I'm surprised I've never written a review for this place considering how often I come here. It's easily one of my favorite neighborhood spots in Harlem. The vibe is chill, relaxed, and very neighborhood-friendly. Even when it's busy, it never feels overwhelming, and they're usually very accommodating with walk-ins. The service is also some of the best I've experienced in Harlem. My go-to is the roasted duck, which is consistently excellent. It's cooked medium to medium-rare and comes with mango, onions, vegetables, and greens. Easily one of my favorite dishes in the neighborhood. The drinks are great too. I recently had the Nas, their take on a Manhattan, and it was incredibly smooth--one of the best whiskey cocktails I've had in a while. Overall, 10/10. Came in for NY Restaurant week! Ordered the Sage Knees and the Crime of Passion for our drinks (both were enjoyed). We both had Brussel Sprouts, good, but the bites without the sauce did taste like bland Brussel sprouts. I had the lamb ribs, very good. They do warn you before that the ribs have a bit of fat on them, I think in the context of NY restaurant week I'm happy to pay it but as a solo entree, the amount of fat vs meat would have annoyed me. My friend had the duck, she enjoyed it. But it is very much salad with a side of duck, I believe she had 6 pieces of duck (pictured) and then a mango, arugula and onion salad. Dessert was very good, but I do hope those are not the usual portion sizes and maybe they just served smaller for NY restaurant week. Loved the service, but felt the food was a miss. We had the French toast, hot chicken sandwich, and the burger. The French toast has a tangy flavor due to turmeric, the orange marmalade they include helped to sweeten it, but it just felt like a lot of work for a dish that would have been better served the traditional way. The hot chicken sandwich was pretty good, but we've had better. The burger was just OK. They don't have American or cheddar and only serve it with queso. From the second you walk into archer & Goat, you know you're in for an incredible treat. The restaurant itself is incredibly small, but there is outdoor covered seating that's heated. The menu changes in a spectacular. Everything ordered was delicious. I wasn't super hungry to order the roasted cauliflower and could have eaten two more plates. Got the prix menu, it was absolutely what I was looking for. I got the corn and coconut soup, the favors were well balanced, I absolutely loved the fried onions and some pickled red peppers that were a lovely touch to the sweetness and savory. Then I had carne asada with tostones, I will be coming back for this. Perfect! Sure I did not choose the medium rare as the chef suggests but medium was more than fine, the arugula with steak is always a favorite, but that mojito with the tostones was truly perfection! At least in my opinion. I got the date cake, it took longer than I anticipated, and honestly... too sweet. The orange garnish was a great addition but I kept feeling like there should have been more to cut the sweetness. Nevertheless, that won't keep me from coming back. A good friend was DJ'ing at this Central Harlem spot and I headed over to check him out. Great music throughout the evening. I sat at the bar and was warmly greeted by Leia, an excellent and personable bartender. As I have many years behind the stick I was impressed with her handling of the busy bar and the many speciality drinks. I ordered a cocktail featuring pressed watermelon and mezcal. I then ordered the mushroom arepas, was given the "nice choice" and nod by Leia and they were indeed delicious. As more familiar faces arrived to hear music and enjoy the evening, the kitchen was putting out nice looking dishes. Other patrons were served the lamb ribs and a steak with plantains around me and seemed pleased with their choices. I had a really nice Lambrusco as I winded down. The place is clearly well run, busy and drew a nice crowd. Heading back this week for a proper dinner. Looking forward to trying more of the menu. read more

Found this spot on a rainy day in Ny. It was cozy and friendly inside. I will say it's hard to find but it's worth finding. Signage outside is hidden. Now for the food. We ordered the spice French toast and the hot chicken sandwich. The French toast was a delightful bite of fall. The flavors blended well and the crunch from the pistachios were a great addition. The hit chicken sandwich with pickled strawberries was surprisingly delicious. The chicken was a hot buffalo masterpiece. Nice and juicy with just the right amount of heat. I will say the pickled strawberries left a weird but good taste in my mouth. Indescribable but good. And the shoestring French fries were nice and crispy. We had the Brussels sprouts as a starter and they have a decent amount of garlic, but the Chimichurri is the star. Also ordered the curry shrimp with Tumeric rice and salad entree. I've heard about this restaurant for several years and was excited to finally give it a try. They offer a very eclectic mix of Latin American and Asian food. We sat in the garden in the back, which had about a half dozen tables, with a brick building and ivy covered gate accenting one side. We were there during NYC restaurant week, which they generously offer on the weekends, while most restaurants just participate on week days. To start, I had the crispy brussel sprouts. It was an ample portion size. The sprouts were crunchy and well seasoned. The accompanying cilantro sauce was tasty, but a bit too salty. Still, I really enjoyed the texture and flavors. For my main, I had the portobello mushroom asada. I loved that they offered a vegetarian version of this classic dish. Even the waitress remarked how much the mushrooms looked like steak. It was delicious. The mushrooms were juicy and plump. The