This is a 5 star hotel that matches with a 5 star service experience. Every employee we came in contact with - from making the reservation, to arriving, to random questions, to departure - was courteous, friendly, and seemed like they truly wanted to make our experience comfortable. The views are beautiful, complimentary happy hour and breakfast are plentiful, and additional services offered (in-room massage, drivers, etc.). We will definitely be back!

Amazing customer service! Stunning views of the ocean, sunrise & sunset. Delicious breakfast buffet. They can also deliver wine & cheese to your room as part of the complimentary wine/happy hour. Accessible tea & coffee all day long. Very close & within walking distance to multiple sites, shops & restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

Scrumptious breakfast every morning. Happy hour in the afternoon.

What to say about my new "most romantic" getaway in California? I couldn't remember the last time I was in Sausalito and truly grateful I made the decision to celebrate another California adventure at this waterfront gem. After doing much research, I decided the lodging had to be as close to the water as possible. Situated on Richardson Bay, this 33-room luxury hotel was that dream come true. From the grand deck, our king room featured stellar views of downtown San Francisco, the Bay Bridge, Angel and Alcatraz islands. A gas fireplace also looked out on the views. The bathroom incuded a spa tub and shower. All the extras - soaps, shampoo, bath salts and more. The heated bathroom floor was a big plus! Thank you to all of the staff for their amazing hospitality and welcoming us to Sausalito and Inn Above Tide.

The most beautiful place we have ever stayed, and such an amazing personalized level of service. We loved the quiet, our private balcony, morning breakfast, wine and cheese each night, the bikes that were available. We had an amazing weekend away at The Inn Above Tide. This hotel really did think of everything.

By far my favorite hotel. This place is beautiful and breathtaking! We had a beautiful view of the water from out patio area. Pictures do not do it justice. The hotel is in a great spot walking distance from all the downtown restaurants and shops. The staff were amazing they went above and beyond.

I enjoyed my stay here! Literally a jewel by the Bay! It's located in downtown Sausalito and next door to the ferry so you're literally in walking distance to restaurants and cute little shops, as well as a boat ride into the City. The customer service was good (outside the front desk guy mixing me up with someone else-2x- and greeting me by the wrong name). They offer a complimentary continental breakfast and a "happy hour-wine and cheese" service that can be sent to your room for a small service fee. The rooms were nice and clean but the view is breathtaking! If you love an awesome view, this is the place to stay. I definitely plan to return! The ambiance was awesome

I had one of the most incredible stay at The Inn Above Tide. After a long drive in from Tahoe, I was thrilled to hear they have a nightly wine and cheese reception. Brad checked me in and offered for me to enjoy wine and cheese in the sitting room off the lobby, or he could arrange to deliver it to my room (this sounded perfect and since I don't drink wine, they offered non alcohol options). I'm so delighted by this little touch and I haven't even seen my room yet. Brad hands me a key (yes, a real key, not the digital types that you have to go to the front desk to re-issue 3x over your stay) and I'm kindly escorted to my suite. Ok, the photos and videos don't do the view justice- it was way more impactful checking into my room and seeing the panoramic views of the bay at sunset. Then, to have my sparkling water and cheese delivered was the perfect touch. As I enjoyed it looking out the balcony, I immediately felt relaxed, comfortable and right at home. There were lots of restaurants within steps, but I took a bit longer walk to Caldonia street and enjoyed dinner at Osteria Divino. When I arrived back to the hotel, I wanted a tea and was pleasantly surprised to see they have a coffee and tea bar available 24 hours. After a great night sleep in the comfy beds, the breakfast of fresh fruit, pastries, quiche and more was a delight. This too I could have enjoyed in my room at no charge if I would have preferred, but I opted to enjoy in the sunny sitting room with my colleague who was also staying at the Inn. While my work was around Sausalito and San Francisco, I did have a meeting scheduled and it was hosted at the hotel's Founder's Room Suite. This is where I want to do business. The boardroom table was just off the kitchen and had AV setups for the presentation. It was an intimate setting with water views, natural light and excellent for our group of 7. I could see how it would nicely accommodate 8-10, or even a few more if there were a reception. I cannot say enough great things about the Inn Above tide and their General Manager, Mark and Assistant General Manager, Felipe. Anyone who stays is in excellent care with these two at the helm!

We came for a reset! This is by far the best place we have stayed. Absolutely stunning! And the staff went above and beyond! We already booked for September

This is our second stay here and just like the first it was outstanding! We had a gorgeous room overlooking the bay and one of the fun things that we enjoy is the afternoon wine and cheese reception that's included! Their breakfast the next morning was home cooked and delicious. We really enjoyed the quiche that we were able to choose. The service here is awesome! The parking is easy and safe and everything is within walking distance. It's our favorite place to stay when we're passing through.

Me and my husband had a wonderful stay. We booked this room for relaxation and a mini getaway for my birthday and they did not disappoint us. The service was exceptional. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. Close to the ferry to head over to San Francisco. The complimentary breakfast was nice to have a little something to eat before heading out in the morning. The option to have the wine/cheese delivered to the room was our favorite, as it gave us the opportunity to relax and enjoy the evening on our balcony looking at the ocean. I did not want to leave the room at all. Definitely gave us the relaxation and serenity we needed. We will definitely be back and recommend booking a room, especially the balcony suite!

