What if its just my boyfriend and I? lol No huge group, but I'm super interested in this tour!

When I participated in this tour it was a part of my work group. We had about 22 people in total. However I am sure that there is a minimum limit to when they would go. I would suggest you call them to see what that threshold is. It's really really… Read more

We enjoyed our Boston Duck Tour earlier this month and the tour itself was amazing. Our narrator…read more(The detective?) and the driver were fantastic and our whole family was laughing the entire time. When I took my kids on the tour in 2019, I was so impressed with the professionalism of the attendants who help out beforehand. They were all wearing khakis, had their shirts tucked in, and there were no phones in sight. I remember one lovely young man who was wearing a Vineyard Vines belt and my son was obsessed with it, and he graciously told me what the print was called and I was able to purchase it for him for Christmas that year. This time around, it was shocking to me how opposite our experience was pre-tour. I recall in 2019 receiving a warm welcome walking up to the boarding location, but not this time. They were all huddled in a pile by the umbrella, and no one greeted us. I approached an employee who identified himself as a driver and instead pointed me to an attendant who could "better assist". When I asked which boat to board, we were rudely told to "Just wait here until we announce it", which felt like a big departure from the friendliness of a few years ago. The attendants themselves just looked messy, and it seems the standards went down significantly. We had so much fun on the tour itself, but the end to end of an experience is really what makes or breaks it, and the bad customer service before boarding left a sour taste in our mouths.

Turns out the Duck Tours were tours in semi-aquatic buses that mix history, jokes, and sightseeing. We also got to go into the water and folks took turns driving the duck boat. What was delightful about our tour was our captain who entertained us with magic tricks, punny jokes, dad jokes, and history. We quacked at passerbys, other duck tours, recent graduates, kids in hi-vis vests. He pointed out the marines organized in a park with the Osprey and other planes. I left my knowledge of American history in elementary school, so everything was super fascinating to me. I thought my honey would enjoy this being a historian and all but he didn't care for the jokes, which I thought were the best part. Oh well. Worth a tour when you're in the Boston area!

We walked outside and saw people getting off the duck tour boat around the corner. We asked a couple what they thought and they said listen it's pricey but DO IT! We had so much fun- and I could tell by their faces that they did. I've done it once before along time ago with my mom so I didn't really remember too much. And it was at the different location. But my fiancé had never experienced it and since I forgot about it we opted to do it, and I am beyond happy we did it, he wanted to drive to boat and was scared to raise his hand so I raised it for him, he was the last driver that day and he got to drive it pretty far. Needless to say he enjoyed it so much. I'm so glad we did it. We had the Skydiver he was funny and pretty cool. You get a lot of information about Boston, and then wham you go from land to sea- creepy but cool. It was kind of chilly that day, but we enjoyed yourselves. A nice tour for sure!

At 9:30 am the kiosk to buy tickets was open. However, if you already purchased tickets on line, you check in around the corner by the gigantic dinosaur under the black Boston Duck Tours umbrella. Captain Kim manned the Duck vehicle except for part of the tour on the Charles River when customer Katia from Texas volunteered to steer up and down the river. Ben, narrator shared info of how the history we learned in school was totally wrong. Who we thought were responsible for the Declaration of Independence were corrupt, spread propaganda about the Boston Massacre which started as an accidental rifle shot went off and to cover up lives were lost in the confusion. They names we thought were great men were actually planners of the Boston Tea Party. He even dispelled the story of Paul Revere riding through the streets shouting the British are coming... that shattered how history was portrayed and actually was a sham. Ben did point out The Union Oyster House where we chose to have lunch at after the duck tour. He also shared tidbits about Leonard Nimoy, where Kennedy used as a permanent address and how Adam Sandler is a regular whenever he visits Boston.

To enter the tea room, you have to go through the gift shop and exit the door on the left to walk down the ramp to Abigail's Tea room. Once you arrive you can go to the counter to order a meal (salads, sandwiches), or snacks like cookies, brownies or scones. There is an option to taste 5 different types of teas that were aboard the ships (and were eventually dumped into the water). You can opt for a cup ($5), Souvenir mug for $10.95, or a tea platter ($20) which includes a pot of tea and two scones and it says it serves up to 4 people. I opted for the $5 cup since it's unlimited refills. The tea shop has a big dining area with a view of the ships and the wharf. The 5 tea offerings included: *Young Hyson - "Early spring green tea typically picked before the end of April" *Singlo - " Chinese green tea varieties picked later in the season than early spring Hyson" *Bohea - "Black tea from one of the oldest and most famous tea growing areas of china, the Wuyi Mountains." *Congou - "a black tea, refers to a tea made with the highest mastery or artful skill to produce thin, light strips without breaking the leaves" *Souchong - "a classic black tea from the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian province in China with a very distinctive smoky aroma" I thought most of the teas were good, my favorite being the Congou, but the Souchong was not my favorite due to the smoky flavor. The gift shop was fun and full of neat souvenirs like teas, teapots, general Boston kitschy items, and things for the 250th anniversary of America. Well worth the visit if you are in the area!
