Normally, this place isn't packed, but we waited about 15-20 minutes for a table, which felt a bit long for such an early time. Once seated, service wasn't too bad--we waited about 10 minutes to place our order and another 10 minutes for our food. Very good restaurant! Service was excellent and our server gave great recommendations on favorites to order. I had the meatloaf and gravy with mash potatoes and it was excellent. My husband had the fried shrimp dinner and it was good as well. My daughter had the kids Mac and cheese and she gave it a 3 out of 5 stars! Kids get a free ice cream dessert with their dinner! Pretty quiet ambiance on a Saturday evening but we arrived pretty late around 7:45 and they close at 9 pm. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. read more

I personally am a sucker for round the clock and I am so happy I live in a town with one. I only get one thing and one thing only and it's the southern chicken biscuits and gravy platter with two sunny side up eggs and hash browns. It's my favorite item on their menu. The quality and quantity of it is just so high up there on the scale for me that I don't wanna choose anything else. Service is always at and I never have any problems when I go! It's a nice spot to just enjoy your breakfast, lunch and dinner. Side note they only do biscuits and waffle menu items until 2pm so you gotta get there before if you want the southern chicken and biscuits. You might be able to ask if they can make an exception because it's sooooo good. read more

Oh my goodness... I was so excited when my husband told me he picked up some lemon rice soup for me after a long day working. Round the clock used to have great lemon rice soup but NOT ANYMORE! This was the absolute worst lemon rice soup I have ever had. It was thick as a brick, and ZERO flavor. I tried to THIN it out and add some flavor by adding my own lemon juice but no dice. Come on! And the rolls? Hard as a rock. I don't know what's up with this but a Greek restaurant that doesn't do lemon rice soup that is at least decent? Never again. Avoid it at all costs. read more

We arrived there and when told them about the cheesecake they immediately brought it out ruining the surprise and they didn't even have icing. The lady who was tending us wasn't very helpful as this is a very easy solution knowing since I have worked at a restaurant before, that's just being lazy and not using resources, you can't lie to a customer on the phone for no reason, for extra money, get your staff on the same page. We were in the area for a funeral a few days ago. I've eaten at their Schererville and Highland locations for many years. Their food was always above average and reasonably priced. So we decided to give the Chesterton location a try. Big mistake. Please do not put a dish on the menu called beef bourguignon if that's not what you're serving. I've had and made beef bourguignon several times in my life and this was definitely not it.What I was served was a beef stew with a gelatinous gravy and over cooked vegetables. My daughter had the chicken parm which was a gigantic hunk of chicken smothered in brown mozzarella cheese. My wife's salad had the greenest hard bolied eggs we've ever eaten. Her lemon rice soup, always a favorite, was as thick as wall paper paste.Glorified hospital food. A big plus for the rolls and our waitress was very sweet and helpful. Never again. read more

One of the sides I chose was the side salad shown in the photo. The greens were not fresh at all, and some of them were wilting, and even discolored. I've been here twice and I am a fan! First time, I got the grilled salmon (two years or so ago) but I'm here to tell you about the stuffed flounder. Marked as a "Special of the Day," or course I had to give it a try. Plus it's nice that it came with two sides! Simplest way to describe the dish: soul feeding salty-ness with a touch of fishy-ness flavor. The seafood that was stuffed inside the flounder wasn't overpowering which was a nice touch because I thought it was important to also be able to taste the lightly breaded flounder which was good. Went for a side of fries and a cup of cream of broccoli soup. Fries are battered (not sure in what) but they make them 10x more delicious. Cream of broccoli was the perfect blend of creamy and salty. Huge menu selection means that no matter what your taste palette is, you'll most likely find something to fit your needs. read more

DISAPPOINTED........For the LAST TIME!!! What is going on at the Chesterton 'Round the Clock? For the last 4 months something is wrong here, and getting worse. My wife and I went inside a few months back and literally sat for more than 10 minutes without a server even acknowledging us. As we were walking out was the first our server said anything to us. She had been having a conversation with another table since we sat down, for at least the time we waited for someone to even take our drink order. I told her we were hungry and would go where we could get service. Since this incident we decided we would pickup our food and eat at home in the future, my wife likes the salmon they do there. We have done this about 3 times prior to this last time, usually at least one item was incorrect, missing or poor quality. I placed a pickup order here yesterday, July 14, 2023. A simple order of one salmon dinner and one fried chicken dinner. The salmon was fine, the chicken was bland, dry and overcooked, no lie, I tore a piece off the breast and tapped it on my plate. That made my wife understand why I was complaining. The topper I think was that the fries that was supposed to be with it were non-existent. The best part of my meal was the soup and dinner roll. DONE, DONE AND DONE. There are too many other places to eat around here so I will go to them instead from now on. read more

I have no idea where all the good reviews are coming from. Maybe it's from the lack of options in the area and the locals think this is a great place. I don't know exactly, but the food was so basic and bland I couldn't believe it. The service was as good as you can expect considering the employment issue across the nation. The prices are great which was only saving grace of this place other than that they need to learn how to use some seasoning in their food. I understand that not everybody likes a lot of spices and seasoning but even basic salt and pepper is more than what these people use . The one thing I do recommend that was the only saving grace was there burger, it was actually very good. Everything else our table ordered was a 1 out of a scale of 5. If you're a Greek owned restaurant, the least you can do is make a proper chicken lemon rice soup that is your special. There's no way the soup was homemade it had to be out of a bag premade somewhere and just heated up with some chicken thrown in. I've never had this soup so flavorless without any hint of a lemon taste to it whatsoever. I won't even call it soup that is insulting, it was more of a thick yellow gravy. read more

Took a while for the waitress to come to us for life we started with water and a soda. When I informed them that my sister would not be dangerous me. I asked if I could get the lake perch à la carte. I did not want the sides. The waitress said no without even asking. Then she had an attitude for the rest of the time. The lake perch here was good. Not super crispy like I was searching for back gate. Came with three large pieces. I like the small crispy ones. I would give the perch a three star. I thought the tartar sauce was terrible. Located just a couple minutes north of the Route 49 toll road interchange, this pleasant family restaurant is convenient to Illinoisans returning home from NW Indiana. The huge menu spotlights roadside diner classics and comfort foods. Entree prices include a choice of two items from a long list of side dishes (pasta entrees include one item). We ordered chopped steak, country-fried chicken breast, and "Thanksgiving Dinner." Ordered medium, the chopped steak arrived closer to well done. The chicken received an enthusiastic thumbs-up and the dryish white-meat turkey was made OK by gravy (request gravy served on the side). The side dishes were very good. Our bellies were stuffed before we could finish the gigantic portions (senior and children's portions are available). Take home half of your meal so you'll have room to enjoy one of their desserts. For cutting-edge or trendy cuisine, look elsewhere, but our meal here was enjoyable and an excellent value. We were looking for a local place to eat breakfast and stopped in at the Chesterton location of this restaurant. We arrived at the height of the breakfast rush but only waited about 10 minutes. After we were seated, we waited another ten minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. We ordered our drinks and went ahead and ordered our food. Our drinks were promptly delivered as was our food (although we did not receive one of our side items) then we never saw our server again until we were finished eating. We had been finished for quite awhile before she returned with our check. We were never offered refills on coffee, extra napkins, etc. She did bring me a to-go cup of tea but again we had to wait awhile. Although the service was terrible, the food was above average and very reasonably priced. The decor was pleasing and the seating was comfortable; I just wish we would have been able to enjoy our meal a bit more. read more
