Wow, what did not go perfectly! I went two friends to Boston after dropping rental cars but way before our flights. We wanted to have lunch in The North End and walk The Freedom Trail for part. Water taxi picked us up at the dock at Logan took us to Rowe's Wharf. Locked up our luggage and kept secure. We came back 4 hrs later and returned to Logan and took the airport bus to our terminal. Boston Water Taxi provides a great service! We got off the cruise ship about 9:30am and we didn't need to be at the airport until 4:30pm. We walked a short distance to the water taxi stop, waited another very short bit for the taxi that comes on the hour, then got to go for a ride on the bay (it was a gorgeous day) to downtown, where Boston Water Taxi stored our luggage for the day, and we got to walk some of the Freedom Trail and eat lunch in Little Italy. We caught the water taxi back at Rowe's Wharf and they took us and our luggage across the bay to the airport bus pickup area near the hotel. Easy peasy - no traffic to deal with. Great staff! I was in Boston for a few days and when it was time to figure how to get to the airport for my flight home, I did some research on transportation options. I would be heading to the airport right in the middle of evening rush hour, and I didn't like the idea of sitting in honking, slow moving traffic for an hour or more. I found the Boston Water Taxi and decided it would be much better to take a boat ride! No traffic, scenic views, and only 15 minutes across the harbor with a free shuttle from the dock to the terminal. The water taxi was early to pick me up from the Aquarium dock, which was easy to find thanks to the great directions on the water taxi website, and the boat captain was friendly and helpful. In a very short time I was at the airport dock, where the shuttle was waiting, and I then I was at the terminal. I will definitely use the water taxi again when I'm back in Boston. read more

My wife and I were travelling with elderly parents, celebrating 60 years of marriage...one needing mobility assistance while the other, more focused than a cat stalking a bird. Thankfully, the water taxi is just a short walk to the end of the pier, where we meet Captain Ryan. It's raining...blowing...and chilly, now add the waves, wind and misting effect! Capt. Ryan slows, pulls more curtains to block the elements and points the vessel into the wave, minimizing the rocking. We dock with very cold elderly parents and Capt Ryan makes suggestions for hot coffee, soup and getting out off the weather until we make the 2nd journey to the airport. Our luggage was secured and kept handy for the 2nd journey to the airport. We are all loaded and waiting for 2 more passengers...but time came and we needed to push off. We are airport bound but, Capt Ryan caught a glimpse of the missing passengers and turns around. It was the level of professionalism shown and the dedication of providing the best customer experience possible. Next time in Boston, we will have Rowes Wharf on speed dial. read more

If you've got time to get to the airport and want to take a boat road, Rowes Wharf Water Transport is the way to do it. It took me about 1 hour from getting to the wharf with no prior reservation, calling the # to get to the airport and it cost $12. If you make a reservation ahead of time, you could probably be there sooner. She was quick though and showed up within 15 minutes of me calling. The water taxi is "on call," so you do need to call and make a reservation to get there. It's a quick 15minute ride across the water and it pulls up to a stop which is served by the airport bus and will then take you to a terminal. I took a stroll from my hotel on Newbury St to the Water Transport to take a bit more of the city sights in and I was glad that this service was available to take me to the airport. If you're not in a huge time crunch, or there is crazy rush hour traffic; it's definitely the way to go. read more

The staff go out of their way to help the customer - even a group of four (from Texas, one guy, three women) from which the guy wouldn't lift a finger to help put four heavy suitcases into the boat. The morning ride to the city was great but in the afternoon a storm had started rolling in. This was a great way to see Boston without having to lug my suitcase around! I flew into Logan on a redeye but had to wait on other members of my travel group to get in later in the day. I found this service and was sold when I realized that they would store my luggage while I explored the city! I bought my ticket online and then took the airport shuttle 66 to the water taxi dock. There are other companies that also pick up there but I called to let them know I was at the dock and minutes later my ride showed up! I loved the view of the city from the boat and I didn't even try to hide how much fun I was having on the short boat ride across the harbor. They brought my suitcase to their offices and later when I was done exploring I was able to ride back to the airport with my luggage. It was all very seamless and I would definitely recommend taking the water taxi and using their luggage storage! Of note, it took about 45 minutes to get from their office at the docks back to the main airport terminal due to having to wait for the shuttle so make sure to leave plenty of time! read more

