Quant restaurant. Our waitress was very nice. As for our lunch. Their yellow split pea soup wasn't exactly what i was expecting. They mistakenly gave two of our party the wrong hamburgers. One of our party said that her wrap has no Caesar dressing on her wrap. Drinks were the highlight. Possibly will give them another chance but not sure. read more

Stopped in with family (+- 12:30) after hiking some of the AT and climbing Bear Mtn. FOOD: We both ordered the Bella Burger, and it was very good, from the toppings to the roll. It came with a choice of fries, which I ordered, and or coleslaw, which is what my brother ordered. Unfortunately, my brother found a 2" triangular piece of a plastic bag in his coleslaw which put a dampener on the whole experience. They apologized and threw in our beers for free. (guess their coleslaw is not homemade?) They also had a good selection of local beers like the Naughty Nurse which was very good. SERVICE: Our server (Lo) was friendly and attentive. We had the greatest waitress! It was a busy Saturday night and we were desperate to escape the inn's food, so even conceded to sit outside in 50s weather. I have not been here since before Covid. A friend and I were talking about food at our son's basketball game, and after looking at the menu online, we decided to grab dinner afterwards. We didn't have reservations, but were able to get a booth. The boys got burgers and the ladies got the crispy cauliflower Buddha bowl. It was SO good. I loved all of it. I have never seen a bowl like it before!! The French fries that came with the burgers were so good too! Everything was cooked perfectly. I really don't like leaving reviews like this. I'm not someone who complains or sends food back, and I don't enjoy making a fuss. But I also think it's important to be honest. This was, genuinely, some of the worst food I've ever had at a restaurant. I don't say that lightly or to be harsh--it's just the truth of my experience. I ordered a $30 salmon, and the portion was extremely small--definitely under a quarter pound. Beyond that, it just didn't taste good. It was honestly one of the most unappealing pieces of fish I've tasted. The plate came with four pieces of asparagus (literally four... also happened to be the tastiest thing on the plate!) and some kind of grain that I couldn't even really identify, and it didn't help the dish at all. I've actually been here before and had the wings, which were great. The service has also always been good, and that was true again this time. Mary, our waitress, was easily the best part of the experience--she could tell I wasn't enjoying the meal and handled it really well. She offered to comp it and asked if I wanted something else, which I really appreciated. I decided to try the burger, thinking it would be a safe choice, but it was another letdown. It came out as basically just a patty with cheese on soggy, oily buns, no condiments, and the toppings sitting on the side instead of actually on the burger. It felt like the cook was mad at me and just threw it in the box... The sweet potato fries were actually pretty good when they were hot, but by the time I got them to go, they were cold and not enjoyable. I'm not writing this to be mean. This place has a really nice atmosphere and genuinely good people working there. That's what makes it more frustrating--the food just doesn't match the rest of the experience. I really think the kitchen needs to step it up, because right now it's not even close to the level it should be. If I wasn't eating I'd give it 5/5. Stopped here with my wife, for an unplanned dinner. It was around 6:00, and they were quite busy. We were greeted and put on a wait list. It's not a particularly large place, and they do take reservations (which we didn't have) so we waited and were seated at one of the two high-top tables next to the bar. It was a small table, but we made it work. Our server was delightful and helpful. We started with soups - I had the French onion soup and my wife had the clam chowder (chowda) - both were delicious, although I felt mine could have been a a bit hotter. For entrees, my wife had the NY Strip steak with mashed potatoes and I had the Buddha Burger, both were excellent and cooked to our preferences. Their menu prices are listed as "cash discount" price, so there is an uncharge for credit card use. read more

