Tomato and feta omelet with Israeli salad and some bread
    Mel L.

I visited Cafe Kriza with my mom when visiting family in New York. My family raved about this place (probably because its kosher) so we decided to check it out when we got off the train. Upon going in, we realized we probably should have gone to the burger joint across the street but regardless we stayed and tried it out. The place is a little casual and boring for my taste. However, the food and service was surprisingly decent. One of the servers was pretty helpful and tended to our needs. The other server was pretty below average. Bathroom was clean and big. I ordered the tomato and feta omelette. It was clear they put something in the omelette to make it taste the way it did because it was not normal. It was thin. It didn't taste like usual omelettes should but it was still good. The bread was okay. The little side salad was great!! Next time I am in New York I will definitely try somewhere new but it was nice to experience Cafe Kriza once.

The hot sahlab - warm, cinnamony, hit the spot after a rainy day.

Great paninis and friendly atmosphere! I would also recommend the cappuccino as it is the perfect end to any meal here.

We had sigara borek and hummus as appetizers, and the hummus in particular was so fresh and flavorful - definitely the best hummus I have ever had. We ordered a couple of entrees and unfortunately the wrong food came out. We didn't initially realize and thought they had put out two meals on the platter (and they were just small portions) and included some extras as well, until our waiter came over a few minutes later and apologized. Unfortunately, because we received the mixed grill instead of our two chicken entrees, the solution of charging us the price for the mixed instead of our two meals only took roughly $10 off the bill but resulted in us having less than half of the food we otherwise would've had. That aside, the food was delicious enough that Kebab House still warrants five stars and we will be back, just more aware of what to expect as far as portions.

There were 10 people in my party. Due to some tables not getting up in time, we had to wait about 30 minutes, even though we were early to the reservation. The restaurant was packed. My family enjoyed everything. We ordered multiple dishes and the three rice sides (zereshk polo, Abaloo polo (my fav - cherry rice) and green rice). We ordered the chicken kebab (2) platters, shrimp kebab (2 platters), barg kebab, ground meat kebab, salmon kebab, and a chicken with pomegranate stew. The chicken with pomegranate stew (Koresh Fesenjan) I had never tried before and it was delicious. For dessert, most of us had Persian tea and Persian ice cream. My grandfather and husband got the chocolate lava cake, was very good. My brother in law got the halavah, which I have had before and he really liked it. I wanted to note the service besides waiting for the table was great. The waiter was super helpful on how many dishes to order and we were all able to finish everything except the rice, which I took home. I loved that the restaurant had a small lift so those with a whee chair could come and dine. My grandfather needed that. Will be running back

Service: 5/5 The service was extremely friendly and nice. We got there and they said we can sit anywhere we like. Service was fast and sauce refills were welcomed. Ambiance: 5/5 The ambiance is elegant yet comfortable, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both casual dinners and special occasions. The decor is tasteful, the dining room is spacious, and the overall setting feels polished without being overly formal. It's a relaxing place to enjoy a meal and spend time with family or friends.

We got a table quickly. However, everything else in this restaurant seemed to take a very long time even though the restaurant was pretty empty. It took an exceptionally long time for the waiter to take our orders. We sat with empty glasses until dinner arrived since no one came to fill our glasses (this was in spite of us asking about 5 times for water). We had to repeatedly ask for the water to be refilled. It took a while to be served. The waiter brought a pre-meal nibble to the table, which was nice, but it was tiny and not nearly enough for 7 adults to sample. When my glass of water spilled on the floor, none of the workers or the waiter even noticed and the water remained on the floor through out the meal. The food was plentiful but not great. When we wanted to take our left overs, the waiter brought over 7 containers and 7 plastic bags for us to assemble and bag ourselves. We were surprised to see that at a fine dining restaurant. I think that since the Shiraz waiters know they are getting a 20% tip no matter what, they don't have to go above and beyond. This restaurant should not be anyone's first choice with Chattanooga and Colbeh just a stones throw away.
