I never feel like i'm getting ripped off. True story--a few years ago i was driving along and started to hear this loud, scraping noise come from my car. It sounded terrible and like it was coming from under my hood! I immediately called and was able to bring it in right away. I waited about 10 minutes for them to look at it. A worker walked in with a branch in his hand and said "Ma'am, this is what the noise was...this branch attached to the underside of your car and dragging on the ground." I was super embarrassed, but relieved it was nothing. If he was dishonest, he could've tossed that branch aside and started reporting a bunch of problems to me with my car.

He and his wife sold the business to James and Shirley Brown circa 2005, who happened to be relatives of theirs. Therefore, this business is still family owned. In fact, Mrs. Shirley still works there as their accountant and takes customer calls too. Joey Talkington, the shop's office manager and part owner, runs the day to day operations of the shop. And guess what.......he's a family cousin too. He also runs the day to day operations at LaPrairie's second location, which is primarily used for fleet work, very large vehicles and also serves as an overflow shop when the Kenner shop is full and / or busy. There are four body and fender technicians and 2 painters. And guess what......the owners' son David is one of the painters. They are a State Farm Select shop, which means that if you have State Farm or the person that hit your car has State Farm, only 1 initial estimate is needed. Any additional hidden damage that is discovered during the repair process does not need to be re-adjusted, as State Farm "trusts" LaPrairie's adjusted estimate. The shop only uses Sherwin Williams automotive paints (Official automotive paint of NASCAR) and their Garmat USA paint booth (manufactured in Englewood, CO) is known to offer the most effective airflow in the market. In fact, as per Garmat's website, each unit is built for its customer's specific application. Unfortunately, my car was involved in a minor accident, when someone reversed into me while I was sitting at a red light on Canal Street and their trailer ball sliced through my front bumper skin. A co-worker overheard my car woes and recommended LaPrairie's, which happens to be his parents' shop. I met Joey upon my arrival and he already knew I was coming there. They treated me very well and Mrs. Shirley even gave me a ride to pick up my rental car. While the car was there, I opted to fix a door ding and a handlebar scratch on the driver's side of the car. I got the car back and the repairs were unnoticeable. They also detailed the car and gave it back to me looking great. All in all, I was completely satisfied and cannot recommend this place enough. However, I hope not to have to go back any time soon. But if I am ever in need of an excellent collision center, LaPrairie's will be my 1st choice.
