This was our second time dining at Crabtree's since it has changed ownership. Peter,it was a real winning, positive dining experience ! The food, service and hospitality are first rate. The new hostess and the greeting by Phillipe could not have made us feel any more welcome. We were offered a choice of seating and while we love the look and feel of the back patio it was a bit too cool and breezy out there.... We decided to sit in the front room as it is generally quieter and more low key. There were many larger groups with celebrations and you could see they were all having a good time. Our waiter Luis, came and introduced himself, brought our menus and inquired about water, drinks, etc. We told him we wanted only pumpernickel rolls: they are warm, fresh out of the oven and truly addictive. Our waters and my white Zinfandel arrived shortly thereafter. Our fresh goat cheese salad arrived with the raspberry vinaigrette and as always it was carefully divided. Luis came to check on everything as he and other staff members ( both members who we know through dining here repeatedly over the years) and new additions. Everyone always treats you like family. Very good pacing of the meal.... Nice and leisurely, not rushed but no long breaks between courses. Then our main dishes arrived. My husband had the pappardelle with mixed seafood, no sausage- plentiful and loaded with flavor. I get the shrimp a La Rodos.... 5 very nice sized shrimp with with lots of diced fresh tomatoes and feta cheese, served with my 2 favorite side dishes- mashed potatoes and beets.... All YUMMY and very generous portions. My husband's Stella Artois arrives in a nice cold glass with the main dish, as requested. Luis again checks on everything and then shortly thereafter we get the surprise of the evening. Peter, the new owner stops by and chats with us. It was a pleasure to meet him: we are sure he is very busy running back and forth between his two restaurants. and making sure that everything is going smoothly. We had a lot to talk about. Well, he has a tough act to follow but so far the food, service and hospitality are still 5 star !!! We ended our meal on a high note. A FABULOUS meal has to end on a sweet note. We were offered about 5 or 6 dessert choices. We selected the chocolate mousse cake. A rich, creamy sweet conclusion to a superb meal served by a warm, caring staff. Everyone including Luis, Felipe and the new hostess gave us a fond Farewell on the way out. We eagerly look forward to returning after their vacation at the beginning of August !! I honestly don't understand how this restaurant has so many glowing reviews. My dinner there was a complete disappointment from start to finish. While waiting at the bar for a friend to arrive, I was swarmed by fruit flies, which should have been my first warning sign. The pours at the bar were skimpy, but I tried to shake it off once we got our table. The service there was actually friendly, and our server proudly told us the duck was a top seller, so we ordered it along with a salad and a fish dish. Most of what came out of the kitchen was diner quality at best--nothing special, but not offensive. The duck, however, was a disaster. It tasted old and stale, like it had been sitting in a freezer for months before being rushed through a fryer. The meat was fried to a dry, brittle crisp, and the only flavor came from a cloying sweet duck sauce slapped on top. No richness, no tenderness, no redeeming qualities. We absolutely hated our meal and the entire time we spent there. I can't recommend this place to anyone who actually cares about what they eat. read more

What a cozy place! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is very old school but what a vibe! We went for dinner and ordered the grilled octopus and maryland crabcake. I think the apps were just okay for me but what blew my mind was the sweet potato gnocchi and homemade pappardelle. The sweet potato gnocchi was very unique and creamy and the homemade pappardelle was the best I've ever had! There weren't a lot of carbs which I wished they had more of because it was so delicious! We arrived at 8:45 p.m. on a Thursday evening after a late graduation ceremony and were pleasantly surprised that they were more than happy to accommodate our party. The restaurant's ambiance was wonderful, with several spacious dining rooms that each had their own charm. We chose to dine on the outdoor patio, which felt like a rooftop restaurant in the city, with beautiful trees creating a canopy overhead. Loved the vibe ! Our party of four started with the escargot and clams. While I don't personally eat escargot, the others at the table thoroughly enjoyed it. For my entrée, I ordered the mahi-mahi with mango, which was phenomenal--extremely fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. The other guests raved about the halibut in lobster sauce and the potato-crusted grouper. I finished with the carrot cake, and all though I was full proceeded to finish entirely because it was that good! A special mention goes to our waitress, Michelle, who was attentive and thoughtful throughout the evening. Crabtree's has been around since 1985 (according to this Yelp page), and what comes to mind first when writing this review is their genuinely friendly and attentive service. And the large portions! On our most recent visit, we were there for Sunday brunch. There was a prix fixe menu for $28, and that included a cocktail/juice, main, dessert, and coffee/tea. I selected the eggs Benedict which I liked, and others in our party who ordered steak and eggs ($5 upcharge) and the chicken tchoupitoulas [Tchoupitoulas is a street in New Orleans, I just learned through online research] seemed pleased. While French fries came with the eggs Benedict, the potatoes were interestingly cubes instead of strips. A salad also accompanied the eggs which was great. While a vanilla almond parfait was mentioned on the menu, we were presented with three different types of cake slices to share. Crabtree's seems like a popular choice for groups and private parties and does well with kids. They have a backyard area which I haven't experienced but it looks nice. There is valet parking as well as street parking. And if the back room isn't closed off, there's a restroom that you can use there if the ones near the bar are occupied. read more

