Looking for a gluten free place for someone with celiac and found this place. Roxy burger has a nostalgic, classic car, diner booth atmosphere. The burgers we had were made with absolute care for quality. Fresh ingredients, a barbecue grill style burger and great fries means you won't be disappointed. The staff offered to make a salad dressing fresh for us, being out of the dressing we wanted. Single cocktails are totally reasonably priced and very tasty. With great food, caring staff and management, and a fun atmosphere, you can't go wrong here. read more

I just came back from a nite out in town ad I stopped at roxy burger to grab a bite and a drink:) I had the chicken burger and I found it quite decent. My bf had the chicken burger as well, but with a side of poutine( extra 3.50$) The burgers were fine and you could actually see the real chicken breast on it:) the poutine was ok too, not the best but it was pasable! We came here for drinks on a Saturday night and were seated quickly. I ordered a margarita and my boyfriend ordered a double Long Island because there was a special that night for $7 each. We got our drinks relatively quickly, but service was virtually nonexistent and poor. My margarita was flat and too sweet. After taking 3-4 sips, I realized that they used margarita mix and that is why it was so sweet and artificial tasting. My boyfriend's Long Island iced tea was also sweet and run down, and certainly did not taste like a double since it was also in a small glass and not even a standard 8 oz glass. Food and drinks were fine. Reasons being I give a 1 star rating was because of my server... When we paid our bill she had the audacity to come back to our table and rudely ask if her service wasn't good enough for us because she didn't like the tip we gave. While my girlfriends and I sat there in shock she stomped away with a huge attitude. NEVER have I ever had such a terrible experience with a server before. All week long I'd had mad cravings for a veggie burger. I was tempted a few times to grab a quick, inferior burger but I'm glad I waited. I'd never been to Roxy Burger before, but I was drawn in by hopes of awesomeness. It was pretty quiet for 7:00 on a Thursday evening, but that was fine by me. They had $6.50 doubles on special and a lonnng burger list. I was happy! I decided to construct my own burger, choosing what kind of bun I wanted, a veg patty and lotso' condiments. I was in burger heaven the whole meal. Their fries were nothing special, so I hardly touched them. Oh, and they claim their veg patty is specially made for them but I've had it many places before. It's a pretty generic patty, but it was still a tasty burger. Mmm. I found the prices to be good, the flavour and quality of the food to be spot on and the staff were nice and attentive. Roxy burger was my neighbourhood bar! this, and cafe crepes. so it's one of the few places that open late. i think 3am? and the kitchen past midnight. which is fantastic/rare for vancouver. great drink specials during weeknights. their fries are really good. what sucks is lack of seating. it's relatively a small place. i often had to sit in those bitch seats directly across from the bar! where everyone heading to pee would bump into me. read more

BUrgers looked decent, but they did not seem very prepared for the Olympic crowd. And I understand that the servers are working really hard, but that's no reason for her to give a snarky attitude to her customers. And plus, they must be raking in the dough being located right on Granville during the Olympics. I am always on the hunt for the a great burger so after reading a few Yelp reviews about this place I thought I would pop in and give it a try. It reminded me of a cross between a bar and old fashioned diner but the atmosphere was quiet and casual. Seeing as this was a my only meal before starting a long day at work i went with the double Roxy burger with bacon and cheddar. The burger came out in about 10 min and i was a little disappointed with the presentation. It looked very sloppy and like no time had been put into putting it together. The burger itself tasted decent but the double patty was probably overkill and the taste of meat overpowered my mouth. The bacon was nicely crispy and the rest of the ingredients tasted crunchy and fresh. The fries however were waaaaaaay too salty so i ate a few and just left the rest :p All in all i enjoyed my dining experience at Roxys and would probably go back to try some of their more unique burger combinations!!! read more

Overall: average. I ordered the Roxy Burger which was underwhelming, the patty was kind of dry. A little overpriced for a plain burger. The drinks were reasonably priced but again, meh. Service was quick but that's the best I can say. Our waitress wasn't rude at all, nor was she friendly or sociable. My suggestion, don't come here sober. Nothing wrong with this little burger joint. It is right in the middle of the bar district and know who it's clientele is. Drunk or about to get drunk, Roxy Burger will have you covered. More than once I have ended up here if the lineups are long at any particular night club I was late getting to. Food is average, but after a few drinks all food is the same. Roxy Burger lured me in with their kitschy sign, stylized like a dive bar. As we passed the patio, I got the feeling something was amiss. It was then that I knew I wasn't going to get the cheap, greasy and sloppy dive burger I was craving. And when we walked in, surprise, it looked like every other damn restaurant. We sat on the cramped patio of three tables (which are reflective, by the way, so you're sure to be blinded if the sun is anywhere in sight), and our waitress came right away. We were some of the only customers, so service was quite quick. She seemed to be geared more to the "beer and wings, lets watch some sports, bro" crowd, so when she referred to my friend and I as "sweetie" and "darling" I felt a bit pandered to. I don't look like the kind of guy who is going to give a bigger tip for being called "darling." I ordered the Back Bacon Swiss Burger, as did my comrade, and we were both left unimpressed. The back bacon was more akin to a thin slice of deli meat and the patty was tasteless. The fries were nice, though. I still feel for $11.75 it wasn't a *bad* deal, but I think they're really missing their mark. If you're going to try and make fancy burgers, then do it right. Otherwise, cater to the dive crowd and make that thing messy. I washed the burger down with a watery Caesar that wasn't worth the money one bit. All in all, it's an average place that didn't give me food poisoning, but I'm sure I could toss a stone and hit ten other restaurants on Granville that have better fare for a better fare. read more

