Gary's Septic provided good timely service, but they weren't transparent on the digging fee.  I…read moreappreciated when I called Bill on Tuesday that he was able to schedule service the next day and they arrived when they said they would.  Larry and his coworker were pleasant and professional in getting the job done.  When I called to schedule service, I asked Bill about the mileage and digging fee in addition to pumping & dumping fees.  Bill said his two guys were reasonable and the digging fee should be between $50-85.  When Gary's Septic did my last pumping several years ago, they charged a $50 hourly digging fee and the charge was for 30 minutes.  My observation when each worker dug to reach each of the two septic lids, they each took about 20 minutes, and when filling up the hole about 15-20 minutes, a total of about 40-45 minutes of overall digging.  The digging charge was $170.  I asked Larry , the worker, if the charge was for 2 hours and he said it was $85 a hole.  Therefore, to be generous, the charge was $170 for one-hour total digging, double the top range of what Bill told me over the phone.   The next day I called Bill to question what he initially told me of $50-85 for digging. His quick answer was they usually charge $100 a hole, which was obviously different than the quoted.  He didn't mention anything about a per-hour charge when I called to schedule the service.   When I reminded him of what he told me about digging costs when scheduling, and how that compared to what they charged on their last visit, he interrupted me saying, "What are you bitching about?"   I paused, and then said the digging costs were double what he told me would be a reasonable $50-$85.   He didn't apologize for what he said or that maybe the digging costs were miscommunicated.  Rather, he talked about the high cost of diesel fuel, what he paid each of his two guys per hour, and that I should just dig it out myself next time to avoid those charges.   I realized I wasn't talking with someone that wanted to work with me to explain why the difference of what I was told prior and what I was charged, or in keeping me as a customer.

Five Stars Are Not Enough!…read more Dan and his team are beyond great. Sometimes it's the little things that make all the difference. I used American Air after they were referred to me be an HVAC guy who couldn't get to my job in a reasonable amount of time. I was a little suspicious that American Air was available when others weren't, but it turns out that Dan, after years of working for someone else in town, had just gone out on his own and started his own business. Last summer I bought 2 houses and tore them down to the studs and rebuilt them at the same time. Between the 2 houses I had at least 11 contractors and subs on the job. Dan and his guys were like a breath of fresh air. He came when he said he would, he rolled with the changing timeline of the project, he took over when the guy a the gas company was confusing me about what he thought I needed, he had everything he needed when he arrived, and he finished on time and on budget. But that's the basic stuff. Frankly, that's what I expect from any contractor. Where American Air really shines is the other stuff. When I told Dan what I wanted he RESPECTFULLY talked to me about my choice and explained the limitations of the system. I can't tell you how tired you become of men telling you what you want instead of listening to you! His guys were great. They were friendly, professional, and they cleaned up after themselves and took great care not to damage the new wood floors. Most importantly Dan called me 6 months after the install to see how the unit preformed. I bought a unit that doesn't preform well below 5 degrees, and this winter we spent considerable time in that range. When I told him that it had preformed exactly as expected. I had just gone out and bought a space heater to supplement. He told me he had been worried about me and had already contacted the manufacturer and talked them into upgrading the mother board in the unit for free. UNBELIEVABLE !!!! I recently referred American Air to some friends. They had already heard of him but were hesitant because he hadn't been in business for as long as some of the other companies. If you have any hesitation, don't. This is a solid business that's not going anywhere. And you couldn't ask for a nicer or more professional group of guys.

Much different experience from 5 years ago. Technicians were unable to answer basic questions. Only sprayed foam on coil and rinsed. For $350 any one can spray foam on the coils. Sorry but will not be using this company ever again. Also was told it would take 3-4 hours to solder a piece together. Also the tech was over an hour late outside the time I was told they would arrive. Update: service manager reached out, heard my concerns and will address them. Hopefully they will communicate better in the future. Also explained the process much better than the tech for the repair that was needed. Still will be using a different company moving forward.

Late last night we realized that we had no water pressure at all. After checking the breakers we…read morerealized the problem was most likely with the pump. We called Dakotas and he offered to come out late last night but we declined as we felt it was something that could wait until today. He came out this morning and diagnosed a faulty pressure switch. This came as a big relief as we thought we may need a new pump which would have been a lot more expensive. He was very helpful and answered all my husbands questions. I would highly recommend Dakotas because they are fast, knowledgable and reasonably priced.

After discussing the pros and cons of the repair cost($258.25) vrs. the cost of buying a new stove($750) we decided on the repair. Hopefully our 11 year old oven will stay the course long enough to justify the repair cost. I would recommend Tompkins for any appliance repairs.
