This was our first visit to Craft House and we were pleasantly surprised. Even tho it is advertised as a pub, there is a quieter adjacent seating area away from the bar. Our server was upbeat and courteous and we had minimal wait time for our dinner service. I had pan-seared walleye that was perfectly done. Crisp on the outside, moist & tender on the inside. Seasoned just right. It came with tasty sides of baby bakers and garlic green beans. Hubby had the fried perch with swirly fries. He said both were excellent...best he's ever had! We were seated in the bar section. They didn't even ask for my ID... how rude. Bahahahahaha! But this was a mistake because their bar wasn't quite open yet so our service was shotty. It was poorly lit and very dark. Also, the table was sticky. That could very well have been the cleaner they're using during this whole Covid thing but it definitely didn't scream CLEAN. Other than that the food was better than decent. We got the Skinny Dippers for an appetizer. My husband got the Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich and I got the Perch Sandwich. I asked for the fried rice instead of the fries and that was super salty, although my husband did enjoy it so it wasn't a total loss. All the food is reasonably priced and although our service was super slow she was sweet. Would I go back? Not by my suggestion. But if someone else REALLY wanted to then perhaps. #shrug read more

I have only one visit on which this review is based. I found the bar area to be acoustically loud. Even people having normal level conversations seemed to bounce off the ceiling. I ordered the Big Bowl salad which claimed to have crumbled bacon. However my salad came with the candied bacon instead. Even though I picked it all off, the salad was residually sweet and unpleasant. Why didn't I send it back? Because I had already sent it back once because it arrived with cheese when I ordered it without... And I was hungry. read more

My sister and I were ending a long day of sandy hiking trails and needed a last meal to fill our bellies before heading back to the hotel for a good night's sleep. This was on a short list of restaurants in the area that we were interested in trying and hadn't yet gotten to. The people here were absolutely lovely and service was good. We really wanted to make it to dessert, so we split a single meal... And behold! We had room for dessert! We shared the Ham and Cheese sandwich on a pretzel bun with parmesan truffle fries on the side. The sandwich was great. I would personally skip the truffle fries next time and just go with regular fries, because I don't think the cheese or truffle really added to it. We told them we'd be splitting the meal, and they brought an extra plate out with the meal without our asking. We had the Cookies and Ice Cream for dessert. The cookie was recently out of the oven and very yummy - it softened and melted the ice cream on top very nicely. read more

I ordered the aged ribeye, and I'm really glad I did. It was prepared just perfectly. I also like the fact that they have a pretty extensive selection of craft beers (Craft House, yeah, I know, craft...) and they even hav esome pretty awesome desserts. Craft house is a must try if you're in the Valpo area. I had a craving for pickle chips and this place catered to my needs! This is a great place for those who enjoy trying out different beers. The menu has limited options for specialty dinners, but a good handful of options for burger/sandwiches lovers. Meals come with a small generous side, so don't expect too much. My husband ordered the prime rib stake and it was very tender, but for the sides he got only four asparagus and few small potatoes the size of your thumbs. I got the shrimp and crab, it was tasty! Our experience is usually pleasant, but this particular evening, it took a while to get our drinks and our appetizer arrived minutes before our meal. We come to this area about once a year. We have ate here in the past and it was ok, but thought we would try it again. Glad we did. Melanie and I attended a wedding in Chesterton and Craft House was close to the activity area and our hotel... what a gem! We ate here twice. The first time we had the Prime Rib, medium rare. It was to die for. The meat was flavorful and melted in your mouth, cooked and seasoned perfectly. It came with grilled asparagus covered in garlic, yummy! Second time was house salads and various appetizers... OMG, so good, so yummy! The salad was encased in a shaved cucumber bowl, so creative. Chesterton has a gem here. Wanted to check this place out from hearing some of the reviews around town, and a friend. You can't bet a burger and beer for 10.00! Had a burger craving so me and hubby decided to give it a try. Our burgers were cooked just how we liked, however I don't feel like it was best burger I had and it could have had a little more favor for my liking. The fries were good and cooked just right. There are some items on the menu that I would like to come back and try, I would even do the burger again! Came here today with 3 friends for an early dinner...I had called ahead to get an outside table and that worked out fine...We ordered Crab dip,pretzels, fried pickles, and fried brussels sprouts...our waitress was very good...For dinner we had Ham and cheese on a pretzel bun, Craft house Burger with grilled onions and blue cheese, chicken Ciabatta sandwich, and a Catch of the Day Shrimp Po Boy....Everything was awesome...The one problem we ran into was the bread was molded on the Po Boy ..they replaced it quickly and didn't charge us...They put the Cubs on outside so we were all happy... Oh my - we had an amazing server who pointed us in the right direction. I had some chicken sandwich with avocado on it that taught me to love avocado. Now I want it on everything. I cannot believe how tasty those French fries are - my mouth is watering as I type. My Long Island was so-so, but I mentioned it to the server and HOLY COW did she remedy that.
