This organization, Rothman Orthopaedics, demonstrated a complete failure in handling my father's care during a critical time in his life. My father has stage 4 terminal cancer, and due to their inability to properly receive and process a referral, five months were wasted. After numerous phone calls and repeated follow-ups on my part, the staff eventually stated that Dr. Durfee had reviewed my father's case and scheduled an appointment. At that time, I explicitly confirmed that insurance authorization had already been completed. However, just one week before the scheduled visit, we were informed that the authorization had never been submitted. To make matters worse, we were then told that they do not even accept my father's Humana insurance. Additionally, after speaking directly with my father's oncologist, I learned that no one from Rothman Orthopaedics had ever contacted their office, despite me being told that a consultation between Dr. Durfee and the oncologist had taken place. This level of miscommunication, misinformation, and administrative failure is unacceptable--especially when dealing with a patient facing a life-limiting illness where time is incredibly valuable. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Rothman orthopedics, in particular Dr. Sookhoo and the staff at Lake Underhill office. I had an injury resulting in a fractured wrist and tibial plateau, both requiring surgery. Dr Sookhoo did a great job pre op, explaining options, the procedures and listening to my concerns. The surgery and follow up have been excellent. As for the staff, they were extremely helpful in assisting me with paperwork needed to get temporary wheelchair tag and required documents I needed to get reimbursement for a cruise I had to cancel. They are always pleasant, they get back to me in a timely manner and genuinely seem happy to help. I've seen several complaints of wait times. Maybe as a retired RN I can understand the unpredictable events that can cause delays in a schedule. I've had one visit with a longer wait time (almost one hour) in which I was informed they were behind. When they got to me, even though it was the very end of the day, I was given full time and attention. I highly recommend! read more

Rollins location. The check in process is cumbersome, lengthy, there is no privacy and it's impersonal. I work patient care and this is ridiculous. An email could have taken care of all the necessary stuff I just did on a kiosk. People are also lined up to check in because as a new patient, you're answering all the questions the nurse should be going over with me. It took over 10 minutes. No greeting when we walked in. I don't know why they even have any front desk clerks. They don't do much. We'll see how the rest of it goes. read more