Crabtree's has been on my list for years and we finally went for brunch. Arriving for our 12:30 reservation, the place was quiet, but more people came in after that. They have a prefix brunch menu which includes one brunch drink, one entree and a parfait for dessert. Definitely a good deal. They start you off with some muffins for the table which were quite tasty despite being burnt on the outside. Drinks were ok, nothing special. While the place is kid friendly, the brunch menu is not. They have some kids dishes like chicken fingers and pasta with butter. One of my nieces wanted eggs and they charged the full brunch price for it. My husband got the Chicken Tchopiolous which he quite enjoyed. Someone got the French toast which they said was just ok. I got the eggs Benedict, and while the eggs were poached perfect, it definitely wasn't the best I've had. It was served with a nice salad and crispy potatoes. The parfait was vanilla pudding with cookie crumbs and almonds it was enjoyable. The only thing though if you have a nut allergy you don't have an option bc the parfaits are premade so you can't get one without nuts. Staff was friendly and attentive. read more

This restaurant has a very humble exterior which may be easy to pass by. But you would be wrong to do so. I am a decades-long foodie, always on the hunt for a good meal. Crabtree 's did not disappoint. From the welcoming greeting, by professional restaurant staff, and not bored teenagers, to the impeccable service and food, our experience here was a pure delight. The calamari and ceaser salad appetizers were bursting with flavor and tasted so fresh. I ordered the special, a whole roasted dorado fish. It was divine. My partner had the lobster and shrimp pasta dish and was just as happy. I am a very finicky restaurant diner. I could not recommend this place more. I wish I had taken better pictures to do justice to the food, but it was so delicious looking we just dove right in! read more

The octopus was overcooked, the fresh mozzarella was cold, and the gnocchi had good flavor and a nice creamy sauce. For the main dish, we ordered the burger and the bronzino. The burger was ok flavor wise, but was overcooked, and the fries were good, but it would've been nice to get more. The bronzino was just bronzino, not bad and not great. The waitress was good but didn't know what it meant to debone the bronzino and when I asked for tomato, onions and lettuce for the burger it was like her mind was blown. I never got my lettuce. This place reminds us of a place that's been around for decades, and it was once great but has slowly declined and the same people have been going here for decades but don't notice the decline. read more

