I have been coming here for years. Always a great time with authentic homemade delicious Greek food. It's a welcoming family atmosphere. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The restaurant is always very clean. You can't go wrong with anything you order from the menu. A few standouts are the octopus, the spreads sampler, and the Honey Cheese Pie Triangles. Outstanding experience at a lovely local restaurant. My husband and I went for dinner and we left so happy. They clearly put effort into making the vibe as authentically Greek as possible. The service was outstanding. We loved that the owner, George, went around and talked to all of the diners. He even read us the specials and brought us some food himself. He is so sweet. The waitress, Zoe, was incredibly sweet as well. They made us feel right at home. Now the food! They have a special going on from Tuesday to Thursday where you get a side, and appetizer, and entree, and a dessert for $35 each! What an absolute steal. I think it would have been worth it even if it was double that. I got the zucchini chips, the branzino, the gigantes beans, and a fig gelato. My husband got the cheese appetizer, the moussaka, the baklava, and the eggplant side! We also got an appetizer of sardines and he ordered a Greek drink. Still outstanding and at a reasonable price (compared to another Greek restaurant reviewed separately in Roslyn). We were four and managed dinner (no drinks) for just over $200 with tax and tip. My buddy and I ate relatively light with dinner salads ("Greek" and "Country"), which were fresh, crisp, and lightly dressed, and two orders of "Imam," which is their eggplant dish (previously described ... still delicious ... new photo appended). The girls both opted for different types of fish (which dominated the entrées here) and they enjoyed it. Parking and traffic at 6:30 PM on Saturday left us 15 minutes late, but our reservation was honored, including the table we requested against the wall. Once again, we ended by sharing Karithopita, a moist, brown, Greek, walnut cake (they provide large slices). It's a single room, relatively small, with the owner, a waitress, and a busboy serving the entire room ... yet attentively. The food came out without long waits, but they don't rush you if you want to linger. read more

Ordered Lentil soup, a sm greek salad(no white dressing) calamari -I though i said cooked but it came out weird and i didnt eat it at all. Pleasant environment, brightly lit, clean environment. My favorite Greek place recently closed so I have been in search for a new one. Most important for me is a place that offers lamb chops, pastitsio and octopus. I heard good things about Greek Islands so I figured I would give it a try. I called to inquire about said items and spoke to George. He was friendly and welcoming, so I made a reservation. I thought parking might be a problem but around 5 PM on a Saturday night I found a spot on the side street. Toasted pita bread and chickpea salad were brought to the table which was a nice touch. We ordered octopus and a half order of the gigante beans as an appetizer. For mains, we ordered pastitsio, lamb chops, and branzino. All dishes were well seasoned and tasted great. The filet and 4 lamb chops were standard in size, but the pastitsio and side dishes of lemon potatoes, spinach and salad (with barely any cheese) were definitely on the smaller side. The sauce on the beans and tzatziki sauce were surprisingly very tasty. George even brought out a homemade sesame dessert on the house. All dishes could have been served hotter. They arrived warm at best. While George definitely made the dining experience pleasant, my issue would be that the prices were definitely a bit high for the portion size, especially given the lack of ambience and valet. read more

I came here with my family on Saturday night. When we got there, there were tables open, but by 8pm it was packed! They had to have people eat in their outside area. The food was delicious! We started off with a complimentary pita and chickpea dish, which was delicious. We also ordered a Greek salad and hummus. They were very good as well. Salad was super fresh. I ordered the lamb gyro. I enjoyed it but felt it was tasteless without the tzatziki sauce. I chose spinach as my side and it was so good. My aunt ordered a Shrimp and Tuna kebab special, my uncle got a seafood pasta, my grandmother ordered branzino and my grandfather got salmon. Everyone enjoyed their dish. Lived in queens my whole life, tried many greek restaurants and married into a greek family. Tried this place spontaneously and so glad we did. Clean bathrooms with a cozy casual atmosphere. Very traditional in