They have numerous options for rooms, and I loved that the Market Flat had one bedroom with a king bed, another bedroom with a bunk bed, and a living room sleeper which was perfect for our group. Very friendly service- they emailed me multiple times before the trip with updates, and also readily accommodated requests (ie getting more space heaters) They have a beautiful backyard where people host weddings. Loved the river views, and the fire pits. They provide free smores kits at the front desk which is awesome! There are also blankets by the fire pits to stay warm at night. Also love the lounge room with free coffee/tea all day and the downstairs game room where they had an ample amount of board games and an old record player. Also thought it was nifty that they have tons of binoculars that you can rent out too, which came in handy for us at the Tule Elk Reserve! The Due West Market was also convenient to have- they mainly have drinks and some snacks; but I definitely appreciated the espresso drink options and a couple of fresh bakery goods from Due West We also ate at the on site restaurant Due West one night and enjoyed everything. Overall such a wonderful experience to stay here.

Kelly made up a warm welcoming chalk board for me wishing me Happy Birthday. Great room with incredible views of 2 great horses in the pasture directly across. Zollie and Rosa are beautiful and are very much cared for by the gentleman that owns many acres of land not attached to the cottage property. Zollie is the larger horse with a reddish mane and white hooves and Rosa is the darker chestnut with a black mane and tail. The room is amazing! Beautiful tiled floors with a Persian throw rug. The sleigh bed is incredibly comfortable with Egyptian Cotton sheets to die for. There is an amazing sun room attached with a back door and windows. I saw deer early in the morning on the property next door outside of the horse pasture. The front gardens of the property are well appointed with amazing sculptures, beautiful flowers that attract many hummingbirds and birds of all kinds. It is like a step back in time of wonderful powerful energy of nature and peace. A much needed therapy these days! I planned it so that I was there for the full moon in Virgo as well as my Virgo birthday! I have included that moon in my pictures here. It was gorgeous! There is a special black cat that is very friendly and since I am a major animal whisperer (everyone says it) this cat took to me instantly. The animals are not allowed in the cottages but he was polite and sat on my outside chair and slept and always visited me first thing in the morning. I encouraged it so if you are not in to cats or the one dog then just go on your way and they will leave you alone. There is a TV in the room but no cable, which is fine. There is a cute outdoor library of over 300 movies to choose from for your room. There is strong WiFi so I could watch Netflix on my computer if I wanted to. There is a mini fridge and wonderfully appointed glassware, bowls, a cutting board, and it works well for me since I went 5 minutes in to town and bought some salads, sandwiches, and great croissants at Bovine Bakery. It is expensive to eat every meal out so it is nice to be able to mix it up with both. All necessary stores, one gas station, Wells Fargo Bank, are all in town just minutes away by car. I've cycled a lot around Point Reyes and taken many one-day road trips, but I've never really…read moreexplored the area extensively due to a lack of time. That recently changed thanks to the recent overnight accommodations provided by the Black Heron Inn. Located in Point Reyes Station, about a 5-minute drive from downtown, it's the perfect place to stay when exploring Point Reyes. I had done quite a bit of research on accommodations in the area, but the options seemed to either be way too expensive or way too "patchouli" for my taste. The Black Heron Inn was the perfect fit for me and my wife. They have three guest rooms, and due to the lack of availability of the other rooms, I selected the Grand View Suite. And what a "Grand View" it was. My strong suggestion is not to plan too much during the late afternoon because you'll want to open a bottle of wine and enjoy the view from the outdoor deck or the dining room table before heading off to dinner for some oysters. The clean and well appointed rooms have a small refrigerator, a small microwave, and a toaster as well as dishes and silverware, so make sure to bring some ready to eat food with you to store in the room since food is not provided. We personally picked up some breakfast savories and sweets from Brickmaiden Breads, and our mornings were set. Coffee is provided along with a Cuisinart Coffee maker. If you don't like your coffee black or enjoy creamers, be sure to pack some milk for the fridge. The proprietors are pretty hands-off when it comes to guest interaction (which is just fine), but they are very responsive if necessary. One thing I did learn while talking to them briefly was that they have a lot of repeat customers. Based on our recent stay, I can see why!

We diligently kept the windows and doors closed during our stay, but we woke up the next morning with at least 20 bites between the two of us. The buzzing in our ears woke us up too. Suffice to say, we did not stay the additional night and left early. I highly recommend the owners take steps to eliminate this problem. I cannot recommend this place to friends and co-workers.