The check-in kiosk process is stream lined and simple, especially if you pre-check via the link, sent directly to your phone. The clinic is spotless, all personnel were friendly, professional, and prompt. Dr Huffman is not only the kindest man, but also an excellent surgeon.... ( check out his credentials online) My anatomic shoulder replacement was painless, ( yes, painless), and the follow up care was unmatched. Rathmon orthopedic is terrible especially the one Ib lake Underhill. Dr Samantha was terrible from the lake Underhill office. The nurse were terrible. And when I arrived to get my stitches out of my knee there was no one there at the front door to give me a wheelchair to get to my appointment. And the nurses and them didn't like the idea of me walking on my legs. I told them how am I supposed to go to get cleaned up or something if they didn't want me to use my leg. If you have chronic pain in your limbs/feet avoid this Winter Park office. They are dismissive, uninterested and uncaring. My husband brought recent xrays (less than a week old) from the VA but was told he'd have to have duplicates done there. The cursory exam by the doctor resulted in his pronouncement that there was nothing he could do--no relevant information about cause, diagnosis, therapies, follow-up. He was told to go home and "enjoy your life" and given a sheet of paper to order inserts through Amazon. I was stunned and angered, and my husband was depressed, by his flippant and cruel dismissal of a disabled veteran in his 80s. Don't put yourself through the agony we went through. All in all, great for the moment, not sure I'd go back willingly. We were referred to Rothman after an ER visit. They were able to get us in the same day, which was great. Not their fault but they advised that the elevator was out of service. Fortunately it was only on the 2nd floor, which wasn't a great choice for an orthopedic office. Check in left a lot to be desired. Both representatives at the desk were available, but I was directed to complete registration at an iPad, but then had to go back to the desk to give more info. Despite completing online forms from home, and getting confirmation that all was complete, there were more (including typos in the history portion). We weren't brought back until 20 minutes after our appt. From there, our experience improved. Our provider was personable and kind, and it was helpful having an onsite office to get a brace. It was a total waste of time. i then went to Penn Medicine where I had a thorough examine and given better options as how to handle my situation. The worse Orthopedic practice in town! 0 stars! They are SO very impersonal, awful! from the beginning of my FIRST new appointment; I was scheduled with an assistant to the Dr who was 9 months pregnant? After her diagnosis she scheduled an injection for my affected muscle; the doctor who injected me says this should give you some relief ... haha I left his office, I didn't even get to the elevator that I felt my same pain & discomfort; I think he injected me water (can't wait to see the charge$ he made to my insurance). Since my first Dr went on a pregnancy leave; I was bounced around to another assistant to the Dr. for a follow up in two months. At the meantime, since the injection or sucky therapy didn't work and I am still in pain, I called in for more meds; I was told NO w/o seeing a Dr. So I waited (addicted to Acetaminophen) for my follow up appointment (2 months after being diagnosed) I get a vms (voicemail) the night before that my appointment was cancelled due to limited resources. Really? The next offered appointment was 3 weeks out? They DON'T care about their patients! They are so impersonal and a very bureaucratic practice! Stay away! And Rothman Therapy Practice sucks as well! the first evaluation visit was very impersonal & unfriendly. They made me do exercises that I already know how to do at home? There is NO manipulation treatment at all!!! which I could had used & needed. So while I am doing my known exercises (which are NOT helping me at all) they alternate you with 2 other patients & soon after, you are kicked out with no further recommendations or what to at home? They don't care if you are in pain? Not for a $45 copay. I just rather watch YouTube videos that gives me more relief & a lot less stress than having to experience an awful therapy $e$$ion. We were referred here by advent health. It was pretty much a seamless experience. They have iPads at the front lobby to enter your information/check in. Some people don't like that but I'm not sure why since everyone in the lobby was on their phones while waiting. I don't think our wait time was terribly long, we were in and out within the hour for our first appointment and I think that's fine. The staff were nice and the doctor was informative. We have many more follow ups for the issue we went for and I don't foresee any issues. For younger kids though, you may want a place that is pediatric focused but for teens and up, I would recommend this facility. read more

They schedule too many people at the same time. I had an appointment for 2pm and wasn't seen until 3:20pm. I had taken my son out of school early for this appointment and missed 2 meetings at work. The front desk and / or scheduler are inexperienced. I have had a better experience at the new towers location. Post treatment: I must say Dr. Bernstein was a breath of fresh air and explained the situation and apologized for the hour and a half wait and took good care of my son; In addition someone did reach out to me to discuss the situation but I think the only discussion needed is to not overbook like an airline and respect the patients time just as the patient respects the Rothmans time by arriving 15 minutes early. read more

