You know when you're in the mood for brunch but don't know where to go? That's exactly how my cousin and I ended up at Row House. It was my first time dining there, and my cousin had been before and said it was a good choice--so we went for a cute little summer brunch moment. As soon as we walked in, the vibe was bumping. They had a live band playing, people were up dancing, and the energy was really good. The live music does make it a little loud, but honestly, it added to the vibe. For drinks, I went with a white sangria, and my cousin had the spicy guava (I believe). I can't recall exactly what she ordered to eat--and for whatever reason, I didn't snap a picture--but I ordered the steak and eggs, sunny side up, with a side waffle because I wanted one... well, half a waffle. The steak and eggs came with a side salad and home fries. My steak was cooked to perfection--seasoned, juicy, and just right. The eggs were cooked beautifully, and I was definitely not unhappy. My friends and I visited Row House on Sunday for brunch. The restaurant is one block south of the B/C train stop on 116 St. & Frederick Douglas. Located in the heart of Harlem's restaurant row,the menu has a variety of mouth watering delights. From fan favorite chicken & waffles to salads, sandwiches, and shareable Row House has something for everyone. The bar had beers on tap, and bottles/cans as well as frozen drinks, wine, cocktails, punches and sangrias. There are also mocktails for those who do not want to partake in drinking. Our waitress was amazing. She listened to what people desired and suggested items for those who were unsure of what they wanted to eat. The atmosphere was beautiful, bright and inviting. Been to Row House a few times after work. The live DJs are always good. Service is hit or miss, but to be fair each time I've gone it's a party atmosphere so it's difficult to navigate. I walked thru Harlem today as I met up with my HBCU alumni association, for our year end meeting. We had our own private event space downstairs in the restaurant. It is a great space to meet and greet about 15 to 30 patrons with a bar. We then moved to the restaurant and were welcomed and ordered brunch. This soul food restaurant is a spot that focus on small plates, that you can share, I definitely liked the concept for a girls days out of for an alumni meeting. I enjoyed the crispy battered fish tacos with pico de gallo, salsa verde tacos, and hash browns. The hash browns took me back to breakfast in the South. They take traditional soul food dishes like mac and cheese and add lobster. Row House boasts a menu of seasonal cocktails, craft beer, and a respectable wine list. The Spicy Guava Jalapeno mixed Union Mezcal, Triple Sec, Guava Puree, Lime was on some spicy hypnotic taste. Loved it. Brunch is different up here, a LIVE deejay, music, drinks, dance, and good vibes. Row House compliments the history and culture of what we know as "Harlem." This place is loud and lively. I love this spot. The vibe is grown and sexy, so you won't see a bunch of teenagers and 20-somethings there. I've been there twice and there was a live DJ each time, playing good music. So people are definitely on their feet, dancing. I've tried a few of their dishes and enjoyed all of them. But my favorite thing of all is their Jamaican Rum Punch. It is delicious........and strong. If you're looking for a time to be had, head to Row House. Now walking in, they don't sit you u til your entire party arrives. No seats at the bar, ok cool. Once my friends arrived we were seated and the water was given. The food was really good. Those Brussel sprouts were really good. And to think I never like them lol. There is 2-for-1 drinks but only if you buy food. But the drinks are hittin. All we needed was 2. The people are standing up and dancing at their table and just having a great time. This was my first visit, I met a friend here for a meeting and I was so shocked I'd never been there before. The menu was very intriguing and I love that it had a good amount of variety for only one page. It was a Sunday evening and we got sat quickly, the waiter was super friendly and he made sure answer all of our questions about the menu in detail. I ordered the Braised Short ribs and they were amazing. The rum punch was well made and strong and the ambiance was very chill. This spot was interesting. First, it was packed with people on a Saturday afternoon. No standing room at the bar or even in front. It was impossible to grab a table without a reservation. It was truly a madhouse. Luckily for us, we had a reservation. Unfortunately, they sat us at a table for 4, and we were a party of 6. It was very tight in there. Thanks to all the people, the tables being on top of each other... just all around a busy place. The vibes were dope. It's more of a mature vibe i would say. The music was loud and bumping. It was a mixture of 90s and 00s R&B and hip hop. (I would've expected nothing less from Harlem lol). But where they lacked was the food... So as you can see below, these tacos were NOT worth the hefty price of $18! There was also nothing jerk about those small shrimp. The taco shell was just there. Not toasted or anything. The shrimp were covered in some kinda sauce which wasn't bad, (mayo based or something). It just wasn't at all what i expected. It would've been better with a mango salsa or something. The tacos were a 2.5/5. The wings were flavorless without the sauce. It's amazing how it's a soul food establishment and the food was this bland. Lowkey mid for real. Now them lemon drops were amazing! Each one i had was great. All in all, will i return... sure. I feel like i need to try them again. Maybe not for brunch. Dinner or just for happy hour if they have that. They have a cute space downstairs because the table limit is 2 hours. So after they suggest that people go downstairs. I was craving soul food while in Harlem. It was the weekend of the block party festival. I will be honest I was disappointed. The person who is outside that I spoke to was slightly rude so I went online to make the reservation because he gave me no insight whether there was a wait to get in. We got it immediately. It was really loud from the DJ and we were not happy with our meals. The coding on the chicken was dry and my husband's food was tasteless. Only my son's food tasted good though it was very small portion. He had shrimp and grits. I really wanted to love this place but it just wasn't in the cards this time. I do think it had to do with the amount of people so the service wasn't the same as what I've heard so I definitely will cut the venue some slack. It was a very busy day. read more

