So I need to edit my review a bit. Originally, I had given this dealership a one star review. I was contacted by the ASM to see what could be done about my experience and I mentioned the vehicle was making some noise and couldn't figure out why and that I noticed a scratch on the passenger side door and paint chip at the hood at the dealership before I drove it off the lot. So he to have them look at it. When I brought it in, the service was so much different. The service manager Giuseppe was great. He explained what was going on (loose license plate, but they couldn't find the vibration, and paint has to be fixed another day.) The ASM also mentioned that they have policies in place for the salespeople to double check the odometer readings to make sure they are accurate. So they do take feedback. Overall, taking the average of the two experiences. I'd give it 3 star. Here's the original... Let's start at the beginning. When I walked into the dealership to buy a car, I couldn't tell you who the person who sold my car to me was. I didn't get a card, and when asked later when I went to pick up the car that I wanted, they asked me how the salesperson was. I had no idea there was nothing to identify them to me. Additionally, the Carfax on the car indicated that there were 45,000 miles on the car that I wanted. I asked them via email to confirm that they did. So I was a bit surprised when there were 47,000 miles on the car when I went to test drive it, and no one knew. Chalking that up to a clerical error, I agreed to consider purchasing the car the same day of the test drive. That's when the salesperson told me that the price was $1000 higher than the advertised price because, according to the fine print, "I didn't buy a car within the last six months from that dealership." I was going to consider other cars at other places until he lowered the price. It's just something to watch out for. When the paperwork was being filled out by the finance people, the original odometer printout said 45,000 miles and change. If I hadn't caught that and had them re-print the paperwork, it would have looked like somebody took over a 1000-mile trip on the car after I signed the paperwork as I took delivery of the car on March 7. Again something to look out for. I wish I could say that it was just my experience, but since they didn't call to ask what time I was thinking to pick up the car like it had been done at other dealerships. It wasn't ready and needed to be detailed, so I waited for two hours. During that time, a woman called, and the desk answered it on speaker. Because I could hear the conversation, I heard that the caller was upset that she got a bill for a car that two weeks ago she had agreed to trade into the dealership with the dealership paying off the loan. She was very upset that she got a bill and didn't know what to do. While the call shouldnt have been ansewred on speaker it does seem to indicate that my experience may not be unique with the dealership. If you buy a car here make sure that everything is explained to you. When I finally got the car released to me, I noticed that there were a couple of scratches on it that I didn't notice during the test drive because they were on the passanger side and on the hood. When I asked about the scratches, the salesperson said, "Well, you had looked at them, and I had said no, I didn't because of where the car was parked." He said that they were old. The car is a certified preowned vehicle. It's surprising that a dealership would let old scratches, especially minor ones, remain on a vehicle because it's an easy fix, and that's never happened at the other two dealerships. Route 22 Toyota said they would fix it, but I'm not hopeful about that. And happy to post an update if they do. But at every turn, it seemed like I was being misled. At the other two dealerships, they gave me the car with a full tank of gas, which I didn't get here, but maybe the policy changed. Like I said, I bought the car because it's a CPO with the features that I wanted, but given how many details were missed, I wouldn't be surprised if everything went wrong as soon as the CPO warranty ran out. read more

If you're shopping for a Toyota in NJ, save yourself the trouble and go straight to Hudson Toyota in Jersey City. They treated me like an actual customer, gave me a complete written breakdown, didn't require a hard credit pull just to tell me the price, and I ultimately bought the exact 2026 RAV4 I wanted for the advertised Toyota price -- roughly $5,000 less than Route 22 Toyota's pricing. And honestly, I have to thank the old mexican man (who I think is the manager at Route 22 Toyota) for making that possible. I walked into Route 22 Toyota already knowing exactly which 2026 RAV4 I wanted. I had done my homework, knew the trim and accessories, and had even told them upfront that I wanted delivery about a month and a half later. I wasn't there to waste anyone's time. The manager standing at the entrance immediately gave me the impression that I wasn't being taken seriously. He asked what I wanted in a very dismissive tone and assigned me a salesperson. Before even discussing the car, they wanted my information and SSN for pre-qualification. Fine. I agreed. While the salesperson was doing the paperwork, I asked to see the RAV4. The manager simply pointed toward the car in the parking lot. I walked over, found the doors locked, and asked him to unlock