Honestly, whatever this spa is advertised as doesn't matter. Elizabeth, the owner, is enough of a…read morereason to stay away. Customer service is not her strong suit. Drove up two hours with family (sister in law had a massage booked) only to have her call minutes before arriving to tell her that the masseuse called in sick and wasn't coming in. We still went anyway because we were right down the road and, upon arriving, were greeted by a very defensive and unaccommodating owner, who we found out happens to be Elizabeth. I get it, people get sick, that isn't even the issue here although it's probably a good idea to have some sort of policy set up with your employees that doesn't allow them to cancel minutes before an appointment. Or, here's a thought, why not have more than one masseuse on staff? But who knows, for all we know, this might've even been a lie because she was giving my wife and sister-in-law such a hard time from the get-go, at the beginning of the reservation process and even when my wife went to buy the gift card. She was rude, didn't even apologize and instead, completely absolved herself from any responsibility for the matter. Just said there was nothing she could do and didn't even offer any kind of complimentary discount after we traveled so far to come to her spa. I've worked in customer service for many years and you always try to work with a customer, no matter the case. The only option she begrudgingly offered up was to text another "potential" employee who could "maybe" come in, but couldn't make any guarantees nor was she happy about having to potentially stay longer to wait around for an answer. If your reason for visiting Copperhood is to "get away from it all" and to detoxify for a week, you can be rest assured that by the end of the week you'll be filled right back up with another kind of toxicity from the owner. Book and stay at your own risk.

I want to be fair here because this is a unique place that maybe we didn't appreciate at the time…read more We didn't do a spa package, we rented the "condo" attached to the resort. Not a big deal, but it still cost $400 a night. There is no bar here, no lobby "scene", and honestly the service isn't great. For $400 a night we got a DVD player, when we asked at 9pm for a DVD, they said they were closed. The next night, we rented DVDs early, but the DVD player wasn't connected, and when we asked, they said they would take care of it "tomorrow". Finally, on our last and third night they fixed it. This honestly is some sort of lifestyle adjustment, fat farm or whatever resort. That's not a pejorative, it just is. You pay a lot of money, and you take nature walks, eat raw foods, and go to bed early. Again, not a bad thing per se, but quite a lot for the money. we didn't do the spa/resort package, we just rented the condo. Every time we had an issue, the proprietor would say "you are not part of the resort, you rented the condo". As if it's a distinction with a difference. Really annoying service, but they are committed to what they want to be, which would explain why there were only 4 cars in the lot during Memorial Day weekend. Beautiful place. Phoenicia is cool. Woodstock is cool. But if you book here, don't ever think you're booking at a normal hotel. It's not. It's a beautiful place with beautiful scenery, but the service is next to zero, and it's basically a rehab facility. If you're looking for a fun time in the Catskills, this ain't it. If you're looking to nature walk and eat raw food and drink vegetable juice, it's all yours for ~$500 a night. The llamas are cool too

He found the knot of hurt in my shoulder blade area and approached it a number of ways to loosen its hold on me. Months of sweet relief. I would have gone back to Alex when the pain came back a few months later, but I live in Riverdale. I tried CBD oil and that helped to bring me to 90% pain free. Now, back in Hunter, NY for vacation I scheduled a myofascial massage with Alex. He remembered me from the year before and the treatment the other day left me a little sore (totally expected and normal) and this morning I woke up so limber and relaxed for yoga class. I plan to schedule another session before heading back to the city because he is likely the best therapist I've ever had. He's kind and easy to get along with and the office is clean and beautiful with calm colors and furnishings.

I was very impressed with how aligned and relaxed my body felt after the first session so I was eager for the second appointment. The second session was even better than the first. A direct outcome of repeat visits with a well trained therapist is they get a better handle on what your body really needs and can handle. He pushed me a little further this time, just enough of what my muscles needed but not too much.

Dewa Spa -- Massage with Jason M…read more After an exhausting day of yard work, my body was aching and sore, so I booked a massage at Dewa Spa. The massage with Jason wasn't just a physical massage -- it was an otherworldly, blissful experience. From the moment he began, I could feel that his skilled, intuitive hands knew exactly what I needed. Tight muscles loosened, knots melted away, and I was filled with a deep sense of relief. The music was different from the usual calming playlist -- instead, his playlist seemed to align with what my body needed, like everything was moving together in sync. Jason seemed to sense exactly where I needed attention and before I knew it, the session gently morphed into something more like an energy healing ceremony. It's hard to describe, but afterwards, I felt cleaned out -- energetically and physically. My body felt light and I physically moved easily, but more surprisingly, I was deeply content, and at peace. A full day later, I'm still floating -- no soreness in my body, just lightness and a clearer, calmer mind. Jason has such a gift, and I'm so grateful I found him. I can't recommend him enough!
