Not to be unexpected due to liability concerns while on their property, absolute limited access to your property aside from retrieving personal belongings. That aside, they were agreeable to towing vehicle to a bay to retrieve recently-installed tires for a fee. Would certainly consider them for towing services and/or basic repair services, but suggest considering where your vehicle is towed to in the event of an accident - home or your preferred service provider. I have been going to trev's for a couple years now. I have been nothing but happy. Trev and all his staff have always been very courteous and pleasant. I had my car in recently for a noise I was hearing and it couldn't be repeated in the shop. They put it up on the rack checked all over and couldn't find anything. No charge, any other place would charge for the labor. I continued to hear the noise, I called and Trev he said drop by when it's making the noise. I did and Trev got in the car with me to hear what I was hearing, the noise had become more consistent, and he heard it. It turned out to be the front struts, which had be done reccently. The struts were replaced again. I did not expect to have to pay for the struts again but I did expect to be charged labor for this. Nope! I have been very happy with Trev's! read more

Thinking it would a small fee. Nope. He charged me $90 to replace the battery saying the computer says it's a 45min job. Wow I'm not even a mechanic and I can do in about 10mins. You would think that after giving him over 15 years of business he would take care of me or at least not rip me off. No wonder the place is slowing losing business. Honest. Support local business that you can trust. I have brought my car to Trev's the past 11 years. I am not a car guy, so having a trusted auto mechanic is very valuable. There have been many times where trevs, knowledge has saved me hundreds of dollars. He will help walk you through whether or not it's worth it to make the auto repair. My mom took her car there for AC diagnostics - AC is blowing hot air. My mom has bad English so after she paid a $150 fee with her credit card I called the shop to get the diagnostics results. First red flag was that they charged $150 instead of promised $120, turns out they took advantage of her bad English and did a NYS inspection even though it wasn't due for another 7 months. I started talking to Trevor (owner, I assume) about AC and he said that the AC was broken during prior repair elsewhere and they decline further service on it. I started asking for options on how to repair the AC since we just paid $120 to get a path forward, he became argumentative and replied with "whatever floats your boat, but we decline any further service on the car". I asked if we can "decline" his diagnostics charge since my mom is on a fixed income and now needed to start over at different shop. Trevor proceeded to curse me out over the phone and hang up. My mom was in her car ready to leave as she checked out with receptionist and got her keys back. Trevor proceeded to flag her down and aggressively told her to get out of the car and to give him car keys back. My mom did not know what was going on and gave him the keys, he then moved the car behind a locked gate. When I called back to ask what was happening and why he took the car back after we completed the transaction, he said that he refunded the credit card payment and will accept cash only by 5pm otherwise there will be a $75 daily storage fee. My mom tried to go back to tell him that she had only $60 cash on her -- Trevor screamed at her to get out of his shop in front of other customers. Fortunately, my brother was in the area and had cash on him, otherwise my mom would be stranded in 90 degree heat without means of transport. We should have called the police, but my mom was already distraught and wanted to get out of there asap. read more