May 29 th had an appointment for my first gel injection on my right knee with Dr Clair. The last appointment I had to wait over an hour so when I went in today and arrived on time I asked if it would be a long wait. The man went to the back and I payed my $40 copay. I waited patiently and he finally returned and the answer I received shocked me! He told me that they had run out of gel injections and that I would need to reschedule! I told him I lived an hour away and that they had now inconvenienced myself and my husband. How could the staff be so unprofessional as to not have the right amount of injections available ? Then to top it all off they could not call me in advance to let me know! He said they just found out! I was outraged and asked to speak to the manager. This idiot said he was the manager and I said so you better call someone above you! So he made me wait again I went to the bathroom down the hall and the door did not lock Someone walked in on me! The building is nice. But Dr. Vijapura was not nice or friendly, she was very young and not well with people. She did the procedure on my back and when it did not work she became hostile with me like it was my fault. She left the room and never returned. She sent the nurse and with the papers to dismiss me. Maybe because she is so young and inexperienced she thinks she can disrespect people. I think this is the first time I have ever written up a Dr or fired one. The need to work with her on being caring and respectful. Not all procedures work the first time. And to top it off try getting your records from here. almost impossible. I have filled out the form which said 24/48 hours they make you do it online. That was a week ago and after two follow-up calls, they said today they will try to expedite it. If you've ever played the children's game called Telephone, you know upon what Rothman based their patients' response system. Incredibly even after undergoing an operation, you cannot directly call your doctor's office. Your call will be received by an operator who cannot or will not give a direct phone number. You have to give them a message they will allegedly relay to that office. The first time I called on behalf of my wife and gave them her date of birth, they sent the massage to my doctor instead, I assume based on caller ID. The second time I called simply requesting a callback, they did return the call but I was in the bathroom. They left a message directing me back to the main relay phone. Numerous followup calls to that number did not result in a callback. Calls to administrative offices resulted in the same unfulfilled promise of a callback. My wife's surgery resulted in a brace immobilizing her leg. The brace subsequently broke but it proved impossible to report the defect. This seems like an unacceptable medical practice. read more

You have to call a call center in PA to even talk to someone, then you have to talk to 5 more people. If/when they call you back they have absolutely no clue what you are trying to achieve. You can explain to whom ever you speak with on the phone, when/if hey call you back it is completely off base from what your needs are. Totally unprofessional office. Had a 3 pm appointment for the orthopedic doctor. Arrived at 2:40. Sat and sat. At 3:45 asked how much longer, told I am next to be called back, no one else in the waiting room. At 4:05 asked again, then at 4:10 lady came in and said I needed an X-ray. I then asked how long it would be to see the doctor, she said he still had several patients ahead! I went to the front desk and said I'm leaving and wanted to speak with the office manager, she was not in, they didn't want to give me her number to call, had to wait an additional 10 minutes before I got a number. Filing a grievance with my insurance carrier, and may also do one with advent hospital since they are one of their preferred groups. read more

My mother had a spinal tumor removed by Dr. Fassett. It was in a complicated spot, but Dr. Fassett competed the surgery with the best outcome possible. Her symptoms resolved quickly, and she was up and moving within a few days. On top of outstanding skills and experience, Dr. Fassett is also kind, reassuring, answers all questions, and very responsive. He works with a wonderful staff at Rothman. Our family is beyond thrilled with the results and would recommend Dr. Fassett to anyone. read more

Dr. King ordered an X-ray after watching me struggle to get into the exam table. His response after viewing the X-rays is "Your femur is fractured." Now while this may seem normal and all, it's not for my situation. I injured myself in late April and it was not until July 31st that someone listened to me and actually paid attention to what I had to say. I went to my doctor's office 6 times with no resolve. I also visited Orlando orthopedic 3 times with no resolve. So, thank you Dr. King for listening to me instead of just getting me in and out with no resolve. read more

This paper work is very important as it let's my employer know the days I'll be needing the therapy recommended by Doctor Nicole(Nikki) Wilson. This doctor seemed annoyed every time I needed the sick verification form signed by her. Also, she refused to fill out the family leave for my job in order to take my therapies. Seems that Rothman Orthopedics has a side business with another company to get forms like this filled out at a very expensive charge. RIDICULOUS!!! That I pay for this doctor's visit that did not spent 10 minutes with me and she could not take a minute to fill this easy forms. read more

