Hands down one of our best meals in London! I can't imagine anyone being upset with any of their tasty pizzas, pastas, and drinks! Everything we tried was absolutely phenomenal! We were able to walk right in around 5 with a warm greeting from the staff, and got seated immediately. After being offered suggestions, we started with a great calamari appetizer, and enjoyed one of their gin based drinks while we awaited our entrees. Why is this restaurant always empty? I mean, they are in front of 'The Breakfast Club' that is all trendy at the moment, but, instead of queueing for hours, why don't you give a try at this little Italian place? If you are up for pizza or pasta, it won't disappoint you! Seriously. I went for lunch one day (after being disheartened by the queue in front) and I have to say that I don't regret it at all. The place is all brick walls and white wood furniture. The kitchen is open and in plain sight so you can see the cook kneading your pizza or seasoning your pasta the whole time which, for me, is always interesting. I ordered a cheese board as a starter and Raviolo stuffed with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and basil in tomato sauce and they were delicious. There was only one waiter and the cook, but the boy was lovely. He explained the menu and the specials of the day and was always very aware of our needs of drinks, bread... I didn't try the pizza, but the people sitting next to us were having Calzone and pizza gourmet and they looked and smelt really good. And they have Gluten free pizzas as well. read more

I was on a vacation to both London and a few places in Italy and tried my hardest to avoid any Italian food until I visited the latter. Fortunately I caved and agreed to accompany my boyfriend to Rossopomodoro and it was the best squabble that I ever lost! This was literally the best pizza I have ever tasted and that includes the many pizzas I had in Italy. I think that the family and people who work here are actually Italian themselves as it was quite obvious after only being there for a few minutes that English was far from their first language, which may explain why they hold the secret for the best pizza ever. I chose the Margherita Pizza which is made with tomato sauce, mozzarella, evoo and basil. I added just a drizzle of chili oil, which is what they use in England in place of our chili flakes and this pizza proved that sometimes simpler is better. It was so good that I actually got the same exact pizza on my last night of my two week vacation as well. read more

We found this lovely restaurant next to 'Breakfast Club' (there were people queeing, of course!), so we decided to give Rossopomodoro a chance. It was almost empty. The waiter was really attentive and nice. He explained us everything about the menu, with a cute Italian accent hehehe We order a cheese platter as a started (three types of mature cheese with bread and an amazing tomato sauce) TO DIE FOR. After that, two dishes of Pasta as a main course. I always wanted to try Meatball Pasta. It was amazing! The tomato sauce was so delicious. I ran out of bread! OMG! Can they move to NY? This is why I love Italian food! But only certain Italian food that I really enjoy the most. We have the best one in our neighborhood in NY, that's awesome! This one is no exception. When I walked around the neighborhood in the afternoon, I didn't realize that this restaurant is just across from the Thai restaurant I came for lunch earlier. I found a few restaurants around here but when I asked the front desk employee (female), she recommended this place. Very good recommendation! It was spot on! Only a few steps away from the hotel, I walked over to the restaurant and saw the sign. I walked in feeling like I'm in Italy. The colorful decoration, the wooden furniture, the visible Chef and kitchen staff, everything was perfect! Their employees are Italians. My waitress, Amelia, has a nice Italian accent. Sounds lovely! She's also very very sweet! I wanted a seafood pasta from London at this Italian restaurant. After looking thru the entire menu, I didn't see any seafood pasta. I asked Amelia about seafood and she said would ask the Chef about my favorite. She came back and told me that the Chef would make me a nice pasta with calamari. Wow! I just got a royal treatment. The Chef would make this for me yahoo! Thanks Chef! If you stay at Holiday Inn next door, the hotel would give you a coupon where you can get a free drink. Nice! I got one but mine didn't come with a free drink coupon because I don't drink soda. Amelia came back with my unbelievable pasta calamari! It was a nice red puttanesca sauce and not just red tomato sauce. I know a few pasta sauces by name and how they taste like. The sauce was awesome with a little bit of anchovies, olive, plum tomato, and caper tastes, all in one plate. This one was a real homemade cooking! The pasta is rigatoni, which I hardly order but I didn't ask about a specific pasta. However, the rigatoni didn't bother my tasting at all, in fact, the Chef knew exactly what he was doing. This sauce and pasta could be the best combination. I'm not giving 5 stars just because of the service and treatment but they earned the stars for the well prepared tasty dish, top notch service and lovely ambience. This dish is to die for! I loved it! I appreciated Amelia's talent in trying to work with what I was looking for. They do have calamari as appetizer, so it made it easier for the Chef to work on my favorite seafood pasta. First time here and was really impressed. On a busy Friday evening at peak time we ventured in hoping to get a table. The place was packed and buzzing but the guy at the front desk had everything under control handling walk-ins, people with reservations and the phone so off to a good start. We had to wait a bit for a table but when seated our waitress came over to explain the 'Neopolitan' menu and helped with wine suggestions. Despite the casual looking menu of pizzas, pastas and salads on a card, they do really care about the food here . I ordered a parmigiana pizza and a side dish that was described as broccoli tips but turned out to be broccoli rabe. I think it's the first time I've seen broccoli rabe on a menu in the UK. Common in the USA (and maybe Italy) but have never seen it here before so big plus for that. The pizzas came in about 5 minutes, it seemed, also a good sign that it had been fired in the super hot oven. The crust was perfectly blistered and exactly the right texture with a good flavour and the topping was perfect kind of like aubergine parmigiana pieces with tomato base. The contorno of broccoli rabe was generous in size and cooked down nicely to a nice texture with a deep slightly bitter flavour of the broccoli rabe. My glass of red recommended by the server was also excellent. Another sign of a good restaurant where the wines by the glass are both reasonable value and good. Been back twice since and just as good. They also do takeaway and have a good kids menu too. Great food, service and reasonable value. read more