I needed a simple tow hitch install on my wife's Subaru. I was renting a U-Haul from Trev's for a separate matter and thought just do everything in one place. I called and got a quote of 264 dollars (don't remember the change) which I agreed to. I know this quote was inline because my father had just gotten a tow hitch put on his Subaru for 230. The price difference was in the special tow hitch needed for her Impreza rather than the more generic used on his Outback. My wife brought the car in. The install time was double what we were quoted, annoying but not much more than a minor inconvenience. The problem's started when I got the invoice from my wife. She wasn't aware of how much of a deposit I made (199) so when they charged her 190 she handed them my card and paid. The garage saw that they weren't dealing with me but someone who was simply dropping the car and took advantage. They over charged by 125 dollars. When I called to calmly talk to the owner, Trevor, I was met with lies, insults, and swearing. He didn't remain professional for two minutes. To me this is a further admission of his guilt in this matter. I'm taking it up with the credit card company. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. After bouncing around a few repair places in town I tried Trev's. It has the advantage of being within walking distance of home. So far everything has been done well, within reasonable time, and relatively inexpensively. A couple of more such experiences and I will likely up them to a 5. It would be good if they could upgrade the waiting room a little, cause sometimes I do prefer to just wait instead of walking home. Always lets me know what needs to be done first for safety and what can be held off for a bit. They always provide me with estimates. They don't try to upsell you on things that don't need to be done. With just a regular oil change they check over my truck to make sure there is nothing else wrong with it. I ran inside in need of help because basically my car was about to get into an accident, I asked the girl nicely if she could help me I'll even pay the service or whatever, she refused she said they are closed, I said I really need help I'm not from this area she still refused and she first said they didn't have tools!?!? Used for towing after an accident, not by choice. I'll start with saying it's a he said/she said story that doesn't end well. My son was in a car accident while I was away and Trev's Automotive was called by the trooper to tow my son's car. My son is 19 and has no clue what goes on when an accident happens. The tow driver claims he was told keys were in car/son claims he asked if they were needed, regardless no keys went with the car. His windows and sun roof were all open when it was towed away. My son realized it would storm that evening and called to see if he could come and close the windows in his car, he was told no. Then I found out about this and called a friend at home to help and he called, explained the situation, offered to pay for the person's time that had to come out and still they refused to let him close his windows. And to boot whoever both my son and friend spoke to was a real jerk and that's a nice choice of word. Needless to say there was quite the storm that evening and his RX8 filled up with water, as if the damage from the accident wasn't enough. On top of that they nailed him with a bill of $326 for a tow 5 miles and less than 24 hrs storage. They just lost any future business from us and my friend, not that they care. read more

I made a reservation for a UHaul trailer to be picked up at Trev's. They called me to "confirm" the reservation, and proceeded to tell me that they didn't have a trailer available at the time I requested (3 pm), even though it was supposedly guaranteed by UHaul. The manager said that he could have a trailer available at 5:30, or at 8 am. When I asked why he wouldn't have a trailer at 3 if he would have one at 8, he said that he didn't want to tie up a trailer for 2 days for what amounted to a one day rental. Basically, he wouldn't honor the online reservation that I had made through UHaul. After this experience, I wouldn't trust Trev's. read more

We've been using Trev for 5 years and we've very happy with the work he and his mechanics have preformed. They are precise with the estimate and aren't padding the cost (no surprises!). He will make suggests about replacing a part while he has particular areas of the car opened up for repair, which I think is good practice. My son had his rear axle replaced. A few months late the auto manufacturer recalled the car for that condition and he a was very helpful with providing documentation, and we were reimbursed by the auto manufacturer. On another occasion the CC (catalytic converter) was replaced on my daughter's car. About a week after the repair the check engine light came on. She returned the car for testing and it was diagnosed with a bad CC. He sent her home assuring her that the car was safe to drive, ordered a new CC, and did the repair within a couple of days. Trev and his crew got us in short notice on a weekend, replaced a couple fan belts that my mechanic back home failed to point out were the originals, and they raised my confidence level before a 913 mile journey back home with the family. I needed automotive repair & took a chance on this place, primarily due to it's location being so close to my job. Being a single girl requiring automotive work is enough anxiety to send me to an institution. Upon my initial arrival to inquire about my needs & an estimate, Trev's looked over my vehicle free of charge & gave me an honest, fair opinion & estimate. They were able to correct the misleading information I had received at Jiffy Lube & inform me of what my vehicle's true needs were- consequently saving me hundreds of dollars. Also, the hourly labor rate is significantly less then the large dealerships. I trust this place immensely, recommend it highly & also, I feel a mix-up regarding a u-haul rental time (as stated in another review) has no bearing on the repair shops honest, integrity based services. This place is super shady. They tow cars for the police and won't break down their exorbitant rates. When I managed to get the detail of charges after much persuading ($200 for the tow and $4.50 per mile plus $60 storage per day even if you pick up same day) he tacked on an extra $60 because I said his rates were high (higher even than NYC) and he was taking advantage of people in a moment of crisis. I started going to Trev's around 2006 when I had a 2002 Mazda 626. Trev and his team took perfect care of that car, to the point that when I sold it to a young RPI student, the mechanic who looked it over said he would buy the car himself. Recently, we were in the market for a used car for our teenage daughter and we needed to have Trev look over the various cars we were considering. Free of charge, he and his team made time to look at three different cars and give us feedback about each. The third car made the cut and we will be taking our 2005 Honda Accord to Trev's for all repairs and maintenance. We so appreciate that Trev is honest, fair and credible and has always made us feel like he wants us to have a car that runs great and is safe to drive. He is trustworthy and runs a great shop! I highly recommend that people give him a shot. If you are paying big money to a dealership or to a "chain," you are probably paying too much and are possibly paying for unnecessary "repairs." read more