Loved this place last time I visited three years ago. Unfortunately, current staff has ruined the nostalgic and fun vibes of this place. I walked into the bar and bartenders immediately made a comment about not wanting to serve our large group. I wish there was a place like this in Portland. There probably is we just haven't come across it yet. We went here between 3-4AM, yes AM. We got hungry late at night...and wanted to venture out and find a late night place to eat. Thanks to Yelp and Vancouver's relative feeling of security to walk the streets at night...we decided to hit the street and check out "Roxy". We simply had a Diet Coke and an order of Chicken Fingers & Fries. The best part about this was the Door Man...he was on guard to keep the RIFF-RAFF out...Bums know where to gather...we had one follow us Shaking his Cup full of Change behind us...we didn't turn around...and he quick once we got to the Door Man. Before going out to a concert at The Commodore we usually like to grab some easy eats. The past two times we've hit the Roxy Burger. They have tons of tables suitable for big groups. Every night they've got drink specials on like pints for $4. Their food is reasonably priced standard burger joint fare and totally edible. Last night I had the Buffalo Burger. It was flavourful, the chipotle sauce packed punch. Buffalo is a lean meat so it can tend to be dry but even though the patty wasn't super thick it was fine. My hubby had a regular burger which he scarfed down without any complaints. He was very excited about the fact that the fries looked handmade. I tried one and it was tasty and not too greasy. Two burgers and four pints came to $35. We've only ever had really friendly service at this place and the music is always good for getting you in the mood for a concert. read more

I ordered the salmon burger with fries and my friend ordered the lamb burger with green salad Salmon burger = 1/5. Believe it or not, burger bun was 40% bigger than the salmon patty itself. Salmon patty was small and taste was severely underwhelming. Fries were soggy and lack flavour. Service = 1/5. Absolutely no service at all. I didn't get my drink refilled but at least the waitress asked how the food was. Ambiance = 2/5. A little bit too loud and noisy for my liking... but to be expected of a pub. Cleanliness = 2.5/5. The seats appear to be clean but going downstairs to the washroom was horrendous. Definitely would hold my bladder and bowel on this one. The only reason I give this a rating of 2/5 star is because I had a coupon that gave me $12 discount on the total bill so mehhh. However, for $12-15 burgers, I expected better... much better. This is actually a very low-key and relaxing spot to have some bar snacks and a cold beer after a long day of work. They offer the only frosted mugs anywhere on the Granville strip which is especially great on Wednesday nights when they offer $3 pints. The "monster wings" are truly monsterous but are actually drumsticks. The servers are friendly and attentive, and while the food isn't great, this place is affordable and not too loud so you can have a comfortable conversation any day of the week. It is quite a bit rowdier on weekends though, but they serve food until 4am every night of the week which is a good alternative to going to McDonald's or for a slice of pizza if you happen to be hungry for a snack and in the area. read more

The service was great. It is rare to get good service, however I would attribute this to the waitress and not the rest of the staff. The burger was mediocre at best and the double long island tasted like a single watered down. The fries clearly came straight out of a frozen food bad and had no seasoning. It is simply a burger and a beer kind of place but failing on the burger part. Mind you it wasn't pukeable, but it wasn't special. I will give it a decent. This is my first time at the Roxy Burger after walking by it for many many years. The reason why I came down here is 'cause I was convinced by a friend of mine to come down for some green beer for St Patrick's day weekend. I did need a study break since I was downtown anyway. I don't drink, however, they put green food coloring in some club soda for me. Their menu was okay, however, there was obvious stuff that should've been there that was missing in the end. They didn't have nachos on the menu even though they had all the ingredients to make it but they had just chips and salsa. Sometimes you just need a little cheese :), so where was the cheese? I ordered a cheese burger with just ketchup, mustard, pickle, hot pepper and bacon. When I got it home, the top bun was soaked with pickle juice because they put it on the bun instead of on the burger, the bottom bun was completely wet falling apart mush from all the tomatoes and lettuce that I specifically asked not for, and there was no ketchup. It was disgusting and they refused to refund me. There are so many better options on Granville street. I wish I had gone to Harvey's instead for a way better burger made exactly how I want it for 1/2 the price (it's practically next door so don't waste your time at Roxy burger, go to Harvey's). read more

