Unless you're ok with paying $376 for 45 minutes of labor, a simple battery change, stay far away from this place. I sat and waited as so did my car for 2.5-3 hours only for the mechanic to start working on it 2 hours later. But I got charged labor fees for my car sitting and waiting to be serviced. I had a great dealership experience, worked out a deal on a car with Jeff very easily, no games, straightforward numbers, and put a deposit on the vehicle, amounting almost $500, with pick up in a couple days. The staff was very friendly and courteous and I was even greeted by the general manager. I thought it was one of the smoothest dealership experiences I've dealt with. Due to some unforeseen circumstances I got busy and spent some time in the hospital. The last thing on my mind was getting anew car. I was contacted multiple times to schedule a time to come in checking on me about the deal, I finally was able to follow up to the messages and I was still While I did not respond for a couple more days following, it's understandable that the dealer could not hold the vehicle more than a few operating business days. Still, I was given no notification that was the case and the vehicle could not be held anymore. Similarly, even while they sold the vehicle in which I had a clearer deposit on, they did not immediately process a refund. This was two weeks after I stepped foot into the dealer. Since then I followed up with my sales person Jeff multiple occasions over text with response. I have called the dealership reception over 6 times over 2 weeks and assure it's being processed with the managers or the finance department. Not until the 4/5 call I was asked for my credit card information to process the refund. It was given and confirmed and I was told to expect it soon. That was two weeks and 3 more calls ago. Now 5 weeks since the sold the car I put a deposit on, I still have no refund and no answers from anyone. This really goes to show the professionalism and priorities from this dealership. I can't imagine having bought a car from here and having an issue not addressed because I have already purchased it and it's no longer a priority to them. Visited this dealership on 01/29/23 to purchase an SUV. Salesman (Ralph) photocopied my driver license so I could test drive. Fair enough. Already had approval letter in hand so there was going to be no doubt about my purchase. Return from the test drive and the salesman asks for my zip code (I reside in another state). I give him the zip code and he says, "The sales tax in your state is 6%". I respond, "No it's not, it's 4.15%". He gives me a stupid look and proceeds to move on to the next attempted scam. I then asked him the sales price of the car (I already knew the price) and he says, "$32,399." I said, " No it's not, it's $31,888". He plays dumb and says, "Well I guess that's the price I'll have to sell it to you for". He then says to me," I need you to fill out a credit app". I said, "Excuse me?" He says, " I don't know who you are, you could be anybody" as he points to my name and address on the approval letter from the bank and walks away with my approval letter from my bank. Mind you, my name and address were good enough to take a test drive 15 minutes prior. I sat there a minute thinking about what he had just said to me while I waited for him to return. He comes back with the general manager (Leo) who was very condescending and rude to say the least. GM proceeds to explain to me that I should just fill out the credit application and continue with the sale. I explained to him that I want to go with my bank for financing. GM replies that he doesn't know if the bank will release the funds to their dealership. My bank is a financial partner with them. He knew this but pressed ahead anyway. I stood my ground and Ralph stepped in and advised me it could take "hours or even days" to get the money from my bank. I knew this also to be false as I always walk into the dealer with an approval letter and walk out with the vehicle I intend to purchase. Ralph continued to argue with me about my approval letter by saying, "Do you really care where the money comes from?' I also knew dealers get a percentage of every customer that they get to finance with them. I then said to him, "This is the most difficult experience I've ever had buying a vehicle". Leo then jumps up from his seat and yells at me to get my bank's manager on the phone, as he walks away. Needless to say, Leo did not return. I knew at this point I was in the wrong place and I politely asked Ralph for my approval letter back and I walked out without saying another word to either of them. Ralph's attempts at being deceptive were laughable at best. Leo presented himself as condescending, pushy and rude, neither of which had an effect on me or worked. These individuals refused to sell me a vehicle based upon my rejection to do as they wanted. I'm 100% sure my negative experience was the tip of the iceberg had I done business with them. I am also sure that I saved myself a lot of grief down the road had I made the purchase (I know would have had to make several trips back to NJ from my home state). My contact with them is proof positive car salesmen hate it when you know all the tricks they use. Buyer beware. read more