decor and cuisine. I didn't think that any pasticio would ever come close to my Mother in laws (and my husband makes a pretty good one too) but the one I had there was delicious . Fresh and not dry with just a hint of cinnamon, so good! And a generous size portion. Husband had the lamb and it was very tender. Brother in law had the Mousakka and it was delicious, not greasy like some places. Saganaki and spreads so good as well. Fig gelato and orange cake amazing. Owner was friendly and knew his stuff when discussing the specials, wine and beer, with a good selection of greek beer and wine. as city people we found the prices reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area. Pricey but tasty! It looks like there are some freebies when you eat at the restaurant, but our delivery order was overall satisfying. The lamb gyro came with a lot of meat. The chicken souvlaki didn't have as much meat, but it was moist and flavorful. Both came with a ton of rice, and each dish was $21. The halloumi appetizer was a little disappointing - much less beautiful than the photos of the dish in-house. To be expected, I suppose. But for $12, I was expecting something a little more. I wouldn't order that again. Most of the dishes available for delivery (via DD) are quite expensive, hence why we went for the gyros (still a bit expensive!). Next time, I might sub the appetizer for the dessert since the selection there was very enticing. read more

Went last night for my 25th Wedding Anniversary....First time here! George, the owner, seated us, he was super nice & very attentive to my husband & I. We had Saganki, Calamari & a soft shell crab for appetizers. All was delicious. The crab was seasoned very well. Yummy! My husband had a pink snapper special & I had a combo dish of Pork & gyro! They had a variety of sides that you could choose from, but I chose lemon potatoes, my husband had a beet salad in which he said was very good! My husband said they have the best tzatziki sauce he has ever tasted! George was very friendly & had a good sense of humor! By the end of the meal we were stuffed, and George offered us a dessert menu, we had to say no to dessert this time. George brought over some cookies that him and his wife make they were delicious. Came here for a quick and early dinner. The restaurant is small but felt we had stepped into a familiar town of Greece as soon as we entered. Our server was extremely friendly and welcoming. He was extremely helpful explaining the specialties of the day. We ended up getting a few apps in addition to our entrees. All the food came out beautiful and delicious. Highly disappointed. Not quite sure how this spot gets an average of 4 stars as this was the absolute worst Greek food I've ever had. 1) Tried to place an order over the phone but was hung up on when I said I wanted to place an order for delivery. No big deal... tried calling back but they wouldn't answer again. 2) Placed an order though Yelp/grubhub... lots of extra fees but whatever... still no big deal. 3) Food arrived within an hour and was excited to try... opened up everything but it was all cold. Not even lukewarm but legit cold. This could be the driver's fault perhaps. Reheat my fries... but I'm still not aggrevated yet. 4) I take my first big bite of my lamb souvlaki and try to tear into an inedible piece of fat/sinew. I'm talking gross, won't feed to your dog type of meat was in this sandwich (see pics)... 5) Next I try a Pork Souvlaki sandwich... I ordered pork... the foil wrapped sandwich was labeled pork but the meat in the sandwich was chicken! This was edible but lacked flavor and wasn't what I wanted. In both souvlaki sandwiches the pita seemed like it was pulled from a package, never touched a grill and was just completely flavorless. I hate leaving negative reviews... especially during covid but I'm still dropping $70 on a takeout dinner and want to enjoy my meal. I can live with the customer experience issues but ultimately it comes down to the food which was poor in terms of taste and quality.. Maybe they had a bad night, but it was just a comedy of errors. I arrived with my 11 year old today. When we first walked in the restaurant it was empty. I asked where should we sit and the man/ hostess/ owner said anywhere. We sat by the window and he immediately said with a stern voice- I said sit in the corner table. He never stated that. When I asked why the change he said theirs a party he is expecting and needed the table. We arrived at 3:45pm. I asked what time was the party arriving he said 6pm. They had plenty of time to flip the table for the party. I didn't say anything as I wanted my daughter to have a nice meal. We left the restaurant