The general store is extremely expensive, and the selection is pretty limited, so it's best to bring your own groceries and supplies. It also feels like the rules have become much stricter, and overall it's gotten a lot more expensive than it used to be. Even with those downsides, Dillon Beach is still a place we'll continue to visit because of the memories we've made and the quality time we get to spend together. I just wish it were a little more affordable and a bit less restrictive than it is today.

No cell service at this location but they have wifi -- overall -- it was okay - I cant say I would go back on my own as for that price id stay somewhere with more amenities.

Wifi signal was great - I watched some Netflix and joined a Zoom meeting from my own computer and had no issues with either. Hot tub was great. Outdoor space to sit at a nice table with four chairs and a nice looking BBQ. I saw an elk roaming on the property, lots of quail and other birds (they have a pictorial guide of birds hanging by the front door right as you walk in). The yurt is on a gravel road. You pass the neighbor's sheep and horses as you drive in. Point Reyes Station is literally right around the corner - a 2-3 minute drive - with lots of food, great markets and shopping. Inverness is a 5-minute drive (if that). The yurt is very conveniently located. I passed Jan and Tony and Stella, their dog, on the way out one night - very friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. I will be thrilled when the opportunity comes to visit again!!

I ordered the French toast after seeing the light in the eyes of my waitress when she described it - along with black coffee and scrambled eggs. The biggest issues: * The rooms are not well insulated. - We could clearly hear normal conversations and footsteps from the room above us. The guests weren't being loud or inconsiderate. The building simply doesn't block sound well. We were woken up multiple times during the night and again early in the morning by people coming home or leaving. * The room felt run down and poorly maintained - There was mildew or mold all on the lower half of the living room curtains, dirt built up in the window sills, cobwebs around the ceiling and skylights, and obvious damage from an old skylight leak with warped, peeling paint that had never been properly repaired. * Missed simple towel requests - Our DELUX KING room came with only TWO bath towels and two hand towels. We politely asked for a few extra towels the first morning there. When we came back that afternoon, the towels had been replaced, but there were still only two bath towels and two hand towels, once again:( we had to walk down to the front desk building and ask for 2 more towels to bring back so we could both shower. * The pillows were dirty and smelled strongly of mildew - They had that unmistakable damp, musty smell like they'd been left wet for a long time. Since we arrived late the first night, we waited and asked the front desk the next AM if they could swap them out. Instead, they simply changed the pillowcases and left the same pillows. We ended up grabbing blankets from our car to wrap around them so we didn't have to smell them while we slept. That should never happen at any price point. It's just baseline to have clean bedding. * Grounds maintenance was poorly timed - On our first afternoon, the grounds crew was mowing with a ride-on mower that wasn't collecting the grass. They drove right up against our deck, covering the patio and lounge chairs with grass and dust. We had the sliding door open, so the debris blew straight into our room. We mentioned it to the front desk on our way out and asked if someone could sweep off the deck. They seemed surprised the mowing was happening on a Friday, which is one of the biggest check-in days. * We also woke up to pressure washing - Early Friday morning, we were greeted by the sound of the building next to ours being pressure washed. It seems like the kind of maintenance that could easily be scheduled during the middle of the week instead of during a busy check-in day. * Sub par restaurant experience - We had dinner at the restaurant our first night with a 6:45 reservation. We were seated on time, but no one came by to even take a drink order for about 20 minutes. We were told they were understaffed. Our food order wasn't taken until around 7:45, about an hour after we had been seated. When we finished dinner, we were immediately offered the check. We asked if there was dessert, and our server said, "Yes, it just hasn't been popular tonight." Our bill was around $250, so it was pretty clear we had come to enjoy a nice dinner, not just grab a quick bite. It felt like a missed opportunity to simply ask if we'd like to see the dessert menu or enjoy another course before ending the meal. I did appreciate seeing the GM helping bus tables during a busy service. That said, I was surprised to see him doing it in flip-flops, which didn't feel appropriate in a restaurant. I work in hospitality, so I understand that staffing challenges happen. But most of what we experienced didn't feel like a staffing issue. It felt like a lack of attention to maintenance, housekeeping, scheduling, and overall operations. The property has so much potential because the location is fantastic. Unfortunately, the guest experience simply doesn't match the price. With better operational planning and more attention to the condition of the rooms, this could be a wonderful place to stay. The only downside for me and my allergies is that there is wood fireplace in each room. The bathroom had plenty of hot water. The breakfast was from 8-10 am in the dining room and had a decent meat-less spread. Toast, bagels, oatmeal and toppings, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, fruit salad, coffee, tea assortment and juices. The grounds are super cute and weather permitting there is a movie playing on a projector with complimentary s'mores to cook on the outdoor wood fire. Since we had our dog, we didn't use the pool or spa. "Aunt Kay" we interacted with the most and was so kind to both of us and Dio. She made our stay! Not only was she informative but also checked in on us when we we'd pass through the lobby. Dio was a big fan of her. Cons: if you have allergies or are sensitive to wood smoke, this is not your destination. Again, there are wood burning fireplaces in each room and a large fire pit by the movie. The room we stayed at is across from the pool and it can get noisy. You can also hear everyone that walks in front of your room. Along with that there is a lot of wildlife, so you may need ear plugs. If you need to sleep in the dark, the front blinds are going to still let in light, so bring a sleep mask. Update: we got a text that I forgot my socks in the room. They offered to mail them to us, we declined. I don't remember the last time house keeping and the front office too the time to be that considerate.

The breakfast in the morning was also very nice and fresh with good options. They had eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, cream cheese, very delicious fruit, oatmeal, coffee and tea. That alone made it a reasonable place to stay. The dining room was also very clean. I also really liked that they had the outdoor movie theater and smores. Our kids loved it each night. The library/game room is also such a cute unique area that is great for those who have kids. However now to the bad. That includes the cute library. While a cute idea, it's extremely dirty filled with dead flies and bees all over the windows and even cushions. The windows on the outside have not been clean in a very long time. The dead flies, bees are everywhere. There on the floor, the light fixtures, jacuzzi and pool. The jacuzzi had so many dead bugs in the water and the water also had probably dirt from people's bodies. It was very unsanitary and disappointing to say the least. The property itself is not maintained. There are bugs, weeds, and poor condition of most of the outside of the property. It's too bad because it could be a great place to stay if they just did some extra work to clean up. Part of me would want to come back because of the breakfast and outdoor movie but they really need to take the time to clean.

Perfectly fluffy beignets, a croque madame baked in a delicate crepe, and berries tossed in a spiced wine syrup with cinnamon and star anise. It honestly rivaled any restaurant brunch I've ever had. The big wraparound porch was our favorite spot to relax, whether sipping morning coffee or enjoying a glass of wine at sunset. The location is ideal too, right in downtown Calistoga but still incredibly quiet and peaceful at night. Every detail here feels thoughtful, and every interaction genuine. You arrive as guests, but you really do leave as friends.