What a hidden gem! My husband, 12 yr old son and I stopped by Black Rabbit Bar & Grille for an early dinner after seeing a game at Salisbury School . Wow. The food was AMAZING; not at all your typical pub-quality faire. We had the largest, crispiest, most property-cooked buffalo wings I have ever enjoyed. The split pea soup was almost gourmet with an exquisite flavor and texture. My husband's 1/2 pound cheeseburger was cooked to perfection and my son's fish & chips looked and tasted like the ones he liked in Ireland (an ongoing quest we've had.). My arugula salad was beautiful in presentation, hearty and seasoned perfectly to my taste. The portions were large enough that we all brought home a little something for later. My husband and I spent a lovely afternoon here enjoying a perfect sunny day on the patio with a lovely lunch and a few beverages. We came on a Sunday so we're able to enjoy some of their great brunch options. My husband is hiking the AT which comes very near the town and he had already put in 10 miles so keep that in mind when you see how much two people ordered . We started with the Hot Local Onion Dip, delicious and I am totally going to try to replicate! The Local Tomato Burrata Salad was also very good and had amazingly sweet and juicy melons. I had the Local Foraged Chanterelle Frittata, which was so rich and delicious! You could totally taste the Brie cheese and I was very thankful for the fresh fruit served with it to cut the richness of the lovely local eggs, Brie and mushrooms. I got the BLTC with sweet potato fries and my boyfriend got the fish and chips. Our waitress was so pleasant and all of the staff was very responsive. Initially my sandwich came without the cucumber on it, but once I mentioned it they quickly brought me out some to add. The sandwich was so amazing and the ranch sauce on it was really good. The sweet potato fries were some of the best my boyfriend and I have had ever. His fish and chips came with two huge portions of fish and a bunch of hand cut chips. The fish wasn't greasy or overly breaded and it was an amazing value. The chips were delicious and we brought most of them home to eat later on in the night. Overall the prices were really reasonable for the high quality of food you are getting. The staff was friendly and there were appropriate social distancing and safety measures in place. This place would do great anywhere....The service was awesome...Food was fresh and plenty...price was fair. After the 3 hour trip from Boston, we had to be quick to get to the game. I have been dying to go to the Black Rabbit for years, admittedly because I like the name. My anticipation was not for naught. A late afternoon lunch found the restaurant pretty quiet with only a few tables filled, so we had immediate seating and plenty of attention from our server for ordering and menus. The interior was very clean, very polished, perhaps just a little dark. The food was amazing. I could live off the Brussel sprout chips. They were crispy without being burnt, and the cheese on the top was the perfect compliment. My brie, avocado and turkey melt was nice and warm with a good balance of ingredients across the bread. In other words, there was no bite that just had bread. Finally, I love homemade potato chips, and these were very well done. Across three plates of chips, it was a rare occurrence to find one that was slightly under cooked. I am looking forward to going back! read more

These are trying times for all, especially the restaurant industry. We stopped in late on a Wednesday afternoon for a take out order. We got two orders of the short ribs and two orders of wings. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. They prepared a fresh pot of coffee for us to sip on the outside deck while we waited. We drove an hour plus home and reheated our entrees. We had the ribs. Super tasty, wonderful barbecue sauce and home made slaw. My cousin had the wings at her place and said they were delicious as well. RIP my taste buds. I did not enjoy this place at all. The ambiance was fairly decent but we were seated on a table that was just wiped down and it smelled of chemicals and that was not pleasant. The calamari we ordered was dry and unappetizing. My salmon burger had so much wasabi, my head was about to explode. The salmon was overcooked. My partner got the coconut curry salad but soon realized the absence of the coconut curry and the advertised crispy veggies that didn't have any crispy nor veggies (unless moist peppers count). If the "coconut curry" part was just meant to mean coconut oil then they could have named the dish differently. The salad in itself was average, the mango slices its saving grace. We also got mixed greens instead of kale since they had run out. It was overall a sad meal. The servers and ambience were nice overall, just wish the meal was better. read more

Awesome little place to go after hiking Lion's Head. They know how to make a damn good Monte Cristo! I'd pass on the Bloody Mary, though. Service was good, they accommodated our party with separate checks, which is always a plus.
