PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE GOING HERE. Our dog Jordan was severely attacked at daycare here and required emergency surgery. She had 14 wounds requiring staples, and several of them needed drains. There was severe muscle tissue damage, and the vet bills were nearly 3K. Laura claimed that the attack was stopped immediately, but the damage resembled that from a prolonged attack. She did nothing to seek out medical care for our dog, and only left us a voicemail stating that Jordan had been in a "little tiff" with another dog. Once we got Jordan home, it was obvious that this had not been a little tiff, and that she needed care immediately. She could barely walk and had wounds all over her body. Laura repeatedly tried to downplay the seriousness of the situation, refusing to call it an itattack, and stating that sometimes dogs get too excited and nip at one another. This clearly wasn't the case here. Jordan, nearly 11, has never hurt fly, so not only did she not provoke the attack, but the damage was extensive and more than just the result of few nips. The vet seemed shocked by the amount of damage done. Jordan remained under their care for 24 hours, several of which she was in surgery. I could go on and on about the pitiful response to this situation by Laura, but I'll let the picture speak for itself. I would never risk putting my dogs lives in Laura's hands again. I understand that sometimes things happen with dogs, but this was extreme, and Laura handled it terribly to say the least. Please don't make the same mistake we did. Go somewhere else. Edit: I will say that we were eventually reimbursed, but not by Laura. We were reimbursed by the other dogs owner, and only because we filed a report with animal control and they pressed charges. I still have the voicemail Laura left my wife after the attack. There's nothing serious about it. I'll share it with anyone who doubts my review. Jordan has healed physically at this point, but she is incredibly anxious around other dogs now. She probably always will be. If my wife thought Jordan was fine initially, it's because you told her there were two bite marks, and she had her hands full picking up three dogs at once, so she couldn't verify your claim until she got home. There were 14 bite marks requiring staples. More if you counted the minor ones. If you had given Jordan more than a few seconds of attention following the attack, you would have known it was more than two. You should also avoid using quotation marks so carelessly when I doubt you remember my wife's exact words. If she thought Jordan was ok, it was only because she took your word for it. I'm certain that your voicemail, which is an actual recording, is more accurate than your memory. I understand that you have a business to maintain, but this might not be the best situation for you to be arguing about . read more

Rovers Stay and Play has been a god-send for me. I had to be in Denver with my dog to help my son thru an emergency hospitalization now for three months. He is very excited to get there everyday. The team there look forward to his arrival everyday and treat him like family. (They treat me like family too). I have had the opportunity for many weeks to watch them in action and see how they deal with all the pups that come and go and it's wonderful ! I've had my dog at other facilities in the past and Rovers is tops! Oh, and I saw some other not so nice review and I don't see how any dog could get "lost" with a SIX-foot high fence all around! Laura, Wendy and their amazing staff were second Momma's to my boy. He was thrilled to show up everyday and never wanted to leave! He was loved like he was their own, I am the crazy dog lady that is extremely particular and overly controlling of Sully's care/needs and Rover Stay and Play exceeded those. Rover Retreat is the only place that I truly feel comfortable boarding my dog. The staff is very friendly and it's family operated. This is important because you don't get some loser employee doing a bad job because he doesn't really care about the success of the business. The people working there have some "skin in the game" and are driven to retain their customer's business. My dog loves it, he is always worn out and happy when we go to drop him off. I have been taking my mastiff to Rover Retreat in Wheat Ridge for almost 4 years now - both for doggy daycare and boarding. After moving to south Denver a couple years ago, I have tried out a few different doggy daycares closer to my location, and although I never had a horrible experience, there is just no place that compares to Rover Retreat and Wendy & Laura. You can see it in my dog's face, or hear it in the way he whines when we pull into the parking lot - so excited to go inside and play. So when the time comes, I don't mind the 30-40 minute trek each way, because I know while he is there he is well taken care of, happy, running his hyper little butt off with other friendly dogs, and most importantly is safe. I wouldn't trust him with anyone else! read more