Almost killed my cat. If you value the life of animals DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. My roommate and I had a tire pop 20 minutes from home which wouldn't have been a big problem if we hadn't had our cat with us. We were taking him home from the vet and he was still in his carrier; we called the tow service and had to wait thirty minutes in the very HOT sun, trying to keep us and the cat cool. When the tow arrived, I was informed that our cat would not be allowed in the cab area because of "insurance"; i.e. if someone else came into the cab who was allergic to cat hair, they could get sued or some shit. Let me ask you a question: If someone came into the cab smelling strongly of Axe body spray or some horrible perfume, or was soaked in cigarette or weed smoke, do you think this company would say "you're not allowed in this cab because you could leave behind a smell that might cause someone to have an allergic reaction"? No, they would not, because that would be insulting to them as human beings. I felt insulted as a pet owner who considers the animals I own my children; they are living, breathing, creatures who deserve consideration, not a liability to be tossed aside like so much garbage. My cat was left in the car that was being towed, and by the time we got home, he was panting with stress and overheating. If he had been in the cab with us, he wouldn't have been on the verge of passing out. I wanted to ream the idiot who was heartless enough to treat my cat (and, by extension, me) with such little thought. Even if your "boss" sends an order like that down to you, is it really okay to treat a poor animal like trash because something MIGHT happen? WAY more people are allergic to perfumes and cigarette smoke than they are to pet hair, and there isn't a "policy" about THEM. Fuck this heartless company; animals might not be important to some people, but I am personally horrified that a company would be this outright terrible to animals. read more

Upon following up to see when I could have it looked at and fixed I was rudely spoken to, accused of being "pushy" and hung up on after being called a "wacko". not sure how the automotive side is but renting a u-haul from this location may have possibly amounted to the worst customer experience of my life. i rented a van last minute at 6:15pm before they closed and was thankful that they had one available. i discussed having the van back the same night thinking that it would be possible as i was only moving two couches. this was not "set in stone" and the rental contract guaranteed me 24hrs as i was charged the full $19.95 for a daily rental. that night family issues arose and i did not have an opportunity to bring the van back the same night but was able to get it back the next day around 1pm. this clearly satisfied the 24hr rental agreement and i expected to only get charged $19.95. when i received my billing statement i realized that the cost had jumped to $69. confused, i called trev's and spoke with the same manager i had the night of the rental. she proceeded to tell me that i was charged two days for the rental as she had decided to double-book the van and that because of the inconvenience i would not be refunded. during our discussion it had never been mentioned that the van "needed" to be returned the night before as it was going to be promised to another customer. additionally, she claims that they rent on a "per day" basis which is apparently arbitrarily decided by them what constitutes as a day. this argument doesn't make sense such that a day is technically 24hrs and if i had rented the vehicle without a conversation she even admits that i would have only been charged a day if returned within 24hrs...which it was. finally, after calling u-haul, it turns out that contractually the manager did not even charge me an additional day but a cleaning fee which was unneeded as the van was returned full of gas and in the condition it was rented. the manager claims this was a mistake and that she meant to charge it on the contract as an extra day. that seems a little too convenient to me as a cleaning charge can't be disputed as easily as an extended rental can. she also stated that as she was not able to contact me this added to the inconvenience. i explained that i had just received a new phone and as i was able to make out going calls i assumed incoming ones were working as well. i apologized for this also but regardless of any of the ancillary or anecdotal evidences provided in this story; i rented a van for a day (24hrs,) returned it in that time frame and was charged for two days (48hrs.). this is fraudulent thievery and i expect any charges outside of the written contract to be refunded to me. at this time u-haul is investigating the incident and my credit card company has been advised to dispute any charges from trev's. i will continue to escalate this issue until i am fairly compensated. overall, in the case of this manager at least, trev's seems like a shady shop. read more
