Everything about this restaurant is first class (service, food quality, atmosphere) with surprisingly low prices. We had lunch here at noon on a Monday and just got in before a line started to form. There were 4 of us and first time here for all. The menu is broad enough for all to be happy - seafood , chicken , salads, pasta, and beef. I had the cedar planked salmon with bourbon sauce and it was amazing. For sides I had a baked potato and a cup of gumbo. The gumbo tasted like I was fine dining in New Orleans. In fact if I get the chance to dine here again, I'll have a bowl of gumbo and the side salad. It had plump sautéed shrimp on top and was perfectly seasoned with spices. Very impressed with this place. The appetizer was excellent, and the meal overall exceeded my expectations. The biggest surprise was the price--you get incredible quality for what you pay. I've been to FD's Grillhouse 10+ times, both dining in and to-go, and it's one of the most consistently well-run restaurants in Springfield. The food is always good, the menu is well put together, and everything comes out prepared the way it should. You can tell there's a strong operation behind the scenes -- it feels clean, organized, and reliable every time. Service has always been solid, and overall it's just a place I don't hesitate to recommend or return to. The only drawback, and it's not a dealbreaker, is the dining room acoustics. It's a beautiful space, but when it fills up, the noise really carries and can get pretty loud. That said, it's still a go-to for me and somewhere I'd happily eat anytime. read more

We were in town to pick up our son from camp and came across the yelp reviews and thought we'd try this place. It was crowded for 2 pm but they got us in within 5 minutes. What a great place to eat! We are new to the area and were looking for a good place for seafood. Found FD's Grillhouse and boy, were we in luck! I had the fish & chips and they were amazing! My wife went with grilled shrimp, and she loved them (I also had to steal one). The restaurant was ultra chic, clean lines and lots of glass to bring in light. Very cool. Excellent food, fair prices, great service and the only dessert on the menu is key lime pie, it's homemade, it's absolutely delicious and now I understand why it's the only dessert on the menu. We came upon this restaurant because it's in the same parking lot as Texas Roadhouse, and that's where we were headed, and the line and wait is so ridiculous there. We always come back. It has become our go to restaurant for good food at a reasonable price. Conveniently located near SMG. We like to dine in the bar area. We always get the firecracker shrimp and usually the salmon quinoa salad. We have tried almost everything but these two are favorites. We used the waitlist and only waited about 5-10 minutes versus the 30-40 on a Saturday evening. The fried pickles are a must. Perfect flavoring, the coating was great. Ranch was nice compliment. I've had the ribs, the salmon, and the chicken fingers. The chicken fingers are great, cooked well and flavorful. Not too dry or greasy. The cole slaw is one of my fav sides. Not too much vinegar, great balance and consistency. The salmon is also good if looking for something healthier. The broccoli didn't have much flavor so definitely on the healthy side. Great meal. Wonderful 1st visit to celebrate 35th Wedding Anniversary. Used the waitlist option on Yelp and only waited a few minutes after arriving ahead of others waiting for a table. Started with the fried pickle appetizer and it was delicious. Glass of moscato enjoyed the fruity flavor. Both of us had the cedar plank salmon- which was fantastic. Comparable to any salmon dish I had living in Seattle. Great waitress who though busy did not neglect checking in. The restaurant was full and a bit noisy, but food and prices totally made up for it. My fiancé and I stopped here on our way back home from our getaway weekend and it was extremely busy, but we got attended almost right away and received our food almost right away as well. As an appetizer I had the Crispy Pickles, which are lightly fried pickles served with house buttermilk and the Triple Dip, which included black bean dip, homemade queso blanco and fresh salsa with warm tortilla chips. If I could have just the crispy pickles as my main dish I most definitely would!! For the main dish I had their FD's Trio, you can pick any 3 main dishes out of 6! I had the Chicken Tenders, Grilled Shrimp, and the Fresh North Atlantic Salmon. When the plates arrived, it looked very presentable, but it didn't look like it was enough to get me filled up... I... was wrong. I had about three bites in and I was full!!! I was disappointed in myself because the food was so amazing!! And we weren't even close to being back home, but the food so was soo good we took it to go. I selected this restaurant from an online search as we do not live in Springfield. The menu and the environment looked really nice. Wow - apparently everyone in Springfield feels the same way! The line was out the door! Good thing we used Yelp to get on the waiting list. Service was quick and friendly. Their house salad was unlike anything - delicious glazed walnuts, and green apple slices and sweet cornbread croutons were a fun surprise. My husband got the combo of battered chicken, cod, and grilled salmon with fries. All absolutely delicious. The batter was unique - light, crispy, and has somewhat of a cornmeal texture. I got the fish tacos. Came out as a fish burrito - not exactly what I expected, but still nice. The Keylime pie is a must try. It was the most tart Keylime pie we had ever had. When we travel back through Springfield, we will return. read more

I am sorry I did not get our servers name, but she was great!!! So friendly and absolutely charming. My husband ordered the fish tacos, which came with a cup of gumbo! He loved that the gumbo came with shrimp, sausage and even had okra in it. The gumbo had a great flavor... a bit spicy, but that's just the way gumbo should be. His fish tacos were packed with all kinds of stuff and very tasty. I had the FD's Trio....fried shrimp, crab stuffed shrimp and Alaskan cod. I chose their mashed potatoes and matchstick veggies. The whole dinner was a HUGE HOME RUN! The coating on the fried shrimp and cod was light and crispy. The crab stuffed shrimp was other-worldly....so very good. I judge restaurants by their mashed potatoes and these get a big ole A+!!!! Matchstick veggies offered a bit of tasty relief from all the richness. Our server brought drink refills without having to ask for them (nice touch). The restaurant is just so cozy and a great place to enjoy a great meal. The food here is always soooooo good! And the best part is that the prices are so darn reasonable. This place is always busy so pack your patience but it is worth the wait. I love their trio plate. The salmon, cod and stuffed shrimp are my norms and they are da BOMB! One small problem is that they have so few desserts but for me, that is really a positive since it keeps me from eating any sweets lol. We have been here three times now and every time is as good if not better than the time before! I have been meaning to do a review since our first visit. This place is a 10/5. Yes, I think it is that good. Highest I have ever rated a restaurant. We have not had anything that was not excellent. This place is always busy with good reason, but their computer "waitlist," helps cut the time you wait. It is a bit loud as it is an open restaurant so I would not go if looking for a quiet meal. However, if you are looking for great food at a reasonable price with great service, I cannot recommend anywhere more than FD's Grillhouse! We have had the fish, steaks, chicken, salads, every appetizer they offer, and it has all been wonderful. Not to mention the wonderful key lime pie! I feel bad I cannot remember the first waiter that served us our first time. He was great and set the bar which Bailey and Allie every bit lived up to. They were all very personable, attentive and accommodating. I did not speak with Julian but was told he was the manager. I then watched him and saw leadership by example. I have no idea what kind of manager he is, but he was all over the place, seating people, bringing out food, and zipping here and there performing all kinds of tasks. Everyone there seems engaged and intent on providing the best experience for their customers. I am so sorry, that I did not ask the lady's name that buses tables (in an effort to acknowledge her, I am going to describe her as perhaps Hispanic and on the shorter side), but every time we are there, she is working non-stop. She works calmly but quickly. Everyone makes the process look like a well-oiled machine from seating to serving to cleanup. Every time the food has come out quickly, hot, and delicious. I ordered the ribs and grilled shrimp with fries and had zero complaints. The ribs were tender and fell off the bone, the shrimp was grilled and seasoned perfectly, and the fries were crispy and flavorful. Everything was prepared well and served hot.
