Care Quality. Physician bed side manner The minute Dr Patel entered the room he was rude, condescending, arrogant and just an ass. He treated me as if I was a major inconvenience. He would ask me a question during the procedure and then all but accuse me of lying. I was 70 years old at the time. He showed no respect, injected my hand with me standing with my hand held out over the sink. Evidently there was some kind of bleeding issue so he told me to return in two days for follow up. When I did, he accused me of "just showing up" without an appointment I assure you, I had a follow up appointment. When I returned to have my stitches taken out, he was Mr Niceguy. I believe his office staff told him how out of line he was and he was trying to make up for it. Even the office manager came in and asked for a good review on Yelp I realize this happened a few years ago but at the time, I felt humiliated and just plain hurt. I've never forgotten this rude, insolence behavior from anyone. By the way, my trigger finger has healed and not caused me any more problems. My doctor referred me to this facility for an issue with my hand/thumb. This location is downtown, parking, at least, not on the times I have been, has been an issue. We always find parking right in front of the building. The lobby is big, there are 2 elevators. These offices are busy, extremely busy, securing an appointment is fast paced, take it and if you leave it you will be waiting for a long time. They are good about placing you on a wait list and texting you when something opens up. The waiting area is small & because of covid, seats are separated, thankfully. There are seats in the hallway too. Masks are required. The office visit was quick, the follow up also. They served my needs & will probably visit again if needed. My only issue is, we must normalize clinics, doctors offices, being proactive and informing patients of what will be done, because that would have avoided another unnecessary x-ray. read more

Dr Patel and the office staff here are excellent. I have pain in my left arm and assumed for years it was because of a cyst on my wrist pressing on a nerve or something. Come to find out it's a command nerve in my elbow and not the cyst at all. Luckily it's not something requiring surgery at this time so yay! I've been several times between the initial consultation appointment and the follow ups. Appointments are easy to make and the phone staff was good at working with my schedule to make it work. They have early morning and later afternoon appointments for those with strict work schedules. Check in at the front desk has always been seamless. They're quick and informative. The wait times are never long despite a very busy office. Overall: A+ If you need an upper extremity doctor, surgical or otherwise, highly recommend! read more

I've included pictures of my cast below because it's not very comfortable in the front portion of my hand. I also don't have as much use of my thumb as I did with the splint that was just removed at my appointment on January 25th. The top portion of my cast is fine, and there is enough cushioning, but the bottom portion where the medical assistant attempted to cut is very jagged and cuts into my skin when I bend my fingers, and the cushioning that should be protecting it isn't staying in place and slides into my cast, and it's also jagged around my thumb, and there isn't enough cotton there, even though the pictures may not reflect that well. I'd also like to clarify that I'm not trying to discredit Lily; she was extremely pleasant and patiently answered all of my questions. And I'm sure she puts on casts very well because I asked for extra cushioning around my elbow area, which she did for me; it was just that I felt a lack of care when I asked the Front Desk lady if I could see Lily again so she could fix the front of my cast; I was willing to wait because I knew she was busy. However, the front desk lady simply sent in a medical assistant who did not provide the level of care I required during my visit. I'd also like to mention that I don't live in the Orlando area, so traveling back to the office to get my cast fixed isn't something I can do easily, which is why when I returned upstairs to try to get it fixed, it was disheartening that I was basically ignored and not properly taken care of. I understand that casts aren't supposed to be comfortable, as I've had previous long arm casts from other surgeries. But this was not acceptable read more