Historic old farmhouse with wonderful NPS interpretive history display covering a wall in the living room. Immaculate rooms and common areas. Wildlife: coveys of quail, momentary shadow of hawk chasing lizard. Dark skies. Why we won't go back: We, a married couple, occupied one of the rooms in one of the 4-unit structures. Each of these has a kitchen shared by four rooms. Two rooms share am separated bath and shower. In order of unpleasantness for us: 1. The double bed was too small; one of us kept falling off the edge while the other was squished against the wall all night. 2. Sharing the bathroom with unknown neighbors was awkward. 3. Going from building to building and into one's room required memorizing four separate keypad codes, one of which changed in the middle of our stay. Imagine having to remember all this when it's dark and you need to use the bathroom. 4. The main building has a big kitchen. Some things (like coffee and tea) are supplied. But it is difficult to figure out what is provided for guests and what is available to use. It is difficult to figure out how to cook one's meals when there are a dozen other guests with whom one must negotiate. It is slightly easier in the smaller kitchens. 5. Wi-fi was unreliable. Other than the too-small bed, the worst part of our stay was that someone took away our brown paper grocery bag after we unwittingly left it in the main building upon our arrival. There are mysterious kitchen protocols of where one is supposed to leave one's things, and I never did figure this out. You are supposed to mark your stuff, but we did not realize this until our last morning. When we could not find our food bag, we assumed we;d left it at home, so we did not mount a search until it was too late. We had squirreled away odds and ends of food for our hiking lunch, so we shrugged it off. But we had to drive to Olema for dinner. The first morning, I was very unhappy at not being able to find my coffee. I am not a morning person and hate loud commotion. I almost cried at having to make polite conversation while the neighbors were cooking strange-smelling foods. One kind soul dosed me on caffeine. If this were still a hostel and the price was $50/nite, all this might be fine. But the NPS clearly requires this concessionaire to set prices that compare to the AirB&Bs of Inverness - $200/night. So it is to Inverness that we will go next time.

I simply enjoyed a day of rest in a quaint and comfortable place and an easy walk around the neighborhood. The cottage is fitted out perfectly especially the kitchen. It's a small place, but it's not cramped. There's a deck on the north side that's a peaceful place to sit and take in the larger view of the property. It looks recently upgraded inside--a nice place for one person or a couple to get away or even for four.

I've been to about 10 B&B's and this has been the worst. The breakfast is very simple (did I mention spartan?) and we didn't feel any love from the innkeeper. This Swedish B&B has 3 guest rooms. The Dalarna room is very spacious (and spartan) for a couple and a baby. They do suggest that you bring a crib, they will charge you for a mattress if it is damaged by the baby (meaning poop, pee, etc). You have to request a TV and a cute old guy will come and put a 12 inch flat-screen in your room. It seemed like he was struggling to put the all the cords together, he was mumbling something and I didn't understand what he said about the cable channels. I don't know why they don't just leave the TVs in the rooms, it seems like a hassle for the old man. He's the only one who could do it too, the lady innkeeper will not do it! There is a small private patio outside, too bad the seats were dusty and had cobwebs. The bathroom must be for tall Swedish people because I could only see my forehead when I looked in the mirror. If you're 5 foot like me, make sure you bring a stool! The weekday breakfast was lame. There was only one other couple with us that week. On day 1, we had muffins (that was excellent, by that way), granola, berries, weird crackers, and a tiny plate of very thin slices of cucumber, tomato, and cheese. On day 2, we had scones, granola, cantaloupe, watermelon, the same weird crackers, and again thin slices of cucumber, tomato, and cheese. There were only 2 pieces of watermelon and 2 pieces of cantaloupe so we asked for more. The innkeeper said they didn't have anymore watermelon but gave us 2 small pieces of cantaloupe. Really?? Just 2??? How sad. It seemed as if the innkeeper didn't like having guests or she's just angry. We asked for ice and she said, "What for?" We asked for extra washcloths since we were there for 3 days and she said, "Oh you you didn't prepare for the baby?" I asked for another bath towel and she was obviously irritated. She knocked on the door 10 minutes before the checkout time and angrily reminded us that check out time was at 11:00. I asked if we could stay for 1/2 an hour because my baby was still sleeping and she said, "No, you're baby has to sleep in the car. I have the cleaners here, they have to clean now." Then she gave me a long lecture about check out times but I tuned out. What a cold-hearted woman!!!! The cleaners weren't even done with the other rooms, why couldn't we stay until they were ready for our room?!?! I would recommend this place because the farmhouse is lovely. If you don't mind a small, spartan breakfast then this place is great! But I'm warning you, the innkeeper doesn't want to be bothered by paying customers. Don't ask for anything and you'll be fine!

Other services were also absent - the beds weren't made, rooms not cleaned, there were notes all over the place with rules (no shoes, no cups on tablecloths, no kleenex in toilet) all of which were designed to make life easier for the inn-keeper. No rules were available for the benefit of the guest at all. The experience of a B&B where the innkeeper guides you towards activities, local treasures and insider information and a friendly warm demeanor is entirely absent from this place. Stay away.
