Great paninis and friendly atmosphere! I would also recommend the cappuccino as it is the perfect end to any meal here.

My friend went in person last week to make a reservation for 5 for a birthday lunch at 12 noon today for the round window table. We walked in and the restaurant was set up for a 40th birthday party for 30 or so ladies! There were only 3 other tables for 4. We said that we made a reservation for 5 for the round table. I visited Cafe Kriza with my mom when visiting family in New York. My family raved about this place (probably because its kosher) so we decided to check it out when we got off the train. Upon going in, we realized we probably should have gone to the burger joint across the street but regardless we stayed and tried it out. The place is a little casual and boring for my taste. However, the food and service was surprisingly decent. One of the servers was pretty helpful and tended to our needs. The other server was pretty below average. Bathroom was clean and big. I ordered the tomato and feta omelette. It was clear they put something in the omelette to make it taste the way it did because it was not normal. It was thin. It didn't taste like usual omelettes should but it was still good. The bread was okay. The little side salad was great!! Next time I am in New York I will definitely try somewhere new but it was nice to experience Cafe Kriza once. read more

This was my first time at Cafe Kriza, and I loved it. It was centrally located in the heart of town, and because it's kosher, it made everyone in my party happy. The service was great, and the wait staff incredibly attentive & warm. We ordered the avocado panini, the Israeli panini with mozzarella, and a hot Sahlab which were all tasty and hit the spot. For the price point, how centrally located it was, and how delicious the meal was, I highly recommend the spot. Plus they were playing Maluma, & nobody will ever understand how much I appreciated that. read more

Horrible service! As I walked in I asked for iced coffee the lady server asked him something and he yelled at her soo loud !!! I asked if They had latte he looked at Me and in astern way did no so I had the ice coffee.Than unasked for sugar again he looked at me Without answering me like how dare you so the server stepped in and gave men2 sugars than I was charged &6.00 for iced coffee ! Me and my family came by here for lunch. Place was small and cozy. Menu has many great options. Everything we ordered was delicious. We got the pesto vodka pie, tuscani panini melted cheese panini and soup of the day. We were pleasantly surprised and would definitely come again. I have no idea how this place manages to herd so many sheep in. So poorly run, practically by kids who are inexperienced with service. I always seem to put service last in my reviews, but that's because I am used to a basic service. But when it's as bad as what I witnessed today, it becomes important. People were walking out, despite empty tables. We were five and wish we'd done the same. But sadly tried to wait it out. Food was mediocre and bland. It must be the kosher thing keeping them going. Can't see how it's the food, and certainly not the service. Location is prime, though. Not kid friendly either. And not a great deal cost wise either, though I admit I am not kosher so I can't really compare it to other such places. read more

Stopped in here for desert and coffee after a meal at another restaurant. Three of us ordered cappuccino and an Israeli cheese cake slice. We were told it is actually flown in from Israel. Seems unnecessary but, OK. It was very good so maybe it was worth it. Creamier and lighter than the typical NY style cheese cake. One piece is certainly large enough for two people to share and it was presently nicely. The staff was very friendly and the service was very good. read more

I was very happy with my food order and the food tasted delicious and fresh.however what irked me was the sub par service. Now please ready review carefully by no means am I being racist or have anything against this particular lady who served me It wouldn't matter if she was green purple or yellow her service was just slacking. I'm not sure if she had a long day or just an off day but this African American lady seemed not attentive . No bread brought to the table , no water . Isnt that supposed to be complimentary ? But that's not what irked me What was really annoying is mid service there were still four tables that needed to be tended to - the waitresses friends come in n they head to the back to chit chat. Now I'm an old soul and to me when your working your on the clock and your there to work not shmooze. I would understand if there was an emergency of some sort and you need to talk to your friends or family but they were clearly laughing in the back while me and four other tables were waiting patiently for our waitress. This was frustrating, it kills my time waiting and I kept looking in the back trying to get her attention because I was ready to leave n I just think this little get together with her friends could have waited after she finished her dinner service. Regardless I left a good tip there was another guy who stepped in an took my dirty plates and brought me the check but this is after like waiting for fifteen minutes for my waitress.so give this place a try the food is really good but hopefully the service will be better. Great food to cost ratio. Let me begin with the fact that this place absolutely ruined my experience eating french toast anywhere else. They have the most AMAZING FRENCH TOAST you have ever had. The bread it thin, crispy on the outside yet still tender and soft on the inside. The iced coffee is heaven as well. I would highly recommend this place for breakfast/brunch to anyone. Haven't been there for dinner, but will probably check it out soon. read more