more or less an hour later. With much time prior to 6pm. The table was left empty and untouched. They clearly did not need that table for the party. My sole guess is that they didn't want a mix raced family facing their window where people on the outside could see us. Extremely disappointed to feel this type of treatment in this day and age. My husband is half Greek so is my daughter. You never know who you are attending to. In regards to the food- My seafood salad had small ice cubes in it. When I told the woman hostess nothing was done to address it. The seafood was clearly defrost and put into the salad too early. It was bland and untastefull. Such a shame to spend so much money on a very poor experience. Prior to us leaving it appeared they tried to be nice. We haven't been back since prior to Covid. The last time we were here we had a fantastic meal so I was really looking forward to it. They started with a basket of warm pita and a chick pea mixture which was a nice start to the meal. The appetizers were still very good. Unfortunately forgot to take pictures but we ordered Saganaki Keftedes, and grilled octopus. The last time we were here they had large prawns which were amazing. It was no longer on the menu so I got the jumbo shrimp dish. I was disappointed as I guess I was hoping jumbo was a bit larger than what I was served. I don't know that four pieces of shrimp on a bed of spinach was worth $39. I had a choice of sides and chose the lemon potatoes which I normally love. These were dry and I felt had been sitting around too long. There was only one waiter serving but as we were enjoying a leisurely dinner, we hardly noticed. I would have given 4 stars for the appetizers but I just couldn't do it because of my entree. read more

This place is a dump, more like a diner than a restaurant. The lights were brought down so low All I kept thinking about was sleep, the food took forever to come out there were about 50 people crammed on top of each other because the place barely has any room for a party of 10 yet they made room for 50 people, tables on top of tables elbows rubbing elbows and the sound of chatter was unbearable, could barely hear myself think, couldn't talk to my friends, We had to ask for bottles of wine about 10 times before we got served, the food came out cold when it finally did arrive, by that time I wasn't even hungry anymore so me and my wife happened to leave early. I do not recommend eating here unless you wanna pay to be tortured, the owner slash waiter is a disgruntled old man... instead of coming out to the tables and asking how everyone is doing and if their enjoying their food, he was taking orders like he was angry to be doing so. He should consider changing the name of the diner from Greek islands to angry islands. Projecting an attitude to customers is not the way to go my friend and for those of you that are giving 4 star reviews, you must have gotten drunk before entering the place and got drunker leaving it. this place is not even worthy of one star. With that said. enter this place at your own risk. I'd rather give my money away to the homeless on the street right next door to the place than to actually go in there and spend my money. As we walked in we were being acknowledgedn and being seated promptly. Cozy artsy decor. Dim lighting perfect for dinner for you. Our waiter came over to let us know their dinner specials. I was convinced try one of his presentation. We started with toasted pita bread and chick peas. They were good and complimentary. Here what we ordered : Grilled Octopus - was bet good. Nicely seasoned and tender. Grilled Sauages - they were ok. A bit too char. In learned my learn not ordering Sauages in Greek resturant as its always a disappointment. Lamb shank-the dinner special- oh my a great choice. Was delish. Flavorful and juicy. Grilled Branzino- a must. Was perfect. Well seasoned and prepared. We usually do not order desert but they have sobert. My husband can have as he is latose. Its called Bloody Mary orange sobert. It was to die for. So good and refreshing. At the end we were given two almond cookies on thne house. What more can we ask for. We had a great time and enjoyed every moment. Definitely return when we get a chance. Local gem and a favorite in my book. Had another fantastic dinner service here last night. I even had the same waiter, Pete (from my last visit in May)! You rock! First for recognizing me and then for the attentive service all throughout my 3.5 - 4 hour dinner, yeah on purpose. Great wine, excellent food, and lovely company. My neighborhood besties wanted a ladies night out and we're all foodies so this place was the perfect spot for a summer dinner. Appetizers