The food is amazing. The Syrian kebab, grilled eggplant, steak and egg are all delightful. My favorite was the chicken kebab. So juicy and tender. I'm also grateful that they are so careful and serious about my daughter's allergies. They confirmed the allergens and even tried to rule out cross contamination. They also suggested us to get Ciabatta bread because the table bread has quite a few types of seeds/nuts. TLDR: Neighborhood spot in Great Neck. Middle Eastern fare with some creative twists. Brussel sprouts caesar, chicken schnitzel. Wandered on a weekend and was pleasantly surprised. It's a small neighborhood restaurant in Great Neck. The brusell sprouts caesar was crispy, a bit of saltiness with the caesar but the dried canberries was a nice touch. Fried cauliflower was good as well, bright acidity and lots of flavors. For mains, the burger was a good size portion and it's cool how you can mix both regular and sweet potato fries. Schnitzel was my favorite. It's a very large schnitzel with mashed and definitely ask for some schug. The chicken was tender, breaded well but a good size. I especially loved adding the schug to the chicken and the mashed too. By the end I was dipping the chicken in the mashed with the schug. Definitely will return. read more

I Went with the girls for brunch. Their breakfast menu is extremely limited. Come here if you enjoy eggs. The restaurant is nice looking and our wait staff was very kind. I recently went for dinner with a small group of- it was the first time for all of us. I didn't have high expectations, but was very pleased with our meal and the service. The restaurant is on the small side (I suggest a reservation), but very attentive, and the bar area is very cute and modern. Our waitress was very attentive, and everything we ordered was delicious, including my spicy cucumber margarita. To start we shared the falafel platter, large enough to be shared, and the fire roasted eggplant in a green herb tahini sauce (I think that's what it was) - tender and delicious! I had the special brussel sprout Cesar salad w/ added grilled chicken, and others ordered the salmon and enjoyed it. Can't beat great food paired with even better service! This place is a must go whenever you are nearby and looking for some great southern cooking. The smokes meats were all moist, but lacks some of the deep smoke flavor. The Western Steak and Duck was by far the best bite I had this visit. Both dishes were tasty art on a plate. I love this place!! They have some of the best gluten free bread I've had. The people are so nice and helpful and good about allergies! The gluten free bread is apparently imported from another country. I usually get a burger (salmon burger is my favorite) on the gluten free bread or avocado toast. We ordered hummus with pita bread, a shakshouka, and the Syrian kebabs. Our meal also came with a complimentary side of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The shakshouka is only served in during brunch hours, but they were kind enough to still make us one when we requested it. The hummus was deliciously creamy and the pita bread was warm and fresh. Really lovely spot to grab brunch or lunch. I had this place bookmarked for quite some time but planned my long run so that I can treat myself to a really nice meal after all those calories burned. And it was so worth it. The staff was so warm and welcoming the moment that I walked in to get a table outdoors--each and every one of them. I got the Shashuka and although I'd never had it before and wish there were some more spices that give it an extra kick, it was very delicious. Love that it was served in a cast iron skillet that was pippin hot--straight from the oven--when it was brought out. I don't remember if I actually finished it but got through a lot of it and I could still taste the tomatoes in my burps in the aftermath for a good hour! The bread and balsamic vinegar and oil that they served were also winners and were great complements to the Shashuka, otherwise I wouldn't have known if it was to be eaten by itself or with bread. Prices were very reasonable and not one menu item was $20, which is almost unheard of these days. I'll definitely be back for lunch soon! read more

They offer outside seating and this is a great time of year as temperatures start to cool down in September. They serve complimentary multigrain bread with oil and balsamic that's served warm. This is a great spot for brunch (I normally come for dinner). They offer most of the normal lunch/dinner menu as well as a few selections for brunch. The staff is friendly and greets you warmly when you enter. We were a party of two so they asked us to pick a two seater instead of a four (we tried). The anticipation of a crowd was expected so we understand why they didn't want us to take a larger table. I opted for the shakshuka skillet - comes with two poached eggs, for my brunch visit. There was no pita that came with it so I used the complimentary bread basket as my dipping bread. With that much good sauce, it's a shame to not scoop up as much as you can. It was delicious - herbs on top were so fresh and fragrant. I really enjoyed the poached eggs, gives it a nice texture. This meal was very balanced. My friend ordered the veggie burger as her entree and was told to expect that it's fried. That was not an issue. However, it was not tasty and the patty seemed too wet and fell apart. The way the vegetables were slapped together was clumsy and didn't bind. She sent it back and swapped it for the Salmon Burger. That was so much better. We appreciated that the waitress didn't give us a hard time with the request and she was understanding about it. (Mind you, I've never sent food back, ever so I asked my friend to really consider this before doing so). But I understood in this case why it had to go. Frankly, the veggie burger needs a little more work to make it good. And in this case, a chick pea or black bean burger would be a much better option than the veggie burger they served. That is, if you want to offer more options to the vegetarian diners. At any rate, service was pleasant. Our iced coffees were good ( almond milk for her, classic latte for me). And we started with the roasted cauliflower as our appetizer. It wasn't "roasted" as I had hoped - still too moist and tender. The cauliflower needed to be drier and not seem like it was boiled. Great execution on the sauce and plating. Almond slivers were a nice texture for this dish. Could be better. Overall, I love the quality ingredients and the menu. Keep it up. read more