I reached out after a Costco Buying outreach and had 2 calls with sales rep Richard who was very quick to answer my OSD (overseas delivery) questions which are an infrequently form of sale. They were good answers with the only reason I didn't follow through being too little assurance in them to get me to go in person or to order remotely. Later when I used TrueCar to check prices, I got a reply from Internet sales specialist Ben E. who works here and for other Long Motor Group (this dealership's parent company) locations. Ben was also quick and more detailed with answers though by then I'd already bought a 2018 XC90 T5 Momentum FWD in Ice White/Blonde with Convenience Package and child seat from Volvo Princeton which has significant OSD experience. Overall, good sales performance from this dealership, just needed more direct OSD answers instead of asking that I make it there in person. I also add that Volvo Overseas Delivery is a superb program worth considering: 5-8% off MSRP and free air, hotel, meals, VIP to get your car from its factory in Gothenburg, Sweden. read more

Got a good price on used Nissan pickup that needed some repairs with a limited 30 day support warranty. Got it cleaned and salesperson who was very polite (Sam) and helpful during buying process but when temp tags expired and I could not use vehicle and I was given no options to extend temp tags nor loaner vehicle until my pickup had the proper registration and plates (Leo-GM). They waited too late in the 30 days allowed with temp tags to get it resolved at my cost. Rating before that could of been much higher but not now. Also note that reported CARFAX repairs that appear on report as being addressed were not done properly so now I will not trust any CARFAX report on any used vehicle's. read more

Buyer beware. I recently purchased an XC60 recharge at Open Road. I was traveling so I asked Matt to hold the car for a day and gave a deposit because I wasn't sure of the color. I arrived as I promised. When it came time to negotiate, I told them I wasn't paying more than MSRP. Matt said let talk to my manager. The typical BS game they all play. He came back said ok but you have to finance through us. I already had financing that was lower and better. Matt said work with me. I agreed as I wasn't or at least I thought I wasn't being swindled out of $2000. He focused on the payment not the details. My fault for believing him so when it came time to sign the finance papers I didn't look at all the lines MY BAD. Never ever believe what they say look at every line. I drove two hours to this dealer because they had a car a was interested in. Again I could have gone else where and I suggest you do the same. I called Matt on it when I realized what they did. He basically said yes I showed you a number. I said I wasn't paying more than MSRP and he agreed and then mislead. He stated just refinance it and it will cost the dealer $2000 so we are even BS. I stopped at dealership at 5:30 today. When I arrived parking was a problem, not sure where they expect customers to park. I opened the door and was greeted by someone from the service department. He was polite and friendly. He asked me if I needed service or sales. I responded sales and he told me it was up front. I walked up front and everyone was sitting at their desk using their cell phone. They weren't talking on their cell phone, they were using their cell phone. Not one of the 3 of them looked up and asked could I help you. When I realized there was no showroom I was even more disappointed in the dealership. I tried to open the door to exit, but it was locked, still not one of them asked if they could help me. I realized all the doors were locked except the one I entered through. I went outside and began looking at the Volvo S60's in front. Still not one of the employees came out to ask if I needed help. I went to the far end of your lot where the new S60's were and walked in the mud and grass to look at the S60's in the lot. Someone came out and I thought finally someone is going to help me, but no he did help. I walked back to once again look at the S60's in front and I could see two people with their back to me using their cell phones. I guess thdealership doesn't need to sell vehicles they must sell themselves! Most disappointing experience I had at a car dealership. I felt it was necessary to update the original review I did. After writing the original review I received a call from Barry of Open Road Volvo. Barry apologized and asked me to give him a chance to show me that Open Road Volvo was the