I've gotten my lashes done several times in the city at those "lash bars" in midtown and I've never…read moregotten the amount of care or precision that Jewel gives to me. Jewel is extremely kind, accommodating and skilled. Her work does not compare to anything that the other commercial lash bars offer. She really goes out of her way to make sure her customers are satisfied. I've gotten my lashes done by her twice now and will continue to get them refilled by her as she really delivers. The first time I got my lashes done by Jewel, I got home and was not completely satisfied. I texted Jewel and she tried her best to schedule a time to see me before my trip in two days. Though she wasn't able to see me before my trip, she still accommodated me a week after my initial appointment date! Well past her 24-48 hours grace period! The communication at a point got frustrating as we tried to find a time that worked for the both of us. Once I expressed my frustration, Jewel called me immediately, apologizing and fitting me in her busy schedule late that same night. She is a busy individual (as she should be, she does great work) but once you arrive at your appointment, all her attention is on you! I needed a fill-in and repair for a nail that I broke, as I had a party to go to that evening. Not a bad environment, but not a great one either. It felt like a chop shop that was trying too hard to keep up with the times, without any real improvements, other than new pedicure chairs. The woman who did my nails was actually quite thorough, but after seeing her pull tools and a heavily used nail file out of an unsanitized box underneath the hot towels, I kind of was turned off a bit, but didn't walk away as I needed this nail fixed. So she re-shaped my nails from coffin to a slightly pointed oval. I asked for very pointy and sharp twice, but she seemed to just blow that off all together. As she was working on my nails, I realized that she wasn't really filling in the apex of the nail, so they don't feel as durable as they normally would for long nail and I'm a bit fearful of them breaking. I did feel very rushed and when I asked if I could get nail art, she basically was like "another time", as I am guessing she had an appointment after me. But you could've just passed me onto another nail tech to finish the design if that was the case... kind of strange. It was $70 for the one repair, a mediocre fill in, changing the shape, and gel polish. Plus, tip, because even if the service wasn't the best, it's still a service. Tip your waitress, understood? All I will say, is that I'll be glad to go back to my normal nail tech in a few weeks, unless one of these falls off before then. The color was a lovely shade of poppy and it looked great for a quick fix. So there's that!