Came to Row House for a big graduation brunch with about 9 friends yesterday (Saturday) and from the start this place was so much fun. They had a dj who, in my opinion, nailed the vibes (but am not sure how often he's there). We decided to do bottomless brunch ($25 per person for 90 min of bottomless bellinis or mimosas) and the service was quick and the drinks kept flowing. Additionally, I ordered the truffle grilled cheese with bacon and fries ($18). I love truffle and this was easily one of the best versions of this sandwich I've ever had. I was living in the moment and forgot to snap pics, but I think that's testament to how much I enjoyed my time here. It's really a place that you come to for the vibes. read more

Came here for a birthday brunch. Happy to check this off place off my to-do list! I've been wanting to come for a while. I like that they have brunch day parties- and it's conveniently located. It's a woodsy homey feel - the staff and overall feel of the space is welcoming. I had Truffle Lobster Mac - I considered myself somewhat of a connoisseur having had it all over the city and out of state. This one would be a 3 out of 10. Why? It lacked the richness that I'm used to. I'm used to not being able to finish it because of how a nice truffle can overwhelm the palette if I eat too much. This one was of a "less quality". Truffle is supposed to be funky, a good funky of course but theirs was bland, unfortunately. Maybe it wasn't aged long enough. And I was concerned about the lobster as it really gave imitation crab meat. My GF had Truffle Fries and the Fish Tacos. She said her fries were underwhelming and cold and her tacos lacked flavor. Sips- now our Sips were nice. Shout out to the Mixologist! We had 2nds for drinks! The TVs make the space live and the ppl were vibing. Wanted an order to go to test it before taking out of towners. Was unable to place order on the phone. No one answered. Went to location. Ordered 3 items from the shareable section of the menu. Jamaican shrimp tacos, Maryland lump crab cake and truffle fries. The total was $52. TACOS ($17) 3 per order were plated with only 1 tortilla. Most tacos get a double corn tortilla because they fall apart otherwise. Nothing Jamaican detected. Shrimp is dwarflike and flavorless. No pico, no salsa. Crab cake ($20) was definitely not shareable. There was only 1? Thought maybe one fell out of the container. But no, just one basic Restaurant Depot frozen crab cake just warmed. Panko crusted usually indicates crispy texture. Mealy is a more appropriate description. Void of any intervention by the chef, it was bland. The truffle fries ($10) couldn't best Wendy's fries. The music was too loud. The crowd was the best thing about the space. Had to ask someone to take my order after standing at the bar unnoticed by the bartender for 5 minutes as he prepared the Happy Hour Punches. Probably the booze and DJ are the draw. I would not recommend for people who have discerning culinary tastes. Maybe a HH stop if that. read more

Found myself at Row House this past Valentine's/Galentine's night, on the suggestion of a cousin I was out with. We were looking for a place to chill, listen to music and shake off the funk of a really crap dining experience on the same block. Row House was it! We were able to walk in without a wait. Once we were inside, all of the tables were full or reserved so we just stood for a minute and took in the vibes. A young woman named DJ Miss Saigon was in an area at the rear of Row House, setting fire to the one's and two's. Every song that she tossed out was a jam and the atmosphere overall was just excellent. This is Harlem the unofficial fashion capital of NYC, so almost every patron was dressed to the nines for V-Day. So many fur coats and fur hats, looking great and having a blast. The music was great. Jorge, the main bartender, was very kind when most would be overwhelmed by all the drink orders. He was cool as ice though and moving like he was battery powered. Mohan, the really personable host at the door, promised us that he would keep an eye out for any table cancellations. We ended up snagging seats at the bar after awhile anyway. I had barely touched my food at the first place that we were at and the servers kept zipping past with such tasty looking food. I ordered an appetizer of lobster empanadas. They were tasty, crispy and lightly fried, served with a delicious dipping sauce. I ordered a tasty ginger beer based mocktail and then pineapple ginger beer mixes for the rest of the night. We were told that a party was starting downstairs but we didn't stay for it. I really enjoyed myself at Row House. It serves all the fun and fashion that you see and read about a Harlem experience, in 3D. I'll be sure to make reservations before the next time I go. The best part of this restaurant was the music. The DJ was turning out hit after hit, mostly blasts from the past. I definitely had a good time dancing in my seat. I ordered the short rib rigatoni mac & cheese and deviled eggs. The mac & cheese came out warm and cheesy, had a great flavor, but the short rib had a lot of fatty parts that I couldn't chew down. Now, the deviled eggs! The beet brined deviled eggs were absolutely delicious, topped with crispy shallots which added a nice texture. The service was pretty efficient, no complaints. We had a reservation for 1:30 pm on a Saturday which I would say is an ideal time if you want to avoid a big crowd. Food was surprisingly really good! I came here to celebrate a family member's 60th birthday and they have a special called martini Mondays where all martinis are $10 until 8pm. I ordered the meatballs and the rib rigatoni mac and cheese and both items as well as the martini's were very good. The music was also really good. I'd come again just for the food. read more

