4th and final stop on my "Used bookstore trail in MASS" journey today. AGAIN, I had to deal with…read morethe "Mask Police", as soon as I entered Federal Street Books, the woman (behind a 4 foot high clear plexiglass shield) informed me it's a requirement to have a mask on while in the store. Fine, I complied, just wanted to find some books and get going. I did snag two paperbacks I wanted to purchase, but the same "Mask Cop" was having issues with a customer before me, with the cc machine. So I waited, and waited some more, while suffocating wearing a "face diaper". All that for two paperbacks for around $5 and change, unbelievable. The weird thing about today's "Used bookstore trail in MASS" was that the only books I purchased were at the "mask required" shops, maybe that's because the type of people who purchase the books I'm interested in don't put up with this nonsense ? Well, I put up with the nonsense, and walked away with a few Used paperback deals ! I work in the healthcare industry, and have not worn a mask for a good number of years now. Why these bookstores are requiring masks is beyond my understanding, it's a MYSTERY...I just don't do that genre !

It's just a fabulous little place. There are so many books in this place at a really good price. If you are of any kind of reader, this is a must go check. After I bought three books, I decided to try their restaurant. Service was fast and the food was fabulous. Had the udon noodle bowl. It just packed full of flavor And filled that empty spot. I'm quite sure you'll find something on the menu and enjoy.

World Eye Bookshop is an amazing bookstore located in the center of Greenfield. This store has a…read moregreat selection of books of all genres. I appreciate the fact that they not only have all the classics you would look for, but they also have a great selection of unique books, and books written by local authors. This location also has an incredible amount of children's books which will keep any child busy for hours. Towards the rear of the store they have a section for gift ideas. Their selection of tissue paper for gift bags is also great, and they are always willing to help in identifying what books may suite your fancy. The staff here is extremely polite and willing to order any book you may be looking for. This store also has a great cork board near the front door that has extensive lists of local events and activities. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey, but they have an awesome selection of discount books in the front of the store.

In a day when locally owned bookstores...or really, bookstores period...are fewer and fewer, this…read moreplace is a gem. It is clean, well lit, and well laid out. The staff are friendly, and some of them have been there for as long as I can remember shopping there. A retail establishment with staff who stay for the long haul is clearly doing something right. You won't find many sales here, outside of the clearance table full of oddballs. Honestly though, I'd rather pay full price for a decent book here than get some trashy serial romance for 20% off at Walmart.

It has a wide and eclectic selection, reasonably priced ... and that's not even counting the large $1.00 racks outside the door, from which my wife and I grabbed six books, a far higher haul than such discount racks usually provide us. We left with a full backpack, and would have bought several more if our weekly budget had allowed. The owner was courteous and helpful, and we will certainly be back.

They have old classics in fantastic condition, and the newest selections with everything in between. Boswell is the cutest cat who I had the pleasure of being followed by during my 30 minute visit. I was browsing when this beautiful black-and-white cat came strolling up to me from laying in the window. They also have Boswell souvenirs, such as gift cards and mugs. We played while I browsed, and she was so friendly at 12 years old! She was incredibly sweet and made this experience 11/10. They have an amazing selection of vintage books in amazing quality, which was my second favorite part of this store. Maria + Joe were fantastic guides, and there was no pressure to buy at all, although I couldn't resist supporting this awesome store. I will 100% return when I visit again. He inquired if there was anything specific we were looking for, there was, and then pointed us in the right direction. Unfortunately they didn't have what I was seeking but the owner recommended the other bookstores in town and we finished the visit with a nice conversation. This is exactly the type of small-town feel you expect in the movies and it's nice to see it genuinely happens in real life.
