Sorry folks...it's a one star... One customer at dinner on a Monday. Out of many items/ specials"we haven't bought any" Very dirty, magazines, newspapers piled hi on the counter, empty coolers filled with chock-keys...as earlier mentioned we were wishing for antibiotics.. On my wife's steak...the waitress asked" how is it, chewy?" Instant mashed, Heinz gravy, canned corn & beans. The meatloaf was ok??... Kitchen looked equally dirty/disarray.. The cook did come out as we paid to ask if everything was ok... She seemed sincere and said the steak was 8oz when she started. I don't know where the 4-5 stars came from...new owners/ managers?? $25 with tip...

If you so happen to venture out to the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE on route 22 towards Connecticut, and you pass by a cow farm on your right hand side, please look directly to your left and there is...ROUND TUIT. I was drawn to this restaurant by a hand written sign outside that advertised "Blueberry Pancakes Served All Day". I was craving just that. You walk in and there are 3 people aside from the man working behind the counter. Those three people are old, wrinkly, and probably have never stepped foot outside Millerton, NY let alone the US of A . The miscellaneous homosapien is the man's wife cooking in the back. I was afraid my friend and I would be unwelcome or stared at for being two asian outsiders, but the man was quite receptive. He had this amused smirk on his face the whole time like, "lookat these girls...comin on in here lookin for sumthin da eat..." My stack of blueberry pancakes was FILLED with fresh juicy blueberries and came with thick slices of ham on the side. My strawberry milkshake was made with fresh milk (remember that cow farm?) and was the best shake i've ever had. The chili burger was freakin dripping and delicious. The home style potatoes were hunky and seasoned. A vanilla shake for my friend as well...all of this for $19. Oh, dear heavens, take me now! So what made this authentically-small-town-american-meal so damn good? Answer: Whilst pigging out, three gentlemen wearing Wrangler jeans, denim jackets, plaid shirts, and JOHN DEERE hats came stomping in from work and sat down at the counter for coffee (which they didn't pay for...). The conversation of the night was about UFOs and the town hall meeting that week. I guess clandestine cameras were shooting a remake of "Footloose"??

Scrambled eggs and cheese, white toast, home fries

One of the best diner breakfasts I've ever had. Great ham and cheese omelette, and fantastic home fries. Good coffee, fast and friendly service. Everything is very cheap - breakfast platters run around $8 or $9. Outdoor seating area has a gorgeous view. We will go out of our way to return!

We continued inside and found the bar area. We saw that there was a group at a table. So, we continued inside and sat down. The staff is very nice, but very slow. The menu is very interesting. We ordered the spicy sausage with fig appetizer (This was the star of the show! we got another order!) 2 orders of butternut squash soup and grilled octopus for apps to share. We also requested more bread and were served fresh baked rolls that were so good! We ordered the pistachio crusted pork chop and shrimp risotto for entrees. The 2 people that ordered butternut squash soup were a split decision on it. One loved it the other hated it. I tried it. I thought it tasted really good but i don't think i could eat a whole bowl of it. It was too sweet. The Octopus was excellent! The Spicy sausage with fig was amazing. This is a definite thing to order. The pistachio crusted pork chop was very good. I didn't love the risotto. If i'm ever in the area and have a lot of time to sit and eat, I would definitely come back.

The rooms are each unique and comfortable and the toiletries fantastic! The restaurant is not to be missed either--food is excellent, portions good especially for the price, and the service friendly and accomodating. It's cozy without being too dated or chintzy, a tricky balance for many inns. Every room has a fridge, which may not show up in the room descriptions online. Above all, it's the rare hotel where you really feel like the stay was a great value for your money. My only suggestions would be brighter lighting in the rooms, more varied coffees with breakfast (hard to suggest when Irving Farm is steps away, though!), and maybe extra blankets in each room during the colder months. Above all, it's a great place for people of all ages and needs to stay and enjoy the region!

In life, things change. People come and go. Times are different. Outlooks and perspectives are seen from new and unanticipated angles. But feelings always remain. I took my son to dinner last night prior to his departure back to college. The smiles, the warmth, the connection, the feeling of "home" exceeded my expectations after being nervous about being away so long. Were there new faces? Yes. Did I miss some of my friends who are either no longer there, off that night, or attending to other family business? Deeply. The menu is still the standard in the area for a nicer lunch or night out. You can go as accessible as a burger, enjoy a well constructed special, or enjoy really good sushi in Northwestern CT. Everything you may be looking for to meet even the most persnickety pallet or dietary need. Come in jeans. Come in a suit. All the same once inside. Do recipes change? Yes. Does my mind have a tendency to long for the old? Sure does. But The Boathouse, and the people who make it special will always keep me coming back - It feels like "home".

The calamari came with ranch, and tasted rubbery and the baby back ribs were ok, a little dry. The lighting was poor and i saw many couples using flashlights to read the menu. Our server seemed nice, but he never refilled our drinks and rarely talked. Just when i thought the reaturaunt couldn't get any worse i walk into the bathroom with my 7 year old brother to find a naked woman hanging on the wall. Overall a 2/10 experience, would not go again.