them. He unlocked the car remotely from a distance and went right back to whatever he was doing. No walkaround. No explanation of features. No test drive. Nothing. I'm a first-time car buyer, so I wasn't expecting a red carpet. But apparently showing someone the car they're considering buying is asking for too much. Then we got to pricing. My credit score is around 800, and they had already done a soft credit pull and pre-qualified me. I asked for the exact pricing for the trim and accessories I wanted before authorizing a hard inquiry. This was because, the vehicle that they pointed me to had a pamphlet specifying the $5000 markup over Toyota's advertised price. I wasn't refusing the hard pull. I simply wanted to know what I was actually buying and what I was actually paying for before allowing an unnecessary hard inquiry. Instead, they wanted me to fill out another application for the hard credit pull before giving me the actual numbers. I asked again for the price first. I got a vague "ballpark" figure and was essentially told to come back when I was actually ready to buy. Here's the funny part: I WAS READY TO BUY. If the numbers worked, I was prepared to put down their $2,000 deposit and have the vehicle delivered a month and a half later. I just wanted to know the price before handing over $2,000 and authorizing a hard credit inquiry. And this wasn't exactly a dealership drowning in customers. There were literally more salespeople roaming around outside than customers for them to attend to. So I wasn't asking someone to abandon five other customers just to entertain me. I spent roughly 20 minutes there and left. I then went straight to Hudson Toyota in Jersey City. What a difference. They gave me a printed breakdown with the pricing, features and costs, answered my questions, and didn't require a credit pull just to give me a quote. Once I was satisfied, I paid a $500 deposit, which they told me was completely refundable, and finalized my 2026 RAV4. And remember that $5,000 markup? Hudson Toyota didn't have it. I got the advertised Toyota price, added the Toyota protection/accessories I wanted, and my total was still less than the "ballpark" Route 22 Toyota gave me. I usually don't write reviews here. But this place is so shady there is not a single person to trust. I will try to reach to Toyota Corporate about my issue. In a nutshell: I came to this Toyota after speaking to someone who said a copy of the Keys would be given via the parts department. I provided a VIN #, no appt needed. When I show up, Parts dept redirects me to Service. Some "Man" there tells me to go to Parts Dept for a spare copy even after I told him Parts Dept told me that the keys need to be scheduled with Service. After I told him this - he shoo'ed me away and told me to ask someone else. Wow. So I asked someone else, who told me that parts needs to order this. So i go back to parts and parts sends me to service, all while trying to convince me what the "key" is. This kind of thinking by a service advisor is bad and will create a false sense of trust in trying to get more money out of you. The person in charge wasn't available. Gave it a couple more days called again for them to tell me that it wasn't processed because it was the wrong part. CLASSIC BAIT AND SWITCH from MECHANIC - STAY AWAY I called the dealership to get an Diagnostic done on my mother's car. The Rep at the front gave me a reasonable rate, so I took time off work to get it towed there. When I spoke to the "Service Advisor" named FRANK, he told me the TOTAL ESTIMATE ALONE would cost over $600.00! This was BEFORE he had even assessed what was wrong with the car. (???) He then presented me with a copy of the work order where his $600+ evaluation fee was mysteriously smudged out at the bottom. I was later told that this practice is ILLEGAL. I proceeded to leave, and have the car towed to a more reputable Toyota dealership. For the third time, even with prior appointments, I have tried to resolve the issue of the recall of my Corolla without success! On the last visit, Toyota kept my car all day and returned it without repairs, causing me losses because I have a car that I use for work that is stopped for repairs that have not been carried out, and because I have to travel to another city to take and pick up the car, and the most serious of all: This is a recall of a safety item that puts the life of the passenger in this vehicle at risk. When I arrive to the dealership, I'm given a little sheet of paper directing me to another location 5 min away. Why didn't they just tell me the address over the phone and text it to me??? I get to the service center and drop off my car. Guy takes down some info and gives me a slip of paper with a number on it and tells me I'll get called when car is ready. He said it'll take about 1hr. I sit down where directed, put on my headphones and wait. I hear them calling numbers, but don't pay much attention because I was only there for 15min. After almost an hour, I go up for an update. I'm told they didn't start on my car because when they called my number to go do my paperwork, I didn't respond. Nobody told me about this number system. I had no idea there was more paperwork they needed (again, why didn't anyone notify me?) The paperwork only took a moment, so why didn't the guy who took my car quickly do it? Not even willing to give his client time to think. When I told him I'll think about it and