we were invited to the opening of Rossopomodoro last night to sample the food and drinks at Hoxton's newest Italian restaurant. The atmosphere was warm friendly and very lively, the staff were very attentive and the food and drinks were on tap. The pizza was authentic and the pasta perfectly al denti, smothered in a pungent tomato sauce. They finally brought out a decadent chocolate mouse, to die for. 3.5 stars. Good pizza, but not great. It's almost as though they've made everything to achieve a very mild taste, so there is no punch of flavour anywhere. The tomato sauce is very weakly flavoured, the crust is pretty mild, even the gorgonzola is relatively tasteless (which is saying a lot given that it's a pretty pungent cheese normally). Saturday afternoon around 1:30 pm there were maybe only 4 or 5 tables occupied. It was mostly dead empty. The place is spacious with a casual, but comfortable atmosphere. The server was nice and willing to answer questions. One of the things that bothered me initially was that they had no marinara option on the menu, normally a red flag. But when I inquired about it to the waiter, he knew exactly what it was and said they do make that, but only upon request. I ordered the marinara and added gorgonzola to it. The marinara came as a standard marinara would (sauce, garlic, oregano) except it was missing the basil, which was surprising because that's so standard. I requested it and he brought some on the side, but it was fresh and uncooked so it didn't jive as well with the pizza. As mentioned, everything was relatively weak tasting. The sauce, the garlic (I wouldn't've believe there was any if I hadn't seen it - how can you even make garlic mild tasting??), the oregano (barely noticeable), and even the gorgonzola (a very very mild one). I wish all the flavors had been amped up, but luckily, no bad flavors at all and as a result, we still had an enjoyable meal for sure. We also got the margherita. Same complaint there, but again nothing bad (mozzarella could've been better quality and was weak tasting so didn't add much, but I've definitely had worse). We enjoyed the meals, but there is nothing at all special about this place or the taste of its pizzas and it is substantially more expensive than some of the better pizza spots around. I wouldn't actively go back, but if a group of friends suggested it, I wouldn't mind either. Good enough food, but there is definitely better out there. read more