We took the water taxi cruise special for $50 a person for a simple but important reason. We were off the cruise ship at 9:00 am and did not have a return flight until 6:45 pm from Boston to SF. There is no luggage storage at the Boston Cruise Terminal or Logan, so without a place to put our luggage for 8 hours, we were in a difficult position. Roses Wharf transport was the perfect solution. Located less than 10 minutes from the cruise terminal next to the police boats, we (both in our seventies) walked our suitcases to the dock on a flat path, were met there by a water taxi driver, who tagged our luggage for storage in their office to be picked up later in the day and took us to Rowes Wharf, in the center of Boston. We had a fantastic day in Boston, returned at 4:00 pm at Roses Wharf, picked up our luggage and were transported to Logan Airport without any problems. You are dropped off at the shuttle stop which runs every 10-15 minutes and soon after being dropped off by the water taxi, we were on the bus to Terminal A where we checked in for our Delta flight. It was seamless operation from the start to the finish. The office at Rowes Wharf had bathrooms, maps and even Halloween candy out for customers! When I planned my trip to Boston, I opted to save some money by staying in a suburban hotel. I booked an evening flight home, and thought nothing of it... Until I was mid-way through my vacation and realized I would need to drag my cumbersome backpack and roller bag around with me from check-out to flight time. Most internet forums suggested taking the bag to the Amtrak or Grayhound station... Others said just leave a generous tip to one of the downtown bellmen to watch your stuff. These options didn't appeal to me, and I didn't want to chance losing my stuff. Then I heard about Rowe's Wharf Water Transport. Not only do they offer a scenic trip to Logan, but they will also look after your bags... and just for $20. They have special offers for round-trip fares (for extended lay-overs) and cruise travelers as well. Now the website is a bit vague, so let me breakdown the luggage process for you... 1. Get to Rowe's Wharf Water Transport ticket counter. It is located just behind the Boston Harbor Hotel. Just walk through the arch, stay right, and walk down the steps/ramp along the side of the building. It's in an office with three other cruise lines. It's a short walk from South Station. 2. Wait in line with your luggage. Let the ticket-taker (usually the owner) know that you need the water taxi to Logan with luggage storage. Tell him what time you need to be at the airport, and he'll let you know what time to return. Usually, they recommend an hour before you need to be at the airport... This is to cover the water taxi trip and waiting for the Logan shuttle to take you to the terminal. The fee for one-way fare + luggage storage is $20. 3. Take your luggage to the storage area, just around the corner of the ticket counter. There is also a bathroom nearby. 4. So go sightsee and rest assured that your bags are being safely housed. The water taxi is within walking distance of the aquarium, Quincy Market, many Freedom Trail sites, and near some of the "T" lines. 5. Return 10-15 minutes before your water taxi departure. Proceed to the luggage room and let them know you are picking up your bags. 6. Confirm with the person in the office that the water taxi will pick you up at the time you need and where to wait (usually along the dock behind the Boston Harbor Hotel). If not, you may call the captain directly using the phone number on the website. 7. Enjoy the short, but scenic, trip back to the airport. Other important information: -The bag storage fee, to my own observation, was a flat-rate (per person) no matter how many bags were checked. These call the water taxi for Boston Harbor Cruises, which is a separate company from Rowe's Wharf Transport. If you need to hail a water taxi from Rowe's, use the "captain's number" listed on their website. -To take advantage of the bag storage service, you must visit the Rowe's Wharf ticket counter. You can't just leave your bags with the captain. -The cost of the water taxi (with bag storage) is comparable to that of an Uber/Lyft fare from downtown to the airport. Taking a bus/subway maybe cheaper... but why haul your bags everywhere?! -Everyone was friendly and helpful. Yes, they may be a little blunt or sarcastic, but that's Boston. Overall, I was thrilled with the service and the fact that I didn't have to haul my stuff around, or try using the 'package express' service at the sketchy Greyhound station. We used this service to get to Battery Wharf Hotel. I recall reading that this water taxi service was a great option to reach the hotel. The only problem is getting from BOS luggage claim to the right bus (#66) to get to the dock. I called Rowe's Wharf Water service to ask for directions to get to the dock, and you would've thought I was asking a strange question. The answer I got was curt, hard to understand, and not useful at all. I asked a #22 bus driver, at the bus platform, and he was even less help! BOS has NO signage for Bus #66, until you walk up onto it! There is no signage at the airport to lead you to the Water Taxi service or Logan Dock. Once we did make it to the dock, we were extremely lucky not to be carrying huge & heavy luggage pieces! Tracking down the ramp with what we did have was enough 'fun'! I do have to say that the driver was exceptional! She was inviting and talkative! The harbor views were of course beautiful! But once we arrived at the hotel, we had to trek our luggage up a ramp, thank goodness they weren't super heavy bags. It would've been easier by taxi or Uber! The website for this business is a bit deceiving. I think the pics of the boats on the website are really old?? And the price per passenger is not clear either! read more