Lilli the PA put me is a 1/2 cast last week for a spiral fracture on my right pinky. Today she was going to hard cast the injury. I asked if I would not be able to wash my hands or use hand sanitizer? I also needed to be able to type, write and bend my wrist. I was very worried because of COVID and I wash my hands 6 to 7 tines a day. She wrote me a script for the Hand Therapy place and they saw me today! Rebecca made two casts. Working cast so I can type and write she also made a sleeping cast. They were awesome and I can wash the casts and my hands with dial soap! Thank you for listening to my needs during this pandemic! As a diabetic, I've had multiple issues with my hands starting quite some years ago. I started experiencing terrible pain in my hands and pretty soon they were going numb to the point where it was concerning. I decided to make an appointment at OHSA after a recommendation from my husband's childhood friend who went to school with one of the doctors. I had double carpal tunnel surgery in 2017 and I can honestly say that the care I received was incredible. I made an appointment with Dr Brian White as a new patient. I'm having numbness, pain and have three bumps on my wrist. I was excited to see him but very disappointed. I waited 80 minutes and still didn't get to see him. Apparently , they overbook. However , my time is valuable too therefore after 80 minutes I had to leave. Ruined my entire day and still in pain. I formerly saw Dr Pirrozollo for my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in both hands when he was with this practice. I Loved him & always felt he provided Kind, Compassionate Care. When my right hand began to get more severe, I remembered hearing from Dr Pirrozollo that Dr George White was the best Dr to do the surgery when I was ready. When I called in late February of this year (2024) I was told the first available appointment in Winter Garden, which is the closest office for me at this point, was six weeks away, on April 11. I took it, but was able to get an earlier appointment (April 4) because of a cancellation. I called the downtown office almost every day for three weeks, in case another cancellation would help me see him sooner, as the pain had become debilitating, to no avail. When April 4 finally came, I arrived at the office prepared & eager to see Dr White, at which time I was told I must wear a mask to be able to see him. I have respiratory problems that make me UNABLE to wear a mask. Nevertheless the receptionist said they would have to cancel the appointment if I could not wear a mask. NOT ONCE, in all the times I spoke with people in that office during the SIX WEEKS I had been endeavoring to get an appointment, did ANYONE tell me that I would be REQUIRED to wear a mask at the Winter Garden office. IF ANYONE had had the decency to make that known to me, I would have Gladly foregone seeing Dr George White and sought another surgeon. I was heartbroken at finding this Dr, of whom I had heard such good things, to be so heartless that he could turn away a patient in great pain and need of help, because the patient could not wear a mask. I'm certain that masks have been PROVEN to be ineffective at best, and as in my case, capable of doing more harm than good, which increased my bewilderment at how I was treated at this office. In my humble opinion, Dr White can't be "The Best" in his field, or even deserve the term "Physician" and be a part of whatever entity has taken this heartless position. I ve been calling this facility for almost 2 weeks to check if they have received a referral from my doctor every time I call they claim that have tons of faxes in the machine and it takes 2 days to go through them . I know my primary doctor sent them the referral twice I have to transmission confirmation from both times it was sent. I feel like I am begging them to get their service. I have my insurance I am sure that I won't get the care for free. Lousy customer service I am searching for another clinic for my condition I have a few I won't get the care that I will need from this people. I am trying to get an appointment not a date . For being medical professionals they don't really seem like it. EVERY time I come here I'm waiting over an hour for my set appointment time. I have patients checking in after me that are being seen before me. When I had my surgery done I was being seen by one dr for all the visits. Come surgery time I have a different dr that I haven't seen once performing the surgery. Save your time and go to Jewett ortho or anywhere else. Not good...the doctor I saw gave me NO information regarding the x-rays that were taken during my appointment. I never received the results of my blood work and no one followed up from the office regarding my care. I still do not know what is wrong with me after waiting a few months for an appt. The office staff was very rude when I called for my results. The office manager did not call me back and really this is the worst level of service I have ever received from a medical office. I hurt my thumb pretty bad bowling and ended up coming to Orlando Hand Surgery to have it looked at. You're able to fill out all the paperwork online prior to your appointment, which speeds up the process. They also take x-rays on site, which is awesome! The doctor is able to look at the x-rays right at your appointment and let you know what's wrong. I ended up spraining my thumb severely and needed to get back to bowling ASAP. Dr. P. was able to fix me up fairly quickly with some added physical therapy and I'm back to bowling, as good as new! I ended up going to see Dr. P. three times and I never had to wait more than 10 minutes in the waiting room for my appointment, which was amazing! I was in and out within 30 minutes every time. Dr. P. is very personable and I'd recommend him to anyone. read more

I had my first appointment yesterday with the physician assistant. Upon arriving I found the waiting room to be completely full. No available seating. It looked like people had been waiting a while. After checking in I began to hear the front office staff asking patients for their medical history out loud so everyone could hear! They tried that with me and I reminded them that they were committing a major HIPAA violation. I got an irritated look and they flinged an iPad my way. They didn't seem concerned about the seriousness of their actions. Apparently they were in the middle of a new implementation of an electronic medical record and were trying to get the outstanding information in as quickly as possible. While I applaud their attempts to respect patients' time, violating privacy rights pretty much invalidates all of their actions. Update. My follow up appointment went bad differently. The PA wrote a script and handed it to me, but apparently also sent it to the pharmacy. I didn't agree with the the treatment so held on to the script but the pharmacy called to harass as to why I hadn't picked it up. I called the office to inform them of their medication error (duplicate script) and the office manager seemed bothered. I'll be going to a different doctor from now on. They are jerks. read more