tostones were thin, crispy, and well-seasoned with salt and pepper. The citrus vinaigrette was quite tangy, so I'm glad it was mostly served on the side. For dessert, I had the tres leches panna cotta. It had the consistency of pudding and was topped with candied pistachios. I didn't care too much for the texture, but some might enjoy it, especially because it was subtlety sweet. This is a lovely little spot in the heart of Harlem. We were seated in the back, which was a little cramped, but the place was warm and welcoming. I ordered the Carne Asada, which consisted of hanger steak, crispy tostones, arugula, and avocado vinaigrette. The steak was tender, with a slight crunch on the outside, and well seasoned. The Tostones were thin, wonderfully crispy, and lightly salted. Sauce was surprisingly good, given that I'm not a fan of avocado and packed a lot of flavor. For dessert, I had the Warm Date Cake, which was served with warm bourbon caramel sauce and crème fraiche. This was absolutely delicious! The cake was sweet, moist, with an irresistible sticky consistency, as well as full of date flavor. The caramel sauce was delightful, as was the smooth, rich creme. I adore Harlem. Several years ago, I started my NYC journey here, and all this time later, even when I stray to the LES or the East Village . . . when I really want to feel the soul of New York, I find my way back to Harlem. I was back on this side of town for a jazz show (reviewed separately) and Archer & Goat caught my eye. First of all, I remain completely forlorn that I didn't realize they closed at 9 PM and made a reservation for 8:30 PM. Secondly, despite my multiple apologies, the laid back staff continually told me to relax, chill, to enjoy my meal. As we've said many times before, "spread love, it's the Harlem way." I had the prix fixe menu ($45). The crispy Brussels sprouts were AMAZING! Made with cilantro, chimichurri, and pickled chilis, it was delicious. Maybe some of the best Brussels sprouts I've ever had . . . with an amazing combo of char and spice. I also had the langostino & saffron pappardelle. Please google ingredients beforehand, because I found out that langostino is a tiny form of lobster. Fine for me, but for those with shellfish allergies, could be a disaster! Though I am not a shellfish fan (it just doesn't have flavor for me), I loved the saffron flavor of the pappardelle and enjoyed this decadent pasta dish! I also had the tres leches panna cotta. Made with coconut milk, condensed mile, whole milk, rose water, and candied pistachios--it was light, yet somehow decadent, and easy. I can't wait to visit this spot again, more toward mid-day so I can spend a long European-type lunch/brunch/early dinner time here. They have so may delectable dishes I can't wait to try: arugula salad, grilled cauliflower, chicken vindaloo arepas, portobello mushroom arepas, and a brunch menu. Their drink menu is delightful. I had the knickerbocker: rum, raspberry, lime, orgeat. I also had the "Crime of Passion," tequila, Chinola, passion fruit liqueur, and orgeat. Goat: Tequila, orange, lime, turmeric. Such a great mixup of earthy, herbaceous, refreshing, gently fruity without being lipsmackingly sweet. It's an exceptional establishment, one that you would expect from a restaurant. My wife and I visited on a Sunday late afternoon and we sat in the garden section. They have outdoor seating in front as well as the garden. Make reservations regardless. We were greeted as if we were VIP and that service kept up throughout our dinner. Prices are reasonable. I have been here twice now and it is a cute little spot. The staff is really nice and it has a great vibe/ambiance. They have unique items on the menu and the plantain chips are delicious. The downside? A relatively small menu, especially brunch, so if you are a picky eater, you may have trouble finding something you want to eat. The spot is cozy so if you have a larger party it may not be for you. However, it has an outdoor seating area that is pretty big and really nice. And at these prices it should be excellent. Or at least really good. I had the lamb hash for brunch. Everyone tried it and thought it was meh. I figured I'd still get the yummy lamb taste regardless of whether the meat was shredded. I was wrong. It would probably be better as a "pulled lamb sandwich." The brussel sprouts were really good. The staff were very friendly and accommodating when I visited with some friends for brunch on a weekend. Its not a super long menu but all the drinks felt well curated and made. The drink sizes are quite small though. They also have a $25 bottomless mimosas option for Brunch. The food menu was really appetizing it was hard to choose something to eat. A mix of Bangladeshi and Latin food is not something I knew I needed, but I am a fan bow. We had a great time celebrating my friends birthday with brunch here! The food is an unique fusion of Latin American and South Asian (Indian). They had very innovative dishes. We enjoyed the spicy chickpea side and plantain chips and dips for Apps! The mint mojo sauce and panch phoran Mayo are incredible condiments!!! The waiters were very hospitable and friendly, and since our mains were taking time, they brought us the crispy Brussels sprouts (the cilantro chimmichurri is delicious) and roasted duck (the mango and onion curtido was amazing!!) on the house. My husband and I tried the fried chicken sandwich and the veggie breakfast arepas! Both dishes are really well done and the sauces are amazing. Hats off to the chefs on creating the veggie arepas dish, the cauliflower (roasted well with turmeric), shishito peppers, medium poached eggs and cilantro hollandaise was a spot on combo. Just wished the arepa bread itself wasn't so tough to cut through. However the dish as a whole was so well thought out.
