On my way home I noticed the time and thought I would pop in to ask for an estimate appointment. I entered the office to owner Joe & told him what I would be requesting. Joe kindly suggested we step outside and estimate the damage. I showed him the few small defects; he noted that the headlight placement had been damaged and that likely all repairs would be roughly $2100. I asked if they did loaner cars during the repair? They do not, but if it's the other persons insurance they should allow a rental car. I discussed the "Selected Service Shops" the insurance had suggested. He stated that those places are usually commission based and that Wayne-Val is just him, his wife & brother-in-law compared to larger shops that are 20+ associates. I feel confident in leaving my vehicle w Wayne-Val and will do another yelp/update this one once I have actually had my vehicle repaired. I appreciated that Joe quoted me a realistic 19 February as what I'd be looking at for a service date. I mostly appreciated that Joe told me some of the questions that the insurance may ask, such as: do I approve used parts? He said I don't have to say yes and he wouldn't recommend used parts and it could only save insurance a couple hundred dollars. I found out that Newport Collision Center has new ownership and the business has changed. I was given a quote for the work and we agreed on a date to bring the car in. After I dropped may car off I got a call a few days later that the owner was not happy with the quote and wanted to charge more. I agreed to the new price and when I went to pick up my car, not all of the work was done. Some of what was worked on did not look good. I went to pick the car 3 times and found that what we agreed to was not done. They did not complete the work even after I agreed to a requote. I had 3 other jobs done here under the old ownership and the work was flawless.

They are amazing professionals who know what they are doing. One of our repairs was to repair vandalism that resulted in damage to the front roof pillar. They took the time to repair the damage and maintain the structural integrity, and when they painted it they blended it seamlessly. When another vehicle had damage to the liftgate, their work was just as stellar. Being in a particularly brutal part of the car for Minnesota conditions, there was an issue with the repair. I walked in, chatted with their Estimator and showed him the problem. Will was wonderful to deal with, and to my utter surprise they performed warranty work without any hassles. My bank scheduled me for an inspection after a collision. I asked and confirmed that: 1) I would not pay anything for the inspection at time of pickup, and that 2) I would not have to repair my vehicle with the same company that completed the inspection. (I have a local mechanic I trust already.) Then I receive a form from Caliber Collision requiring (quote): AUTHORIZATION TO REPAIR. (Required field) I hereby authorize Caliber Collision to complete the necessary repairs to my vehicle. I understand that payment in full will be due upon release of the vehicle, including any supplement charges. AUTHORIZATION TO DISASSEMBLE. (Required field) I understand I may be charged for disassembly, reassembly and/or partially completed work, based on Caliber's normal hourly labor rate. POWER OF ATTORNEY. (Required field) I hereby appoint Caliber Collision and its authorized employees to be my attorney-in-fact to sign my name on any check or draft covering repairs to my vehicle and to negotiate any such check or draft. So to get inspected, you have to: 1) immediately pay for all work related to the inspection including vehicle disassembly, 2) pay to have the vehicle fully repaired on-site, and 3) grant Caliber Collision power of attorney. Oof. Just a heads up for anyone looking to have an insurance inspection done here.