place that I would want to buy a car from. On Saturday 8/15 my wife and I went to Open Road. After parking our car we looked at the blue Volvo S60 T5 that was in the fronting the dealership. Before we could get a good look we were greeted by Andy, who asked if he could held us. We went inside and after a few minute of talking with Andy he brought us a pine gray with blond interior S60 T5 to inspect. We took a test drive and Andy explained everything how to navigate through all the features. We went back inside and Andy gave us Open Road's best price. We told Andy that we need some time to think it over. There was no pressure from Andy or his manager. After a couple of hours we returned to Open Road and meet with Andy. Andy went and got the car once again so we could look it over again. Once again Andy explained every feature and allowed us to navigate through all the features. RUN!! Highly recommend to stay away from this place. I'd like to walk you guys through my experience. I was in the market for a SUV, I ended up purchasing a Volvo from this dealer after working with 3 salesmen. Andy was my first guy, he was responsive in the beginning but when I went to the dealership after scheduling a appointment with him to see a car, he ended up helping a different customer and had me wait 1 hour. I left. I met with another guy, can't remember his name, he was not quick to respond, needless to say the car was sold. Claire, saved the day. She called me a few days later and helped me on the car we purchased. Claire ended up resigning a week later so I worked w the managers on some issues that needed to be addressed for the vehicle. 1. Car had scratches and the dealer said they'd fix it, they did but the car was left w circular marks on one side of the car. 2. I called regarding my plates but could not reach the dealer, finally when asked about my plates we found out our paperwork was never sent to the bank. It was just a mess. They blamed it on the finance manager. 3. I had to call Volvo Corporate to find out they won't even help us on this issue w my plates as it's been 3 months. 4. The dealership does not properly vet CPO vehicles. We had a missing piece on the ceiling of our vehicle and it wasn't something you'd catch immediately. Go to Bridgewater and ask for Jesus. Great guy, I should've paid a little more for less of a headache. read more

Inquired about a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle and made an offer per their online deal platform. Upfront they disclosed $399 VIN etching fee and a hefty $799 documentation fee in addition to the standard license, registration and state taxes. I offered to pay about $500 documentation fee (which is still high but similar to what other Volvo dealers have charged) and refused to pay the VIN etching fee as that is pure profit and not needed. They countered with an additional $2600 in fees on top of the VIN etching, that were not initially disclosed on their website. They wanted $1900 in prep fees (do they not account for these when they take the vehicle in?) and almost $700 in what was called "3 Year Maintenance". I replied back that I would not pay those fees and asked them to consider my original offer as I agreed that the vehicle was priced fairly. They declined, which is their right. I have no doubt that they will find customers that will pay those undisclosed and unnecessary fees that are pure dealer profit and have little to nothing to do with the actual cost of the vehicle. Please Google which fees that you should be paying and that are legitimate when you are negotiating a vehicle purchase. I appreciated the communication, which is why I added a star but it appears that they are setting the prices of the vehicles artificially low in order to make up for it with these extra fees. Also, I suggest doing everything you can from home before going in for a test drive. I would have wasted quite a bit of time had I gone in to look at the vehicle only to find out that their pricing is not at all upfront. read more

I have left 6 messages for Phil, the used car manager, and my sales rep with no call backs. No emails. I would never leave a poor review unless there was no other option. I purchased a used 2018 SUV for $70,000 from this dealer a week and a half ago. Upon arrival the drivers seat was broken. Not a big deal but I drove 2 hours to get to the dealership for this model I wanted and was not able to come back another day to pick up the car fixed so I said I would have it fixed on my own. They were apprehensive of giving me any sort of reimbursement or credit.. Said they wouldn't just write a check to someone else to fix a seat they could fix but haven't yet. Upon arriving home we noticed the rear seats were missing their head rests. I called again and again to see if they had them or what could be done. Again.. this wasn't a $5,000 beater it was a $70,000 used car! Still waiting on any sort of response