Gorgeous hotel in the heart of Sausalito! Came here for a night and I'm so glad we came. This was the most beautiful and peaceful location. You can sleep listening to the ocean and birds. The room was exceptionally clean. Staff was very friendly and polite. We also loved the breakfast room service! For parking there is valet at your service. Everything is within walking distance to explore Sausalito. Would definitely stay here again.

The view from our suite was beautiful, but that was the only part of our stay that felt worthy of the "best room" category. Service throughout the entire town was disappointing, and the hotel was no exception. Staff consistently seemed irritated by even simple requests and frequently hung up on us when we called the front desk. There is no microwave, no room service, and our suite required climbing roughly 70 steps each time we went up or down. Valet drivers operated recklessly, and retrieving our luggage required multiple calls before we finally asked for our keys and handled it ourselves. When they brought our car around, my partner was so concerned by the way they drove it that she photographed her rims. Dining in town was equally frustrating. Servers rushed us, were not attentive, and didn't offer dessert -- we had to ask several times. We're the type of people who enjoy long, relaxed meals with multiple courses, drinks, and dessert, but everything felt hurried and dismissive. DoorDash drivers didn't want to deliver to the hotel, and when they did, the food arrived cold. Overall, the amenities were lacking, the service was rude, and the entire experience made us feel like an inconvenience. For the price of one of the top suites, we expected at least decent hospitality. This is not a place we would return to, nor did it offer the relaxing experience we were hoping for. Ally & Penny

I asked the agent if there was another room above mine and was told no. I was also told the room was very quiet. These were both lies. The room was promoted and booked as a cottage, and that implies several things, starting with an understanding that it's a small free-standing building with a modicum of privacy. That was not the case. Our "cottage" was in-fact a ground-floor unit in a fourplex, with people upstairs and artificial turf in front. We shared patio space with our neighbor. He was cleaning his feet as we arrived and immediately asked if he could borrow our outdoor furniture as he was planning to entertain family, which he later did. But the biggest problem--other than the lies at the time of the booking--was upstairs. There was a toddler who spent hours doing wind sprints up and down the uncarpeted floor, and soundproofing was minimal. So, between the garden party next door and Junior Jetrod overhead, we did not have a restful late afternoon and early evening. After 9 pm or so, things quieted down enough to eventually fall asleep. Hotel staff did its best to make things better, and I was permitted to cancel a second night without penalty. But we never should have been there in the first place. I don't think they were particularly loud however due to how the rooms are designed (they are designed more like a hostel, the rooms are literally so close to one another because they tried to fit in as many rooms as they possibly could in such an enclosed space) It was impossible to get a good night's rest. As someone who is very sleep sensitive it's imperative that I get my good hours of sleep in to properly function throughout the day. Robin who works in the front however is very warm and welcoming and will take the time to properly explain how to best utilize your room and the location of the hotel. The complimentary breakfast was okay, but I wish there had been more variety and additional options to choose from. It was a nice perk, but expanding the selection would make it even better. The only downside is that the hotel itself feels a bit outdated. I think it has so much potential if the property were renovated, including the hallways, bathrooms, and guest rooms. With some updates, it could easily become an outstanding hotel. Overall, I had a pleasant stay. While I don't think the property itself is quite at a 4- or 5-star level yet, the exceptional customer service certainly deserves 5 stars. The staff truly made the experience memorable. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. The location and outstanding staff make it worth coming back. That said, I would love to see the hotel add a small lobby gift shop with snacks, drinks, and travel essentials to make the experience even more convenient for guests. The property has so much potential to truly stand out with some thoughtful updates and renovations. I would honestly love to renovate the entire place because I can see how beautiful it could become. The complimentary cheese and wine hour was a wonderful touch and something I really enjoyed and others as well. As for the cookies, they were good but cheap, but I think it would be even more memorable if the hotel partnered with a local Marin County bakery to offer fresh, locally made cookies or pastries. Supporting a local business would give guests a true taste of the area while creating a unique experience they'll remember. Those little details are what make a hotel stand out, and guests are more likely to remember both the delicious treats and the hotel that introduced them to them.

Note: the local town seems to shut down at 9:00 p.m. every night, which is good for quietness but bad if you want a late-night bite. Cons: the building didn't seem well secured. It felt like anyone from the streets could access the outdoor stairs to guests' rooms. Definitely double-bolt your door and don't open it to strangers here. That being said the town itself seems very safe and well policed. The shower lacked water pressure, and the pillow / bed wasn't the most comfortable, tbh. I'd recommend this hotel if you need to stay in Tiburon for a couple of nights (cleanliness is my most heavily weighted hotel criterion, personally). It's not luxury, but it's clean and much more affordable than other spots in the immediate area. I will say though, for maybe a net 50-100 more per night, I stayed at the St. Regis SF (Forbes 5-star), so if you have the ability to stay in the city, you may get more bang for the buck.
