In fact, my 240k-mile Subaru has been run almost exclusively on Costco gas thanks to the proximity of my work to a Costco Gas Station. Their gas is rated Top Tier™, and that isn't a meaningless proclamation, as TT means a higher quality of gas. They intentionally run it at 20-30¢/gal cheaper than the market average because they use it as a loss leader. * One of the few Costco gas locations that carries diesel. * 5% cash back on the Costco Citi card is kind of hot, especially considering our gas prices as of late. The Meh: * No amenities here like paper towels and window washing equipment. Hell, you're lucky they even have garbage cans! * Members Only. But I mean honestly, does anyone in The Bay *not* have a Costco membership??? The Ugly: * The Santa Cruz station is priced 50¢/gal higher than San José gas stations. I guess that's the schlepping the petrol down the hill tax. Conclusion: Inexpensive, high-quality gas. Not much more one can ask for.

Price - Reasonable, inexpensive. But I always end up buying stuff I do NOT need..... So for me it was a little wasteful. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 1994. Congrats on all your success since 1976, since Price Club. This particular Valero's has a convenience store, and unhappy people that work there. We stopped to get gas, and walked inside to pay and grab a quick drink. The cashier was extremely unpleasant, and it was very clear not only was unhappy to be there, but he was clearly inconvenienced by us making a purchase. After we paid, we went out to pump the gas and the pump was not even ready for us to use. We had to walk back inside, and ask for him to turn the pump on. Literally standing there waiting for what felt like eternity, but was probably about two minutes or so until he decided to turn the pump on. No one else was there, so it should not of been an issue. The station itself is pretty basic, and snacks were at a minimum. The station was also fairly clean, as far as gas stations go. My issue at the station, was the attitude that the attendant had, and why it seems to go unnoticed. Clearly, he has worked there for a while and it doesn't seem to be an issue for management. As expensive as gasoline is, I certainly plan on going somewhere else, rather than spending my money in a place where it doesn't seem to be welcomed

i live near the chevron mission st santa cruz. i have chevron card love chevron gas…read more crap "service" station!!! this station is owned managed by out of town owners who obviously don't care how often their crappy equipment breaks, or if the pumps read actual chevron cards. they say safeway credit $$ are honored. but you put in the information it says you can use the safeway discount but the price does not reduce. pump would not read actual chevron card. so i went inside and 3 times it said safeway discount applied. back to the pump and no discount. clerk said i had to pay cash not chevron card to get discount but big sign 3" letters says chevron discount cash/ chevron card. i've put up with similar problems at this particular chevron station for years. no more, screw the absentee owners and their faulty equipment. i will drive 10 miles to avoid this station. they are horrible in every way. goodbye crappy chevron on mission.

Theres a few of them who talk shit about customers in spanish and laugh, and the store always smells like weed or cigarettes. Also, the majority of products are damaged or opened, cans with dents, chips with tears, etc. Would not recommend.

Ocean Street also has quite a few restaurants and fast-food places, so if you can turn your quick stop for gas into a full refueling stop if you so choose. My pump was a bit slow, but it wasn't terrible. The man working here when I came was efficient, but he didn't say much.

There are no paper towels and window washing tubs are nearly empty and always dirty. The garbage containers are all overflowing. I have seen employees smoking out front of the mini mart. I have reported these issues to management but nothing seems to change. They say it's because of the homeless in the area although neighboring businesses don't seem to have the same level of deterioration. I refuse to use this gas station in future -- even if I can't access my Safeway Loyalty points. Not worth it!!