for dinner ... oh yeah! One main course to share and lots of dessert. Must try appetizers: - Grilled Octopus - tender, grilled to perfection, sliced so it's easy to share, and the flavors of the olive oil and peppers, spot on. This is easily my favorite dish here. - Trio of dips - another dish I always order, this time we changed up the flavors and I recommend this order - melitzanosalata (fire roasted eggplant), taramosalata (carp roe mousse with red caviar), and the hummus. Very refreshing and light. Endless pita points as you wish. - Tiganita - fried zucchini and/or eggplant chips. You have the option of getting just the one kind or a combination of the two. We opted for the combo - thanks to Pete for suggesting that. Crisp and delicious. Given it was thicker slices (not paper thin like others do), it held it's own all night on the plate. Didn't get soggy and while best when hot but it was great even at room temperature. Served with tzatziki which I loved as well. - Pantzaria (salad) - sliced beets served over arugula and accompanied with skordalia (garlic and potato spread). I've never had skordalia before and this was hands down, the best part of the dish. It went really well with the better. The beets were sliced rounds, soft texture and encircled the skordalia. Pete was so great, he explained what it was and really sold it. Last night's specials were all explained by Pete. And he promptly answered questions we had. He also made a note of my shrimp allergy (as my reservation on Open Table noted), so he mentioned what I could or could not have as he explained each. Very helpful and considerate how he did it. Some places just note it and don't tell me what to avoid. He did so pleasantly and detailed the ingredients of each. We ended up getting the soft shell crab entree to share. There are two pieces served on a plate and comes with a side of your choice. We picked the lemon potatoes. The crabs were quite a good size. There was a smoky hint to it. It was very flavorful but this dish is only good if you're a fan. I normally do not care to order this as many restaurants skim on portion and mix up too many flavors. Crab meat is delicate and slightly sweet so it's best served plain in my book or just with a side of liquid butter. Desserts: We ordered a mix of two scoops of ice cream. One fig and one scoop baklava. Excellent. I've never had either but totally recommend both. This was a perfect way to end our night. Also, compliments of the house, they gave us diples. One per person. I've never seen them before but I'm totally a fan. Fried, rolled dough drizzled with honey and topped with blueberries. Light and airy. There spin on this classic is how it was rolled. The shape was like a flower. Pretty to look at and to eat. Pete was always checking in on us and refilled our water many times throughout the evening. So attentive. And he also gave us space and time to enjoy our desserts and each other's company. Never once rushed us. Excellent service. read more

We were served Chickpeas in a wonderful dressing great for dipping the pita bread on the table. Our drink order was a large carafe of Retsina, my fave Greek Wine. Well...the wine was relatively tasteless and not a good example of What Retsina should taste like...over priced at $28! For appys we got Hummus and Spinach Pie. Hummus was not what i expected from a Greek Restaurant..not tasty and the consistancy Meh! needed olive oil and seasoning.Spinach Pie on the other hand was pretty good. For mains we ordered; Lamb Souvlaki - looked good but under cooked...couldnt cut with a steak knife Sardine Dinner - excellent Large Horiatiki with Gyro Meat - Salad was delish but meat served on side was overcooked, dry and hard. Couldnt have been freshly sliced!! The Gigantes Beans and Okra were good and very importantly...the service was great! Waiter was personable and a pleasure to deal with. We love it here! The appetizers are always on point -- tzatziki is perfectly garlicy, octopus soft and nicely grilled, fried kalamarakia airy and light and the cheese pies with honey a great mix of sweet and salty. Fish is always fresh and often local! The lamb with orzo special was out of this world. They also had grilled soft shell crabs today and they were AMAZING--we keep thinking about them. And possibly the best for last-- the side dishes! I've never seen such a great selection of sides. The okra is my favorite-- it's not slimy, try it! Lemon potatoes are great, stuffed eggplant and Briam are delicious and the horta lemony and cleansing. They have a great beer & wine selection and both the fig and mastiha ice cream are perfect endings to a big meal. Wish I had more tzatziki right now! read more