If you are looking for THE BEST Orthopedic surgeon, you found him! Dr Durfee!! Let me tell you how I found the best! I have had an issue with my leg for almost a year. A string of unfortunate incidents happened one after another which led up to a biopsy in the latter part of this year and subsequently a surgery. Along the course of the year, I injured my knee, I later tore a calf muscle, and then I had a minor tear in my upper thigh, ironically by pushing in a New Nordic Track into my garage. (Yes, all on the same leg). Having thought that was all behind me, I still experienced discomfort in my knee/leg. So I went back to my Sports Doctor, and after a few visits he visits, he found an anomaly. From there my Sports Doctor recommended a celebrated Orthopedic surgeon from his own group (I'll refer to them as Group B). I was told that this recommended doctor was known to request many tests, but he was the "one". I went through almost every test you can imagine. It was time-consuming, expensive, scary and it didn't do much for my peace of mind but I followed through. This doctor, who I'll refer to as Dr Y, had been around for a few decades and apparently very well known for his Orthopedic Surgery/Oncology. I sensed he had experience but what is important to me is empathy and a chance to ask questions without feeling as if I was limited to just one per visit. His answers lacked any sort of comfort and was decidedly vague. His bedside manner, despite being civil made me uneasy so I searched for alternatives, despite being scheduled for surgery with him that September. While looking for a second opinion, I would come across a few Orthos and Doctors, each telling me over and again that Dr.Y was "the only game in town"; "the one" and If I wanted to find someone else of "equal", I would have had to venture out to Tampa or elsewhere. Hearing that, I felt quite unsettled; resigned. Despite my concerns, I left it to my Higher Power and proceeded along with the cards laid out. As mentioned, I was scheduled for surgery in September but unfortunately, I had to move it down (2 months later) before Thanksgiving since I was needed at work and I wanted to make the best of the holiday for healing. That was the plan at least, but it still didn't feel right. I did not feel comfortable with Dr Y. Amazing how things turn out. Fast-forward to November, days before surgery, I went to pre-admission that Dr Y's scheduler had planned out months ahead for my surgery which she said was all set. Imagine my surprise and disappointment at that visit, when I was told they didn't accept my insurance! The scheduler didn't do her due diligence. She assured all was clear! But the whole thing had to be cancelled. I had to reschedule everything with work. I didn't even receive an apology for the error! They wanted to re-schedule me to a small clinic instead of a hospital which didn't have overnight stay options (just in case) and my concern was met with "we'll provide you with more meds and instructions". Wow. They told me that they had issues obtaining a time slot for surgery at the other hospital and that I would have to wait until a month later if I wanted the procedure at that hospital. Once again they offered a clinic where I would go directly home after major surgery. Days later, this is where they redeemed themselves. They referred me to Dr.Durfee. I called DR Durfee's office and the ladies at the front line like Genesis and Denise were amazing. I met Dr Durfee right after Thanksgiving and a week later, I was in the surgery room. A shout out to Christine, the Doctor's scheduler, she is definitely one of the nicest and genuine persons outside Dr Durfee. She was very detailed, thoughtful and stayed focus with me despite outside requests from the office. It really made a difference! TL;DR Dr Durfee, is the antithesis of Dr Y. He's warm, down-to-earth and from the start, I felt like I wasn't "just a patient". He answered my questions to the best of his abilities. He didn't sugar-coat nor did he make it feel bleak. He was earnest and warm. What more, you can just sense the humble confidence that only comes from experience and he spoke matter-of-factually but with compassion. I immediately felt "right" and I trusted him with his suggestions. I didn't like some things I heard at first, but I knew it was coming from a genuine source and I am so glad that I did. Right before surgery, he came to greet me and asked me if I had any questions. I was happy to see him and I felt good! Now for the proof in the pudding. After a successful procedure (and two nights stay at the hospital ), a nurse showed me a before and after x-ray. OMG Dr Durfee! I said to him, "You are an artist!". It was incredible what he did! I am so grateful. I am still in recovery right now but I wanted to let others know that Dr. Durfee is in town and here to stay! If you need an Orthopedic Surgeon/Oncologist, Dr Durfee is the new authority. He is the one! Thank you Dr Durfee! read more

