We ordered the special (smothered pork chops), because usually service is quicker if you order the special. They were out of the majority of their meager side selection , and twenty minutes after placing our order the server came and informed us that they are out of the smothered pork chops. Fast forward twenty minutes later... still no food and none of the customers who came in before us have food yet either. I just watched a customer go in the kitchen to get a coffee pot to give herself a refill. Service here sucks. At this point I don't care if the food is amazing when it arrives, because the long wait and crappy service is not worth it. ETA : customer who was here before us got tired of waiting and got up and left before their food arrived. ETA 2 : another table just got up and walked out because they got tired of waiting. ETA 3: Definitely not worth the wait or the price. Waited an hour and ten minutes for a dry as the desert burger, a micro side of mashed potatoes with thin watery gravy, and a side of canned corn ($11.50); and overcooked chicken livers that tasted like they've never changed their fryer grease, a tiny baked potato with fake butter and burnt bacon, and a side of woody broccoli stems ($11). Didn't get a single drink refill.

LOUD AF on a Tuesday night with incredibly slow service…read more I like to eat in local places while we're on the road. Read about this place being historic with a beautiful bar and lovely tin ceiling. And that is all true. Walked in and could not believe how loud the single singer with an acoustic guitar was. There was a sound engineer, working a board, so he must've thought that level was OK. But you could not have a conversation at all. I was wishing for earplugs. When we first stepped in, I considered just looking at the carved mahogany bar and going somewhere else. But, we figured it should be fast and we could endure the cacophony for a short time. We were so wrong about it being fast. There was only one wait staff working that night, and she was also behind the bar. When she finally moseys over to us, she admitted she had forgotten all about us. She then took our drink order, and the drinks came quickly. But then she literally never came back to take a food order. Watched her go to all the other tables, watched her clean off the bar, watched her answer a phone call for a takeout order, and then I finally went up to the bar and asked her if we could put in a food order. Once the food was ordered it came out quickly. My husband's smashburger and candied pecan salad were both really delicious. I am a sucker for a local food item whenever I see it on the menu, and I made the mistake of ordering the cashew chicken poutine. The cashew sauce had zero flavor and was just overly salty. The chicken was fried very tough. At least the cheese curds were good. But I barely ate any of it. Nothing but regret about this choice.

The restaurant has a very cozy intimate setting, if you're lucky and go on a busy day they might have live music playing aswell! Their food is a 10/10 Same with their prices too, I recommend the lemonade!

Enter The Grotto west coast food. Since I lived on the west coast for 40 years I thought it was appropriate that I come to judge the West coast authenticity. This place is awesome. My friend had a Baja bowl that looked and smelled divine and I had the steak Gorgonzola salad, the meat portion was huge and the candied pecans were delicious. I might even bring my super judgmental west coast rude family here since I think even they would be pleased at how delicious the food was. We sat in a comfy booth and loved every bite of our meal, the balsamic vinaigrette was the perfect complement to the savory steak and sweet pecans. I can't wait to go back to the grotto

I got the caesar salad on the side and that was actually better than the sandwich, I should have gotten that as my meal instead of the side, it was MUCH better than the sandwich. Fiancé picked the burger and he was pleased with it, he said he would come back for it, so maybe just don't get the chicken sandwich. Everyone working at this spot was very nice and super friendly! The location itself was very clean and staff were going through table by table and cleaning everything (I was shocked because it was already very clean).

Overall their food was up to par compared to home cooked meals, the only thing that was lacking was the flavor. There was definitely flavor but I would personally like a little more spices added into the mix. I also thought that their red sauce was a little over the top on spice without the flavor, on a high note their verde salsa had great flavor and the perfect amount of spice. Their agua Fresca specifically their Jamaica (hibiscus) was absolutely amazing!! Lastly the service was great and very nice! Overall this place has been the closest to tasting like home and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a fast of home!

I call ahead my orders to get it when I arrive. It gives them some time to prepare it. They are always friendly and helpful on the phone. I do tell my friends about them all the time. I'm always looking forward to my next visit.