I was very disappointed with the overall experience. The biggest issue was the volume of the music. At least three guests in our party requested that the music be turned down, and our requests were completely ignored. This was supposed to be a birthday brunch, yet we spent most of the celebration shouting across the table just to have a simple conversation and catch up with family. For a 3:00 PM brunch, the atmosphere felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant, and unfortunately the sound system wasn't even good enough to justify the volume. The food was okay, but nothing memorable enough to make up for the uncomfortable environment. What should have been an enjoyable family gathering turned into a frustrating experience because meaningful conversation was nearly impossible. If you're looking for a place to eat, talk, and celebrate with family or friends, be aware that the music may overpower the entire experience. read more

It's an all inclusive, non judgemental, party in your seat. If you're not shy, there is a dance floor. DJ is very engaging and plays music for everyone. The drinks are not skimpy with the alcohol. Row House is a great little comfort food spot. I had dropped into this place once before for drinks with a friends and decided to check out the food during my visit this last Friday. Made a last minute reservation for my friend and I for dinner and I definitely was not disappointed. Everything was great from the service to the food. My friend and I decided to share some of the appetizers on the menu: - deviled eggs (really great flavor and I loved that the eggs were beet brined) - fried okra (these were good but not the best, more batter would have made them great) - Mac and cheese (total show stopper! So creamy and delicious) - hand cut fries (the fries are a must! Super crispy just how I like them) - mashed potatoes (smooth and delicious, and everything you want out of mashed potatoes) The server was on point and constantly checked in and refilled the water glasses when they were running low. This place is an ongoing shitshow of nonsense. The music is LOUD, it's like being in a club with posers and wannabes. The food is ok but the atmosphere is a total turnoff, I could barely smell the food for the INTENSE cologne/perfume on the guests. Wearing the entire bottle really isn't necessary, maybe a shower would be better. There is often some spillage of a party onto the sidewalk, people with their own booze (this seems to be the Henny/Coke, Henny/Cranberry Juice crowd)-where this ridiculous idea came from is beyond be. Since when do people put Coke or cranberry juice in cognac????? We passed the place yesterday and I've never seen such a mess in my life, people drinking in the street and on the sidewalk, LOUD music and the stench or weed everywhere. Walked past today and the garbage on the sidewalk and at the curb is disgusting. Is this the legal obligation of Row House to clean it, probably not, but it sure-as-shit is their MORAL obligation. It looks like someone emptied garbage cans at the curb on both sides of the restaurant. Empty Hennessy, Patron and Don Julio bottles everywhere, plastic cups and mini-juice bottles. So this is also the crowd that buys their booze at home and then pulls-up to a public place to party but not spend $1 inside the establishment... This is our second visit for brunch after Church and we are very disappointed. The service is great, the atmosphere is nice but the food has a lot to be desired. The French toast is just bread with a sprinkle of cinnamon and hard. The butter frozen. The shrimp and grits were not prepared last week so we though it was a must have this week. That was a mistake. If you can't get a resy at blvd then Rowhouse is a great alternative. Went here for Valentine's Day after having horrible food at Melba's. The music was on point. Crowd was mixed with old school Harlem and younger peeps. Drinks were great. Dj was on point I came here again afterwork for dinner. I had the burger ( just wanted something basic) but it was still good. My burger was well done and I asked for medium well. They had no problem re doing it with a new plate of fries as well. The wings were on point. It definitely gets crowded fast so glad we had a resy. Music was good and dj was just coming in. This will always be a go to spot of mine in harlem. read more

Good party for my friend it was her Birthday. I'd been trying to get to this place all summer just so happened she had her Birthday Party there. There was supper parties going on at the same time. The bathroom was a mess. One of them wasn't working. I believe that they are three. The food looks really good. I didn't eat anything but she had a meal. The music was fantastic Dj tall guy played he plays there I think every week the dance floor is not that big but you can't get up and dance a little bit and there are two sides to this place.