Hosted a family gathering of 11 people on 6/12/24 at Crabtree's as this is our "go to" place. We started with a few drinks at the bar and were delighted to find Luis(our favorite waiter)handling the pouring. His drinks and personality were just right. After an enjoyable time, we headed to our table. As requested, Luis, was also our server. We all shared apps penne vodka, baked clams and seafood salad. The vodka never disappoints. Next runner up was the seafood salad which was new to me. The dressing was light and fish was fresh. Everyone was happy with their mains. Zero complaints. We finished with various desserts: carrot cake, chocolate cake, cheesecake and tartufo. My only minor complaint/suggestion would be to step up on the cakes. I would pass on those and stick with tartufo. The delicious food makes up for the lackluster desserts. The food here is always good. What makes Crabtree's even better is the outstanding service. Luis is a superb waiter and makes you feel at home. The host/manager made sure everything was to our liking and couldn't do enough to make our visit wonderful. After passing this restaurant several times, I've decided to try it. The decor was nice with the large Christmas tree in the back and garland over the doorways was really pretty. We were seated immediately and our waiter was Michaelangelo, he was very personable, funny and attentive. We ordered oysters, baked clams, and the dishes pictured below. I struggle to put into words exactly what I love about Crabtree's, but the words comfort and reliability always comes to mind that covers the attentive service, to the large, crowd pleasing menu. I believe its a place where you can bring most anyone and they will find something to enjoy. The decor is a bit of a throwback with mellow yellow walls, and wood trim and tables throughout. The outside dining area in the back is very pretty with trees and umbrellas making for an inviting space. Adding to the throwback vibe are references to the Little Rascals about the space (thus the Crabtree name) Since the pandemic so many restaurants admonish their patrons to "be grateful for the workers that showed up", which I am frankly sick of hearing. Dining out is supposed to be a pleasure, a small luxury and a bit of an escape - I believe Crabtree's does its best to make their customers feel that way. The waitstaff discuss specials, menu items and make small talk where you feel welcomed. Valet parking is even available, but I usually have no trouble finding a spot on my own. You're not going to find a trendy, groundbreaking menu rather it is a place to get a reliable piece of fish, delicious pastas, well made pork chops, lamb, steak or whatever cut of meat you might be in the mood to eat. Their apps are tasty - I enjoyed the baked blue point oysters that we shared and their salads are generous. They brought out our roasted walnut salad split evenly between the two of us. I find the entrees generous as well - my almond sliver crusted striped bass came on a bed of couscous, a large mound of fresh vegetables and nicely tender beets. The Shrimps a la Rodos came similar, but with flavorful rice in place of couscous. Crabtree's is place that has remained consistent over so many years, which is something I value more and more these days. Came here out of curiosity after seeing all the rave reviews about this place. Last month we came here on a double date to celebrate a birthday. My friend wanted to come here because she likes the food here. I've heard mixed reviews about this spot. I consulted with a fellow Yelper foodie regarding recommendations on what to order, and personally, I was not disappointed. Our server was great. My entree portion was huge. We shared the appetizer of the clams casino. They were very good and the usage of ingredients were well balanced for that one biter. We ordered the kids Entree of chicken fingers and French fries, and that was a hit with the little one. Now, to the entrees, the guys ordered the special Rib eye steak cooked medium well and Crabtrees' famous 10 Oz burger. Both dishes were devoured. The steak trumps the burger. The ladies went with seafood by ordering the swordfish and potato crusted grouper. Our entrees were huge. I definitely enjoyed the grouper, I took half and made an omelet or torta with the leftovers for brunch the next day. For dessert, we ordered the pistachio tartufo and carrot cake with coffee, cappuccino, and tea, which were great. Definitely come here for the seafood appetizer and entrees. This is one of my top three favorite spots in Floral Park! My family and I constantly come here for birthdays, monthly family dinners and any other special occasions. The food here is SUPERB. I have never tasted anything less than amazing. I highly recommend the lamb lollipops for an entree, rigatoni a la vodka, gnocchi appetizer or the duck entree. The service is attentive, professional and offer great wine and drink pairings for each entree. It's a nice restaurant that is more formal in nature. My friend brought me to celebrate my birthday. We came in a Sunday around4:30 they were transitioning from their lunch to dinner. We were sat quickly and offered drinks and given warm bread as we reviewed our menu. The waiter was attentive and provided some suggestions after requested. We both indulged in the pastas. I had the shrimp and Lobster tortellini and my friend had the white truffle ravioli. The dishes are very filling mine the shrimp and lobster tortellini came with 4 large stuffed tortellinis and my friends had about 5 I think on her plate see photo. I had a taste of her white truffle raviolis it was full of flavor and you could distinctly taste the truffles. Mine was well flavored and full of shrimp and lobster meat. They without prompting brought out a champagne flute of chocolate mouse with a candle and sang happy birthday as they heard we were there for a birthday dinner and they took and printed a picture for me and put it in a photo card. Their seafood dishes were very good but steak was not great. Also, I wish they had different sides but instead, the sides were all the same for their dishes. While the vegetables were well prepared, they weren't very exciting. The service was absolutely fantastic, very attentive and professional, drinks were strong, and the prices were really reasonable.