My primary doctor referred me to Orlando Hand Surgery for de quervain's tenosynovitis. Sounds nasty, right? It's pain in the tendon along the side of the wrist by the thumb, and it is pretty awful. So, first, let's talk about parking. My first visit I found street parking on Orange Ave (by the Citrus Restaurant). I didn't realize there was a parking garage in the back until after I had parked. My second visit I parked in the garage, which you get to by turning down Park Lake Street. There was plenty of parking in the garage, however I would choose street parking over the garage if you can find a good spot. My doctor set me up with an appointment to see Dr. Pirozzolo. My first visit I had a longish wait, it was mid-morning, and I was honestly starting to worry I would get a parking ticket if my appointment ran over. When I was called back they did a quick wrist x-ray and send me to a room to wait. Dr. Pirozzolo examined my wrist, agreed that it was de quervain's tenosynovitis and said a shot in the wrist would fix the problem. He took me to a second room where he numbed my wrist with a spray and then used an ultrasound to aim the hugest needle ever into the right spot in my wrist. Ouch. OK, I'm not afraid of needles, but that was pretty intense. And no "this is going to hurt a little bit" either. He gave me some instructions for how to treat my wrist after the shot and sent me on my way. I asked if I would be able to return to work and he said yes, that I would be fine. Well, I was not fine. By the time I reached my car the pain in my wrist had reached a point much worse than I had ever experienced with it before. After sitting and crying a couple minutes I managed to drive to my husband's work, because I didn't think I would be able to make it to either my work or my home. It was excruciating. After a few hours the pain tapered off, but still stayed worse than normal for several days. I called the office and the person I spoke to said it was normal for the pain to be worse for a few days after the shot. It would have been really nice for the doctor to give me some warning about that one. Sure enough, after a couple weeks the pain is completely gone, so I'm overall happy with the procedure. On my return visit I scheduled a morning appointment and was called back at exactly my scheduled time, which was nice. Both appointments were very fast. Another nice thing is that they have a cool computer system so that when you come in your records are right there and easy for the doctor to know what is going on. I think that helps him go through patients so fast. read more

Sucks so bad. I totally regret it. Dr's bedside matter sucks staff Inconsiderate Disrespectful , rude and just plain out has no heart period this place was supposed to send paperwork in and absolutely refused to do it because I didn't pay A signature or to have a form filled out. Didn't know I was supposed to. No one ever called or ever. Let me know that this was my responsibility. They received the paperwork multiple times, not once. Did they decide to say Hey, we should probably call this person?" This is important paperwork. They need to pay us to have it filled out. Not once absolutely horrible, I will never, ever go back for my check-up. I will not recommend this doctor's office to anybody, as a matter of fact. I'm posted negative things all over the internet and regards to it. I lost over $1000 of pay. Because they refused to send a For in whitout it being paid for. Tried to explain the situation. I was in to have them. Try to hurry up and get paperwork over. Because I am losing all kinds of things. Disconnect house is up for grabs all because they refused to sign a paper. Send it over or even notify me that I had to pay for something to have it done. This is absolutely ridiculjust. Sorry to rent and rave, but this is the way it is. We fortunately stumbled into the care of Dr. Patel by chance. I had an accident in the morning getting ready for work and sliced my upper lip open pretty badly. After a lot of debating back on forth on what to do, we ended up in the ER of ORMC and saw a few physicians who said what we'd expected - I needed stitches. I'm a professional so my face looking okay and healing normally seemed pretty important. We asked if there was a plastic surgeon at the hospital. They stated thay Dr. Patel was on call at his private office and that he'd be able to see me there. We zipped over there and did some research on the way. Top of his class at UF, Yale med, and published countless times. Even with all that going in, we were still blown away with his professionalism and demeanor. He got us back even with a busy schedule and stitched me up. My lip healed beautifully and he made what was a very stressful situation seem very manageable. My girlfriend was so impressed, she decided to consult with him regarding some Botox and esthetics. He was honest, and frankly, his fees were comparable to what we were paying for a PA to do the same treatment. We're both incredibly happy with the outcomes and the treatment we received. Horrible experience. My surgery site even got infected and they sent me home with a "care bag" and didn't even touch it. I called several times as my PT keep telling me that my symptoms and how it felt was not "normal" stitches kept 'popping out'... the nurse kept telling me that it was just "healing" until I told her that a brownish drainage was coming out of my cast. They had to take my cast off before the original recommended time AND charged me additionally for taking it off and applying a different one. My "Doctor" was Brian the owners son and I would not recommend it to anyone. FYI I even send a letter with my experience and complaining about the extra bill, they didnt even have the courtesy of replying, I called to verify that it was received I was told "the Dr. said the bill is valid" and nothing more. read more

