They would offer no estimate other that to ensure that I knew they would charge $149 fee to dispatch a truck to THEN get an estimate. Now I provided all the relevant information for materials cost. Sixty feet of 2-2-2-4 cable to connect a sub-panel, wired without a ground by the previous owner, to the main panel. The entire run would be in the crawlspace of the home. We would not be replacing EITHER the main nor sub-panel, but may be interested in a replacement main-panel with disconnect - should the work to connect the sub-panel go as planned. After 30 minutes on-site, I got a call from the dispatched electrician. They wanted to charge $968 to run roughly $100 (at my retail pricing at the home-center NOT what an electrician pays in bulk) of cable. I told them I would pass. Then I get the attached chat from the owner via their website. So they get my $149 for an estimate, and I get a lesson in dealing with so-called experts.

I feel he prices his work according to your status, gender, what kind of home you have, etc. and takes advantage of unsuspecting folks, even with his "smooth talk" manipulation. He's so ruthless, he even brought his young grandson to crawl under my home to pull wires for him!! The poor kid was scared, but he made him do it, even though I objected! Nice grandfather, huh? Absolutely horrible job. I paid 10k to get an ~200 sqft room studded and sheetrocked. They ran…read moreelectrical wiring and NAILED the wire BETWEEN the sheetrock and the studs (twice!) bulging out the sheetrock and causing electrical fire danger. I had to unscrew the sheetrock and get the wire out. They put sheetrock directly over an electrical outlet with no hole in the sheetrock, causing me to spent hours redoing their work! They nailed THROUGH an electrical outlet box to install it. So I have 2 nails with bare metal exposed inside an electrical box where an outlet is supposed to go-that's a major fire hazard! They spent 2 weeks doing a ~1 week job. They used an electrical sander for mudding with no sheets and spread sheetrock dust all over the basement. 2 months later, still digging out from their mess. Absolutely horrible; overcharged, underperformed, multiple instances of fire SAFETY hazard issues, egotistical jerks. Brian is a real piece of work, horrible individual to work with. Threatened to put a lien on the house b/c they didn't want to clean up dust mess they spread all over the basement (over computers, chairs, couches, etc.) and I wouldn't pay them until they did.