just come back after this weekend. But he got upset and got very aggressive. In the past, service department had very good technicians. Waiting area is comfortable but refreshments, (coffee, tea area) has always been empty upon my past visits. Will update on my next visits. The car was not ready and I ended up being held hostage for 3 hours in the dealership during a pandemic while the dealership jerked me around. The staff and management are astonishingly rude. Take a look at the other reviews, this is not an isolated incident. The General Manager refused to even speak to me about my car not coming with the agreed upon extras and not actually being cleaned (we found mystery pills in the glove box of our new car). I understand that there is a pandemic and worldwide shortages, but hearing "your car will be here in 2-4 weeks" turned into 2+ months of waiting and BSing from this dealership. Of course it is not their fault that there is a shortage, but they could not care less about gaining business. I went there because their salesperson Rico told me I could get a Grey car in two weeks -- after leaving a dealership with a White one on the lot that day. An older gentleman whos name I never caught told me 2-4 weeks max, no problem. I continually had to follow up and already had a bad feeling. Rico texted me an update with a photo that my car was to be delivered on Jan 15 - failing to mention that this was when the ship arrived. Oddly enough, there was an update to their website that they exact car I wanted in Grey would be arriving around that time. I was then told this was not my car and my car would be here in 2-3 weeks (so now end of January). A man named Oscar said word for word "well let me see if we can get you into that car for a better price if not under." This car was the nicer model and you mean to tell me your managers are that dumb that they don't know their prices were going to be $200 - $300 over my original deal. They did my no favors here and took advantage of the fact that they knew my lease wasn't up until the end of February. If I could give them a negative review I would. First, one of the service men stole my AirPods out of my car. The manager was nasty and dismissive. He basically said I was lying. Then, I new I had a nail in my tire because they told me last time I was there that it I had a low leak in my tire. The next time I went, the nail was "gone" according to my multi inspect report. When in all actuality, they never checked. I had one more free service and went this week. Again, rude customer service. I pick up my car with reggaeton blasting on the radio, and discover through my dash cam, one of their employees dancing in front of my car and another taking a 10 minute call with their significant other about how cool the interior of the car was - presumably on FaceTime showing all my stuff to whoever was at the other end of the call. would I come back to this service center? I have come to this place 3 times and it has always been a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. DO NOT COME HERE and here's why: 1- The service representatives are VERY BAD at following up. I've never gotten a call back or a text message (which they say they would keep you updated via text message but that's the only message you receive). You have chase them up for an update ALL THE TIME. 2- They tend to take much longer reviewing your car so that they can charge you money. I got there with an issue that was covered by the warranty but when I picked up the car, it had another issue that was supposedly not covered by the warranty because it was electrical... Every time I go here I end up paying something. 3- I dropped of my car today at around 10:50 a.m., never got a call back so I called for an update at around 4:40 p.m. and they said "Ok sir, let me put you on hold while I check on the status of your vehicle". They left me on hold and it had already been 43 minutes so I decided to call them up from another phone while still keeping the other call going... The rep that picked up check and they were all gone for the day. THEY LEFT ON HOLD AND LEFT! You can see the picture attached with proof. The only reason why I've returned here is because I'm in Union County, NJ and that's the closest location and I only have one car but I'm considering to travel to NY if I have to service this car. I called to schedule an oil change. The lady asked if I wanted to wait or leave the car. I said I would leave the car. I set up the appt for 9:00am. At 8:58am I was waiting for them to open the gate. I had to wait for 13 minutes. The worker that would attend my car was walking around as if he was strolling by the beach without a care in the world for my time. After leaving the car, they did not call me back to let me know if the car was ready. I called 3 times to no avail. I called the same lady who is in charge of setting up the appt and I explained that 3 hours was too much time to wait for a simple oil change in a new car. She called and could not get a hold of anyone. I finally gave up waiting and I went to pick up my car and they had the audacity to tell me they did not know what to do with my car. They have my number registered with their service agency and they could not call me and ask what to do with the car, even though I told the appt lady that I was leaving car for an oil change? I left the service agency without the oil change and text to dealer. Someone got