DRothman Orto does not have appointments in line with Er patients. Leaving the ER I was given their name and number to call for an appointment. I was told the first available for my injury (cracked pelvis) would be 6 weeks- beaks usually take 6 weeks to heal. ER doctor said not to put any weight on the injury. Can you imagine being laid up for 6 weeks waiting for an appointment. I called back and got an appointment in two weeks with a hip doctor (closest thing to my injury). That doctor, Dr Clair, told me to "get up" and not very nice when he said it. I hadn't walked for two weeks and needed assistance. I couldn't lift my feet off the ground. So physical therapy was needed. When I called back to get help with getting a handy cap parking pass, they didn't seem to know how to provide that information. Later, when needing an extension for FML just to cover for time in physical therapy, they wouldn't help with that either. Providing patient care is not their expertise. Try another doctor group. You'll be glad you did. read more

MD Nicole Wilson in Lake Nona office, we we're very disappointed how upset she would get when we requested documentation filled out to be out of work and return to work, on the the first visit I gave her the benefit of the doubt and didn't give her a review to give her a second chance but on follow up when she gave the same attitude and only spent like 5 minutes with us, that's when I definitely confirmed and decided to leave a review, very unfortunate that Advent Health has hired providers that don't follow their mission and don't care about the patient, they have to understand that people work and when providers give orders to get physical therapy but won't fill out the documentation and have third party companies that you have to pay extra to fill out paperwork is very disappointing. read more

i went to Rothman because I thought they were a good orthopedic practice. I couldn't have been mitaken more. I have a hip issue and I was in noticeable pain. I saw the ortho doctor and had an X-ray with a follow up with the "hip" surgeon at Rothman. That was 3 weeks later. I saw the surgeon and he wanted to have an MRI to insure the issue. So the mri was scheduled abe I had a follow up visit 3 weeks later. Mind you my pain was progressing. So I arrived at the appointment at The time I was told. They proceeded to tell me that I missed my appointment due to them. I asked if the surgeon can squeeze me in. He said "No". My only option was to reschedule, first availability being a month and a half out.At that point, I asked for my files. The hip surgeon distinctly said "we don't like to see our patients in pain. We will get you better. Truth is they are too busy to care for their patients. Both Lake Mary and Wintergarden. They disregarded the fact I was in a lot of pain for 2 months already and just shoved me to the back of the line even though they were at fault. I recommend Jewitt or anyone else but Rothman Orthopedics. read more

I visited Rothman Orthopaedic on the recommendation of an Advent ER doctor who said that I needed an MRI, which the ER does not provide. The event that brought me to the ER was a sudden and extreme knee issue. I stood up and felt a pop and tear, then an intense pain and burn in my knee that left me unable to bear weight on that leg. I saw Dr. Jason Epstein, who performed a manual examination of my knee. Some of his poking and prodding was painful, and I cried out. No apology on his part, just a conclusion that I had no soft-tissue damage and that he didn't see a need for an MRI. He diagnosed my issue as arthritis, conceding that there might be some ligament tearing, saying, "It doesn't matter because the treatment is the same." He refused to order an MRI. I told him the insurance company must like him, which provoked a defensive response from him. He said he could give me a cortisone shot, which I declined because I have had them in the past without significant relief. I asked for pain medication. "We don't do that here," was his response. He also suggested NSAIDS when just five minutes earlier I told him NSAIDS are contraindicated for me (gastric sleeve), indicating that he was not listening to me. He told me to take Tylenol, which I have been taking, and which does very little to take the edge off the pain. We mutually agreed on six weeks of physical therapy, although I am going to begin PT without a definitive diagnosis and while I am in pain. I need a walker or crutches to ambulate. Nor did he provide a satisfactory explanation of how arthritis can cause a popping and tearing sensation. I've had arthritis in my knees for years but have never experienced a searing pain like this before. Dr. Epstein appeared bored and uninterested. He didn't even suggest a follow-up visit to evaluate the efficacy of the PT. He minimized my pain without a shred of compassion or empathy. I hope that this post will encourage Rothman to reconsider how they treat patients. In the meantime, I will seek orthopedic treatment elsewhere. read more
