We had a last minute decision to stay overnight while visiting our daughter in college and this hotel was the perfect accommodation. We actually ended up staying there for two nights. The hotel being right in the heart of downtown Salem everything was in walking distance. The rooms are very nice, clean and spacious. We had our dog Chispa with us and the staff there gave her so much love she didn't want to leave. I would highly recommend this hotel and this will be the only hotel we will stay at in the area. Oh and they serve Lavazza coffee! huge plus! We regularly stay here, and it is always fabulous! This time, we stayed in the Rowland Suite, and it is my favorite room so far! It has a balcony, which is always something I really enjoy. I love the showers in each of the rooms with the rainfall shower heads, but this room also had a wonderful bath tub! After soaking in that, I felt like I had just walked out of the spa! This hotel is so elegant, the staff is wonderful and every room is well appointed with a Lavazza coffee/espresso machine, a mini fridge and complementary waters. I also love that the "lobby" has extra waters, juices, yogurts, fruit and breakfast bars available to guests 24/7. Perfection! read more

Should be 5 stars, warm greeting at check in, absolutely wonderful room, so many extras. The bathroom has a walk in shower with toilet in one part, a double sink behind the door. The worst shortcoming is the parking. Their lot is down the street and there is no valet. And it's a very weird lot, only certain spots available, hard to read the numbers. It just doesn't fit with a higher end hotel. read more

Always a great night sleep. The rooms are immaculate, good size, quiet, well decorated, and the beds are soft and comfortable. The staff has always been welcoming and easy to deal with. One of the best parts is the Henry Rowland Steakhouse is steps away from the elevator. Enjoy amazing food, a cocktail and then up to your room for a wonderful nights sleep. Having a child 2,000 miles away at Roanoke College, it's comforting to know that when I visit I always have the best place to stay. read more

Excellent upscale hotel, newly-opened in a repurposed historic Main Street movie theatre structure. We liked everything about the Rowland on two recent stays of one night each: quiet and immaculately clean with high-end finishing and furnishings. Very nice restaurant and bar off of the lobby. I can't say enough wonderful things about the Rowland Hotel! Tara, Tina, and Hannah are gracious and lovely. They treat everyone like family, and always go above and beyond with their service.
