Shout out to the boys at Round & Wound. After years of procrastination, I had finally decided to have my old band's 16-Track, 1 inch tape-demo transferred to Pro Tools. They did all the necessary wizardry to ensure that the tape transferred properly. The final result was a perfect transfer, super hi-fi after all these years... recorded in 1987 !!! I was noticing that some of my audio tapes from the 80's were coming apart, so it was time to save irreplaceable ones. I brought in 3 cassettes from my bands from the era, and Round and Wound did a great job of digitizing them. The new versions sound as good as the originals, and the songs are separated and labeled correctly, which is quite good considering the handwritten notes that I had. Several years ago I was given some 1/4" tapes, demos that my dad recorded back in the late 60s, that I was unable to play because I didn't have the equipment. I was also anxious to about damaging them if played because of their age and casual way they had been stored. The 25th anniversary of my father's passing is next month and the desire to hear what was on the tapes intensified. I saw the ad for Round And Wound in Tape Op magazine, a resource I trust, and reached out to get information. Darren replied a few hours later and explained the process. He made everything very straight forward. I shipped the tapes the next day and a few weeks later, tonight, I received the digital files. The audio is all there and even though it is a 50 year old amateur demo it was profoundly moving to listen to these songs. I'm happy that I contacted these guys and so excited to continue playing the music. I also sent a couple of DA-88 tapes from a 16 track recording session in the mid 90s. These were recorded professionally and my hopes were high. The plan is to re-release the CD with additional tracks that had been left in the can at the time. Round and Wound definitely exceeded my expectations as the tracks sound terrific. Nothing lost sonically, everything is tight and clean. It's great when you find a company that values their clients and take extreme pride in their work. Professional and genuinely nice people. I can't recommend Round And Wound enough. I had various old tapes from my band day's and wanted to transfer to digital format, I found Round and Wound and very glad I contacted them! I spoke to Darren and He was very very helpful in setting up a time for us to drop off the tapes! When We got to Round and Wound, Darren and Brian Were so Gracious and Showed My Girls how they do the tape transfer from various well known artists, and other aspects of transferring tape to digital format, it was a great experience for us !! I happened to recently find an old cassette tape dating back to 1991-92 that had a handful of songs that an old band of mine were in the process, (but never finished) recording. My wife and are soon to have our 30th wedding anniversary. We had old VHS tapes from our wedding and raising our kids. We are making a movie of our 30 years together and wanted this footage in our movie. The tapes were old with some tapes broken and reels not working right.