other than the poor girls at the front desk who I am sure are tired of hearing from me. At this point I am at a loss. Speaking to friends who run and manage other dealerships said to leave a review since we aren't getting responses any other way! The last call was yesterday morning and the girl absolutely promised she would call me back if no one else did. No response again. Not going to hold my breath any longer. Unless something magically happens I will never deal with this company or refer them to anyone with the lack of responses I have got to rectify this situation. A little about me first. I'm a traveling salesman that covers the entire Northeastern U.S. market and drive roughly 30k-35k miles a year. Needless to say, leasing was not an option for me. Now given that I would have to finance the vehicle, long term reliability and having an excellent warranty were very important to me. My initial interest was BMW's and Infiniti's. But after test driving a few (bmw 440i xdrive and Infiniti Q50, Q60) i was not impressed when compared to how much i had to pay. I wanted a vehicle that had all the latest cabin technology and infotainment center, was comfortable to ride in, had great style and had good power while still being fuel efficient. If you had told me a year ago that I would be looking for a Volvo, I would've told you you're crazy and that Volvo is an old persons luxury car. Well today I can tell you how completely wrong I was. I was in a situation where I needed a new vehicle ASAP as I had just sold mine. While out shopping around, my wife said why don't we just stop by Volvo and have a look as she loves the styling of their SUVs. Upon arrival to Volvo of Edison, we briefly browsed the lot and we're greeted by salesman, Jesus Garcia. Jesus was extremely friendly, professional and knowledgeable, but was not pushy at all. Keep in mind that I had not done a research on Volvo, their vehicles or this particular dealership, which is something I would never normally do. However, Jesus took us to his office to better understand my needs and what my comfort level was financially. Within 5min after sharing, Jesus said he had the perfect car in mind and that I would really surprised. Let's just say that I did not have high hopes. Jesus brought out a 2018 CPO Volvo S90 t5 was momentum, which had previously been used as a rental vehicle. When I explained to him that I did like knowing it had been a rental, he quickly put my concern to rest as the vehicle was a certified pre-owned and the vehicle cake with a 4yr unlimited mile bumper to bumper warranty. The test drive was nothing short of perfection. Just opening the door and sitting in the cabin, you immediately are surrounded by quality comfort and all the latest technology you could ever want. I mean seriously....this car is packed with tech goodies (I'm a big tech guy). But the most surprising part to me was how well the car drove from the surpisiing power of a 4cyl turbo charged engine to the cloud like ride to virtually eleiminated every bump in the road. Even my wife was in awe of how nice the ride was. Jesus took the time show all the cars features and answer any and all questions we had. It doesn't stop here though. When we got back to the dealership to talk #s and try to make a deal, o told Jesus that I wanted nicer 20in wheels I had seen online versus the standard 19in wheels that were on it. Well, guess what, he went and spoke with the sales manager, Rudy and within 5min, he came back and said no problem. Now I'm not going to get into the amount that I paid or what we negotiated, but I can tell you that Rudy, Jesus and the finance manager, Jose went above and beyond my expectations and I ended up walking away with an amazing deal on a truly awesome vehicle. The team at Volvo of Edison were true professionals from the minute I walked to the minute I left the dealership with my CPO S90. I really can't thank them enough for what they did for me and will be a customer for life. Even my wife said that she will be coming back to lease an XC60 when her current VW lease is up. And always recommend friends to bring their car here. They used to be on south bound side, but they moved in that Saab dealership (Anyone remember that one?!). All new faces I don't recognise, except the sales person that sold me the car. She is always pleasant and says hi..hello! I liked dealing with Jim. The previous Service Manager.. He was good and very helpful. He knew just how valuable your time was to you. The crew now? Not so much. Yeah, sure they're cordial and accommodating before they get your money. After they swipe that plastic, it gets to be a painful experience wishing you had never brought your car there in first place. Wait time after getting the car serviced is absurd. To wait for almost four hrs? Come on!!!! Unless you decide to spend almost your entire day here, avoid them if you can. read more