Did they do what they were supposed to (get me safely across the water)? Yes. It was also a gorgeous trip (although let's face it -- that's the scenery and not the boat). However, they took an incredibly long time to pick us up (despite the fact I called while on the shuttle bus and once we arrived to the pick-up spot). Three other taxis from a different company arrived and departed while we waited. Then, we had to wait for another reservation and two more impromptu groups. The entire "trip" took over an hour, simply because we spent so long waiting. The staff was efficient (once we got going), and we appreciated the luggage storage, so it wasn't a horrible experience. But the very long wait time (and we'll over what was promised) means this was definitely 'meh' at best. read more

And even if you have cruised the Harbor in your own fancy yacht, this is surprisingly easy and efficient. Not to mention fun. You can make a reservation, buy your tickets on line or just give them a call. Ten dollars a person one way between the airport and any spot downtown. Seventeen dollars round trip. And they have an all day pass for twenty five dollars. You can also go to the Constitution and the Harbor Islands, but the fee structure is different- call the captain for the details. Cash only. Plenty of seats and a heavy duty plastic screen to keep the water away from your fancy outfit, but some nice big "port holes" to look through. And they get you where you want to go anywhere along the waterfront. I am going to look for plenty of opportunities to use Rowes Wharf Water Taxi this summer. Great discovery. read more

I followed directions - waited a long time for bus 66 (it runs ever 24 minutes not every 10 per website) and called the taxi once on the bus. I got a recording that the taxi wasn't running due to weather. It had rained earlier in the day but was only overcast with a light wind when I arrived. What weather? I took a cab. This is a review for the harbor tour itself, not for the taxi. Yes they do offer tours in their tiny boats for up to 6 people and I think that for a group outing (if it wasn't $39 per person) would be a great outing for a group. They even take trips out to the harbor islands too! We had a 90 minute harbor and charles river tour which was definitely relaxing, but for $39 per person (thankfully we had a groupon) I don't think it was really worth that much. We could have learned a little more, etc. but it was still pretty enjoyable and soothing. I just wish I had a mimosa on board or something like that! Oh and they don't exactly run on time all the time either, so just be aware of that. But if you are looking for a nice trip out on the water that is pretty much stress free this is definitely the outing for you! Plus on the river tour you get to go in a boat elevator! Yup the locks! Love it! I was searching for luggage storage and hit the jackpot. I was only in Boston for about 15 hours before my flight. I took the airport shuttle to any terminal and went downstairs to ARRIVALS. I took #66 to water taxi terminal. They happened to be there to pick me up with my luggage. $30RT with luggage storage. It was a 15 minute hop to town and I had to tell them what time I wanted to go back to airport. It was awesome. Next time I would have stayed at the Marriott at the dock at the airport. Would have been great if the ticket counter person didn't tell me it would take 30 minutes to get from the taxi to the airport terminal. It actually took an hour and I missed check in cutoff for my flight and was stuck in Boston another day. Be honest about transit times! The taxi was 10 minutes but there is a bus that runs only ever 25 min that takes you from the dock to the terminal and it takes 20 minutes to get you to the terminal when it shows up. read more

I'd never been to Boston before but was only going to be in the city for the day before heading to Wellesley. I read on a few websites that Rowes does luggage storage so I figured I'd take a water taxi instead of the subway into Boston from Logan. Rowes' website suggests calling once you're on the 66 bus to reserve a seat so I did just that. Brian was waiting at the dock and the whole (lovely) taxi ride took less than 7 minutes. Although Rowes normally just does luggage storage for folks heading back to Logan, Brian offered to store mine for the afternoon AND he carried my big ass backpack all the way to their office. Two stars because once we actually got on the boat, the captain was friendly and apologetic. We prepaid for tickets on line because we were arriving early and didn't want to have to deal with payments I also verified with the owner the age at which a passenger needed a ticket and was told everyone over the age of 1 needed a full price ticket. So $80 later, we had tickets and luggage storage for four, including our 10 year old. We arrived at 5:45 am and killed time until the water taxi started running at 7am. During that time, we read a posted sign for Rowes water taxi and it stated that every passenger under 12 rode free with a paying adult. Sweet. We just got ripped off $20. At 7 am we called the captain and received no answer. We called the captain several times, and finally the office and were told that they don't actually have boats running at 7am, that they need to fill up on fuel, etc, and THEN they start running passengers. Finally, at 7:35, we spoke to the captain who arrived at 7:45 to pick us up. During that time, about 4 Boston harbor cruise water taxis came and went. read more
