticed some clothing had missing buttons or torn threads. Be sure to double check that. Other than that, they do have a lot of chocolates and gift baskets for the holidays. Their men's section was quite large compared to other Ross as well, including the shoes section. The store is somewhat messy, but the people are friendly enough. Overall, I wasn't feeling too excited over this store and thought it was just okay store. read more

I always shop at this particular Ross because it is close to my house. Not only that but I love the people that actually make time and communicate with me. I came in yesterday , Friday July 12th between 1-1:30pm and was greeting with a big smile and Loud "Hi welcome to Ross" by the young man with the dreadlocs. He's very charming and polite. I hardly ever see him at the door, it's usually the older black lady cinthia. She's very polite as well. Upon entering My husband and I were talking about the heat outside and the young man made a funny comment and said "It's cooking out there, Any more heat and we're gonna need some plates and some sides!" We thought that was hilarious and responded. He and my husband began conversing as I searched through the Michael Kors handbags. The young man then asked would I Like to try one on and see how it looks and feel or if i'm just browsing. My husband told him to not get my hopes up because we only came to browse. so I told him im just browsing with a sad face. He then convinced my husband to buy me 89.99$ and I was so happy. I picked out the one I wanted and he said he had to call his assistant to unlock the bag. When his assistant came she was also very polite. Before she actual got to me and the handbag he says "she's not really my assistant she's my boss. Dont tell her i said that" and i just cracked up laughing. 2nd time in this store and never ever in my life I felt being watched in every single move by a Loss Prevention. I felt so uncomfortable for 10 mins of my life. I started off in the shoe section and picked up a pair of heels then to the handbag isle and picked up a belt bag. Shopping with a toddler is never easy so I had to quickly go find her a toy stop her from crying so I can try my pair of heels. When I finally sat down at the kids shoe section I was very limited trying on the right side bc the alarm was in the way which I couldn't buckle the strap on the heels and the lost prevention walked by said hello and walk about 4 to 5 steps to my left turn to his right toward the kid shoe pretending he was doing something but he had nothing on his hands and I can see his eyes staring at me. I ignore it and went on, walk to the closes mirror and I can see him again on the opposite side of the isle staring at me as he walks across. I ignore him took the pair heels off put my adidas tennis shoes back on and went to toddler clothing isle which was 2 isle down from where I was standing at. As I was looking thru the clothes he walks by me again staring at me!!! It's getting very uncomfortable so I walk away went back to the handbag area and he pops out of no where again. Ok I said maybe he's just watching this area!!! NO!!!!! I went to the rug isle, home decors he pops back out again... I walk to the women clothing sections in the clearance isle he was literally circulating front left right back of me!!! I was with my toddler and I don't want her to be scared or make her worry I immediately called the corporate while I'm in the store and file a complaint for this particular loss prevention!!! I even told her oh there u go here he comes again. I was standing in the same spot while I was on the phone with her and He was under 10 feet away from me. I felt so uncomfortable and getting scared and creeped out!!! I understand he's doing his job but you never can trust anyway at any where. So much crazy things is happening in this world you just have to watch your back!!! I put my guard up high because I have a toddler and I have to protect my toddler!! So while I was in the phone she immediately called the store and spoke to someone and she said I am willing to stay on the phone with you until u leave the store. She ask me if he was still there I said no bc I just walked to the check out line because I didn't feel safe and I need to be around with more ppl. So I ended the call and not 1 min later he walks up to the cashier area and talks to his co worker laughs and he looks right back over and walked away. As I finish paying and walking to put the cart back he was in the shoe section standing there just staring at me watching me pushing the cart and walking out!! And did I mention he is African about 5'6-7 dreadlocks with mustache and I'm a 5'3 petite Asian girl dressed casual with my toddler girl. After I left I dropped my stuff went to ranch 99 and call the store to speak with a manager told her the whole experience and she just said sorry and will let the GM know and kept saying sorry and hope I will still go come back to shop!! read more

I literally can't stand workers talking shiet about others customers to me or infront of me. This worker was talking shiet about this lady who bought all brand name stuff like Nike, coach, mk ect. After the cashier saw what was in her cart. She immediately ask the customer if she was using cash debit or credit before even starting to ring up the stuff. The lady say credit and cashier asked to look at her ID. She didn't have ID so she asked to put the stuff on hold and left. I went up and my cart had puma, Nike, Adidas ect and wasn't asked for what kind of payment I will be making. And then it dawn on me. It was all about appearance. Today was my first time shopping at this new location. First impressions Clean and well organized, went around 1:30pm so it was not too busy. Every employee who walked by me while I was shopping said hi to me, which is great customer service. I didn't look at the clothes today, I was searching for a mirror so I was mostly in the home goods section. I wish they had a little more to choose from but oh well. I found some good size mirrors at great prices but not the color I was looking for. I did purchase a pretty picture frame. Checkout was fast, although the line was set up like a obstacle corse. Customer service is terrible! I came in to return a pair of shoes. Yes the bottom was a little dirty from trying them on ( I have hard wood floors). They refuse to take it back because it was worn... I just bought it from Elk Grove the other day and didn't end up wearing them. I understand they were not returnable but what surprise me was the way management took care of the situation. She states "clearly it was worn and I'm not taking the item back you will have to take it back to the Elk Grove store..." she threw it back in the bag with the receipt and toss it back to me as she walked away. I end up driving to Elk Grove and return it with no issue... florin I get it! Ur shrink is very high and you guys don't tolerate ghetto bs but to do that to me was rude!