"Kriza" in Hebrew is when an individual is in a state of elevated energy usually when one is stressed or extremely happy or silly. Despite the name, I felt only relaxed and satisfied as I sat by the window. I ordered the goat cheese salad over arugula with tomatoes, onions and this lemony olive oil dressing. It was so light and fresh. I also had a latte with my salad and as I sat looking out the window (and hearing the staff chat in Hebrew) I momentarily felt like I was in a small cafe on the streets of Tel Aviv. Yala! One of my favorite places to go for breakfast or lunch. Very relaxed atmosphere. The paninis are soooo good. The bread they use is theis very crispy bread topped with a bunch of sesame seeds and I think it is great. The coffee is also amazing here. I have tried a few different coffee/espresso drinks and they have all been good. I also asked to substitute the bread on one sandwich for the panini bread, and they did it for me with no problem! read more

Such friendly people and really good paninis and wraps. Sorry they are not open for dinner right now (due to COVID). Pricey on non-alcoholic drinks with no free refill. And with restaurants really "hungry" for business, do not upcharge a credit card payment without telling your customers. read more

I like this cozy place for lunch . I love their paninis. You might feel it's little overpriced but the it's worth it if you want tasty kosher lunch. As other reviews, service is not perfect on every visit, but it doesn't bother me that much. This is still my favorite lunch spot. read more

The salads are pretty good and, according to my husband, the paninis are better. The service is eh...and I'm not picky about service. Example: "How do you make the smoothies? Is there milk or yogurt in it?" "Yes we make it with milk." "Can you use juice or almond milk or anything else (They have juice on the menu btw)? "No" "Um...I don't mind paying more, but I'm lactose intolerant so I can't have milk" "We make it with milk." Ok.... then when it is time to leave a tip I only had a twenty and I wanted to leave $15. I asked the owner (?) for change: "We don't have change" I'm confused, I see a cash register full of money...I'm not asking for specific change or to change a large bill...so I ask the waitress. "You have to ask him, it has nothing to do with me" Um....ok I would leave the tip on a cc but I paid cash (somehow then you had change??) After more awkward back and forth the owner said he only had singles..which is fine, what do I care, and angrily gave me twenty singles. While the food was good, this review is based on service, which was terrible. Four people at our table had to repeatedly ask for water and the staff seemed very overwhelmed, dropping and breaking things throughout the restaurant. The food here is fine, mediocre but passable. The service here, though, is terrible. Usually they're slow and inattentive. Recently, however, we had the last straw. I went with my grandma and the owner was serving us. She took our order and my grandma asked for water. She was coughing and clearly needed water. The woman told us to wait, ten minutes later they brought our food but no water! We asked again for water (grandma is still coughing) and she said rudely "I heard you the first three times!" She yelled at an old lady for asking for water 15 minutes after we got there. If she heard us, she should bring the water! Maybe if the food was excellent, we could overlook. I love this place so much. As a vegan, there are so many options I can get. Like the other review said, the dressing was not able to be substituted but that only applies to two salads, La Scala and Ibiza. However, the other salads can have the dressing on the side and have anything taken out or put in. Also the wraps are delicious and I usually do not like to eat wraps because they seem bland to me. okay. first off lemme just say the food is so incredible. I ate the tuscany panini with an Ibiza salad. Those two dishes gave me the vibes from different parts of europe and the middle east. second, the owner is arrogant only because this is his life. He tries to make the best of it to make the customers get the true sensation of what he wants us to feel. He cares deeply about how things are prepared and served, that's why he sometimes comes off as mean (things sometimes don't usually go his way). Finally, the coffees here are UNBELIEVABLE. They take a dump on Starbucks for sure. Order the cafe latte, you'll never drink coffee from anywhere else again. I will definitely be coming more often! read more
