I hate to leave a bad review for a central PA small business but here I go. The coffee i ordered this morning was so awful I didnt even try to drink it. I got a cold brew with skim milk and caramel and it tasted like beer....Not the slightest bit like coffee, it was the worst coffee Ive ever had in my entire life. Been wanting to check Rothrock out for a wile, and today's visit did not disappoint. It seemed crouded, but the line moved well, the server was very pleasant and helpful. The coffee and tea were spot on, cold brew on tap was excellent and the son's cortado really higlighted the flavor of the espresso. Wifie got the oolong tea, perhaps the best tea she has had. Pretty good looking lighter food menu, we tried all three of the toast, and can reccomend all of them. It is rare to find this quality in a coffee shop and not get good helping of pretensious attitude. This will have to move from my "like to visit" to my "must visit" list on my trips to the valley. read more

A great addition to the State College coffee scene! Rothrock has both good coffee and espresso beverages. Finding a seat can sometimes be a challenge due to the (warranted) popularity of the business. Outstanding coffee, pour over and cappucino. Haven't tried the food but it looks good. Worst thing i can say is that they used to serve a cookie with the cappucinos but have stopped. Prices comparable with Lemont and Saints but cleaner environment. read more

We went here pretty early on a Friday morning while traveling to NYC and even though it was busy, the staff gave us their full attention. I got a cortado, which had a really balanced flavor - no bitterness in the espresso, super smooth milk. For the exceptional quality of the products, everything was really affordable. Not a place for food. Only 2 sandwich options. Both are pretty much the same. $7.50 and nothing comes with it (No chips no pickle nothing). Some baked goods, but the selection is VERY limited. Coffee options are pretty good. Come here to get a coffee, not to eat. read more

Rothrock is my go-to coffee spot in State College. Their nitro cold brew is delicious, as is any Spectral Tea which is on nitro tap. I love getting a cortado during lunch. The atmosphere inside is great, and the decor is minimalist, allowing the coffee and offerings to speak for themselves. Also, if you are the least big hungry, do yourself a favor and get some avocado toast. If you're extra hungry, put some extra bacon on that ;) read more

Things have changed. Came here on bike, and there was no bike parking (!). The noise level was unworkable, and has to arise every day, now that it is popular because the walls are so stark. So, if you want to work alone with a constant buzz, then, ok. But, we had to leave. The tea was good, though, and service was again friendly. read more

This is a nice addition to State College. The coffee is good and, in my limited experience, there's been ample seating. The minimalist interior design has a fresh, urban feel. Parking is easy and plentiful in the parking lot that is the opposite experience of Starbucks or Saints. Coffee shops are loud by nature, but the acoustics here make it even louder than it has to be (the result of all those hard, modern lines and high ceilings), and at times it can feel harsh. At the risk of sounding older, and less hip than I am, I'd probably turn down the music a smidge. ;) The staff has been mostly friendly and knowledgeable, which is much appreciated! read more

Best place for coffee, studying, catching up with some friends, etc. Coffee is delicious, love the atmosphere, and the staff is pleasant and friendly. Would recommend their new ahi tuna toast or the peach ricotta toast, and an iced matcha latte with honey. I don't know what I'm going to do without my weekly Rothrock fix once I leave State College, but I will definitely be back any chance I get when I come to visit! read more

Coffee is OK but I have been there 4-5 times and have never finished my cup. The atmosphere is fine but the tables are crammed together. Wifi works well. A decent place to get some work done. read more
