My water pipe in the yard sprang a leak and they came out to see what they could do on a Saturday to at least get water for me to use over the weekend until they could come back the following week. Absolutely Disappointed I had a technician from the Powell, Tennessee location visit my home in Oliver Springs, and the experience was a disaster. The technician couldn't locate my cleanout line and claimed he couldn't access the main line through the downstairs toilet because the doorway was too small for his equipment. He insisted I still pay the $900 quote and decided to use a water snake system instead. After attempting to clear the line from the city sewer to my house, he failed to resolve the clog and added another $300 to the bill. He then told me to contact the city to run a camera. The city confirmed the issue--a major clog right at the junction of my line and theirs. Frustrated, I contacted a local technician recommended by a neighbor. He arrived with a 35-year-old snake machine, found my cleanout in 10 minutes, and cleared the clog within 90 minutes for just $160. He even returned to ensure everything was running smoothly. Now, I'm stuck disputing a $2,300 bill because this company charged me twice. They acknowledge the duplicate charge but are making me fight it through my credit card company. My credit score has dropped due to this issue, and I'm getting the runaround. Rick Hunt, the manager (or owner), has not returned my calls despite the front office confirming the fraudulent charge. If I could pick NO stars I would. I called for a client who had a drain back up. The First Lady kept interrupting me and when I asked to put her on a brief hold, she hung up. The second lady took my info, then said she would send my info to a tech and rudely hung up. I tried to call back, only for the phone to be picked up and hung up again. Customer service is definitely an issue with this company, and I've advised my clients to not use them. There are more plumbing companies out there with drain machines than roto rooter. I'll definitely send my business to a local plumber moving forward. This is sad when you manage several properties and can't trust a company with a big name. Such a shame! read more

I would give zero stars,if I could! My elder mother-in-law, had a pipe break in her slab fountation, so needed a concrete cutter, and plumber... we picked what we hoped would be a good service, but we were incorrect, very! They over, over, over, charged mom, and did a half--s job. It really is shameful when local business, take advantage of insurance co., but most important gouge the elderly, and naive! Unfortunately it happens in this area a lot!!! Mom was open to the man, sharing stories, and offering refreshments, and her being on a fixed income! Once the work was done it took her a continuous phone tag week or more, to get a paper break down billing...And the materials used, and labor were inflated, and incorrect. We took photos, and my hubby had to step in, and help!!! Unbelievable poor service from office to service tech. Ran over moms rock garden damaging rocks, taking dirt with him down the street...smoked, and put out butts in drive way. Never on time...disorganized, and again did a half --sed job! read more

Worst service experience ever - they are only looking charge as much as possible - they could not fix a soft blockage without replacing the pipe at a cost of $7000 - they broke pipes, left sewage on my floor and walls and damaged my stairs. When they left they not only left a mess but they left a sewage pipe open. The tech was not a licensed plumber, did not have the correct tools and his rotor tool had a broken head. If they find ways to charge you money they will. Use a licensed reputable plumber - Do not trust this organization, they took advantage of my situation. read more

I called asking if someone could help clear a clog in the French drain in our backyard. We live 3.2 miles from the Clinton location and had used Rotor before w/out issues so I scheduled an appointment. The tech was helpful and courteous, here 30-45min at most. Charged us $306.71. With an extra charge if paying by credit card. I was speechless. No offer of a coupon, (even though I later found one on the website) nor a returning customer discount, nothing. I will not be using this company again. Bottom line...don't trust you past experiences, ask questions up front. I was not told any of this when I called to schedule the service call. Not a weekend or emergency and still $65 to $125 trip fee supposedly waived if they do the work. So disappointing for a company to treat customers this way. read more

Just had Technician Chris and Technician Trainee Joe come out and clear the roots from my drain line. Chris is very professional. He is very knowledgeable. And Joe paid attention and worked hard and wasn't afraid to get dirty. The price overall was a little high but it's worth it because they provided a 90 day warranty. 10/10 would recommend read more