my number and said they would call me. It is 9pm and no one did. Lousy customer service. Poor communication. It costs them dollars because others will read this review and would think twice of taking their cars there. My suggestion to mangers... customer satisfaction comes first. Bait and switch technique Friend of mine introduced me to a mobile app for leasing cars. (I am not reviewing an APP so I will not mention name) People from the app told me that vehicle is ready, dealer agreed to price, all paper work is done and that dealer will be waiting for us at 5:00 PM. All we need to do is get to Route 22 Toyota, sign and drive away in brand new 2019 Highlander. I was even offered one-way free LYFT ride, complimentary of dealership. We drove in our vehicle (also Highlander), our lease was coming to the end and we would like Return our vehicle to Route 22 Toyota dealership. Up until this point everything was great, We were told to ask for Benard Sporl, when we arrived to Route 22 Toyota and met with Benard, First thing He told us was that the Price has changed and it is $500 more, we were not qualified for Toyota Loyalty program discount (even we were leasing from Toyota financial witch automatically qualified us) I told Benard that this was not part of deal, and we were not aware of this. At this point we knew this dealer will not honor deal they are agreed to. So, Bernard left and came back with sales manager Omar Awawdeh, Omar said that THEY MADE MISTAKE calculating taxes they used NJ 6.97% instead of NY 8.875% and it is ONLY $600 more. (I estimated it is only 1.9 % difference and could not be more then $400). We asked if they will HONOR DEAL THEY ARE AGREED TO, Omar said nothing they could do and if we want the car it would be $600 more down. We were so disappointed on such dishonesty, first they wanted $500 then it went up to $600 REALLY!!!!! WOW!! I know it is not a lot of money, it is matter of principal Route 22 Toyota did not have to agree to deal that they offered on APP and offering LYFT ride to make sure to seal the deal, very sneaky move. All I have to say is that it was hands down one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had in my entire life. I scheduled an appointment for Saturday morning at 10:15 a.m. and I didn't leave until almost 2:00 p.m. Why even schedule an appointment?! Ridiculous. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!!! I brought the new Sienna 2019 Limited on May 23 2019. It was pretty late that day, I thought I would buy it another day, but the sales people were really pushed you make the deal. I trusted the dealership cause it seems have a good reputation on the internet and orally spoke with the sales people if I find anything wrong, they will take care of it. Around 9:30pm, I drove away the new car, of course, I did not double check everything of the car. Couple of days later, I found a hole in the front bumper, I thought it was a parking sensor cover, so I did not pay attention to it. After 2 weeks of purchase (6/6/19), My wife found the parking assistant feature does not work , then I noticed one of the front parking sensor is missing. Then I directly contacted the sales person, they arranged me an appointment with their service and parts department. Today when I came, after 2 hours waiting at the service place, the service lady told me they have to order the part. At the same time, they need a waiver from the sales person. Then I called the sales, they said there is no evidence to proof the sensor was missing at the point of sales! Now I understand I should never ever trust their words. I directly went to sales place again, talked to their manager, he said he needs wait for his boss to approve. What a ridiculous process!! Now I was dealing with Ximena... who assured me that she would personally help me. So I called and she said that she would meet me when I got there. Then another so called Mgr came out to explain that she had an emergency and had to leave that's funny in 2 minutes she had an emergency and left but yet didn't have time to leave????? She then goes on to tell me don't worry David will take care of you. If I didn't want him to take care of me before, why would I want him to take care of me now??????? Not one phone call from John or Ximena and yet now John sends me another email trying again to get me back!!!!! Goes to show that they don't even know who they send their emails out to. This place has been the worst Toyota dealership and worst car shopping experience. It's a long story, so you can stop here and never walk into this place, or you can continue reading and never walk into this place. Either way, to save your money and time, don't make the mistakes that we did. It all started in April, 2013. My family and I went there to get a "brand new" 2013 Corolla. We were new to the area and needed a car fast. We chose Toyota because we had a Tundra which my dad bought in Dayton, OH and he loved it. Plus, I had employee discount through my company. My salesman was Jimmy, he was actually the only nice one. After being there for 5 hours, mostly waiting, the deal was settled. As my dad and I were doing all the paperwork, my mom and my wife were outside and they spotted scratches on the top of the trunk. Yes, we did a test drive and examined the car, but there were just a few spots including the top of the trunk were covered by the white seals. They didn't take off the seals until later. So, we went