I called Roto-Rooter of Guntersville to fix the problem on a water heater that was under warranty for parts and not labor. I payed over 600 for labor for their guesses on the fix. (problem was not fixed) So told them I would not pay for another thing unless it actually fixed my problem. The water heater is only worth 1200 at best so I had already paid for half of a brand new one. The manager said they had been calling Rinnai the whole time. So I called Rinnai and they said they didn't recommend any of the 600 dollars in labor I had spent. Said that Roto-Rooter had deemed the parts bad themselves, and ordered new ones from Rinnai. Rinnai said they had only recommended blowing it out. So I called the manager back and he was rude. He said he would give me the blowing out of the water heater for my troubles but any visit after that would be charged for labor even if it was the same problem and the blowing out did not fix it. Rinnai has good documentation. I was told that my dryer vent was too close. Apparently Roto-Rooter thought this would void my warranty. I called Rinnai about this and they said they recommend it being further away, but it would not mess up the warranty. The dryer vent has been there for 4 years without causing any issues to the water heater. We have never had any trouble out of the water heater until this. They recommended that I move it but that it is still covered under warranty for parts. I plan on running a 90 and getting it away from the exhaust, after it is confirmed to have dryer lint in the intake, and spoke with Rinnai on this. I was never unwilling to move the vent. So I called corporate Roto-Rooter and complained. About the rude manager, the charging without getting anything fixed, and about his worker smoking in my wife's face and throwing Red Bull cans under my house. Corporate reached out to them and the guy never showed for the "free" blowing out of my water heater. I emailed the manager 2 days later and his reply was -"That was before you decided to complain to corporate and everyone else about how rude I was to you and how unfairly we have treated you. Please find another plumbing company, since we are unable to meet your expectations." I've still got the email. So long story short, I would not recommend. I asked them to stop charging me when they're not fixing it and actually fix it, and now I'm 600 dollars down with nothing fixed. Our service man was Ian. Totally impressed with his knowledge of the problem as he explained and showed me what he was having to do. Also very impressed with the way Ian went about repairing the plumbing leak. A trip had to be made to Lowes to acquire parts for the repair and Ian did that in a very timely manner. He talked to us about the issue going forward and we both agreed that further repairs need to be made. He has set us up for these repairs with Roto Rooter, whom I trust the job to do the job needed now because of the work Ian did. read more