Fantastic place. I have a 4y old rescue dog, Cassie, who is fairly high energy, but cannot take her to the dog park because she is protective of me. Usually in the evenings - even after a couple mile run - she is bounding around the house wanting someone to play with. I brought her to Rover Retreat Doggy Daycare for a half day (5 hours), and she has been peaceful on the couch for 24 hours. Even better, she seems to be a little less protective of me: when picking her up after her first day, she was sniffing the other dogs in the lobby while i was there, instead of staying by my side and growling at them. They also have flexible packages - I bought a 10-pack, which can be used for 20 half days, 10 full days, or a mix.Prices are totally worth a tired, well-socialized dog - $11 for half day, $22 for whole day. We have been coming here since it was called Rovers Retreat, so about 7 years now! My husband and I travel a lot and we are gone for long periods of time. I can honestly say that our pup, Chico, gets so excited when he knows he is going on his vacation. Laura and her team genuinely care for all of the dogs and I love that they aren't crated all day and get to socialize and play with other dogs. Chico always comes back to us exhausted but happy! We made the move up to Steamboat last year and had to try another dog boarding business for a short trip, but he didn't come back as happy so we now only use Rovers Play and Stay. My dog just had her leg amputated because of this place. Thanks a lot. Back in March, we decided to board our two dogs (Daisy and Pickles) at this location while our family was on vacation. We were hesitant because Daisy is very shy and weary of people she doesn't know, but had few other options. We took the dogs for a trial afternoon as recommended, and were assured they would be fine. When we dropped off the two dogs we explicitly told the woman that Daisy has been known to jump, but had never jumped a six foot fence as long as we have had her. The woman completely brushed off our comments, and assured us Daisy would be fine. So what happens? Daisy ends up escaping from Rover Retreat, and they half-heartedly search for her to no avail. Daisy was finally found a couple days later by animal control, but by then had managed to get caught up in a fence and break her leg. It is now June and Daisy just had to have her leg amputated all because of Rover Retreat's incompetence. They claim this whole incident was not they're fault, but I fail to see how that could possibly be the case. Their one job was to take care of my dog while I was away. That's it. And in order to take care of a dog one needs to maintain possession of said dog, and you know NOT lose it. The bills for Daisy's treatment have been extensive to say the least. Daisy will be okay, but this did not have to happen to her. It is so grossly unfair. I love this dog more than anything in the world, and she has undergone so much unnecessary pain and suffering because of Rover Retreat. Oh and not to mention, after losing Daisy they still charged us for Pickles. Nice. read more

The staff is friendly to me and that is great! However being nice to me and taking care of my dog are two separate issues. I requested a bath for him after his 4 day stay and was told that he wouldn't go into the tub. Okay I can deal with that so I took him from there to a dog wash and gave him a bath myself before taking him home. After getting home I noticed that he had lost weight and was skittish to my touch when I tried to pet him. He has not demonstrated this kind of behavior before. I don't know what has happened during his last stay but I am taking him to the vet and make sure he hasn't developed any health issues. It's taken a week for him to not flinch when I touch him. I can't say that his stay had negative repercussions on him but this is the only variance in his care, so given that I will no longer take him to this facility. Note: I am sure that a 10 paragraph response will follow but know that no one is allowed to go in the back or see where the dogs are kept outside and no tours etc. read more

We love Rover's along with the people that own this facility and work here. They are so accommodating and friendly. My dog Bowie was a little nervous when she started coming to Rover's but now it's like her home away from home and she gets really excited when we tell her she's going to 'Rover's'. I think their prices are fair and I really like the fact that Bowie can play inside or outside in large space and get a lot of exercise. I highly recommend it! read more

After trying out several other dog boarding places, we have finally found what we are looking for at rovers retreat. The staff is always very friendly and helpful and seems to genuinely care for and love dogs. One of my dogs is a picky eater and doesn't eat much when we are away, so the staff put some chicken broth on her food to encourage her to eat, which I thought was exceptionally caring and attentive. The staff always seems excited to see our dogs, remembers me when I call, and even notices when the dogs have had a haircut. Another thing I like about rovers retreat is that there is a large outdoor area and the door is open all day so that the dogs can nap in their crates, play with other dogs, or run around outside as they please. I definitely recommend rovers retreat! read more

Love this place! Wendy is the bee's knees. Our dogs Oscar and Ninja love going to "camp" (aka being kenneled) at Rover Retreat. They get lots of play time with friends and it's super affordable compared to other places in town. When they found out we were expecting, they let us know that we were welcome to drop off the dogs as soon as I was in labor...and, so we did! Not only were they able to take our two in on short notice, but they even gave them a complimentary bath before we picked them up! read more

Rover Retreat may not have the most impressive web site on the internet, but who cares? Dogs don't look at the internet! The staff at the Wheat Ridge location were extremely kind and helpful, and welcomed our two dogs with no advance notice just two days before Christmas. Our Min Pins had a great time and came home exhausted and happy. They fell asleep in the car on the way out of the parking lot! And the price was extremely reasonable!