I was referred to Dr. Brian White from my Neuro doc after EMG tests revealed Carpel Tunnel in both hands and wrists. His staff was most helpful in providing me with new patient setup info and appt setting. Dr. White was personable, and well versed in his field of work as a physician. He advised that while we can try to mitigate that, it is likely more of a cervicle issue, and gave me a steroid shot in my wrist. I saw him on followup and he highly recommended that I followup with Ability physical therapy which I am doing. I was impressed with him, and will be following up with him in a few months for a progress report. I was also referred to Pain Management by my neuro doc as I have several spinal and nerve issues throughout. Pain management also recommended physical therapy to mitigate. It seems its all linked which was quite a surprise to me. I highly recommend this group and Dr. Brian White. I appreciated his straight forward advice. read more

I can't really comment on how the actual physician service is, because, after 3 phone calls attempting for more than a week to make an appointment, I was still unable to. My physician, as well as my insurance, have provided them with faxed referrals, and proof that it is covered by my insurance, only to be told today, on my third try by an unpleasant phone receptionist with a chip on her shoulder, that they still have to investigate whether my insurance will pay for it or not! The fact that they apparently misplaced the first fax of a referral from my physician on 10-6 (six days ago), along with the receptionists attitude makes me wary of how dedicated to the patient they are. She's not at all, so, I'm getting another referral from my physician. I understand working conditions due to all sorts of reasons these days, can be less than optimal. But if you put up with unprofessional, unpleasant behavior (from people who are making their living off of you) then that is what you can expect to get. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with Dr. Jason Pirozzolo and Orlando Hand Surgery Associates. First, the office staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I was a little nervous about my appointment since my primary doctor wasn't sure what treatment I needed for a lump in my finger and a shoulder injury. Thankfully, from the moment Dr. Pirozzolo entered the exam room his calm demeanor immediately made me feel at ease. I appreciated that he took his time to explain my diagnosis in terms that were easy to understand and what my options were for treatment. He also made sure all my questions were answered before leaving the exam room. Not once did I feel rushed, which is a rarity these days. A real brainiac this one. But I suppose that's what you want out of someone that's going to take a scalpel to any part of your body. Since my hand surgery I've visited Dr. Patel again for Botox (Shhh! Don't tell anyone) and I'm planning to have a minimally invasive procedure done this year (a lady never shares). I mean, I would wait two hours to see him if my hands were completely mangled and frost bitten and swollen like two balloons. First - I just want to say that everyone at Orlando Hand Surgery Associates (OHSA) was exceptionally helpful and friendly. I hurt my wrist playing basketball, and I knew that I needed a specialist to look at it. After a quick internet search, it was clear that I should call OHSA, and I'm glad I did. I was lucky to get an appointment that day, and after a quick discussion with Dr. Patel, he recommended I get x-rays (done on site!), and then shortly afterwards he reviewed the results with me. Unfortunately for me, I had broken bone. He patiently went through the management of the injury. Weighing the options to treat the fracture I pursued a cast. Dr. Patel took the time to explain everything to me, and expertly put me in a cast and I was on my way back to work. Dr. Patel's confidence and compassion in the situation was much appreciated, as everything was so new to me but I felt like I had a much better understanding afterwards. According to Dr. Patel, everything had healed nicely, and he promptly removed my cast. Ever since this incident, my wrist has felt 100% fine, and I've been able to resume all my normal activities. Dr. Patel even followed-up a few weeks after this last appointment just to make sure everything was ok. My experience with OHSA and Dr. Patel was incredible, and I greatly appreciate his services for both the level of patient care and technical expertise. I was referred to OHSA by my rheumatologist because I needed immediate drainage of my finger due to an infection. I was scheduled with Dr. Patel by coincidence and I am so happy I was. As a patient with RA and Raynaud's Syndrome, I require unique attention. Dr. Patel did just that. He showed extra care and concern throughout my surgery and thereafter. He was upfront with me from the beginning which made me comfortable knowing he was extremely knowledgeable and honest. They may have the best hand surgeon in the state or country, but be prepared to wait a LONG time. You will more than likely be seen 1-2 hours later than your scheduled appointment. The front desk staff makes no efforts to make it any easier (giving a courtesy call to show up later or to schedule your appointment for when you would actually be seen). However, once seen the doctors were great. Just have to get past the waiting room. read more