This family run little chain does the best pizza in London, hands down. If you like your pizza fluffy and doughy, Neapolitan style then this is the place for you. Starters and sides all traditional Neapolitan, I'd bet some ingredients come straight from Naples too. Mozzarella like none other I'd had in London. SO GOOD. Friendly staff and reasonably priced too. INCREDIBLE!! I loved this place. I came on late on a Wednesday night and didn't have a wait at all. Sat next to the window. There were lots of small friend groups and couples drinking wine after finishing their meals. It was busy but quiet enough to have a good conversation. For an appetizer, I ordered the polenta fries. SO WELL DONE. Perfectly cooked, with a delicious smooth inside and crunchy outside. I then had a pizza. I ordered a Margherita, but then also added ricotta (cooked with it, not added after) and prosciutto (Parma ham in UK?). It was SO delicious. The crust is super fluffy and the ingredients all tasted fresh and yummy. That was one of the best pizzas I had in a long time. The service was really great, too. The food was quickly brought out. My waitress, a short brunette originally from Naples, was so, so sweet, friendly, and attentive. She was excellent. I give her five stars!! The atmosphere was really good in this place, I loved the open kitchen and all Italian theme. The menu looked great too, at a first lance there was almost nothing i didn't like the look of. For starters myself and my friend well for the calamari and the focaccia topped with tomatoes and mozzarella. Im sorry to say we where a little underwhelmed by our first course. The calamari was lightly batter, where personally like my battered calamari to be crispy. Also I know the focaccia to be doughy and soft, whereas this focaccia tasted more like ciabatta, crispy and hollow. For my second course I ordered the squid ink spaghetti with prawns a a pea puree, unfortunately it wasn't what i was expecting, the pasta was a little to al denti and the puree was very cold. Our waitress was very quick to send it back to the kitchen and get me a mushroom and ham pizza, which was DELICIOUS!!!!! I will definitely go back for the pizza, they have a lot of great toppings that look like a must try. Came without reservations on a Friday night, seated within 10 minutes with a warm welcome from the hostess. I noticed all staff were genuinely warm and very open to discussing with us options for food and wine - huge plus. We ordered wine, bubbly, and the charcuterie and cheese plate about £20 (a bit steep) but so good - the fresh mozzarella in particular was outstanding. Had a pizza that was larger than I expected and my boyfriend had the chicken, also a large portion. Had a really delicious dinner here with a friend while visiting London. We were craving a nice pasta dinner and wandered around for a while. The few places we had looked up previously were closed for the Bank Holiday and we were just about to give up when we found Rossopomodoro. We started with the focaccia all'aglio (garlic pizza bread with tomato sauce) and the montanare (fried pizza dough balls topped with tomato sauce, fresh basil and parmesan cheese). Both were outstanding. The montanare dough was light and fluffy, topped with just the right amount of sauce. For our entrees, I got the cacio e pepe and my friend got the pappardelle alla bogognese. Both were absolutely wonderful and very filling. We had a nice rose along with our meal as well that really complemented the food. We enjoyed every last bite and only wish the NYC location had the same menu items. Will definitely be back next time we are in London! read more

Delicious! My boyfriend said that the calzone was the best he's ever had, with just the right amount of meat and cheese. They have gluten free pizza as well. Friarielli was a first for me - Neopolitan pan fried broccoli with garlic and olive oil. It was a little salty but it was amazing when I threw it into my Spaghetto. The Spaghetto was spaghetti with fresh basil, cherry tomatoes, and olive oil. The cherry tomatoes are actually stewed I think, and made a nice little sauce on top, which I wasn't expecting by the description. Make sure you break up the one piece of basil and throw it into the pasta. It looked so pretty sitting on the side there that I forgot that it was part of the tasty dish until the end, when I just tossed it in my mouth and swallowed it whole. Lots of vegetarian options. Really great pizza and Italian food! We had the pork meatballs, which were amazing and a larger portion than expected - they come with bacon in the sauce and were very flavourful. The cheese on the pizza was noticeable high quality and delicious. The food came insanely fast - felt like less than 5 minutes. We made a reservation because we went on a Friday night, and were glad we did because walk-ins had a short wait. It was a great atmosphere for friends/family (there were some children) or couples.