We went last night not realizing the restaurant was closing after everyone left for Passover and Easter. The waitress with blonde hair kept telling us that the restaurant was closing at 9. That should have been the first sign. The food was horrible. The chicken kabob was rubbery and tasteless and the Mediterranean kebab was just as bad. Tough and over cooked. The rice with lentils were tasteless too. We called the waiter Louis over and he seemed uninterested in helping us. We absolutely should have sent everything back and left. It was obvious the food was not fresh. We spent over $100 and we will never go back! Maybe the owners changed not sure. We have never had this issue before until last night! My fiancé and I have been wanting to come here for a while now. Particularly cause they have shakshuka and there aren't many places we know of that serve this dish. We finally made it on a Saturday afternoon. We came around 12:30PM and it was about 1/4 full inside. However, by the time we left, they were packed and busy. Service was also top notch. Our waitress was friendly and food came out fairly quick as well. It was only towards the end of the meal when we were trying to get the bill and pay, that it was taking long since they were busy by then. The complimentary bread was the perfect accompaniment for both meals that we chose. It was warm, soft on the inside to soak up all the saucy parts from our meals while maintaining a crispier exterior. And the seeds on the outside added an additional layer of flavor. I ate so much of this bread lol. - Rothchild's Breakfast: I decided to get this because it comes with your choice of eggs (I got an omelette) and a bunch of dips. It was perfect for me, someone who loves variety. I got to do different pairings so that there were lots of flavors going on. The omelette was very simple, not much flavor to it and just okay, but I was able to add flavor by pairing it with all the dips on the side. - Shakshuka: it came with 2 eggs and was done well. Tomato flavor was strong of course, and was fairly thick but tasty with the bread. Also added a side of turkey bacon on the side. It also comes with a sauce on the side that we didn't even end up using cause this dish itself is already so saucy so I didn't see how that sauce paired with it. - Mint Lemonade: the waitress brought this over and said that the owner sent this over. Not sure if it's cause they saw me taking lots of pictures and videos but I'm thankful for this complimentary drink! It was very refreshing and we both enjoyed it. A lovely spot for brunch. They also have lots of options for salads, sandwiches, and other entrees but I'm happy with what we chose. One critique I do have is that since the tableware was already laid out, I did notice dust on our plates when we were seated and ended up just not using those. The place was pretty busy around mid-noon and with a party of 3, the wait was about 15 min. The restaurant itself was very airy, yet had a clean finished touch and was spacious. I like that they didn't pack in as many tables as possible to get more people in so instead of feeling cramped, I felt relaxed. As for the food, it was great. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu but since I could not, I had their rib-eye steak and eggs and shared their grilled eggplant as appetizer and milk pudding as dessert. Overall, the meal was wonderful. I enjoy their complimentary warm bread and their free refill stumptown coffee. Another thing to mention is that I really enjoyed our waitress. I have a tendency to as a lot of questions and she made me felt comfortable asking and was delighted to answer. I left here super impressed knowing I will be back for more. The black and white decor of solid lines, white subway title with wood tone and light natural green accents is just a great look - I'm not a designer or follower of trends, but it felt very comfortable here. Their service was very attentive - bringing water, swapping silverware between courses, checking in on us from time to time. Mint Lemonade: WOW.. fresh mint pulverized in a not too sweet lemonade slushy. Just fantastic. Interested to try their matcha one to see how it balances next time. Cauliflower (app): I ordered this upon recommendation from someone in the area. The cauliflower was lightly coated and fried on a bed of cauliflower cream. The lemon cut any heaviness this might have and made it so light and delicious. Highly recommend this also. Half Chicken: I love a great roast chicken - surely one of the most underrated things you can order when you find one that is so well made like Rothchild's. Flavorful, juicy chicken with kalamata olive, caper and oregano marinade. The roasted fingerling potatoes and beautiful harissa carrots were cooked perfectly. Mediterranean Vegetable Platter: I can't recall having vegetables roasted with so much flavor before - I swear the tomatoes tasted like you were eating a slow cooked tomato sauce. The carrot & cauliflower creams with the labne went together so well - made me want to lick the plate clean. The salmon addition was the right choice - crispy skin with tender flaky fish. Malabi: Sweet israeli pudding topped with raspberry coulis. The rose water typically used in Mediterranean desserts was just the right amount that it actually converted me to being a fan because others I find too heavy handed where it makes me feel I am eating a floral arrangement. Chopped pistachio and coconut round out this silky pudding making it a thing of beauty. Rothchild's gets so much right here and they succeed, seemingly effortlessly, pulling off what so many other places on LI aspire to be - upscale casual that is actually worth the money.