i visited roxy burger recently and experienced some of the worst service in my entire life. i wasn't expecting much when we walked in but honestly after this i would rather eat off the ground outside than deal with the hostility from the waitress we had the delight of serving us. when we walked in, the guy working the bar was friendly, about the only highlight of the entire experience. the waitress was indifferent from the very beginning, not helpful in offering suggestions on what to eat as neither of us had eaten here before. i ordered the poutine, which was advertised to have cheese curds like poutine should. but what i received was definitely not cheese curds. it tasted alright but not what the menu described. my friend, ordred the monster wings, which aren't wings but chicken thighs. while eating these 'wings', my friend kept getting shards of the chicken bone chipping off in the meat. upon complaint, the waitress said 'thats just how they are cut, they are always like that' also one of the wings was so undercooked that it was still pink. that was another complaint that was completely blown off by the waitress, just saying 'thats how it is'. i don't know about you, but i don't think that chicken is supposed to be pink. the fire alarm went off for at least 10 minutes non stop while we were there. not sure why, but there was no apologies offered or anything, we just had to sit there and deal with it. my friend twisted the arm of our waitress to get a free drink because the bar sure as hell wasn't offering anything. read more

The hamburger is a generous size at 8 oz. I was full and satisfied. The hambuger meat was a tad dry, I prefer a burger more moist also the flavour was a bit bland. I had the Canadian with the extra 3.50 for the cheddar,bacon fries it was the best part of the meal. With a beer for 5.50 and a burger and fries for 16.25. I felt it was a bit over priced for what I got. All in all maybe I'll try this place one more time soon somewhere down the road. I will add though the atmosphere was pleasent and service was very good, of course that's all relative to how busy it could get. Today there was only 4 other parties here. read more

I ordered a meal from this restaurant, via orderit.ca, and I found it pretty much inedible. I was surprised, as I've heard good things about the food here, but here's why I couldn't eat it: 1) I ordered the "skinny dip," which is a 7-layer dip served with (allegedly) homemade chips. The chips were a) stale, and b) thrown in a box along with a handful of jalapeno slices, so by the time I got them, they were soggy with jalapeno juice. The dip itself tasted a bit "off," and I felt mildly ill all night, even though I only ate a few bites. I can give them the benefit of the doubt on that, though: I may have felt ill because I barely got any dinner, rather than because what I did get was spoiled. 2) I also ordered the club sandwich. The fries served with it were dry to the point of crunchiness, and tasted like they were at least a day old. The sandwich was wet and floppy, and dripped grease into the takeaway box when I picked it up. I'm pretty brave when I'm hungry, but I reconsidered eating that. So, I spent about $30, what with delivery fees, tip for the driver, and food, and didn't get any dinner. Can't rate it higher than one star. read more

Before I knew that it rained all the time in Vancouver, I decided to come here based off a Groupon that they had, along with the fact that I had no umbrella, and it was an attempt for us to save money on our trip. We came in in the afternoon and it was empty except for a few die hard fans there watching some sports games. We were sat down quickly and we essentially said we were starving and we had a Groupon and lo and behold our waitress got us menus and cokes right away. I like the place even thought it wasn't well lit, it was a nice place to calm down and relax before going back to our hotel to go out to hit the nightlife. All three of us ordered burgers as we figured if they had that in their names it should be pretty good. Our food didn't take long and 3 burgers came out looking amazing. They tasted great too and seeing as we were all hungry we punished the burger, fries, and at least 3 glasses of cokes. I have nothing bad to say about this place as I loved the deal that we got on Groupon and they delivered with a solid burger and with great service (essentially checking up on us but not over doing it and letting us watch the games and chat). 2 star for food, 1 star for service/price. So 1.5 overall. I passed Roxy Burger a bunch of times on my way into the City Center and considering the name, I thought this would be more of a burger shack than a bar (especially since the Roxy is next door and that's where you go for the nightlife). Not the case. I wanted to grab a quick burger before a night out, so didn't want to start drinking at dinner. Pretty much everyone else was drinking, and not even eating, and when we asked for water instead of beer I sensed judgement and irritation from the waiter. On top of all of this, we sat and waited for 30 minutes for our food to come out. That is a little ridiculous considering most pubs can put out food, especially popular items, in 10 minutes or less. Since the food took so long to get out of the kitchen, and since this place is called Roxy BURGER I was hoping that 30 minute wait was going to gain me an amazing burger. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the burgers at all. I am a bit of a buffalo burger enthusiast so whenever I have the opportunity I will order it. DO NOT get it here. I was extremely disappointed to see that all the burgers look like they were frozen patties as opposed to fresh meat, and the buffalo patty tasted like processed gunk. It was also very measly compared to the beef patty and was really dry and overcooked, it barely even tasted like meat. My boyfriend got the Canadian Roxy (signature burger with bacon and cheddar added), and it was much less disappointing even though the patty was still from frozen and pretty dry compared to regular burger standards. On the plus side, the fries were pretty good and tasted fresh. On top of all of these disappointments, the bill came out to $30 just for two burgers. Definitely way over-priced. I have a feeling that Roxy Burger somehow boasts their reputation based on reviews from people who stumble in for 3am drunk food and can't tell the difference. read more

The absolute worst service we've ever experienced anywhere in Vancouver! The pink haired server was so rude and obnoxious. We were treated as if we were unwelcome guests at her home and she could not wait for us to leave fast enough so that she could continue her conversation with the other staff members.