I could not have had a worse experience buying a used Volvo at this dealership even if I had tried. I came to this dealership on a Saturday to see a V60 despite having already placed a refundable deposit on a S60 at another dealership. I truly regret not just getting the S60 from Prestige. First and foremost, I placed a deposit on the vehicle that Saturday and told the salesman that I was going to pick it up on Tuesday. They promise to use a heat gun to repair some leather indentations on the back seats. I negotiate for them to put new tires on the vehicle because the current tires are bald. I'm told that because of the new tires, they cannot budge on price. Come Monday, I remember that the windows were tinted too dark for my state and call them and ask for them to take the window tints out. It's Tuesday, the day to pick up the vehicle, and I take the day off of work. I call the dealership in the morning and they tell me that they can't get the car ready today. We go back and forth and they finally agree for me to come get the car late in the afternoon. I arrive at the designated time and the car is not ready. I meet with the finance manager and we go through the paperwork. One of the things we go over is a promise by them that the car will pass inspection. The tints are not removed and I wait an hour and half for the car to come back from the detailer. While waiting the sales manager tells me that he couldn't have sold me the car without putting new tires on it anyway; thereby showing that they lied about giving me a deal with new tires as part of some sort of negotiation when they would have put new tires on the vehicle anyway. The car arrives and they never used a heat gun to repair the leather. Their excuse was that it was the end of the month and they were busy. I did not see a single other customer leaving with a new car at the dealership during the whole three hours I was there. They wanted me to stay for a photo, fat chance of that. I'm left to drive in rush hour traffic home. Fast forward to two days before my temporary plates are about to expire. I call them asking where my plates are and they tell me there was a problem with my insurance being in my wife's name and so they couldn't register the car. It would have been nice to know that before the temporary registration was close to expiring. I correct the insurance issue after they tell me I can no longer register the car on my own. They also tell me its illegal for them to issue me another temporary tag. Therefore, I'm left at their whim as to driving a car with an expired temporary registration tag. The next terrible experience in this saga is when they mail my plates to me, without telling me, and the UPS driver says no one was home, despite someone being home, and the plates are taken to a UPS access point which is closed for the next five days. My temporary registration tag was already expired at this point. My temporary registration will be expired for over a week before I am able to get the plate from the UPS access point. The last terrible experience in this saga is when I went to get the inspection on the V60. It fails inspection because of the illegal tints that they failed to remove. I called the dealership and spoke with the salesman who sold me the vehicle. I tell him about how the finance manager promised me that the vehicle would pass inspection and he tells me they were just talking about the "engine and stuff." After telling him that the finance manager promised me that the car would pass inspection without any qualifiers he says he will speak with his sales manager tomorrow and get back to me. That same day he calls me back about the plates and I tell him what happened with UPS. His response was, in sum and substance, that sucks. A week and one phone call later, I still had not heard from anyone at the dealership. Do yourself a favor and do not buy a Volvo from this dealership. read more

I didn't purchase a car from here - but only because I didn't want a Volvo. I did, however, have the pleasure of meeting one of the most honest and upfront people in car sales: Kevin. He scoured for a car we'd like, and in all honesty, it was beautiful. When I said the mileage was a little high, he retreated to his office and tried to find another. He never pushed us towards a car we didn't like. In fact, when his manager brought up a car that didn't meet our specs, he was the first one to say so! Being a Volvo owner for many years decided to get the S90 as my next car. Searched for a new S90 on Volvo usa website and found the color model i was looking for at the Volvo of Edison. Spoke with the Sales person Jesus Garcia who seemed nice but when it came to sign the papers I saw that the new car had 789 miles on it. No wonder the salesman was trying to rush me in signing the paperwork and clearly had a wring intentions of concealing the fact that the car was used internally or as a demo maybe. Beware and avoid this dealership.