We have had issues several times with our washing machine drain backing up into to kitchen sink. It is a result of a poor design and way too expensive to have it taken out and replaced because of the design. When i called they had someone here within an hour. yes it was expensive but with inflation not much more than what i have paid them and various companies through the years. The drain technician that apparently was sent from the Powell, Tennessee location was terrible. I called at 5:45 pm on a Tuesday night to see if they could unclog a drain at our house. I was told there would be an after hours charge of I believe $165 and the fee to unclog a drain is $400. I assumed that they made a mistake because they price seemed outrageous but no, that is what they charge. We weren't able to run any water without it backing up in the house so I agreed to the price providing they could be here quickly. Couldn't ask for better service. Called between 2:30 and 3:00. Just asked for an afternoon meeting. They called me at about 5:15 same day. Met them at 6:00, they were gone by 6:30. The response to my call was quick, and the plumbers were at my house on the day I requested, about 1/2 hr. after I was told they'd be there. That's pretty good for plumbers, electricians, etc. The work was done quickly and properly. They were in and out of the house in 30 min. The price was outrageous! $274 to replace two short metal-braided supply lines to the kitchen tap. This job took all of 15 mins. Also, when I called for service, the (not-local) call-answerer asked me how I would be paying. I told him that I would use a credit card. What he didn't tell me was that there would be a 3% charge for credit card use, which I found out from the plumber after he did the work. I will be looking for a different plumber the next time I need one. read more

We had a 25 year old self installed downspout drain system that had become completely stopped up. I called the Knoxville listed Roto-Rooter service phone and was scheduled for same day drive by to look at the problem.. After working for two hours with their hydro pipe flusher, we came to the conclusion that some excavation was needed to inspect a Y connection. Unearthing it revealed that it would have to be replaced. Next day they brought the needed equipment and put in a new Y and run down the yard. I found the two workers to be focused on a solution and demonstrated skill with the job. read more

Roto Rooter in Powell, TN sent a serviceman named Rick (invoice #99713) out to unstop a very, very, very badly stopped up kitchen drain. The house is over 40 years old and the last time we had to have this done was about 20 years ago so it NEEDED it! I ran a distribution business for 30 years and had it been a "service" business Rick would have been a supervisor/trainer for me! Absolutely the most polite, helpful and well meaning repair person to have been in this house in 44 years! Kudos to Roto Rooter for having this man represent them! read more

Overall, I would rate this experience as poor and at this point, I cannot recommend this Roto-Rooter's services to any friends or family members because of one major reason - the completely unreasonable final bill. Recently my wife and I were moving into a new home. While hooking up our washing machine, I noticed a small leak from the washing machine connector valves in the wall. Although our movers were in the process of moving our possessions in, I knew the valves had to be repaired or replaced ASAP. I called Roto-Rooter and a service technician named Robert arrived. Robert was courteous and professional, and he took the time to explain that the valves could easily be repaired and didn't need to be replaced. He completed the repair job within 15 minutes, and then asked if he could "take a look around and inspect our plumbing". I told him that would be fine, so as he inspected the plumbing he found a leaky toilet valve and replaced that as well. He also poured some liquid from a blue bottle down our drains (which we did not ask for). Within 30 minutes, he was finished with everything and said he would bring us the final invoice. I was completely shocked to receive a bill for $383! What an outrageous price for a minor repair job on 2 small valves and replacing a $20 part on a toilet! When I confronted him about the final price being so high, his explanation was that Roto-Rooter charges "per job". Well what is a "job", anyway? There was no explanation as to what "jobs" were completed on the invoice, or how much each "job" cost. And because I was also having to direct our movers where to put furniture while Robert fixed our plumbing, I feel this was a sneaky way to perform extra "jobs" that didn't need to be done, just to rack up a $383 bill. The final bill for 1 plumber doing a small fix and installing 1 $20 part was almost half our total bill for having 3 movers for a total of 8 hours! I've used other plumbers for major repairs who did a lot more work over several hours and didn't even charge half of what Robert charged us. I called and spoke with the manager of the local Roto-Rooter office, and asked for an explanation of each "job" performed. He still could not provide a breakdown as to what "jobs" were completed and how much was charged for each "job". read more

Had a leak on the line that goes to my ice maker, call them to come out suppose to be here between 10 and 12 no show call them back and they claim they did not have me on the schedule final show up and claims he dose not have a tool so leave to go to Lowe's to buy this tool comes back dose something then claims it fix and that I need a braided steel line and that I would have to make another appointment to have this done. Once he leaves after charging me $213. 87, I check to see what was done and I can see he just crimp the line so no leak but now no water, call them to get them to fix it and was told that the guy said he knew what the problem was that the line must have a crimp in it and for another $108.00 that he could fix my problem, he was the problem. Don't use rotorooter they will scam you learned my lesson, I will never use them again and will be passing on this to everyone on social media that will listen to me, BEWARE read more

Root rooter came out and and helped with a bathroom remodel. They hooked up my toilet to hot water and refused to fix the problem.