out. Jimmy, the salesman, could also see them and he went in to get his manager, Carlos. Here came Carlos and screamed, "I know people like you! People who work for the government, policemen, all come here with employee discount! I am not making any money off you so this is what you deserve!" What the heck! First, I don't work for government and second, why would I deserve a brand new car with obvious multiple scratches? I was holding it because I didn't want to lose it in front of my family. So, my wife went ahead and talked to him. Then, he said, "you people are so picky! Just go and check every car here, they all have scratches." I, then, told him that I would like to talk to someone else. Carlos went in and got customer relations manager, Barry Rosner, out. He came out with big smile and said, "If you like I could get another one for you, but I am sure picky people like you will complain about that one, too." Then, my dad said, we would like to talk to your general manager. Barry went to get him and he came out with his cellphone next to his ear. He walked around the car and went in. We followed him and he said to Carlos and Barry, "they are your customers, you deal with them and walked off." Barry, repeated again, "I would love to bring you another one, but I am sure you'll complain about it." That was when I couldn't take it anymore. So, I said, "can you stop repeating yourself! Just do it or tell us whether you can fix the problem or not!" I told my dad that if he couldn't fix the problem, it's not too late to call the bank and let's just go. Then, Barry finally got a technician and he said he could fix it with no problem and get it ready first thing tomorrow. So, stupid us said ok we would come back tomorrow. We came back the next day, the car was ready. Before we left, Mr. Barry Rosner said something really amusing, "I could understand that if you bought a Ferrari, but it's just a Toyota." Why would two managers, Carlos and Barry, talk bad about the cars that they were selling? Now, I think of it, they must have been trying to hint me that all the cars they have are shitty with scratches and Ferrari is so much better and they want to work for them but they are stuck here with Toyota. This is not the end. Later, Jimmy asked me to fax my insurance info so that they could process my license plate. Just about a week before my temp license plate about to expired, I called them to talk about the issue. I was informed that my salesman Jimmy did not work there anymore... SO, my license plate did not come 2 months later, but good thing, I was issued another temp so I was not driving illegally. Finally, I got my license plate and when I was taking the temp off, I found several long circle-like scratches near and on the license plate holder. Guess what...the person who put my temp on did all that when he used the power screw driver. He must have had weak hands and missed the holes when he tightened the nails and decided not to say anything. Terrible, Terrible Terrible Service. Management need to eliminate the weak links in customer service. 20k Service was Allegedly preformed but no proof of multipoint inspection or explanation in details. Driver also almost crashed my car in service area. read more

I went in to see a CPO Toyota Sienna. Although the website lists the price for the CPO vehicle, the sales team tries to tell me that the listed price is the pre-certified price. To get it certified, it would add an additional $1,700. Oh and there is structural damage to the bumper. Sales team tells me that that is normal for a used car. The sales guy speaks with a manager, a smug guy. He shakes my hand and say congratulations. I ask for what, and he coolly responds that we will get a deal done. I tell him my offer which is in line with KBB. He says no way, and walks away. Don't EVER go here to buy a car. Poor attitude and customer service. read more

Bought my 2019 Tundra from Here. When I walked in to their clean, bright and comfortable showroom I was greeted immediately and was left to browse around with no pressure at all. When it came time to talk business I was taken care of by Jorge. He was pleasant and knowledgeable. I was given an excellent price (best I could find by far) and a few days later off I went with my brand new truck! They even bought my old truck at way more than I expected. Avoid this dealership, my previous car broke down and I was desperate to get another car quickly. They sold me a used camry, which I was ok with, and the car fax report was clear. Immediately upon driving it home (i didnt notice these things during the quick test drive) the breaks were making a lot of noise, I didnt get the owners manual, and one of the headlights was out. I texted the person who sold me the car (Ashraf) and he said the break sound was normal because they just changed it and it would go away and that I would get a new owners manual when my new license plate arrives. Didnt say anything about the headlight even though I messaged him several times about it, the breaks 6 weeks later still dont sound right, never got the owners manual, and now most of the touch screen doesnt work and my maintenance required light came on after 2,400 miles when they said they just gave it an oil change (suppose to come on every 5,000 miles). Ashraf ignored my texts and Im just left feeling EXTREMELY unsatisfied with this entire experience. STEER CLEAR of this dealership!!! read more
