Gavin is professional, explains the issues clearly, friendly, and efficient. He stayed well past "ordinary hours" to ensure we had showers and was able to get a little invasive on the plumbing without breaking a single tile. He'll be back tomorrow to see about our tub drain; the cylinder stopper is seized in the pipe and the connector was utterly awful and corroded. EDIT: He was back right on time, did his utmost to keep our costs down, and entirely fixed it this morning. Very nice work, nice man. Couldn't be happier with his work. By all means, look to the local guys instead of the big companies when you can. We'll be hiring him for the rest of our plumbing needs.

Gavin gave me the option to buy the part and self install or he could do it for a reasonable price. In my personal experience most just do it and charge quite a lot. Gavin was exceptional and his business practice here was exceptional. I love having options and in this economy it means a lot. Our community needs more businesses like Bullseye!

I called because of a leaky faucet handle and spoke with someone from their call center. The representative I spoke with was honestly one of the nicest customer service people I've ever talked to -- the few stars I gave are for them and them alone. I scheduled a 10 a.m.-12 p.m. window to have the leak checked and get a quote. I let my boss know I'd need to step away from work during that time and even offered to use my lunch break so I wouldn't miss additional time on a personal matter. I kept my phone right in front of me the entire morning -- and waited... and waited... and waited. When noon rolled around, I called customer service. The agent told me I had received a call and voicemail saying my window had been changed to 1-3 p.m. I hadn't received any call, voicemail, or text -- which I thought I would have at least gotten, since I did get a text confirming the original appointment. The agent didn't seem to care or believe me, and tried to rush me off the phone but first I asked her to confirm my number, and have the plumber text when he was on his way so I wouldn't miss him. Then I had to rearrange my lunch break again and get approval to leave work for a second time. At about 1:40 p.m., the plumber texted saying he'd arrive at 2. He showed up at 2:20. Great. I ended up getting back to work 30 minutes late from my lunch. When Paul arrived, I showed him the leak and explained that we rent -- so if it wasn't expensive, I'd just pay for it myself, but if it was, I'd need to contact the landlord. Paul asked, "Well, what do you consider expensive?" I just stared for a second, because I figured he should be the one telling me that. Then he asked, "How much can you -- or are you willing -- to pay to get it done?" Like I was on The Price Is Right. Not wanting to play the guessing game, letting him know I know absolutely nothing about plumbing or the cost I said, "I don't know, maybe $100?" He scoffed, looked at his tablet, and said, "$100? I don't have a single thing on this whole tablet for $100." I asked, "Okay, how much will it cost then?" Finally, he quoted nearly $300. I asked if I could make a quick phone call, and he said, "What are you going to phone a friend?" Excuse me? I explained I needed to talk to my husband because we have a budget. After my husband and I spoke, we decided the cost was too high for something that might fall under our landlord's responsibility. I told Paul we'd contact our landlord to handle it. He said, "So call him right now." I explained we hadn't notified the landlord of the leak yet, that we just discovered it and he'd want to inspect it himself first. Paul seemed visibly annoyed, took his iPad, headed to the door, didn't look at me and said have a nice day and left. I was honestly flabbergasted. This was my first time calling a plumber over something like this, and it felt like every "mechanic-as-a-woman" warning come to life -- being treated like I didn't know what I was talking about and ready to be taken advantage of financially. The irony is, I've had better experiences with actual mechanics, even the ones who might've been trying to upsell me were at least friendly. At first, I wasn't going to leave a review. Things happen; people have bad days. I didn't lose anything but time. But here I am -- why? Because I ended up fixing the leak myself after watching a couple of YouTube videos and buying a $15 tool. The plumber wanted to charge me $270 to replace an entire faucet system for no reason other than to take my money and act like I was wasting his time. And just to be clear, this was only supposed to be a quote. The phone rep even said that no work would be done unless we agreed on a price first. Unfortunately, what I got instead was a wasted day, a rude plumber, and a bad taste in my mouth. To wrap it up: Earl's might have a great call center, but my experience with their field service -- specifically Paul E. -- was frustrating, dismissive, and overpriced. If this is how they handle quotes, I can't imagine trusting them for a full repair.

Randy came out a few weeks ago to replace our kitchen sink with a new one we had purchased. His…read morewife had taken care of the scheduling on the phone, and Kellie (my wife) told me she was friendly from their interactions. Randy seemed nice too, when he came over for the pre-inspection, and the quote was very reasonable. Randy arrived on time the scheduled day and proceeded to remove everything: sink, garbage disposal, & plumbing (which would have to be redone). After that, he said we had a problem. The stainless steel sink we bought had mounting rails that prevented it from fitting in the counter. I had never installed a kitchen sink, so I had no foreknowledge to check for rails. I asked if I could just buy a different one for him to install, and he told me that every stainless steel sink would have mounting rails (which I later found out wasn't true). He said our options were to either find a carpenter to cut the counter for us, or buy a cast iron sink (which are very heavy & expensive, but have no rails). I said "I wish we had known about the mounting rails before removing everything", and he said "There's only one way to find out"...inferring that was by removing everything. I then stated that if the sink had been checked first, then we would have known. He didn't say anything in response to that. On his way out, he said he wouldn't be able to come back the next day, even if we got the counter cut, or probably even the next several days. So he left us there with no further assistance offered, and without a kitchen sink, or the ability to use our dishwasher, or get water from the fridge...all that without one word of apology for it. I made a couple calls for a carpenter to no avail. Then I set things up to cut the counter myself, but it ended up not being feasible, due to counter dimensions being too short (wouldn't have left enough to support sink on front & back sides). So we had to scramble to order another sink (a cast iron one) & faucet, and then find another plumber who could come out ASAP to install it. Kellie called and talked to Randy's wife the next morning to tell her what happened, and that we wouldn't be using Randy to finish the job b/c of it. Kellie relayed to me that she listened well enough, but then seemed to excuse Randy's poor service by saying "he's sometimes absent-minded" (still no apology). In the end, we got a nicer sink installed by a different plumber (both of which cost more), but everything turned out great in the end. Unfortunately we had to deal with not having a kitchen sink or dishwasher for 2-3 days, which was both inconvenient & stressful (we are a family of 4 with teenagers, and I am disabled). In summary, Randy & his wife were nice and the price quote was great, but his job knowledge, professionalism, and customer service were sorely lacking. If he had made accommodations to prioritize/help us after his oversight, or at least apologized for leaving us high & dry, I would have left a higher rating.
